Seattle Sounders vs. Chornomorets Odessa 2 @ 5,50

The Sounders have never really known how to handle these types of matchups—even when they’re sitting there as the heavy favorites. On the other side, you’ve got this gritty, under-the-radar squad from Eastern Europe that is notoriously difficult to play against. To make matters worse, the visitors are absolutely cooking right now (they’ve pulled off 8 wins, a draw, and one meaningless loss in their last 10 games, outscoring opponents 12-4), while Seattle is looking pretty shaky—that recent shutout loss at home really shook them. Between the forecasted crappy weather and a likely empty stadium (regardless of those cheap ticket prices), plus having someone like Southampton running the show—who basically demands the players act like big-shot superstars in European competition—it just doesn't feel like it's going to end well for the home side. Since these visitors tend to grind out 1-0 wins quite often, I'm going to take a shot at the exact score 0:1 @ 12,8 (HL)

Edit. I also completely overlooked the fact that the Sounders have never actually beaten a single Ukrainian club before.

21:00 Vitória Guimarães - Rijeka X2 2.35 SS

Despite their current standing—and considering the roster issues—the only truly significant absence from the starting lineup compared to the squad that cleared the Stuttgart hurdle is Anas Sharbini. Lešković should almost certainly feature... though Skarabot might be missing too—but let’s be honest, he’s the weak link in this Rijeka side, and frankly, Bertoša isn't much better than him. Zlomislic will likely be out as well, but Pokrivac proved against Stuttgart that he's a perfectly fine replacement...
There is absolutely no merit to any talk regarding fatigue. They had a two-week break due to international duty—with Benko being the only one called up—and they played Slaven at half strength... there really is no excuse for those claims.

I see some praise for the Portuguese in the papers, but I don't buy it. Sure, they took the cup last year, but they lost five or six starters in the process. Their top two forwards are now at Dinamo and Celtic, two midfielders moved to Porto, and a center-back went to Levante... and from what I can see, they haven't brought in anyone particularly special to fill the gaps. Beyond that, they simply lack the depth required to compete on two fronts—and I suspect their domestic league takes precedence over European play. The last time they reached the Europa League group stage, they ended up getting knocked out of the tournament... likely precisely because of that heavy schedule.
The last time they were in Europe was two years ago; first, they scraped past a mediocre Portsmouth with away goals (0-0 and 2-2), then they somehow managed to grind through Midtjylland (0-0 and 2-1), before finally being dismantled by Atletico Madrid (2-0 in Madrid, 4-0 away)...

Facing these Portuguese sides twice is a golden opportunity to rack up coefficient points—if they approach it correctly, success is within reach. In my view, the odds are unrealistic. This looks like an unpredictable match where all three outcomes are possible... I believe there is value in backing Rijeka to remain unbeaten at these prices.

Guimaraes vs. Seattle Sounders 2 @ 5.80

Now, unlike the usual suspects over at the big club in LA, Seattle is actually finding some momentum here—they’re looking to grab a win in this opening match just to keep the door cracked open for a shot at the group stage. Guimaraes, though? They’ve been all over the place lately, totally inconsistent, and frankly, they don't inspire much confidence. You also have to consider that the club lost their two heavy hitters from last season—Balde, who headed over to Celtic, and the guy who was basically the engine for the guys in LA, Soudani.
Seattle has proven they can handle themselves on the road—I mean, they went to Germany and managed to grind out a draw to stay in the hunt for the Europa League group stages. So, the Portuguese side should be a bit more manageable. On my other slip, I’ve paired their win with a goal from Benk—it’s a bit of a lottery play, really, maybe something you'd see in a special parlay at @ 7🙄—but the guy's already sitting on 5 goals this season.
The papers are making a massive deal about them missing ten players, but let's be real: most of those guys haven't even seen significant minutes this season, or they were already sidelined with injuries anyway (aside from Knežević, who's out due to yellow cards)🙄
As for the actual key absences, there's a chance Sharbini, Lešković, and Škarabot might miss out—though I'm betting most of them show up, and the latter two will almost certainly get the nod for the full 90.

image

I might even throw a single bet on Seattle, just in case the big club in LA manages to stumble into a point or two by accident.

