This Is Spinal Tap in Movies ·
Man, I just remembered—once they start playing those outdoor festivals in the heat, the bassist is going to have a rough time. 🤣

Richard Hernandez13 said:Exactly. Spot on. This Is Spinal Tap If there were an actual normal distribution in America, we wouldn't have every amateur garage band in the neighborhood thinking their biggest claim to fame is being "the loudest band in the States." 😁
There are two different versions of the movie out there.
Finally, one of those Criterion Collection releases that actually feels complete, packed with all the supplements and director commentaries you'd expect.
It’s a whole different ballgame when you get an MGM special edition where Spinal Tap actually do the audio commentary themselves. 🤣

I’m telling you, that documentary is just on another level. And don't even get me started on the part with the woman in the band. 🙏....
I'm going after that second edition. 🙂 😁😁

Sure, money... doesn't matter if it's US dollars or some Qatari riyal...

Duje Draganja: Sellout or just misunderstood? in Other Sports ·
Oh yeah, I haven't seen Duje Draganja-prodana since he was probably just a kid in elementary school. His parents always spoiled him with the best gear, so he showed up to the courts with this fancy leather Spalding basketball. He joined us—just a small group of five or six kids—and started shooting hoops. Once a few more people showed up to play, he suddenly decided he couldn't join in because it was "his" ball. So, one of us just grabbed that nice Spalding, launched it straight toward the beach at Santa Monica, and chased him off. That was the end of Duje at our court. We heard later he moved on to swim training or something.

Even if there's a deeper metaphor hidden in here, 😁 the story is 100% true. :-)

You’re taking these posts way too literally.😁😁...
Otherwise, I actually liked Dogma... it was easily my favorite Tarantino movie. :-)

Brenda Rodriguez17 said:The whole idea was originally just to make ten films following those specific indie rules, but since other directors abroad caught the bug, the movement really took off.
I mentioned that Festen is my favorite of all those indie classics, mostly because I've actually sat through the entire collection.

Yeah, I get it. I'm just saying that last time I did the math, I landed on about 10 and a half... I guess there's one co-production involving the UK that counts as the extra bit. ;-) 😁😁

Ten what?

Ever since watching This Is Spinal Tap, it’s impossible to watch any hard rock or metal band without cracking up.

It definitely earns that title. 😁...seriously, every single line in that flick is a classic. The funniest part is how much of it is actually true—and I don't just mean for the stadium acts, but even for those local garage bands you see playing dives 😁😁. I heard about some guy trying to run his setup on high-end gear with all the bells and whistles 🙂... meanwhile, my old rig has been held together by duct tape and prayers for years, and I know exactly when it's finally going to give up the ghost. If I tried to crank it all at once, the whole thing would probably just implode 😁😁

If you're going to be this nitpicky, it's basically 10.5.

I put it through the aging test again today and still nothing... it just won't 🙂 🙏
...I have to admit, 'Eleven' is a classic, but the more I watch this one, the more I love it... specifically that part where they run into that other star at the hotel and talk to their manager, and he just says:

"Listen we'd love to stand around and chat but we've got to sit down in the lobby and wait for the limo."

🤣 🤣 ...

The Life and Death of Peter Sellers in Movies ·
Just watched it, and honestly? It’s a pretty depressing watch. Especially since it’s Peter Sellers—the whole thing leaves you feeling kind of conflicted, mostly because it tries to frame his entire career in such a wide lens. There's also one glaring issue: can this even work as a standalone movie if you don't already care about Sellers? Or how much interest could someone actually find in it if they aren't a fan? It was nice to revisit those legendary scenes, but it gets awkward when only a couple of people in the theater are laughing while everyone else is just 😕... and yeah, even Sellers barely survived being part of a Kubrick production... :-)...

Well, we dodged a bullet there... but listen, Donna Nelson23, because of these kinds of panics, I’m going to start scrubbing posts for everyone and just ban you instead. 😁😁😁
What did Ivy record on October 21, 2003? in Movies ·
I’ve got a few questions about this movie:

1. Is this some kind of family or social drama?
2. Does everyone speak with perfect, textbook diction?
3. Do they have sticks up their asses?
4. Is one girl's dad a former partisan while her boyfriend's dad was a former secret police agent?
5. By any (impossible) chance, is Ivo Gregurević in this?
6. Are the interiors filled with antique furniture?
7. Is there actually any humor in this thing?
8. See my answer to number 7—though I don't count jokes that end with "hahaha, he should've just told him!"

thanks 😁😁

quietdriver3 said:It reminds me of that story about filming Three. Apparently, they wanted to make it back in the early 90s, but some producer wasn't a fan of having a cast full of Greeks without a single American in sight...🤣

Good grief.🤣 🤣

Seriously though, is there any way to get Americans to chill out? This is honestly crossing every line of good taste...👎

Just pull your throat back a bit and try to clear some phlegm—then you'll sound just like Inspector Clouseau.

I was floored. Rush did an incredible job; the woman deserves a medal 😁 😁

Forget Steve Martin or some cheap remake—I wouldn't touch those with a ten-foot pole. But I'll definitely catch this one when it hits theaters. Sellers is just one of a kind.🙂

Sellers is the absolute GOAT. I saw "What's Up, Doc?" once and honestly, Woody Allen barely even registered because Sellers was stealing every single frame. It was ridiculous. Then there’s that bit where he wraps himself in the American flag just to try and light himself on fire. Pure genius. 🤣That guy is a genius... I just wonder how many people are actually smart enough to get him.
