Eric Fox7 said:I can't quite put my finger on why, but I’ve got a gut feeling we're looking at a total blowout in today's matchup between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid... 🤷
It isn't really surprising when you look at the numbers; in seven of their last ten outings, there have been at least three goals scored—and in every single one of those seven instances, both sides found the back of the net. Even more telling, in seventeen of their last eighteen meetings, there’s been at least two goals...

Real Madrid (-3+) vs Atletico Madrid: X2 @ 1.5 (9/10 success rate) (SS)
Real Madrid (-3+) vs Atletico Madrid: 2 @ 2.30 (6/10 success rate) (SS)
Both teams to score: Yes @ 1.85 (7/10 success rate) (HL)

And if the scoring starts flowing, it’ll likely be coming from Cristiano and Falcao, who are easily the most dangerous strikers on the pitch this season...

C.R. scores @ 1.70 (8/10 success rate) (HL)
Falcao scores @ 2.70 (6/10 success rate) (HL)

The books are even offering some interesting lottery-style options for players to score in both halves, with decent payouts:

C.R. scores in both halves @ 7.55 (2/10 success rate) (HL)
Falcao scores in both halves @ 22.00 (1/10 success rate) (HL)

Over at DraftKings, they have a pretty intriguing proposition where both teams score in both halves:

Both teams to score in both halves: Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid @ 10.20 (1/10 success rate)

As per my usual style, I think I'll try a runner...

Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid: Half-time/Full-time 2/1 @ 27 (3/10 success rate) (DK)

FanDuel has an option for Atletico to lead at halftime and Real to win the game @ 8, though I’m hesitant to chase that one—it’s happened twice in their last four games, and three times in the last seven...

Don't you think 45 units might be a bit excessive for a single game, especially since these parlays wipe out completely if the match stays 0-0? Of course, anything can happen, but I just wonder what kind of percentage of your total bankroll that represents...

Man, what a disaster of a bet and an even worse feeling—I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been playing out of form lately—but luckily, some other game managed to save
the day. Still, I was fully invested in this matchup, just completely all-in on 🤷

This might be one of my biggest fails yet, but honestly, anyone actually watching the game saw how many opportunities we missed 😢

Hey, can someone explain why the odds look like this for the match between Verona and Empoli?

image

I know people say games in Italy are rigged half the time, but there’s zero logic here for a draw to benefit either side. Verona is sitting in second—the last direct spot for promotion—and they're only one point ahead of third-place Livorno. Meanwhile, Empoli is locked in fourth. A win is absolutely vital for Verona right now.🤷

Verona’s basically got a golden ticket to the big leagues right now—they’re sitting on enough points to stay safe because Sassuolo and Livorno are busy fighting each other, which means neither can actually catch up to them.
It works out perfectly for Empoli, too. If they slip up and Livorno manages to pull off an upset against Sassuolo, the whole playoff scenario becomes irrelevant—there wouldn't even be a tiebreaker needed since the gap between third and fourth would be a massive 10 points.

Still, if I were placing a bet, I’d probably lean toward option one—assuming our local sportsbooks haven't scrubbed it from the menu yet.

The same logic applies to Empoli—if they lose and Livorno pulls off an upset at Sassuolo, there won't even be a playoff bracket to worry about because the gap between third and fourth would be a massive 10 points.

Personally, I’d probably just play the single unit if the bet hasn't been pulled from the local sportsbooks yet.

I suppose there is a common perception that matches in the Italian leagues are often manipulated, though I find it difficult to see any logical reason why a draw would benefit either Verona or Empoli in this specific scenario. Verona is currently sitting in second place—the final direct qualifying spot—and they hold only a single point advantage over Livorno in third, whereas Empoli is firmly secured in fourth. Consequently, it seems to me that a victory for Verona is quite necessary at this stage. 🤷

I suppose it might be necessary for a team like the Seattle Sounders to secure this result as well. If today's matches conclude with the Sounders holding a ten-point lead over Portland over the standings, then they would likely clinch their spot in the top tier immediately, which I guess would mean there wouldn't be any need for a playoff round at all.

It’s not even necessary—I think I made that pretty clear earlier 🤷

If X happens, Verona will be sitting on "only" a 9-point lead, which means we’re looking at a playoff scenario.

Does anyone actually have a link to this ridiculous rule about losing 10 points or more??? Based on that logic, if the Lakers lose by 4, 5, or 6 tonight, is the whole roster playing for Haribo gummy bears or something?