Marienlyst vs. Silkeborg @ 1.55

So, we've got a matchup here between the bottom-dwellers and the fourth-place squad in the US Second Division. If Silkeborg pulls this off today, they could actually climb into second place, mostly because they’ve got a game in hand compared to everyone else. Silkeborg has picked up three wins in their last five outings, and honestly, after such a strong start to the season, they’re definitely looking to stay near the top of the table. On the flip side, the visitors... well, they're struggling. They've only managed to find the back of the net six times in eight games, and they're giving up more than two goals per match. They're sitting on just four points after eight rounds; I mean, even if they somehow pulled off a miracle win today, they'd still be dead last. They've lost four of their last five, so, I guess it's pretty realistic to expect another loss today.

LAFC vs. Chornomorets Odessa - Over 2.5 goals @ 2.4 odds

I honestly don't see LAFC pulling this off. They always end up conceding some absolute garbage goal, looking more like a bunch of amateurs from a local semi-pro league than a top-tier club. That’s probably how today goes too—some guy worth $40 million loses his footing, the ball floats through the air for what feels like an eternity while the defenders just stare at it like deer in headlights, and boom, GOAL. Everyone thinks they’re a superstar and just charges forward blindly. At the end of the match, you can just hear the captain saying in his thickest American accent: "Man, we really blew it because we let in a stupid goal." Hilarious.

PSV - Zrinjski Mostar - Over 2.5 goals @ 2.0 odds

Since PSV plays that classic, wide-open 4-3-3 style like most big Dutch teams, I’m betting Zrinjski manages to bag at least one goal of their own, even if they end up letting two slip past them.

Waregem - Wigan - Over 2.5 goals @ 2.2

Looking at Waregem's recent scores, you'd think this match is bound to be high-scoring. Now, Wigan is basically the polar opposite—their games are almost always under 2.5—but I have a feeling things will go differently today. Mostly thanks to how leaky Waregem's defense has been lately.

Real Betis vs. Lyon, Betis to score 1.17

Betis definitely has the edge here—they’re playing at home where they look solid, they know how to find the back of the net, and they’re just efficient... meanwhile, Lyon’s defense—well, honestly, the whole squad looked like a mess at the start of the season. Just mediocre.
The defense keeps leaking goals, and the attack either can't score or barely does.
I don't even know how much they care about the Europa League, but they’re dealing with lineup issues again today:
Gourcuff, Bisevac, Miguel Lopes, and Danic are all out.
It's not like the visitors are trash or that Betis is going to absolutely steamroll them, but if nothing else, I'm betting that visiting defense slips up and concedes again.

Friday
Randers vs. Aalborg, Aalborg to score 1.25

Aalborg has managed to score at least once in all four of their away games.
Randers, on the other hand, has conceded in every single one of their four home matches—they’re basically among the worst home sides in the MLS.
Looking at the last 7 times Aalborg went to Randers, they only failed to score once (a 0-0 draw).
Their offense is actually pretty decent—Anders Jacobsen has already bagged 3 goals, and that veteran midfielder Kasper Risgaard has 2.

Friday
Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta, Sittard to score 1.20
Fortuna is one of the better home teams; they’ve scored in every match on their own turf, averaging about 3 goals per game at home.
Plus, they have this weirdly good track record against Sparta—it feels like they’ve been scoring against these guys from Rotterdam for seasons now.

11/16/12, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 1 : 3
03/10/12, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 1 : 0
03/11/11, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 3 : 1
05/06/05, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 3 : 0
10/03/03, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 1 : 1
02/07/03, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 1 : 1
10/13/01, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 3 : 4
12/09/00, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 2 : 1
10/23/99, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 3 : 2
10/17/98, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 2 : 1
02/05/98, Fortuna Sittard vs. Sparta 2 : 1

Saturday
Port Vale vs. Coventry City, Coventry to score 1.17

Alongside Leyton, Coventry has the best attack in League One.
They’ve found the net in every single match, so I’m expecting them to do the same at Vale Park against a mediocre Port Vale side.

Saturday
Roda JC vs. Heerenveen, Heerenveen to score 1.17

Heerenveen is running the most efficient offense in the Eredivisie right now.
They’ve scored in every game and they’ve got Finnbogason, who is lethal—they’re averaging around 2.7 goals per match.
Roda is just an average team... they let in 5 goals in their last outing against NAC Breda. Heerenveen should easily grab at least one...

