Horror movieology! in Movies ·
Ahhhh !!!! My absolute favorite genre! 😁 Look, first off, let’s just shut down those endless debates where people go, "Oh, this horror movie isn't scary..." or "this one sucks..." or "it's too much like this..." Ugh! Honestly, I have zero interest in getting bogged down in those kinds of arguments! 😉 We can settle that once and for all by asking: why isn't certain horror scary anymore? It's simple: we aren't living in the 70s or the 80s anymore, and even that specific 90s vibe is losing its grip on us! 😉 What I mean is, all those tropes that used to keep us up at night back then? Today, they look—at the very least—kind of ridiculous and totally unbelievable. Especially when you can turn on the news and see actual footage of extremists or insurgents committing horrific acts against Americans... and then it just comes full circle... American soldiers firing high-end, polished M-16s at unarmed women... children... innocent people... 😢 Anyway, enough of that dark stuff...
Back on subject!

HELLRAISER I, II, III
EVIL DEAD TRILOGY
THE OMEN
BRAINDEAD
BAD TASTE
ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS
THE BEYOND
NIGHTBREED
DEMONS
HALLOWEEN
HOUSE
THE HOWLING
THE FOG
LIFEFORCE
NEAR DARK
PET SEMATARY
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD III
SLEEPWALKERS
THE SOCIETY

There... that's the list!!! Happy scaring! 😁

Brian Foster2 said:I see them as basically the next Audioslave!

It’s a decent enough blend, I guess, though honestly, it could have been much better than this!

Oh boy... here we go again with the comparisons! 🙂 It's funny how that works, right? Like, I absolutely live for Rage Against the Machine... I'm just not really feeling the Soundgarden vibe... and as for Audioslave? Well, they're alright, I suppose! 👍
Forgotten (2004) in Movies ·
Absolutely phenomenal garbage... if you’re looking for a way to flush about $5.00 down the toilet, this is definitely your best bet! 😉 First off, the trailer looks incredibly promising, which sets you up perfectly for the inevitable disappointment when the movie starts out decent and then quickly devolves into a subpar episode of the Twilight Zone—and I mean one of the really bad ones! 😉 Honestly, what on earth was Moorika even doing acting in this thing? 😲 It remains a total mystery to me! 😢 Just know that you can all thank me later for saving you the cash! 😉
Velvet Revolver in Music ·
Hmm... let me think about this... I’ve always had a soft spot for Stone Temple Pilots... but man, I just can't stand Guns N' Roses... 😉 As for Velvet Revolver, they're just sort of floating around in my periphery... neither here nor there... 🙄
Big Fish in Movies ·
I’ve been watching, just watching away! 😉 Honestly, I have to admit, it felt a little surreal seeing a Tim Burton film bursting with all this color and lacking that signature dark edge he’s known for—you know? But even so, it’s still unmistakably Burton; I’d go as far as to say he’s actually at the top of his game here! 😎

Oh, man... you guys have seriously lost the plot here, haven't you? 🙂

There we go! Does that make you feel any better now!? 😁
Anime Recommendations? in Movies ·
Look, I’ll just come out and say it—to me, *Akira* is absolute garbage! 🙂
Anime Recommendations? in Movies ·
Well... I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a die-hard fanatic, but honestly? Everything I've managed to watch has been absolutely top-tier! 👍

Ghost in the Shell
Princess Mononoke
Ninja Resurrection
Vampire Hunter D

😎
The Mary Magdalene Sisters in Movies ·
Honestly, if you find yourself with some downtime on your hands and you've got a craving for some top-tier drama, I’d say go ahead and give it a watch! 😉
The Mary Magdalene Sisters in Movies ·
Good grief, that movie left me absolutely reeling... 😲 The casting was just masterfully executed... personally, I felt like all the girls were completely raw and vulnerable... such a gripping story... and the way they filmed it, it had this incredible, almost documentary-style grit to it... 😉
The Grudge (2004) in Movies ·
I just finished watching the original Ju-On, and I have to be honest—while the cinematography was brilliant and the atmosphere was absolutely thick, I walked away feeling a bit underwhelmed... 😢 Between all those murky flashbacks and the way new characters just suddenly pop into the narrative out of nowhere, I found myself getting completely lost... I mean, I suspect the average viewer might lose interest halfway through... not to mention how convoluted the actual plot is; if you aren't paying rapt attention to every single detail, you're going to miss things entirely... 😉 It’s one of those movies that sits right on the fence, neither great nor terrible... 🙂

nimbleangler34 said:It’s actually a really solid flick. Personally, it's one of my favorites—partly because of the subject matter, and partly just because I have a soft spot for French cinema.

Jack, I'm right there with you! 😉 I found the ending a little bit underwhelming, if I'm being honest, but man, what a great movie overall. Goldman Sachs really knocked it out of the park!
Garfield in Movies ·
It’s a done deal! To me, James Garfield looks absolutely spot on! That critic is truly phenomenal—fingers crossed they don't completely wreck the movie! If it ends up being something along the lines of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, it might actually be pretty hilarious! 😛
Narc (Joe Carnahan) in Movies ·

It’s like if you go out and swipe some tomatoes from over there, grab some potatoes from up there, snatch a cob of corn from down on the right, maybe a zucchini or a carrot... then you head back to your own garden, toss it all in a pot, and suddenly you’ve got yourself a stew. But let's be honest—it isn't a real stew without the meat.😁

Oh, come on, that's exactly like saying: It's just another cheap way to get serviced! 😉
Shrek or Monsters, Inc.? in Movies ·
Oh man, it is such a tough call to make! While I love the story and the animation in Shrek, I have to say Monsters, Inc. just takes the win because the lineup of characters is so much more hilarious and clever! 😛
Narc (Joe Carnahan) in Movies ·
storytelj said:...not even close...

I have to be honest here—I haven't actually sat down and watched the movie yet! 😉 But, seeing as everyone is raving about it being a top-tier crime flick, and let's face it, those kinds of gritty dramas are becoming a rare breed in theaters these days, I think I’ll just force myself to head to the cinema and catch it! 😛
Narc (Joe Carnahan) in Movies ·
storytelj said:Hebeno is a solid flick about some pretty crooked cops.. Patric & Liotta are stellar; this is easily Liotta's best turn since Goodfellas, and I don't think I've ever seen Jason Patric in such top-tier form.. As far as the plot goes, it feels a bit stretched at times—it was a total 10/10 until those last 20 minutes hit, then there's this slight dip... some of the twists feel a little forced (I have a similar gripe with the ending of Training Day, though Narc is the better movie overall), but it’s not enough to ruin the whole experience... For me, one of the standout moments is when Liotta talks to Patric about his late wife; they're sitting in the car, it's winter outside.. you can just barely hear crows in the distance, and the musical score is subtle yet absolutely perfect.. The film feels grounded, with characters living right on the edge... oh, and it features several very convincing beating scenes (Liotta gets a bit wild when he catches someone and loses his temper, swinging his hands all over the place 😉)

8.5/10

Alright, so in other words, we're looking at a mashup of L.A. Confidential & Training Day? Only this time, Liotta's character is giving off major Russell Crowe & Patric vibes while Patric's character feels like he stepped straight out of Training Day? Hmmm, is there actually anything fresh here? 😉

Absolutely stunning film! 😉 It’s one of those rare cinematic experiences that stays lodged in your brain for years—honestly, you could spend hours just sitting there, deconstructing it and mulling over every single scene! And don't even get me started on the emotional payoff; it leaves you with such an incredible, warm, feel-good glow. Simply magnificent!