21,30 LA Galaxy - Inter Miami (2.5) over 1.80 SS

BTTS & Over 2.5 at 2.15 SS

The home side is looking pretty solid lately. They’re sitting on a record of 7-4-1 with a goal difference of 12-9, and if you look at their last four home games, they’ve all hit the "Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5" mark... out of those seven matches, they only failed to find the net once, and they actually kept a clean sheet in two of them—and those were against teams way weaker than Miami. They are coming off two tough losses (a 1-0 slip at home against Houston and a 2-1 loss away at Dallas), so I think it would be a great narrative for them to bounce back today and just move past that recent sting of losing to the bottom-dwellers, which was barely even their second win of the season... roster issues aren't really a thing here, and since they score plenty, I don't doubt for a second they'll put one past Miami. The visitors are still clinging to hope for the top spot; they can't control their own destiny anymore, so their only move is to play their hearts out and hunt for three points. There’s only a 4-point gap between 1st and 5th, so anything can happen in this league... As for Miami's away stats and goal counts, the numbers aren't exactly screaming my way—only 3 of their last 7 went over for BTTS & Over 2.5... but then again, in 4 of those 7 games, they were playing against the heavy hitters currently sitting in the top four 😁 so they had some brutal road trips, which makes that away record (7-2-5 with 9:5 goals) look a bit more mediocre than it actually is on paper... from that top tier group, 😁 they only lost away to LAFC, while they snatched points from everyone else... they only need three points here, and given how much firepower they have, I'm expecting them to find the back of the net, if not multiple times... I'm also hoping that in their earlier match, Atlanta manages to grab at least a draw against Espanyol, which would make my picks look even better... Miami doesn't have any major injury concerns, though they've got Contreras in goal with only two appearances under his belt so far 😁 which, honestly, feels like another reason to lean into this bet... either way, I think these odds are worth the gamble...

The top tier of American soccer...

The odds on the matchup between the Red Bulls and FC Cincinnati currently sit at 1.95 over at DraftKings... a rather measured proposition, all things considered...

It is the 27th round of the MLS season, featuring a matchup between FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami that carries vastly different weights for each side... Cincinnati remains locked in a desperate scramble for a spot in the Conference Championship qualifiers, whereas Miami secured the league title three weeks ago and is now focused entirely on the domestic cup. With the cup final against Atlanta United just three days away, I suspect they won't be pushing themselves too hard in this one...
Richard Varner will be sidelined for the upcoming matchup, leaving the squad without their primary striker, though the rest of the roster remains largely intact...
On the other hand, Győr will be heading into this match without Tomas Koltai, their key midfielder, due to injury, nor will they have Marek Strestik, a regular starter in the midfield, or Daniel Volgyi, one of their starting defenders, available because of suspensions...
Since Győr has their cup final against Debrecen coming up in just three days, I suspect they won't be rushing headlong into this match, especially since it carries so little weight for them... Given the missing key players and the need to rest some starters, we can likely expect a somewhat experimental lineup from the club...
This presents an ideal opening for the team to secure a position that leads directly into the Europa League qualifiers, and I suspect they will seize it given the current roster and the sheer motivation driving the squad for this matchup...

The landscape of American Major League Soccer seems to be shifting somewhat predictably... perhaps even inevitably...

Cagliari vs. Lazio, looking at a 2-1 scoreline at 1.75 odds over at DraftKings...

It’s the final weekend of the MLS regular season... Out of several matchups where the stakes feel somewhat negligible, I’ve settled on the game between Los Angeles FC and Atlanta United. For LAFC, having already secured their playoff spot, this fixture carries little competitive weight beyond being their final home match of the year... On the other hand, Atlanta is facing their first of two crucial knockout rounds to qualify for the Conference League, especially since they have that massive cup final against Inter Miami coming up in just seven days...
For Lazio to stay ahead in this matchup, anything less than a win simply won't suffice... if Udinese manages to scrape a draw against Inter—who, frankly, presents a much more daunting challenge than what Lazio is facing today—they’ll end up tied on points, yet Lazio would still hold the tiebreaker advantage due to their superior head-to-head record, securing that crucial higher seed for the Europa League and allowing them to approach the cup final without all this unnecessary tension hanging over their heads...
The roster for the matchup in Phoenix remains thin, with Francesco Pisano, Lorenzo Ariaudo, Gabriele Perico, and Nicola Murru all sidelined by injury, while the availability of Matias Acevedo and Del Fabro remains somewhat uncertain...
The roster for the upcoming match looks a bit thin, as they'll be heading out without Cristian Brocchi, Stefano Mauri, Michael Ciani, or Bruno Alexandre Marques Pereirinha... and there are still some lingering questions regarding a few others...
The roster remains quite thin, consisting of little more than Stefan Daniel Radu, Anderson Hernanes De Carvalho Andrade Lima, and Eddy Onazi...

