LA Galaxy vs. LAFC 2@1.45

The Galaxy haven't exactly been playing like superstars lately, I guess, but let's be real—they still have the talent. Since the Sounders, Portland, and Seattle are all sitting right there on them in the standings, today’s win is pretty much huge. If they pull this off, they’d jump out to at least a 3-point lead over the pack, which would be nice. Plus, they probably just want to keep the locker room vibes positive before their big matchup in the Europa League.

First off, Memphis has always been a tough road trip for the Galaxy. They’re going to be shorthanded without Simunic on the pitch, too. Even the sportsbooks are feeling it; looking at the lines for Memphis vs. LA Galaxy, DraftKings has the Memphis win at +800 and a double chance (1X) at +200.
After seeing how the Galaxy handled that last match against Chernomorets, my money is on 1X @ 3.00.

Odense vs. Midtjylland over/under 2.5 goals

The standings in the MLS look pretty bizarre compared to last year—it’s almost like seeing Inter Miami sitting in eighth while LAFC is down in tenth 😁 Tucked right between those two is Odense. Unlike the heavy hitters like LA Galaxy or Atlanta United, they haven't exactly been a powerhouse over the last few seasons. Now, they're staring down the current league leaders, a squad sitting five points ahead of second place with a game in hand. Looking at recent form, both sides have been finding the back of the net consistently, especially Odense at home and Midtjylland on the road.
The odds at FanDuel and DraftKings are sitting at 2.00.

LA Galaxy vs. Portland Timbers | Over 2.5 goals @ 1.85

The Galaxy are absolutely ripping right now—three straight wins and they’ve put up seven goals over their last three outings alone. They're just relentless offensively... I mean, look at the lineup we're talking about here—players like Christian Benteke, Riqui Puig, Gabriel Pec, maybe even some depth from the midfield... these guys can easily drop two or three goals on anyone on any given night.
The only real hole in the roster right now is that they're missing their starting keeper, which could be a problem...
Portland is also riding a decent wave, coming off an unbeaten streak through three matches.
They've actually managed to find the back of the net against big names like LAFC, Seattle, and maybe even a tough matchup against Atlanta this season... so they definitely have the firepower to pull something against the Galaxy.
I'm calling it—this is going to be a high-scoring shootout. Let's go with the over.

Champions League | (8:45 PM) Seattle Sounders – AC Milan

Both teams had a rough start to the season, pretty uninspiring honestly, but they both looked decent last weekend. Seattle blew past their opponent in a massive 6-0 blowout at home, while Milan just scraped by with a 1-0 win.
Here’s the thing: if Seattle wants any shot at moving on to the next round, they have to go for the throat tonight. They'll be forced to take risks. And since we all know their defense has been a total liability lately, I’m leaning toward both teams to score @1.75.

FC Porto vs. Atletico Madrid (10/01, 8:45 PM) Draw @ 1.55

Both sides are coming off identical runs lately—six wins and a single draw over their last seven matches. I’d give the edge to Atletico since they managed to scrape points away at the Bernabéu, but I suspect Porto can hold their ground and weather the storm through at least the first half. 😉 Looking back at their head-to-head history, we've seen a draw in three of their last four encounters...

Borussia Dortmund (-2+) vs. Marseille (10/01, 8:45 PM) Over @ 1.50

I’m leaning into this one based on recent trends. In their last two meetings, both games went over, and if you look at the previous matchday in the Champions League, both teams were involved in high-scoring affairs that ultimately ended in defeat. If Dortmund is serious about securing all three points tonight, they really need to assert themselves and dominate the pitch.

FCSB vs. Chelsea (10/01, 8:45 PM) Away Win @ 1.80

Chelsea is still reeling from that bruising loss to Basel last week, and following that up with a lackluster performance against Tottenham hasn't helped matters. London is feeling the pressure right now. Mourinho desperately needs to salvage his reputation by picking up three points tonight, even though they did drop a game to FCSB earlier. Then again, that was in the Europa League, where the big clubs don't always play with much heart, and Chelsea eventually cruised through with a 3-1 win in the second leg anyway.

