Melissa Stewart6 said:Actually, there is plenty of insulting going on. Not every insult has to involve a swear word to count.

Well, I certainly feel a bit slighted myself! Though, I guess you could argue whether that feeling stems from the perceived insults or just the bluntness of the facts being presented.

It reminds me of something Ricky Gervais might say—just because your feelings are hurt, it doesn't necessarily mean you're in the right.

I really feel like I should apologize to Sigmund for labeling him as the mastermind behind Parsifal's shot. After digging a bit deeper into this whole situation, I'm starting to think the actual mastermind might be hiding right here at this link

hiddenpuma75 said:6) Honestly, I don't care about the people on this forum as individuals, any more than I’d care about characters in a novel. 😲
I wish everyone nothing but the best in life, truly, but whether they sense it intuitively or see it plainly, some users realize I'm not interested in them as "people" or social cliques. What fascinates me is their ideas, our dialogues, and seeing where this novel—which we are collectively writing and calling this forum—is actually headed.

7) At the end of the day, people are mostly concerned with themselves, aren't they? They care about their own identity far more than they care about abstract ideas or some random guy like hiddenpuma75 who happens to get under their skin, leading them to hunt for ways to write him out of the story entirely. 😉

8) People can always tell when someone doesn't care about them PERSONALLY—when that person treats them like mere NPCs in a simulation, which inevitably throws them off balance. 😲

But they seem to forget that hiddenpuma75 is also just part of the SIMULATION ! 😉

And if that person dares to challenge their WORLDVIEW, they start retaliating in every way possible.

9) It's a messy web of emotions: a war of ideologies, a clash of personalities, different levels of reality... it's like a Holodeck program gone wild.

10) So, essentially, I am having a wonderful time here. 🎉 I'm learning. I'm giving and taking.
I'm exploring. I'm playing. I'm writing a novel. I am living the novel.

And that drives some people absolutely crazy. They go looking for any way—legal or otherwise—to stop my good time and my fun. To halt it. To destroy it. To erase it!

It’s that primal human impulse—

as if they could trample all over me and this persona I play on the forum, even though they couldn't care less about whether I'm happy or enjoying myself. 😠

NOT ON MY WATCH, YOU BANDITS! 😠

Exactly my thoughts.

Though, if I'm being honest, what irritates me most is the sheer laziness and lack of imagination shown by those who try to get rid of you. Their whole approach seems to be nothing more than brute force. And, no offense intended, but you strike me as someone who could easily be subtly manipulated or baited until you end up driving yourself straight into a permanent ban.

Personally, I've always been against rewarding laziness.👍

Melissa Stewart6 said:Haven't you heard the saying that quality matters more than quantity?

Well, didn't Joseph Stalin once argue that quantity actually becomes its own form of quality? I suppose that’s something Parsifal's critics really ought to keep in mind. 😛

Melissa Stewart6 said:What I mean to say is, are you suggesting I was just arguing with myself?

It’s either that, or maybe we're looking at one permanently banned clone reporting another permanently banned clone.👍

rowdyangler said:Trolls like you, you mean? I'll give you that.

Your whole "contribution" to this thread can basically be boiled down to suggesting an ignore, claiming Parsifal needs to be "driven out," and finally insisting the forum "has bigger problems."

With all three points, you didn't just miss the mark—you missed the entire stadium.
In the end, you actually managed to get under my skin enough to make me deal with your pathetic presence on this board.

My apologies to Parsifal for getting off track. But yeah, there are definitely users here who need a permanent ban much more than he does, if that makes you feel any better. 😁

How lame. 😁

I was actually under the impression you were away on vacation; at least, that’s what hiddenpuma75 seemed to hint at in one of his posts over on Philosophy. 🤣

Melissa Stewart6 said:But apparently, Sabovic's clone hiddenpuma75 didn't bother anyone, lol

And honestly, I think Jaran's dad is even more intense—he registered after Sabovic was banned from the forum, yet somehow, by some strange trick, he seems to know the entire history of everything Sabovic ever did😁

Casey Bennett said:The user who pointed out that hiddenpuma75 was spamming wasn't actually asking for his permanent ban. Quite the opposite, really.

I wasn't just referring to that one specific person, though. There are others too. For instance, take this user who writes:

I would honestly love it if one of the moderators could just wipe all of Parsifal's posts from this thread—and maybe even from other threads as they relate to me—and just give him a PERMANENT BAN FROM PHILOSOPHY.
Please, I'm begging!

Casey Bennett said:Why on earth would anyone need to put him on ignore? Just because someone finds the constant spamming annoying doesn't mean they aren't interested in the actual content being shared.
One simply needs to adhere to the basic standards of conduct for a public medium like this forum and stop flooding threads with repetitive posts. If you want a perfect example of how absolutely *not* to behave on a forum, hiddenpuma75 provided one right here in this thread.

Well, if you're already looking to get someone permanently banned from the site, I guess it only makes sense to try the ignore button first before taking such a radical step. I mean, if you actually care about what someone is contributing, then you should probably just deal with their specific style—no matter how much it bugs you—rather than demanding they be kicked out entirely.

As for the forum rules, it feels a bit silly to even bring them up when they seem to be applied so inconsistently anyway. Over the last couple of years, and especially in these last few months, I feel like this whole place has gone completely off the rails. There is just endless spamming, trolling, provocation, clone accounts, and rule-breaking happening everywhere you look. It seems like most of the moderators don't really care at all; they might keep an eye on a few big, popular threads, but everything else seems to be totally neglected.

The only threads that stay active are the ones where the same old crowd hangs out together. They almost act like a pack of hyenas, being incredibly territorial whenever someone new tries to join the conversation.

