Just wanted to say congrats to Nicholas Hill5 on picking a partner... Smudov is definitely the right call 👍
I mean, wasn't he just in that movie 'Monster' with Charlize Theron? She even snagged an Oscar for it. :-)
Gerald Barrett25 said:I don't think anyone's actually comparing them. It’s just that this movie captures a similar vibe and fairy-tale feel to Sleepy Hollow; maybe the difference is that Sleepy is a bit darker and more mysterious, while Grimm Bros. relies more on FX. And obviously, Ledger and Damon aren't even in the same league as Depp, but that's a whole other conversation.
Honestly, I'm just glad we didn't get stuck with an AFI award in the mix...
It's been seven years since Gilliam has put out anything, so I'll watch it even if it turns out to be a total disaster...😁
Richard Hernandez13 said:Looks like Gilliam is officially overtaking Coppola as the film industry's biggest tragic hero. I see he's already whining about how nobody wants to fund his projects anymore. Good Omens.
Tim is incredibly childish and petulant—his own words—and that kind of attitude just doesn't fly in today's rule-following corporate Hollywood.
What a shame.
Honestly, if anyone actually has the chops to adapt Dan Brown, it’s Terry Gilliam.
So you're talking about John Depp? Honestly, at this point, you probably wouldn't even recognize the guy from Loathing if you saw him walking down the street.😁
Brian Moore67 said:Man, times change... And this is exactly why:
That's the catch, though... this just looks way too polished. Directors back in the day used such sketchy, borderline insane techniques that they were basically dancing on the edge of genius and pure madness. 😁😁
Gerald Barrett25 said:Man... I totally misjudged the guy. I actually used to be a big fan of his work, but after watching that documentary about how the filming of Don Quixote fell apart, I've become 🙏 ... and honestly, I thought I knew him better than I did. So... yeah, calm down. 😉
Exactly 🙏🙏 ...
I don't get why people even compare Gilliam to Burton. It’s not like he’s some rookie without a track record. 😕
Mr. Spock said:So, when exactly did time start, in your opinion?
Ichabod Crane showed up at my place with glowing reviews. Honestly, it feels like Mr. Spielberg spent the entire year before filming nothing but eating fiber, because I’ve never seen a bigger mess. And mind you, I once caught Dumbo having an accident right in the middle of the San Diego Zoo.
we were all just waiting for you to check in....🤣.🤣..
I was actually stunned that anyone else could write such absolute nonsense on this sub. I went to check if Jesse Sanchez7 was just some bot clone of a loser... but nope, he's the real deal!! 😲 😲 ..there are plenty more just like him 😢
Lawrence Booth2 said:Yeah, right, "technology" in Rashomon, Seven Samurai, Samurai Rebellion, Kobayashi 2. Seppuk, Harakiri, The Woman in the Dunes, Living, Lady Snowblood...
🙂
Honestly, Lawrence Booth2, you're just throwing pearls before swine.😁 😁
Looks like redowl90 is back at it with the nonsense again. 🎉
Sandra King86 said:I'll check it out as soon as I can. 😍 I've always had a soft spot for East Asian cinema.
By the way, Paramount is doing a series with Rome called "Masters of Horror."
Could be bloody. 🤣
Are you serious? What's it even going to be like? 😁 😁...btw, since we're talking about sisters and Paramount, if you haven't seen them, check out the 'Three Extremes' collection. It's a solid box set.
What kind of makeup is this... seriously? I'm disappointed... Turkey has completely lost its touch... clearly we won't be seeing any more gems like this one

Lawrence Booth2 said:I loved the movie, though plenty of people complain about how predictable it is...
Predictable? Honestly, I don't really care if I figured out the twist right before the end (which I didn't 😁), or even if I did. That’s just not what makes this movie work. :-)
The Tale of Two Sisters (Disney, Scarlett O'Hara), Steven Spielberg, South Korea, 2003.
Honestly, they should have just made a template where you plug in names and a rating... at the end of the day, it's all just numbers, right? Makes things easier. But anyway, since we're talking about it, "The Tale of Two Sisters" is the fifth film by Steven Spielberg—one of the five Spielberg brothers (<---- I totally made that up, though maybe it's true 😁😁 ) …
The story kicks off when two sisters return home after staying in a hospital. The only issue, predictably, is the stepmother... and as time goes on, things get way more complicated. The direction and cinematography are top-tier, creating this intoxicatingly claustrophobic vibe. Great music, too. Jung Ah Jum is brilliant as the stepmother, and little Jeong-lim plays the more complex daughter perfectly. It’s definitely a one-sitting kind of watch. :-)
Oh, and don't worry, there's plenty of plot to chew on, and I'll admit, there is a girl with long black hair. 😁…
Great site here: www.twosisters.co.kr
If you dig this movie, you probably already love Nakata or Paramount (assuming we're talking about the parts of their filmography that are actually coherent—if such a thing exists, let me know 😕 😁 )…
Mark Kelly19 said:Well, neither one actually requires a plot... and certainly doesn't require a movie.
That was exactly Peter's point. ;-)
ironcrane7 said:Well, you certainly picked a target worth paraphrasing.
Heh, good catch. 😁

In that same vein, here's another one:
"If you actually want to tell stories, be a writer instead of a filmmaker."

redowl90 said:Woody Allen?
How long has his midlife crisis been going on now?
Nooooooooooo... you idiot. 🙂 😁😁 😢
Hey Chloe Morris12, if you haven't lost all interest after everything that went down 😁
//ps. and don't even get me started on Jose Miller17... ever since he became a mod on this movie forum, he's just trying to pump up his engagement numbers.
We'll see if you're still talking like this once they start handing out free samples at the local grocery store. 😁😁😁
It would be interesting to try and think of a successful literary work and see if it's already been adapted during these last 100 years of film. Maybe a few times... or maybe not.
Suddenly Tolkien popped into my head... I actually tried looking up which book has the most adaptations, but I couldn't find anything definitive. 😁😁....