Saturday
Young Boys vs. Luzern, Y. Boys to score 1.15

They’ve scored at least once in all 7 rounds so far.
And they’ve scored on Luzern in 10 straight matches in Bern...
Luzern is one of the worst away teams in the league, giving up an average of 3 goals whenever they travel.

Odds 2.76

Real Betis vs. Lyon @1.85 - Favorite

The odds have dropped quite a bit—not ideal, but that’s how it goes... Lyon just isn't finding the net lately, scoring only once in their last five matches. They're also dealing with a ton of injuries today, especially losing Gourcuff—I still remember how he basically single-handedly dismantled Nice a while back... Betis looks like a solid squad to me, so I'm expecting them to pull this one out in front of their energetic home crowd...

a few quick thoughts:

LA Galaxy vs. Chernomorets X2 @2.15>
The Galaxy just brought in a new manager, and honestly, I doubt he’s had enough time to actually get everyone on the same page or fix how these guys play... Plus, losing Soudani is a massive blow since he's been one of their standout players. Their defense looks shaky as hell, and the Polish keeper isn't exactly giving anyone peace of mind either. On top of that, there's a huge question mark over who’s even starting in the midfield. Meanwhile, the Ukrainians seem pretty disciplined and organized, likely playing a tight game where they don't give much away...

>Vitoria vs. Rijeka X2
Rijeka showed up without ten players today, but most of them were just benchwarmers anyway. They haven't lost a game this season, and they even knocked out Stuttgart in the last qualifying round... Vitoria's had a rough run in the cup and they've lost about six key players this season, which really shows in their performance lately. They've got a big matchup against Benfica this weekend, which seems to be the main focus for them given their league standing...

Betis vs. Lyon 1

The French side has been an absolute disaster this season, totally unrecognizable, and they're missing some heavy hitters today too. Betis is always tough to deal with at home, they're efficient, and should probably just take all three points...

Estoril vs. Sevilla BTTS @1.7

Both squads have been scoring plenty this season—out of their last nine games, only once did either team fail to find the net. Estoril might not be quite as clinical as Sevilla, but this looks like a solid play for tonight...

Sparta Prague vs. FC Slovacko @1.25
Look, Sparta absolutely tore through the start of their season. Eight rounds in and they’ve already notched seven wins and a single draw—that 0-0 stalemate against their main rivals, Viktoria Plzen. Honestly? Slovacko is just another mid-table squad with limited upside, and I don't see them standing a chance today. Doesn't matter if Sparta had to play on a Monday night too; they're on another level. They’ve actually won nine straight games against these guys. Last time they didn't walk away with a win was back in September 2005, and since then, it's been nothing but pure dominance. Might as well take a shot at f+2 @1.65.

Los Angeles FC vs. San Jose Earthquakes 1 @ 1.85 SS 6/10

LAFC isn't playing with the same flair they showed last season—it's a bit more functional—but they remain one of the top four teams in MLS.
The roster is solid; Chago is back in form, leading the charge alongside Mišić and Šitum.
Their defense has been reliable enough for this league, which explains why they’ve racked up so many points this year.

Then there's San Jose—the newly promoted side that looks like they might struggle to stay in the top flight. They aren't particularly impressive; the defense is shaky, and there's a general lack of quality, both as a unit and individually.

I honestly don't know what the oddsmakers at DraftKings were thinking with these lines. I was genuinely surprised when I saw the spread this morning.
In my view, the fair price should be around 1.50 to 1.55—and looking at international books, they seem to agree, averaging 1.53.

My play:

LAFC -1.5 @ 3.10 SS 2/10

It’s purely because the current odds feel unrealistic—the handicap is a very legitimate option here.
LAFC has a potent attack, a lethal counter-attacking style, and they punish mistakes—which is exactly what San Jose tends to make.

Honestly, those odds seem totally unrealistic to me. I’m hesitant to even touch this; it just doesn't make sense.
I know if teams like Seattle Sounders, LAFC, or Atlanta United were playing at home against a bottom-tier side, the odds wouldn't exceed 1.50 or 1.60. So, I don't see the logic behind setting them this high for an underdog.

