I've got this logical knot in my head regarding the movie, though I haven't actually sat down to rewatch it yet. Usually, I can just shrug off stuff like liquid levels shifting between shots or objects randomly appearing and vanishing from a room, but blatant logic gaps like this one are a harder pill to swallow.
Basically:
In the first part of the film, during that hearing for the unlucky pilot, they show the footage he recorded—the exact footage he expected would prove his story about seeing a massive "child." But there was nothing on that recording.
Later on, though, it turns out that these manifestations aren't just felt by the people they're coming from; they're physically tangible, visible to others, and even capable of being captured on camera, like in that message left by the guy who took his own life.
Is there some kind of logical way to make sense of this discrepancy?
Interesting flick. People in this thread are acting all high and mighty about how there wasn't enough skin shown, but honestly, anyone complaining about a lack of eroticism probably would've been perfectly satisfied with some trashy flick titled "Young and Filthy" playing at the local video rental shop last night.
A real conversation about the movie barely even got off the ground. It’s pretty wild how much the film plays with these weird little glitches and odd details—like water leaking out of an aquarium, a shirt stained with blood "seven years after the injury," or those cars... which look exactly like something straight out of 2001... I guess if you believe everything you read online, though I can't be sure since I watched it without subtitles—and let me tell you, the subtitles were basically just "translating" dialogue that the characters didn't even actually say!
So, basically, unknown asked for help, and this person rushed in to slap on a diagnosis—what was it again, "egoistic psychotic"?—but then they just refused to actually treat him, choosing instead to dump that diagnosis on you so you could post it online... Honestly, someone needs to put a warning out there for all the former, current, and future patients of that "reputable" psychiatrist!
hollowseal33 said:and since I already told you this person is SUPER close to me, it means I’m going to hear things nobody else gets to hear, plus I can't just go around insulting them without consequences!!!!
Well, unknown is also close to someone, so maybe you should've thought twice before broadcasting all that nonsense by using his full name.
If you ever find yourself dealing with some serious skin issues and decide to seek help from a "top-tier" dermatologist—just like you did with that psychiatrist—you’ll probably finally see things clearly.
hollowseal33 said:I probably shouldn't be saying this since I'm just some random person on the internet, but I have someone in my immediate family who's a psychiatrist—a really good one, actually—and plenty of people have gone to him for therapy, including Nate Dogg... and his take on Nate Dogg was something along the lines of being an egoistic psychotic (I can't quite recall the exact diagnosis).
If that doctor were actually any good, you wouldn't even know Nate Dogg had ever stepped foot in his office, let alone be sitting here knowing his private diagnosis.

Man, Kevin Chavez3, you just don't get it...
The Police are cool, obviously, but in that gritty punk scene, they somehow managed to fuse high-brow poetic ambitions with raw, primal energy, and what's actually impressive is how they figured out where to take that sound next. They’re true artists 😛
Think along the lines of something Better Change, Strange Little Girl, those tracks about desire, and that absolutely massive cover of Walk on by.
It’s basically a horror story about pure mediocrity, though you could also see it as this tender look at the aches and pains of getting old, and while Schmidt is simultaneously repulsive and somehow endearing—kind of like a Kafkaesque version of Homer Simpson—the grossness definitely wins out.
Bottom line, if some American distributor actually printed and handed out flyers like that, they should be facing criminal charges—not because the content isn't incredibly stupid, which it is, but because it’s just straight-up malicious propaganda.
Joe said:So, Joe and his parrot are flying on a plane, right? This flight attendant comes by and asks what they want to drink. "Whiskey," Joe says. She loses it, yelling, "Are you out of your minds? Don't you realize we're in the middle of a war? You should just be grateful you're even on this plane!" Joe just shrugs and goes, "Fine, then just bring me a soda." Then she turns to the parrot and asks him what he wants. The parrot snaps back, "Stop wasting my damn time! Just hurry up and bring me a whiskey on the rocks!" The attendant runs to the pilot to complain about these weirdos, but the pilot tells her to just give them what they want before they start making a scene. So, the stewardess brings them their drinks—whiskey for the bird, soda for Joe. Joe gets pissed and yells at the girl, "What's your problem? Whiskey for the damn bird and soda for me? Get me a whiskey too, dammit!" The attendant runs straight to the pilot, who just opens the door and tosses both Joe and the parrot out of the plane. As they're plummeting toward the ground, the parrot looks at Joe and asks, "Hey Joe, do you actually know how to fly?" Joe says, "No." The parrot replies, "Then why the hell did you come along? "
When those gray, depressing mornings start creeping in through the hazy, empty stretches of an April sky and you just can't find the energy to be the badass you know you are,
Thou shalt come to me oh my beloved little Pontiac, breathe some life into my soul and drive away the red shadow of Unknown that haunts me through these endless, nauseating nights,

So yeah, doesn't that pretty much tell you everything you need to know about them?
So you're telling me a guy who's obsessed with Bob Dylan is actually worth dating? 🙄
