Living with one kidney in Health ·
A tumor is basically... any kind of warning sign from your body, right? Like, it's telling you that something in your lifestyle isn't working out... and if you actually care about yourself, you probably need to change things up...
So, I guess you really ought to swap out some old habits... and I'm not just talking about what you eat, but how much you move, too (get outside more, seriously). Even your mindset matters—you gotta ditch whatever is stressing you out, try to enjoy each day, hang out with good friends, find what makes you happy, maybe even pick up a new hobby or something...
As for food... honestly, everyone would be better off cutting back on white sugar. Use whole grains whenever you can, stick to cold-pressed oils, and for milk, maybe try oat milk or just go with local dairy... plus, obviously, plenty of fruits and veggies. For meat, keep it light—chicken or turkey, maybe, and eat a lot of fish...
Drink enough water... don't go overboard on alcohol (I mean, one glass of decent wine won't kill anyone), and stay away from cigarettes...
Good luck!
Breathing and Digestion in Health ·
😕....I don't know....when I'm feeling crappy... I just go see a doctor....and if they can't figure it out - I move on to the next one....someone's gonna get it eventually
back when my kidney issues first started acting up....I went through GI, cardiology, and... a few others too....until they finally realized it was actually my kidneys....
that dragged on....for quite a while....🤷....why does it feel like nephrologists are always the last ones called when someone's actually sick?
I really hope you get some help and start feeling better soon....🙂

Good grief! 🙂

I’m guessing your doctors probably told you to stick to a diet that doesn't cause gas... you know, avoiding stuff like beans, cabbage, or broccoli... and maybe if you actually followed that advice... it might not be a bad idea to head over to a specialist and get your thyroid checked out too. It might not be anything, but still—just check it.
Good luck!
What's even the point of it all? in Psychology ·
Angela Wright said:Here’s why:
Look, you have the entire world laid out in front of you. You've got every possible chance to move past this and eventually meet someone who actually carries more weight in your life than she ever did.
You’ve tasted real pain. That’s just how it works—it's all part of the school of hard knocks.
We’re currently looking out for a 24-year-old guy who’s fighting a losing battle against cancer. It’s brutal—they already had to amputate his leg, but the disease has spread everywhere, and there’s really no coming back from this. He looks like a walking skeleton, yet somehow, his eyes are still absolutely brimming with life. He lost both of his parents during the war, leaving him with nothing but his sister to lean on. Honestly, he’s probably the happiest man on the planet right now just because we managed to bypass all the red tape and get him the oxygen he needs after some bureaucratic nightmare denied his request. He isn't suffocating anymore, so he's happy. He’s only 24, hasn't truly tasted life yet, and he just wants a chance to live.
Just give thanks to God that you're healthy and still have your whole life ahead of you. Everything happens for a reason—if that girl was truly meant to be yours, you two would still be together.
Life is unpredictable, and you can find yourself staring down a massive pivot point in the blink of an eye.
Everything is going to work out. You just need to give yourself some breathing room and start living every single day like it’s your last. Get out of the house, get active, find a volunteer gig, or lend a hand to someone who’s struggling more than you are. Maybe even sign up for a class. It’s all about getting back out there—that’s how you meet new people who might actually become real friends.
You have total freedom to do whatever you want. Don't just sit there—actually make something of it!

I haven't read anything this beautiful in a long time... seriously, props to you! 👍
🤔 hey, hey... let me tell you what really gets under my skin about people...

ugh... honestly? when someone doesn't have a single original thought in their head, or they're just straight-up hypocrites. And don't even get me started on the loudmouths who refuse to actually listen, the total bores, the jealous types, or the aggressive ones...
man... I guess there's just way too much of all that bullshit piled up for me...🙂
Choosing who we fall for? It’s impossible to decide. It just happens, I guess... or it doesn't. And now... do you stay... or do you walk away? That's the hard part because there are so many factors. Mostly, it comes down to our own maturity and character, plus how heavy the illness actually is and if the person is even willing to stick to the treatment plan...
I know two families here in my city that chose love and stayed together despite the illness present in the family (close relatives), even though the healthy partners faced pushback from their own kin. In one family, they had kids who ended up struggling with mental health issues themselves... in the other, the kids are fine, but the wife and mother is sick and honestly isn't really capable of taking care of the household... From what I can see, neither of those are happy families... though, I suppose what that means is subjective... because there's this constant fear of the future... what happens to those kids when the parents are gone? What happens to the mother and wife if the family drifts away from their support system? 🤷
Sure, medicine is moving forward and finding better ways to keep diseases under control, but... somehow... seeing these examples, I think I'd rather be with someone who is healthy... even if people call me selfish for it...
Someone mentioned Alzheimer, which I think I spelled right, and it's a terrifying disease because it anyone can get it, and it's awful how it slowly turns a person into an empty shell... If I were with someone who developed that specific disease, I'd stay by their side for as long as I could actually be helpful...
I hope people with mentally ill family members don't take this personally, but for me, knowing that would be an insurmountable hurdle.
Breaking the Waves in Movies ·
Ugh, one of those movies you’d almost rather just forget because of the subject matter... but honestly, given everything else—especially the acting—that’s just impossible. It’s an exceptional film...
Switching up your whole lifestyle or diet is basically a shock to the system if you're used to the old way. So... I guess you should probably take it easy when you start exercising more if you haven't before, or when trying to eat cleaner. Personally? I wouldn't give up any food entirely. Sugar actually serves a purpose. If nothing else, it helps your mood. 😉
Look, taking care of your health matters, but there's no need to go overboard right away......🙂
Vague symptoms—help! in Health ·
It sounds like your thyroid is basically screaming at you. Like... giving you a little reminder she's still there. 🙂
Look, look. I get it, this isn't funny. But if I were you? I’d head straight to the doctor to get some bloodwork done—check those antibodies and hormones.