I trust they will exert every ounce of effort to secure a favorable result today, fulfilling their obligation... while hoping Inter does their part by preventing Udinese from sweeping all three points, which would ultimately clear the path for Lazio to clinch that Europa League spot...

22,00 Los Angeles FC - Seattle Sounders 2 2,10 SS

I’m gonna throw some cash on this line at these odds and just see where the chips fall 😁 LAFC is sitting at 17th in the standings, and honestly, the only team looking more desperate than them is bottom-feeder San Jose, who’s only managed two wins in 15 rounds... Looking at their home record, the only thing worth mentioning was that win against LA Galaxy, but even then, Galaxy has been having a miserable half-season, so I don't know what to make of it. At home, they’re sitting at 7 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses, and a goal difference of 6:7. They didn't even find the back of the net in four of their matches. Just too weak to be anywhere else in the table but right here. On the other side, Seattle is sitting pretty in 4th and they’ve got a real shot at locking up a spot in the playoffs—maybe even pushing for something bigger since they're only 4 points behind the leaders and actually have this game in hand. Universidad, the team breathing down their necks, choked today, so there should be way less pressure in this matchup than if the standings looked any different. Besides, Seattle has been killing it on the road lately, pulling off five wins in their last seven outings. Their most recent away win was against Galaxy, and now they’re coming in here looking to march away with another three points. It’s really in their hands; the goal is to sweep the final two rounds and grab maximum points, and if you ask me, they’ve got the talent to pull it off. Plus, their star striker Calandria is finally back in the lineup after being sidelined for a while, which is a massive boost. All things considered, the value on the away side is too good to pass up.

41/30 (98.11% return on investment and pure profit)
Tickets 2/8 (44.85/22).. even the second ticket hit 😲🙂
*..so about my strategy here: after that big win in round 9, I was honestly pretty sure round 10 wasn't gonna make the cut—it’s such a bummer we didn't at least grab the 2/10, but hey, I guess we can save that venting for the "Post-Game" thread later. Anyway, I think I’m gonna scale back my bets for the next few rounds because, man, everything just seemed to go my way over the last ten days, so I'm kind of expecting a bit of a losing streak to balance things out.. so definitely be careful with how much you're putting down!!

Aalesunds vs Odds................1@1.70ss
Round 11: this one plus Basel for a 1/10 shot

-We haven't played many rounds yet, so my stats are looking a little thin, but based on what I'm seeing, I guess it might actually be worth grabbing this pick at these odds.
Aalesunds at home 3-2-0 (16:6)
Odds away 0-0-4 (1:7)

Good luck everyone!

The US Open Cup final—single match showdown

Guimaraes-Benfica F2 @ 1,90

Honestly, talking about the massive gap in quality between these two teams is just overkill, right? But the real reason I’m leaning toward F2 is because Benfica is absolutely desperate to wash off all the bad luck and heartbreak they've been dealing with over the last two weeks. They need this win—they want to grab at least one trophy to feel better and, fingers crossed, stop letting games be decided by some crazy 90+ minute miracle goal!

Saturday 3:30 PM

Molde - Honefoss 1 @ 1.65

So, I've locked in on Molde and there's no turning back now! On paper, they should be the top dogs alongside Rosenborg, but after 11 rounds, they're still sitting dead last in the standings. It's been rough, but hey—they actually looked pretty decent today and managed to scrape a point during their toughest away game of the season. With no major injuries to worry about and Honefoss stuck in the basement of the league, I just don't see any reason why Molde won't finally walk away with all three points this time!

St. Louis vs. Austin FC.........Yeah@1.55ss
Columbus vs. Charlotte FC....Yeah@1.50ss
Philadelphia vs. New York City............1@1.65ss

-So, St. Louis hasn't scored at home in their last two games, and if they miss this one too, they might actually drop out of the playoff hunt entirely, which I guess is crazy because they haven't failed to score at home three times in a row all season, so maybe they finally find the net today even though things look grim... Austin is sitting pretty at 2nd in the standings and honestly they're probably the better side and should win this, but since they're stuck right in the middle of the pack with nothing to gain or lose, I wonder if they've even got the motivation left, especially since their last 4 or 5 matches have mostly been high-scoring affairs, so I'm kind of hoping for another shootout today..
-Then there's Columbus, who are basically flying high on form right now, while Charlotte has pretty much already locked in their spot, so both these teams play such an aggressive, open style of soccer that I'm really expecting a bunch of goals today... Plus, looking at their recent history, Columbus has taken the last three matchups and they were all absolute goal fests, so I'm leaning into that trend given how everyone is playing lately..
-Lastly, Philly is sitting in 3rd place with only three games left, and they're currently eyeing that Champions League qualifying spot, but man, 4th place is only three points behind them, so if they slip up even once, things get super messy fast, though they are playing incredibly well right now... On the other hand, NYCFC are pretty terrible when they travel, but I don't think they'll go down easy since they have a five-point cushion above the relegation zone, although I guess nothing is ever 100% certain, which is usually the only thing I'm ever unsure about when picking these types of games..