Can someone who actually follows soccer explain why the odds for PSG are sitting at 1.78 on Pinnacle?

It feels a bit high—especially considering Benfica hasn't looked remotely convincing in the MLS lately. 🤷
I see PSG is only missing Silva, whereas Benfica is down 3 or 4 players.

Champions League | (20:45) Manchester City vs. Bayern Munich @ 1.60

City and Bayern have met three times in the Champions League before. Bayern holds the edge with two wins under their belt. Tonight should be a heavy hitter. Both sides came out swinging in matchday one, both walking away with dominant 3-0 victories.
Bayern is still undefeated in the Bundesliga, while City dropped a 3-2 nail-biter on the road against Aston Villa last week.
The stats that catch my eye here are the goal differentials in their domestic leagues. Bayern is sitting pretty at 14-2, whereas City is at 14-7. Look, the Champions League is its own beast, but these numbers tell a story. The strikers on both squads are absolutely locked in. They proved that in the opening round.
Expect fireworks at the Etihad tonight. It’ll be an open, high-octane game. Even if both teams are realistic about settling for a draw, I’m leaning toward both sides finding the back of the net.

Real Madrid vs. FC Copenhagen (Oct 2, 8:45 PM) @2.40
After that bruising loss to Atletico, I suspect Real will be incredibly motivated; honestly, it feels like the Danish side arrived just in time to serve as a necessary palate cleanser, allowing the Madrid squad to secure a comfortable multi-goal win and finally quiet the relentless chatter from the local press. However, we also have to account for that classic Real tendency—the one where they somehow find a way to concede a cheap, unforced goal to just about any opponent. It’s almost predictable: they pull ahead by two or three, decide they’ve done enough to coast, and then inevitably get caught on a sudden counterattack that leaves them staring at a conceded goal in the dying minutes of the match...☕

Europa League | (19:00) AZ Alkmaar vs. PAOK - Away win @ 1.80

Coming off their last Eredivisie match, Alkmaar secured a vital 2-1 home win against PSV. On the other side, PAOK saw their five-game winning streak snapped in the last round of the Greek Super League. They had to settle for a 1-1 draw during a tough trip away at OFI.
In the opening round of the Europa League, Alkmaar traveled to face Maccabi Haifa and walked away with all three points. It was a tight 0-1 affair, but since the winning goal didn't drop until the 71st minute and neither side really dominated, I'd say Alkmaar left feeling pretty satisfied with that grind.
PAOK, meanwhile, should have had a relatively easy ride on paper against Shakhtar Karagandy. They headed into that matchup looking for a routine victory, but things got messy. After a scoreless first half, the Kazakh side took the lead in the 50th minute thanks to—as it turned out later—a phantom penalty. The Greeks managed to claw their way back to finish 2-1, securing three points just like Alkmaar did in week one.
Looking ahead to this clash, I’m expecting a high-quality game with plenty of chances. Alkmaar plays fast, aggressive football at home, while the Greeks are notoriously dangerous when they catch you on the counter or a quick transition. Betting on both teams to score feels like the smartest play here.

Rijeka vs. Betis Sevilla 2-2, 2.00

Look, I get that Betis hasn't had the most spectacular start to their season, but honestly, these odds are just baffling to me. We’re talking about a side that already took down Valencia and played a hell of a game against Villarreal this year—a team that actually went into Madrid and made Real sweat. Sure, the Betis manager loves to shuffle his lineup constantly, but he'll likely field a squad today pretty much identical to the one that held Lyon to a draw in the first round of the Europa League. Now, don't get me wrong, Rijeka has definitely leveled up into a decent squad, but they just aren't at this level of football yet. They've even started looking a little shaky in their own league lately, having dropped points in draws against all four of the top teams in MLS. I highly doubt the home crowd can provide enough of a spark today to manufacture a massive upset of this magnitude. At the end of the day, Betis is simply a tier above Stuttgart, the team Rijeka had to battle through just to get into this tournament.