For today:

19h Rosenborg - Haugesund 1 1.45 SS

Rosenborg is fighting for the title. They're currently in first place, with seven games left in the season, and Stromsgodset is only two points behind them.
They still have to deal with tough away trips to Molde and Lillestrom, plus a home match against a very solid Viking side.
Haugesund sits in fifth and could still be fighting for a European spot, but Rosenborg is quite strong at home, and this game is vital if they want to protect their lead in the standings.
Last week, Rosenborg lost 1-0 to Tromsoa, so I guess they can't afford another slip-up, especially given how tense the race at the top of the table is right now.

US THIRD DIVISION - Round 21

Seattle Sounders FC-Portland Timbers 2 @ 2.20

Man, this Portland squad is absolutely on fire right now—they were dead last just eight weeks ago, and now? They’re sitting at second in the recent form standings. They're basically cruising toward safety in the third division at this point, and honestly, it’s gonna be a total uphill battle for Seattle to stop them. Seattle's been struggling big time—sitting at the bottom of the table and looking completely lost over these last eight games. It's almost a lock.

Wow, Carl-Johan, you're killing it as always! And man, did you guys catch the vibe of that game? Seattle put up a decent fight, but Portland was just playing on another level! Simply incredible. Let's go, Portland!

Bayern Munich vs. Schalke 2-1, @1.65
Look, you simply cannot pass up odds like this on a Bayern win, regardless of who they’re facing in the MLS. Sure, Schalke has finally found their footing after a disastrous start to the season and they've managed to string four wins together, but let's be real. Aside from that weird 1-1 draw against Freiburg a month back, the Bavarians have been absolutely steamrolling everyone in their path. Without Huntelaar in the lineup, the home side just doesn't carry the same punch, and honestly, I think Bayern should walk away with an easy victory here, even if it looks like a tricky road trip on paper. If you look at the last six matchups between these two, Bayern has taken all six, outscoring them 19-1. There's really nothing else to say about it...

Doncaster vs. Nottingham Forest - Away Win @ 1.90

It’s honestly pretty funny watching the sportsbooks tank the odds on a Forest win—you’d think they were playing an away game against Manchester City or Arsenal rather than competing in the most unpredictable league out there... I swear, at one point earlier today, the odds were sitting at 1.80, then when I checked at my local DraftKings an hour ago, they were up to 2.05, only to see them slashed back down to 1.85 just now. 🙄

Still, looking at how both teams are playing right now, an away victory makes total sense. Doncaster hasn't tasted a win in five games—and while they haven't played poorly, that kind of drought definitely weighs on the locker room mood... On the flip side, Forest doesn't always win convincingly, but they have this knack for clawing their way back from losing positions, which shows real grit. Both sides brought in some new blood too—Doncaster grabbed Macheda from Manchester United, while Forest picked up Chalobah from Chelsea. In my book, Forest definitely got the better end of those deals; they landed a high-potential young talent who really shined at Watford last season, whereas Macheda has mostly struggled through various loan spells elsewhere. Long story short—Forest is objectively the stronger side right now and should come out on top.

LA Galaxy vs. LAFC - betting on @1,65 SS

I’m right there with driftingotter47—Bayern is basically the heavy favorite regardless of who they face, but I honestly think the oddsmakers are sleeping hard on the Galaxy today. They’ve got the home win priced at 6.00, which is insane. It's like they're treating them like some bottom-feeder squad fighting just to stay in the league instead of a legitimate powerhouse 🤷 Plus, the line for the Galaxy to score is sitting at an unrealistic 1.50 if you ask me. Personally? I'm going with both teams to find the net at 1.65. Bayern is almost a lock to score, and I'm feeling like the Galaxy has more than enough firepower to grab at least one

Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy @1.40
Tonight we’ve got a massive MLS showdown on the cards: Seattle Sounders taking on the LA Galaxy. Now, look, Seattle is sitting right there in second place, just trailing behind the leaders in the standings. And even though they're "only" second, you can't sleep on them—they've been absolutely killing it lately with 6 wins and 2 draws, including those huge matchups against the top dogs at the top of the table. Since the league leaders pulled off their win yesterday, they’ve managed to push their lead to 5 points. That puts the pressure squarely on Seattle; they have to take all three points tonight if they want to stay in the hunt. As for the Galaxy? Yeah, they’re on a five-game unbeaten streak, but honestly? I think that run ends tonight. I don't care if Seattle is still feeling a bit rattled after that brutal 0-3 blowout they took against Manchester City in the Champions League; I don't think that's going to shake them up for this one.
Ever since the Galaxy clawed their way back into the top flight back in 2011, these two sides have met 4 times in league play. The home side has walked away with 3 wins and there was one draw.