Good luck everyone!(and hey, just be careful with your bankroll)

Servette FC vs. FC Sion 1 @ 2.40

Man, with all the absolute chaos still going on over at Sion, who knows how long this mess lasts?
Posted: Fri May 17, 2013, 4:25 PM

New sanctions just dropped over by the Octodure Gate area.
Per President Christian Constantin's orders, Didier Crettenand and Kyle Lafferty have been tossed into the "exile" group. This decision was finalized this Friday afternoon and kicks in immediately.

The U21 squad is really stepping up here! Honestly, Servette actually has a decent shot at staying up—they look way sharper and more motivated than Sion's B team.

Kashiwa Reysol vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (22.05. 12:00) 1@2,00

Just a little something to kick off the day; I’m playing this strictly based on the numbers. Kashiwa has already handled them three times recently—scores of 2-0, 2-0, and 5-1—and they seem to be in much better shape than Jeonbuk at the moment. Since this is the second leg of the Asian Champions League round of 16, I’m cautiously optimistic they might just keep this winning streak alive. ☕
Given that they seem to be covering the spread every single time they meet, it feels worth taking a shot on that too. F+2@3,50

Columbus/vs/Portland...Yes@2.15ss
San Diego/vs/LA Lakers.....Yes@1.95ss
Sparta Prague-Sparta Brno............2@1.45ss

Olomouc-Plzen.................2@1.85ss

Dec 12th: for 1/10

-So, Columbus and San Diego both have 54 points, so they're basically fighting for those playoff spots right now, I guess. There are only 2 games left on the schedule, so there's really no room for error at all, they just absolutely have to win if they want a shot... their opponents are pretty decent though, so anyone can beat them on any given night. It's kind of wild because Columbus hasn't actually hit this specific pick 11 times in a row, so maybe I'll try going against the trend here..
-Then you've got Sparta and Plzen battling it out for first place, and since there are 3 games left and Plzen is up by 2 points, neither of them can afford to slip up even once, I think. Plzen might have a slightly tougher road ahead, because Sigma is sitting in 4th and they aren't exactly bad, but honestly, they don't really have a realistic chance to pass Liberec for 3rd, plus their current form isn't looking great either... On the other hand, I feel like Sparta should be able to handle the local rivalry without too much trouble, even if they haven't officially secured their spot yet, mostly because I just think they're a class above the other guys..

Good luck everyone

Colorado Rapids vs. St. Louis City SC 5:30 PM 2@1.90

The home team is absolutely falling apart with injuries. They’ve got nothing riding on this one, while St. Louis is fighting for their lives just to stay in the league.
For Colorado, this is their tenth game in a month—they’re running on fumes at this point. They’re also missing their starting keeper, Pelka, plus two key defenders, Sturm and Diallo. On the bright side, they get their star striker, Djurkovic, and midfielder Schmidt back in the lineup.
St. Louis, on the other hand, has been on fire, grabbing seven points over the last three rounds, including a massive 3-0 blowout against Portland on Saturday.
They don't have any injury issues to worry about either.
Here's the kicker: St. Louis has won five out of their last six matches... and today, this win is everything to them.

Lokomotiv (-1.5) vs. LA Galaxy @ 5.30 US Odds 2/10

I’m taking the Lokomotiv handicap—simple logic here. If they manage to hold a slim lead, say 1-0, the Galaxy will be forced to chase the game. That leaves them wide open to Lokomotiv’s counter-attack, which has been sharp lately.

Lokomotiv is running with their strongest lineup, whereas the Galaxy is missing two massive pieces: their starting keeper, Miller, and midfield anchor, Anderson.
The Los Angeles side looks closer to a win on paper, so why wouldn't that advantage manifest in the handicap? The odds are too good to pass up.
Sure, they didn't look spectacular in the first cup match, but honestly, they could have easily been up 2-0 by the 60th minute.
The Galaxy is a completely different beast when playing at home in front of their own fans compared to when they're on the road.
The local supporters have promised a massive turnout for today's match, though we'll see.
Lokomotiv plays an aggressive style—I don't see them sitting back like they did in Chicago. A handicap win isn't just possible; it's realistic.