Dnipro - Fiorentina 1 2,00

Two heavyweights in this group face off today—I’m leaning this way because Dnipro is a different beast at home, especially after their win against Shakhtar. Fiorentina? Not even close to last year's level. Plus, they're missing their top three strikers tonight—Gomez, Rossi, Rebić—and they've got a big away game against Lazio this weekend where they'll desperately need to fix their reputation after a shaky start to the season.

MLS | (20:30) FC Cincinnati – LA Galaxy X @ 3,50

Week 8 of the MLS season features a matchup between FC Cincinnati (#4.) and LA Galaxy (#5.). They are neck-and-neck in both standing and points.
So far, Cincinnati has been a fortress at home. They’re undefeated on their own turf with 4 wins under their belt. But flip the script? They struggle on the road, dropping all 3 away games.
On the other side, LA Galaxy has been drawing a lot lately while traveling—picking up stalemates against teams like St. Louis City (2:2) and Portland (1:1), plus a loss to Columbus. It's worth noting they managed to find the net in both of those draws.
Looking at the stats, Cincinnati hasn't seen a single draw this season, whether playing at home or away. But given how these two sides stack up, I'm calling it: a draw.

MLS | (20:30) Houston Dynamo – LA Galaxy 1 @ 2.40

I have followed the predictions of my esteemed colleague neondrifter26 on several occasions without much thought, and I suppose he has been correct almost every time; however, I might try to be a bit bolder today by choosing a different path 🙂

The Galaxy have recently played quite a few draws while playing away from home, though I should note that teams like San Jose and Charlotte are currently sitting right at the bottom of the MLS standings, and even their lone victory in the last five matches came back on September 28th against a Mainz side—if we consider them an equivalent—which is also hovering around 12th place

In contrast to the Galaxy, Houston beat that same mid-table side at home by a larger margin (4:1 versus 3:1) and they also secured a 2:1 win against a much more highly ranked opponent like Austin FC, who sits in eighth; looking at their last three away losses, they were all against significantly stronger sides, specifically two matchups against Inter Miami and one against the LAFC

If one were to play it safe, perhaps aiming for any kind of modest return just to ensure a win, I imagine the most logical move would be to bet on over 2.5 total goals, though the odds for that seem rather meager at 1.55; since the payout for a Houston victory is somewhat more attractive at 2.40, I think I will go ahead and select that instead, following the old mantra that "greed is good" 😁

AIK vs Mjallby - Away Win @ 2.0 With only four rounds left on the clock, AIK is hunting for that top 3 spot to secure a trip to Europe, while Mjallby is sitting just 8 points clear of the relegation zone. The odds are sliding, but they’re hovering right around 2.0 for now.
Almere vs Venlo - Over 3.5 goals @ 2.1 Looking at the Dutch second division—a league basically built on high scoring. These two have met four times recently and cleared the 3.5 line every single time; we've even seen 5 or 6 goals fly in before.
Saturday
Mainz vs Hoffenheim - Away Win @ 2.3 Mainz has been struggling through a four-game losing streak, which explains why the odds look this tempting. Meanwhile, Hoffenheim escaped with a lucky 3-3 draw against Schalke last time out. They’re leaking goals like crazy—I mean, even a bottom-tier side like Stuttgart put 6 past them recently. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't walk away with something from Mainz.
Schalke vs Augsburg - Home Win @ 1.75 It’s about time Schalke actually showed up in the Bundesliga. They’ve got a solid roster, and frankly, it’s high time they climbed toward the top of the table.
Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich - Away Win @ 1.7 Both sides coming off Champions League wins, but let's be real: Bayern looked way more dominant against much tougher opposition than Leverkusen did when they squeaked out a goal in the 90th minute against Sociedad. Right now, there aren't many teams in the world that can actually take points off Bayern.
Man City vs Everton - Home Win @ 1.6 City just got knocked out by Bayern, and they've already blown two leads in the league this season. Isn't it about time they actually won a game and gave their fans something to cheer about?