The forum has much bigger issues to deal with than just Parsifal. He isn't vulgar, and he isn't crude. Nor is he such a massive spammer or troll that he deserves to be silenced forever. In my opinion, the attacks against him feel very personal and ideologically driven, which seems pretty obvious to me.

What you think makes things more readable actually makes it harder for me as a reader to follow along.

Plus, it's a pain to skip over someone's content when they drop five posts in a row; habit makes you scroll from post to post, not from one username to the next.😁

So, yeah, the answer is yes—it bothers me. Can you change how you do it?

I suppose once you put someone on ignore, the whole argument about readability kind of loses its meaning. 😁

If someone is truly bothering you, you can just use the ignore tool. It’s as simple as that!

I suppose, if you look at the last few posts, he might have actually figured it out himself 😬

hiddenpuma75 said:Honestly, at this hour, I haven't the slightest clue who you're talking about. So, why don't you introduce us to this "grand jury" of yours? You've got the judge, the prosecutor, and then there's me, sitting here in the defendant's chair.

Actually, I think there are certain things you just have to figure out on your own, 😁 and I guess I won't be getting involved in this anymore. 👍

hiddenpuma75 said:Melissa Stewart6 actually managed to boil down the entire essence of our philosophy department in just one sentence

If hiddenpuma75 were busy mocking religions, tearing into capitalism, and waxing poetic about the "glory days" of the old communist era—just like Sandra Murphy33 and her crew seem to suggest—then he’d actually fit right in with them.

We really need to find a way to stop hiddenpuma75, because honestly, he’s just not one of us!

And that is essentially the entire "conflict" happening in the philosophy department!

Everything else is just smoke, mirrors, and linguistic gymnastics.
😉

Well, I suppose you're more or less right about everything. It's just that the people carrying out the hit aren't nearly as important as the person who actually ordered it—and you aren't even pointing a finger at them. Instead, you're just standing there looking like a total mess in the middle of a crowded room. It's so obvious that even an occasional lurker on this forum, like me, can see it.

Everyone has their own unique way of putting pen to paper, and I truly believe his style is quite distinct. But honestly, calling it Spam feels like such a stretch. If someone actually took the time to dig through his posts, looking closely at the nuances and the broader context, I suspect they’d find it incredibly rewarding. His writing is really more like a gourmet meal for those who appreciate the finer points of digital discourse. In my opinion, the people attacking him are just being intellectually lazy—they don't want to put in the mental heavy lifting and instead expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. It’s honestly quite disheartening to see how he’s being treated. He’s easily one of the most insightful contributors to our philosophical discussions. If this forum were to ban him, I think it would truly hit rock bottom.
Laptop USB port replacement/repair help in IT Support ·
fadedbear92 said:Hi everyone!

I was wondering if I could get some advice or maybe a recommendation from you all. So, the USB port on my laptop has gotten a bit loose, and now the mouse plug just kind of wobbles around in there, which means I keep losing the connection constantly.

Do you think the only real fix is to have the USB port replaced on the laptop itself? And if that is the case, I wonder how much that might end up costing me? Also, does anyone happen to know a reliable repair shop in the western part of Los Angeles that they would recommend?

Thanks so much!🙂

Maybe try grabbing a screwdriver and gently tightening the port on the laptop side, and then perhaps you could slightly widen the connector on the mouse itself.

Justin Garcia7 said:We live in an era that supposedly champions liberalism and free speech, yet somehow, people have never been more easily offended by differing opinions.

Even self-proclaimed classical liberals—those who preach maximum freedom and tolerance—often act like tyrants toward anyone they disagree with. You see it all over social media: people blocking anyone with a different view, claiming that silencing dissent is somehow "liberal."

There are even plenty of high-profile CEOs and successful professionals who waste their precious time bickering with anonymous trolls online, simply because they don't share the same ideology.

It seems everyone is only "liberal" when it suits them; everyone thinks they're right and can't stand someone challenging their worldview.

Usually, religious fanatics are the first to come to mind, but fanaticism isn't just about faith. It exists everywhere. In reality, we’re all fanatics for our own beliefs, each trying to push our own specific agenda.

So, what’s the fix? How do we actually achieve true tolerance? Or is it impossible because we're all too busy viewing everything through our own narrow lens?

I remember reading in this book about warfare and its underlying causes (I can't recall the title or author off the top of my head, though I could probably look it up later!), that everything might actually boil down to chemistry—specifically oxytocin. It supposedly has this dual effect where it reinforces your own convictions while simultaneously ramping up your aversion to opposing views. I guess the more you love one thing, the more you end up hating anything different; it’s almost like one cannot exist without the other. So, if that's the case, maybe the only real solution would be total indifference. But then again, if we were all truly indifferent, I suppose even hatred wouldn't really be a big deal anymore.
PC won't boot - help needed in Desktops ·
Andrew Hill18 said:My PC was running hot for a long time because of overheating issues. I finally noticed it since my son uses it, so I blew out all the dust. Temperatures went back to normal, but then the thing started shutting itself down constantly. So today, I did a full overhaul—new thermal paste, deep clean, and I swapped in a new SSD since the old one went into a different rig. Now I’m stuck with boot problems. When I hit the power button, it kicks on for a second, dies, then tries again a few seconds later, but it won't always boot—sometimes there's just no signal. When I actually get a picture, I keep getting those messages saying the computer couldn't boot several times in a row and that I need to fix the BIOS settings. I'm guessing the overheating might have fried something... maybe the motherboard or the CPU. Anyone got any advice on what I should do? Thanks, guys.

Maybe you should check the CMOS battery.

How do I upload images and videos to the forum? in Forum Help! ·
I’ve been trying to upload a photo lately, but for some reason, the forum seems to be stretching or enlarging the image instead of just displaying it exactly how it looks in the original file. Does anyone happen to know why this might be happening?
