The sailing season at Central Park kicks off tomorrow and the day after with our Las Vegas regattas. We’ll be out on the water from roughly 12:00 to 3:00 PM, though that'll shift a bit depending on how the wind behaves.

It’s standard. But it feels amateurish—he started way too late in those small-town classes. 🙂 Just for the hell of it. 🙂 I find myself heading out to Central Park almost every single day right after work, especially whenever there’s a decent breeze blowing through the city. 🙂

We managed to get three boats out on the water today, which was quite an achievement given how much the wind was kicking up. Honestly, we were lucky to pull it off. Just as we finished securing everything and tidying up the vessels, the gusts really started to pick up in earnest. 😢

Rules are rules. 🙂

For now, I am just observing. Once the weather breaks in May 😎, I plan to start sailing lessons (and learning how to capsize properly along the way 🤣).

I am 25. However, I still subscribe to the idea that it is never too late. 👍 😉

Just a few quick questions;1. Is it possible for a single individual to manage this alone?



Also, what would the annual subscription fee look like for a setup like this?

Of course one person can handle it... you just have to know what you're doing.

A slip will cost somewhere between 15-$10 ... roughly speaking, depending on the size and the margin, obviously.

Central Park - yesterday was absolute madness!!! The wind was howling, and we were basically just sliding around in Las Vegas 🙂 today will probably be more of the same, unfortunately I won't be able to make it 😢

I don't know, guys... I'm looking at these sailing school websites. They offer a one or two-week beginner course, then an advanced course to sail solo, and then the skipper certification...

Don't you think it's a bit ambitious to expect someone to be out there sailing solo after just a week? Even getting a driver's license takes way longer than that. 😁

Honestly, forget those big sailing schools—they just drain your wallet and leave you clueless. If anyone's actually serious, there's a new school in San Francisco that works with only two or three students at a time for personalized training. After a course like that, you definitely won't be trying to pilot a sailboat with a motor.

Just wanted to shake the dust off this thread. There’s this new breed of vessel starting to make waves across Europe called the Boeing. It’s this tiny 11-foot dinghy with a sail that looks more like something you'd see on a surfboard. You’re probably wondering what the catch is, right? Well, the catch is that the thing actually flies :-)). I’m being literal here—it takes flight. Instead of your run-of-the-mill rudder and tiller setup, it uses some kind of hydrofoil wing tucked underneath, and once you hit about 7 knots, the whole thing just lifts off the water. To give you an idea of how insane this is, the entire boat, sail and all, weighs a measly 65 pounds. Can you believe that? :-)). We’ll be seeing the first of these Boeing models landing here in the States very soon, likely down in Seattle :-))

Hey, hey... sorry for just jumping right into the middle of this whole thread, but I wasn't really sure who to turn to—so I figured (maybe I'm totally off base here, but still...) you guys might be my best bet for an answer.

So, basically, where can I actually find a compass? And I don't mean one of those cheap plastic toys—I mean a real, high-quality, reliable compass.
It’s actually kind of a big deal for me right now, and honestly, I haven't even the slightest clue where to start looking...

It really just depends on where you’re located :-)). Honestly, your best bet is to hit up any local shops that specialize in fishing tackle, or even check out maritime supply stores—you know, the places that sell everything from nautical gear and oars to flags and boat accessories...

Another Moth is heading to Chicago, though they'll likely end up being more common in San Diego 🙂

Where did you pick yours up? Brand new, or used?

Most of them are going to be built out in Cleveland. We're talking full carbon fiber builds—hull, foils, wings, the whole nine yards. They’ll be brand new, obviously, though you might see some used ones trickling in throughout the year. You're based out in San Diego, right? Which model did you end up picking up? And are you planning on hitting the World Championships under the guard at the end of June?

So, when is he finally hitting Cleveland or San Diego??? I've been dying to give his stuff a shot..

The first project over in Cleveland should be wrapped up by March, but as for when they'll actually get moving on the one in San Diego? Honestly, who knows.

I was scrolling through YouTube yesterday and caught some promotional clips for the Motel, and man... the class on those things is just unreal. It got me thinking... are there many other people out there sailing around Europe? I actually decided to give sailing a shot recently and finally gave up on laser sailing. Honestly, the scene in Europe is so much better.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with you, but hey, if that's how you feel, go ahead and pick Europe. Personally, I think if you're looking for a chance at those kinds of clubs, you might have more luck sticking to the West Coast!