01,00 LA Galaxy - Inter Miami (2.5) Over 1.75 SS

Looking at these odds, I feel like I just have to take the over here... it’s hard to pass up. The Galaxy are averaging about 3.43 goals per match, which puts them right at the top of the league for scoring efficiency. They’ve been playing on three different fronts this season and somehow they aren't falling apart, which is impressive if you ask me. That said, if there’s any chance they slip up or just play a subpar game, it’d be right here at home 😁 so I wouldn't count the visitors out entirely. Still, my gut says goals. The Galaxy have their first big US Open Cup knockout match coming up on September 27th against none other than the Red Bulls, so their heads might already be drifting toward that trophy. Both sides are expected to field their strongest lineups for this one. The visitors have managed to find the back of the net in all three of their recent away games; sure, none of those opponents were exactly on the level of the Galaxy, but if they can't score here, they're basically dead in the water. Honestly, both the Over and the 3+ options look tempting, but I decided to go with the safer bet since the value is decent enough.

12:30 Sassuolo - Inter 2 1,80 SS

So, Sassuolo finally made their big leap into the top flight after 90 years... and yet, just three weeks in, they’re already looking like they might slide right back down to the minor leagues. Despite a decent stretch of matchups—facing teams like Torino, Livorno, and Verona—they haven't managed to pick up a single point through those first three games... and scoring? They've only found the net once.
Inter, however, is having a hell of a start to the season. They cruised through their first two games against Genoa and Catania, followed by a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the big rivalry match... which was actually the first goal they've conceded this year.
Even with all that context, the oddsmakers are still leaning heavily toward Inter with these odds—so, how can you justify passing on that?

15:00 Portland Timbers - LA Galaxy F+2 2.10 SS

Despite everything—and there's been plenty—Inter Miami remains the class of the league, whereas Portland has likely hit rock bottom this season. Sure, they managed to scrape a win against the Seattle Sounders, but that says more about Seattle’s poor performance than anything impressive from Portland. Assuming there isn't any unnecessary officiating interference... I expect Inter Miami to finally secure a convincing victory.

Messi to score 1.80
Busquets to score 1.90

As I said—a decisive win is what I'm looking for. Messi hasn't played against the Ukrainians yet, and we know he's capable... plus, Busquets is in stellar form, consistently finding the net—if my math serves me right, he's got 7 in his last 9 matches.

16:30 PSV - Ajax dnb 2 2.20
BTTS & Over 2.5 1.80 HL

Both sides have struggled in European competition recently. Ajax fell to Barcelona as expected, but PSV’s home loss to Ludogorets was quite a shock. PSV isn't playing well—they haven't seen a win in six matches. In Europe, it's been two losses and a draw, and in the domestic league, three draws. It’s not entirely surprising, though... they are significantly weaker this season compared to last. Ajax isn't exactly flying either, but I feel they are closer to a victory today, even playing away in Eindhoven. I don't quite have the nerve to go for a straight away win, so I'll try the Draw No Bet instead.
Given how both teams approach the game, I'm anticipating plenty of goals. Looking at the odds for BTTS and Over 2.5, it seems the bookmakers agree...

LA Galaxy - LAFC (-1.5) 2 @ 2.08 DraftKings 5/10

I have to deal with Robert Wright4 again. 🤣

The Galaxy hasn't been great lately—dropping games even in MLS, locker room vibes are off, you know the drill.
That said, they are still seven classes above LAFC, who might actually be the worst squad in the league right now.
LAFC’s defense is a sieve and their attack lacks any real creativity; I expect the Galaxy—likely hungry to snap this skid—to walk away with a routine win, just like they usually do against them.
I caught their first matchup this season; the Galaxy absolutely dismantled them. They barely created a single chance, aside from that one late goal in stoppage time, if I recall correctly.
I've watched LAFC play about four or five times this season—they are genuinely bad, especially defensively. Every opponent seems to carve them up.
Easy win for the visitors.
