Winter training plan - any tips? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Hey there,

I’ve got a bit of a dilemma regarding how to structure my training during the winter months and while stuck at home. The root of the issue is that I’m a classic Old School guy—I hate change and I can't stand new-fangled trends. Most importantly, I absolutely loathe working out indoors. I prefer being outside, running and training in the fresh air, but once winter hits, I end up taking these massive, pointless breaks. I just stop everything, lose my momentum, and completely fall out of shape...

I’m determined not to let that happen this year. I want to stay consistent, but the freezing temperatures and crappy weather are standing in my way. So, first question: what’s the cutoff temperature for running and outdoor training? At what point does it become unsafe or just bad idea to be doing sports outside in the cold?

The second issue is figuring out a winter routine for home workouts. Like I mentioned, I'm not an indoor person—especially when it comes to gyms or fitness centers. To me, those places are a total waste of time. You always run into someone you know and end up wasting half the session chatting, or worse, you spend the whole time distracted by people working out—staring at fit bodies instead of actually focusing on your own sets... It's a distraction. Because of that, I want to set up a little training studio at home. But here's the catch: how do I properly warm up and prep my body for exercises? I know that jumping straight into intense movements without preparation is a massive injury risk. Basically, how can I create an effective, high-quality workout in a standard home setting while avoiding injuries and setbacks? What kind of exercises, intervals, or routines would you suggest?

Thanks,
Bryan Rivera83 said:Look, if you’re seriously struggling to find a single page of sports stats out of thousands of sites on the web, you could just throw it all into an Excel sheet yourself, but since you seem to be having such a hard time, here’s one for free: https://www.whoscored.com/Statistics.

I'm looking for something similar to this, though it doesn't need to be quite this massive. This site has tons of data, but it’s missing the exact stuff I actually need—like corner kicks and yellow cards. I tried pulling the info together myself, but I have no clue how to build a program, and frankly, I'm pretty terrible with Excel. In
Hey everyone

I’m looking for some advice on building a stats tracker—or whatever you want to call a program like this. Here’s the gist: I need a tool where I can input data, and it spits out specific statistical averages. I'm talking things like average goals per game, corner kicks per match, yellow cards received, stuff like that. If doing everything at once is too much of a headache, I could just make three separate little programs for different metrics...

Basically, here’s how I envision it working... First, you’d pick a league—say, the United Kingdom, Germany, or the US. Once the league is set, you’d pick a team—if I choose the United Kingdom, it would list pre-entered teams like the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Lakers, or New York Yankees. After I select a team—let's say the New York Yankees—the program would show me their scoring average. Ideally, it would be one seamless flow: pick the league, pick the team, then toggle between viewing goals, corners, or yellow cards. That would be the dream setup.

A few questions:

1. Is this actually hard to build? I’m definitely not a tech guy, so I have no clue...

2. Does anyone here actually do this kind of work and could build/send me a program? I’m happy to pay for the labor or we can work out a fair price if it's nothing crazy...

I'm also open to a "halfway" version—where the selection logic is built, and you just teach me how to input all the raw data (leagues, teams, goal counts, etc.) so I can finish the rest myself.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Thyroid cancer in Health ·
Thanks everyone for the input, really appreciate the kindness.

I’m wondering—is there a real risk that the iodine won't actually kill off all those thyroid remnants, or even any cancerous tissue left behind? Does that actually happen, and if so, what’s the next move? That’s probably the absolute worst-case scenario...

We’re getting ready. The situation isn't exactly great, but we're all processing this in our own way—trying to stay tough and resilient so we can keep fighting. We've been through a lot already, but now comes this battle with the therapy and everything that follows...
Thyroid cancer in Health ·
Can someone please help me out and answer a few questions? I'll try to break down our situation as briefly as possible.

My wife was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She had surgery about a month ago—they removed the thyroid itself along with some lymph nodes. She had to wait four weeks for the pathology results, and her follow-up appointment was today. It turns out it’s one of the most treatable forms of cancer in that area, which is a relief, but—and there's always a "but"—the scans showed it spread to some other lymph nodes. Because of that, she has to undergo radioactive iodine therapy. We're looking at starting that in the coming weeks. Up until now, I've been able to stay calm and just take things one step at a time, but honestly? Now I'm feeling lost. What comes next? What are the actual risks? How long does this iodine treatment last, and what is the process really like? We have kids, too—I'm worried because I know she won't be able to be around us for a while due to the radiation and all that. I've done my best to research everything so far, but this next phase feels like a complete black hole. If anyone has any insight or experience, please let me know... Thanks.