What’s the point in me repeating everything slybison8 already said? It’s all there...
I’ll just throw in my two cents: Hannover is absolutely tearing it up at home lately, consistently dropping at least two goals per game. I’m calling it now—they should walk all over Hertha today. Those guys are struggling big time just trying to find their footing in the top flight... they look completely lost.

Hannover Over 2.5 total goals @ +150

slybison8 said:If you're playing it "safe"—basically just trying to scrape together some kind of win in this matchup—I think the best move would be over 2.5 total goals (essentially an X2 bet for 3 or more), but the odds on that are a pathetic 1.55.

Spot on. You could probably even play both teams to score here.
When I bet on soccer, that’s my go-to style—totals, anytime scorer, BTTS, all that. In my book, those markets offer the best value compared to what the big US sportsbooks usually throw at you.

slybison8 said:I've followed neondrifter26's picks blindly a few times now, and he nails it every single time. Today, though, I'm feeling gutsy. I'm going to take the opposite route.🙂

1. MLS | (19:00) LAFC – LA Galaxy @ 1.70

Back at it. Two months since the last derby, and now LAFC and LA Galaxy face off for the second time this season. After that local clash at the high school stadium, the whole thing moves to SoFi Stadium. If you actually like watching quality soccer, you really shouldn't miss this. Expect a heavy atmosphere.
After 11 games, LAFC is sitting pretty in 3rd place. Some pundits are calling it a shock, but honestly? I don't buy it. It’s obvious things are changing at the club level for the better, and the league standings back that up. They’re currently on a three-game unbeaten streak, pulling wins against Inter Miami (2:0) and Seattle, plus a draw against Portland (1:1). The new signings, Giorgi Iluridze and Haris Bukva, have been absolute steals. Regardless, the manager promised a high-intensity match. He isn't sticking to that old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality—he’s giving chances to whoever works hardest on the pitch.
Galaxy, on the other hand, had a rocky start to the season, despite bringing in guys like Mate Bilic. We also can't ignore the hole left by losing Ante Rebic; he was a cornerstone for them, and replacing that specific type of player is tough. Most people expected way more from Galaxy this year, and they're probably right. Their potential is much higher than what we're seeing in the MLS table. Their recent loss against Austin FC snapped a five-game unbeaten run, so today's matchup will be the true litmus test for where they actually stand.
I'm expecting a fast-paced game with plenty of openings. I've decided to go with both teams to score.

Oldham vs. Leyton Orient: 1 @ 2.65 Moneyline

Is it finally time for Leyton Orient to drop one? I'm thinking today might be the day—especially after seeing them draw with Walsall... they seem to be losing a bit of steam, if you ask me. It’s not even about the score, just their overall rhythm looks a little off lately. On the flip side, Oldham is playing solid soccer, though they've had some incredibly bad luck recently—and honestly, that just makes them more hungry to take down the league leaders today. I caught them playing against Preston back when I was active in those circles, and they looked like a top-tier squad that just got unlucky. A win is definitely overdue...

Chilean Primera Division 1

Everton vs Cobresal: Over 2.5 goals @ 3.9
Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 @ 6.5

So, Everton had a rough outing last week—they picked up three red cards, including two starters from the first squad and one sub coming off the bench. On top of that mess, Cobresal is looking way sharper lately.

Over 2.5 goals in the Chilean league - Higgins pick @ 2.1

The Chilean league is basically famous for high-scoring affairs. They haven't hit the "both teams score" mark in their last four matches, so I'm expecting them to finally break that streak and just go wild with some goals.