p.s. Ever since my thyroid issues started, I can't handle even the tiniest bit of pressure or stress without it flaring up to remind me. And I used to be fine with everything... crazy, right?
Dry / Chapped Lips in Health ·
Honestly, I've found that just using plain old butter worked better for me more times than I can count. 🙂
Brittle, peeling nails: any tips? in Health ·
Hey. 🙂

For me, back in the day, soaking my fingers in lukewarm olive oil every morning and night actually helped. I can't even remember exactly how long I did it, but maybe try it for a week or two?
Good luck.
Amnesia and other memory disorders in Health ·
Something’s bothering you, maybe... you're just burnt out... or on some crazy crash diet?
Try some relaxation exercises... maybe yoga... or something that actually makes you happy...
If this keeps up—go see your primary care doctor and get a referral for blood work (could be an iron deficiency) or even hit up a neurologist. If everything comes back fine, it might be your kidneys acting up... who knows, there are a million possibilities...🙂Good luck.
I'm starving! in Health ·
Damn. 🙂

It's just pure gasoline.
Rabies scare: Animal bite! in Health ·
😲 This is bad!!!... You don't mean a cat actually bit her like that, right? Get her to a doctor. NOW!!! Don't wait.

Yeah, she needs treatment.
Look.🙂

First off, you gotta be honest with yourself. Are you actually overeating to the point where it's all on you, or... maybe this is an endocrinologist thing? It’s possible your thyroid is acting up, just like mine did, and that's why the weight is piling on. If that's the case—go see your doctor and get a referral for blood work sent out to a lab. In the States, it takes maybe two weeks to get results back, and... well, you just follow whatever your doctor tells you.
But if it's the first thing I said... then you have to change your lifestyle. Now... should you go to some fancy institute or whatever? Honestly, I wouldn't. It's summer. Just go swim. The ocean, a lake, Cleveland, a pool... doesn't matter.
Once fall hits, you could try yoga if that's your thing, or aerobics, or Pilates. Maybe join a hiking club. The main thing is moving. Just move as much as possible.
Forget fast food places and all those greasy chains. Cook your own meals. Stick to cooked food more than grilled stuff. Eat more veggies, fruit, chicken, fish. Drink enough fluids—I mean soups, plain water, tea. You can have sweets too, just don't overdo it. The worst thing is when you start craving everything at once. That's how you fail. Good luck.
God. 🙂
There’s this old-school remedy that works best if you slap it on the joint right after you get hurt. I don't know if it's too late for you now, but... maybe give it a shot.
Whisk an egg white with a pinch of salt, soak a bandage in some whiskey, then spread that whisked egg white over the soaked wrap. Just, uh, make sure you don't wrap it too tight, because this mixture is gonna turn into a hard cast, kind of like plaster. Keep it on for a few hours while you rest, then swap it out. Do that maybe 2 or 3 times. Oh, and you could probably whip up a little sauce using a yolk, some sugar, and a splash of rum—that should definitely cheer you up. Good luck.
Symptoms... headaches, dizziness... in Health ·
look... I wouldn't have put up with symptoms like that for even a single week without seeing my primary care doctor. But you actually managed to drag it out for two whole years! What is wrong with you?
No offense intended, but... seriously, go see your doctor. They'll know what the next steps should be.
Take care.
Motion sickness while driving in Health ·
velvetgull9 said:Back when everyone was mass migrating from America to far-off lands at the turn of the century, doctors on those long ocean voyages noticed something weird—mostly adults were getting seasick, while kids seemed totally fine. Turns out, those folks coming from the northern and western parts of the US were packing plenty of gingerbread cookies, which the kids were snacking on constantly. And hey, ginger is still a super legit way to fight nausea today!

Maybe give it a shot. 😉

P.S: placidjackal36, go take a stroll! If people want even less nausea, they can just tie a red bandana around their big toe, so I guess you should try to be happy about that 😉

🙏🙏🙏 Way to go, Cats!

Jeffrey Martin46 said:There was some talk going on about abortion, so if you haven't read through it yet, maybe some of that info could actually help you out?!

I don't think I need to lecture you or keep saying "don't do it, don't do it." You're the one who knows best if this is what you need to do or not! Just... I don't know, really think about whether this is truly the only way out (and man, I really hope it isn't) so you aren't left feeling regretful later on.

I'm crossing my fingers that whatever path you take, you won't have any regrets.

Best, 👍

Kudos to you!!!!!