Guys, please help me—I’m in total shock. I just found out today that my wife has thyroid cancer, and her surgery is scheduled for three weeks from now. She actually kept this from me for a while because we’re on vacation and she didn't want to ruin it. But now that the truth is out, I’m spiraling. I have no idea what to do, what steps to take, or even how to process this. We have two little kids at home, so everything feels like it's hitting us all at once. To be honest, I don't know much about this disease or how medicine works in general. My wife doesn't want to worry anyone or make a scene, so I have to respect her wishes—which means I can't go digging for every single medical detail, and I'm not even sure how much she actually understands herself.

I am incredibly shaken up right now and feeling absolutely terrible. Can anyone tell me what the survival rates are for this? What kind of risks are we looking at, and what does the recovery look like after the surgery? Also, what should we be doing while we wait for the procedure? How urgent is this really—is it worth trying to push for an earlier date at the hospital?
Any advice at all would mean the world to me because I’m completely lost right now.
Overheating issues in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Quick question for the group. What kind of exercises are you all recommending, and is warming up actually mandatory if I'm doing a strength and toning circuit—you know, stuff like push-ups, crunches, squats, dips, and that whole bit?

To be clear—I won't be running or doing any cardio beforehand. I'm wondering if I can just dive straight into the bodyweight stuff or if I really need a warm-up first. If I do, how essential is it, how long should it take, and what's the deal?
Hey there.

I posted about this around New Year's, and here I am again. It’s happening all over again.
I’m getting that same sensation on the left side of my chest. I wouldn't call it "pain"—especially not constant pain—because it just pops up, lingers for a while, disappears on its own, and then comes back. The timing is totally irregular, so it's hard to pin down, but when it hits hardest, it happens multiple times a day and lasts anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour... Again, let me clarify: it isn't pain. It’s more like a stinging or burning sensation. I don't know how else to describe it, but it's not exactly painful, though it does trigger some nausea, general discomfort, and—honestly—a ton of anxiety. This exact thing happened to me around New Year's for two or three weeks; I wrote about it then too, and eventually ended up seeing a doctor.

Back then, I saw my primary care physician at a local clinic. It wasn't a deep dive—no imaging, no blood work, nothing like that... Just a standard checkup where she asked a few questions. I told her how worried I was, especially since I didn't know what it was or if there were potential heart complications... After checking me out, she was convinced it wasn't my heart. She figured it was most likely stress and anxiety causing certain muscles to tighten up, which explains everything I was feeling. She didn't prescribe anything; she just told me to try thinking positively, get more physically active, and stuff like that... And honestly, it helped—if not physically, then mentally. Those symptoms vanished shortly after that visit.

But now they're back, and they've been acting up for 4 or 5 days now... everything feels almost identical. I’m stuck. Should I go back to the same doctor, seek a second opinion somewhere else, or just try to chill out, start working out, and watch my diet in hopes that it clears up? To be fair, life has been pretty high-stress lately—between work pressure and some family issues... I know stress hits your health directly, but I have no idea how serious this actually is right now. Does anyone have any advice, or has anyone dealt with similar episodes before??
Hey everyone

I’ve been dealing with some personal stuff this past week—stuff I just can't seem to shake—and it’s really getting to me. Usually, when things go sideways, I manage to sort them out, but this time everything hit at once and I'm feeling completely overwhelmed. I've been under massive stress for the last 7–10 days. To make matters worse, the last three days have been brutal; I can't fall asleep at night because my head is spinning, and even when I do pass out, I’m waking up two or three times a night and struggling to drift back off. I’ve never had sleep issues in my entire life until now. On top of all that, for the last couple of days, I've been getting this pain in my stomach—low down near the navel, mostly on the right side. It feels like something is burning inside, and it's definitely not a comfortable sensation.

I'm worried—is this dangerous? Could this be leading to something serious, and what should I be looking out for? First things first, I need to fix these personal issues, but obviously, that doesn't happen overnight, so I'm guessing this stress is going to hang over me for days. Because of that, I really need to know what symptoms to watch for and what to be careful about.

Thanks in advance for any input.
I could really use some advice here. A friend asked me to pick up his dad from the hospital in my car—basically because everyone else is tied up with work or whatever, so the pressure is on me. His dad is battling cancer and just finished a round of radiation; he’s been inpatient for a few days and is finally being discharged. At first, I wasn't sure if I could even make the time, but now I'm spiraling a bit about the risks. Is there any actual danger to me? Could there be lingering radiation traces left in the car that might affect someone else later—like kids sitting in the backseat?

Look, I don't know much about this stuff. It feels awkward to say no since I am actually free that day and technically *could* do it, but honestly, the idea of radiation risk is starting to freak me out. The hospital staff is clearing him for discharge, which presumably means it's safe, but let's be real—you can't always take their word for it these days. One mistake like this could end up hurting people. I feel like this isn't something you should mess around with. So, I'm looking for someone who actually understands the science of this to tell me: is there any real risk involved? The drive would be about an hour long.
I've got this itching on my legs—it hits one specific spot and becomes absolutely unbearable. I end up scratching until I actually break the skin and bleed, and only then does the itch subside a little. Afterward, I'm just left with a bloody scab surrounded by redness. It’s popping up in multiple spots on both legs, mostly above the ankles (I've got about 20 of these little sores/spots on both legs right now), plus one single spot behind the knee. Basically, most of them are clustered above the ankles.

The last time this happened, it was way worse—about 2 or 3 years ago during the summer while we were vacationing in some apartments in Santa Barbara. Someone else in our group dealt with it too. Back then, I ended up with at least 50 sores on both legs; it was excruciating. I looked terrible—just covered in wounds and red patches all over my legs. I originally figured it was just mosquitoes, which seemed like a logical explanation, but mosquito bites usually clear up in a few days—these lasted for weeks. I didn't see a doctor, but if I had known it would be this bad, I definitely would have.

Now, it's happening all over again. Unfortunately, I can't really make it to a doctor right now because of work—I don't have any time off. Since I don't think it's super serious yet, I'd rather figure out what the cause might be first. That way, if things take a turn for the worse, I'll be ready to book an appointment. My fear is that a doctor will just refer me for more tests anyway, which would eat up several days of time I simply don't have. Maybe someone here knows some alternative remedies.

The issue is that the itch returns to those same spots after a few days. Once it flares up in one spot, I scratch until I bleed and then it settles down. A wound and some redness remain, the itch stops for a few days, and then it comes right back to the exact same spot. I scratch it again, bleed again, and then it settles...

From what I can tell, it isn't spreading; I have a maximum of 20 spots total.

I don't think it's mosquitoes since those heal much faster. Could it be fleas or some other insect? I'm worried it might be diabetes, but I don't have any other symptoms—no extreme hunger, no thirst, and I haven't lost any weight over the last few years...🙂

Anyone have a clue what this could be???
New domestic movie releases list in Movies ·
I was thinking we could put together a list of recent films from our neck of the woods and give them some subjective ratings—maybe on a scale of 1 to 10...

In my book, "domestic films" covers everything coming out of the former Yugoslavia—you know, all the stuff from Canada, Mexico and Mexico, Canada, North Mexico, and so on. I realize some people might disagree, but look, I’m not looking for a fight—if you want to argue about definitions, go find a political thread. For me, any good film from our region beats those bloated Hollywood disasters they keep churning out lately. Honestly, I'd much rather sit through a random local flick—even a mediocre one—than endure another predictable, cookie-cutter American blockbuster.

And just to be clear, when I say "new," I mean anything from the war era through the post-war years—basically from 1990 to right now...

So, does anyone want to drop their personal Top 5 domestic films from that timeframe?

Man, what a mess........

I need to track things down..... Does anyone know if those bills sent via USPS actually show up often? I'm asking because I have a massive headache dealing with the mail lately—stuff constantly gets lost or stolen right out of the box... Also, if I pay off a credit card balance early through my Chase app, will they still bother sending a paper statement to my house via the mail??
Quick question about credit cards in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Hey there,

First off, sorry for starting a new thread—not really sure if this is the right spot for these questions. I’m looking to get a Mastercard through my current bank. Since my checking account doesn't allow overdrafts, I figured a credit card is the way to go.

A few questions:

1. How long does it usually take from the moment they approve the Mastercard until I can actually start spending the money?

2. How does the whole thing work? For example, if I charge something—let's say $1000—and I have that grace period where they don't charge interest for about 50 days... does that mean if I pay off the full balance within those 50 days, I won't owe a cent in interest?
Also, what happens if I only pay back $1,000 of that $3,000 and leave $2,000 sitting there?

Can anyone help me out with this??
Unbearable itching in Health ·
I dealt with the exact same thing. For me, it turned out to be my body wash.

I remember it like it was yesterday, even though it was probably 5 or 6 years ago. It was one of those blistering hot summer days and I had a million errands to run all over town. I spent the whole day running around—sweating through my clothes at least five times... By the afternoon, I finally headed home and stopped by a CVS to grab some new shower gel.
Got home, hopped in the shower, but since I was in such a rush—to make matters worse—I didn't even scrub properly...

Just 3 or 4 minutes after getting out of the shower, the madness started. My back began itching like crazy... It was brutal. I was rolling around on my bed and the floor, but nothing worked. I tried showering one more time, but it barely helped. That was my entire day—just pure misery...
After another rinse, the itch returned, just slightly less intense. Once I switched to a different brand of body wash, everything went back to normal.
Random body rash: what could it be? in Health ·
Hey there

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? This is the third summer in a row I've dealt with this. On both my legs—specifically the back of the calves—I'm getting these massive clusters of bites. The itching is absolutely unbearable; it doesn't stop until I basically scratch myself raw and start bleeding.

It happened again this time while I was playing soccer. We were at a field right near a river, and man, it was sweltering and humid out there with mosquitoes everywhere. I could feel them biting immediately. But nothing happened the first day. I just went home, showered, and hit the sack. The itching didn't even kick in until the next day.
It starts in one spot, and I scratch and scratch until the skin breaks. Then the itch dies down for a bit, only to flare up somewhere else. After a few days, I'm looking at at least 50 little sores all over both legs.
This happened last summer and the summer before that, too. It looks terrible—honestly, I look like I'm covered in polka dots.
Is this just mosquitoes, or am I dealing with some kind of allergy?? If it's mosquitoes, why only on my legs? And if it's an allergy, what kind is it and how do I make it stop??

Thanks in advance for any help
Natural cough remedies? Need help ASAP! in Health ·
I know there’s probably already a thread about this somewhere—I’ll try to dig it up—but I really need help fast here...

Can anyone suggest some natural, alternative remedies for a cough?

The person can't take any actual medication—it's strictly natural stuff only at this point—so what actually works to get rid of it or at least dial it back?

Thanks a ton for the help.
Best offshore sportsbooks for online betting? in Betting Forum ·
There are tons of online sportsbooks out there—some good, some pretty terrible. Ultimately, choosing where to play depends entirely on what you’re looking for. Every bookie operates differently. I can offer a few pointers, though.

For instance, if you're looking to play singles or Asian Handicaps—especially if you're moving larger amounts—I'd suggest sticking to Asian books. Personally, though? I don't trust them. I once saw an Asian sportsbook just vanish overnight, taking my money with them. Luckily, my bankroll wasn't as big back then as it is now... but still—how can you trust a Chinese operation when your cash is on the line? Heh. Some European-style books offer Asian Handicaps too, but the odds are usually much worse—think Bet365, Unibet, or PayPal...

If you want to bet on "Both Teams to Score," you should probably look at Expekt, Unibet, Bet365, or Bwin. (Keep in mind, Bwin only offers the "both teams score" option, while the others give you options for specific teams to score or Over/Under markets for a single side). That said, none of these are absolute perfection when you weigh all the factors in.

When it comes to basketball, handball, or volleyball, I think Unibet, Bet365, Bwin, and Nordicbet are your best bets.

But here's the catch: these mainstream books are incredibly quick to limit your account, especially if you start stringing together consecutive wins with decent stakes—particularly on the smaller leagues—and actually hit your bets.

On top of that, the user experience varies wildly. Some sites are smooth, others are a nightmare. For example, Unibet and Expekt are decent enough, but their websites are clunky and totally impractical—just like Bet365. These guys could be much better if they had a high-quality interface like BWIN does.
Now, BWIN has a great website, but they are completely unreliable when it comes to payouts. Nobody wants to gamble with the constant anxiety of wondering if they'll actually get paid. Because of that, I don't recommend BWIN. They screwed me over three different times, refusing to pay out winning bets. Consequently, I only use them for small change. They will NEVER earn my trust, and I'm certainly not dropping more than $10 on a ticket with them—they haven't earned it.

Unibet is actually a solid choice for mid-range stakes, but like I mentioned, their site is painfully slow and just isn't functional. Everything else is fine, but the tech holds them back. Same goes for Bet365.

Nordicbet is good in many ways, but their selection might be a bit thin, and they tend to set much lower limits than the other big players.
Lower back pain help? in Health ·
Hey everyone...

Yesterday was the first time in my life I actually felt back pain. It isn't unbearable—it doesn't hurt *that* much—but honestly, I’m freaking out a bit. I know how many people deal with this stuff and how easily it turns into a chronic nightmare. Since this is the first time it's ever happened to me, I want to nip it in the bud if possible. I really don't want to be dealing with serious issues ten years down the road.

My job is mostly administrative—I’m stuck in an office chair for 8 hours a day—and then I come home and spend even more time hunched over my computer. I know, I know, it’s terrible for you, but I guess I finally got the wake-up call I needed. I’ve always been active and played sports, so I’ve never had issues like this before. But lately—especially during the winter months—I barely exercise and I'm pretty sedentary. Yesterday, the pain started in my lower back (just above the glutes), and today it seems to have migrated up toward the middle. It’s most noticeable when I lie down...

Any advice, recommendations, or even just your best guesses at what's going on would be greatly appreciated... Thanks a lot...
