iPod sucks first Blade👎
The first Blade is top-tier, the second is a decent follow-up, but the third? It’s a total disaster.
I think Purcell is largely to blame for how that turned out—he’s got that gym-built look, but he moves too slow, which really drags down the final sword fight. Plus, he’s pretty much a snooze-fest as a villain.
But then again—that’s more on the writers. They made him way too precious. All that stuff about being "The One, the perfect being"—and then there’s that scene where he’s sucking blood from a goth girl in a convenience store... it tries so hard to be wild, violent, and primal, but it feels forced. They basically confused him with Lestat.
Snipes's fights against the "standard vampires" feel like choreographed routines—to be fair, the fights in the second movie were actually more interesting because the power levels felt a bit more balanced.
And that long sequence showing off all the weapons? It probably shouldn't have been in there at all. You can cover all that in two quick scenes, but instead, this final installment ends up feeling like some sort of James Bond wannabe.
Confidence is a joke—just a modern myth. You see these "confident" types all the time, preaching about how you need to "sell yourself."
It’s all part of this recent wave of nonsense that's become trendy lately.
Personally, I don't give much thought to how "confident" someone is—it doesn't really mean anything to me. Instead, I tend to focus on whether someone is
a) intelligent, communicative, and objective
or maybe just
b) arrogant, foolish, uncommunicative, a poser, or just plain aggressive.
I guess everyone is just a little too high-strung—honestly, all of you seem pretty wound up.
I always enjoy watching the previews—it’s a nice way to see what's coming up. During the commercial breaks, I usually just mess around with my friends.
If you want to experience true hell, try watching a movie on Italian television—you get five or six commercial breaks scattered throughout the entire film. Compared to that, what we have here is nothing.
Steven Ruiz said:I went to the theater yesterday to catch this—mostly just based on the trailer. I mean... the trailer looked solid, so I figured why not? And yeah, the first 40 minutes were actually pretty engaging, but then they completely ruined it by throwing in those aliens—it was just unnecessary. Not to mention, the popcorn was way too salty, and even my Coke tasted off for some reason. A total letdown.
The Coke was the dealbreaker for me. All rise! Court dismissed.
I caught this yesterday at Cinemark, and man, the sound design nearly blew my eardrums out 🙂—those Predator blade sounds were intense . The movie itself was just okay, I guess—fairly average entertainment . It seems they left the Queen in the water, probably so they can drag her back for some sequel later on . The Predator is way too soft on that woman; he does so many favors for her, it’s almost like he’s hitting on her . I don't really see why an Alien coming out of a Predator would be any stronger. Who says their genetics even mesh well with the "host" genes? Personally, I think they'd just end up tearing each other apart . The Queen didn't attack the Predator because she felt threatened (they aren't exactly ExxonMobil, for heaven's sake), but simply because she was VERY PISSED OFF, which is how Alien Queens usually are . That acid spraying from the Alien's tail wasn't even a defensive move—it was just spraying acid. I mean, does anyone else bleed defensively when they're attacked? . There was this brief shot where the woman who gets hit by the facehugger first (in bullet time 😁) is reloading her pistol on the ship. You rarely see that kind of detail in movies. And it's such a small thing, but honestly, it matters 😂 . Did anyone else notice that the guy playing the character looks just like Spud from Trainspotting? He's actually quite good 🙂.
Maybe the Alien with the wire marks is the first one with an actual personality? It feels different from the others, like it has its own identity. Unless there was something like that in Alien 4 that I missed . None of the gift-giving, scarring, or accolades toward the woman felt right—there was just too much of it, and then she gets a high-tech spear, which feels like total overkill. Compare that to when Danny Glover gets that 17th-century pistol as a tribute... now that was a great moment . Can you imagine Predators ejecting from those pods, flying out of the ship, and slamming into Earth without any deceleration for gravity? "Wow, man, that's fast. Holy crap, I'm spinning, HAHAHA, here we go!" 😁
I agree, Leonard Nimoy—"The Scorpion King" is a solid movie 😁
Indeed, I caught "Conan" on TV yesterday and it’s actually better 🤔 James Earl Jones is incredibly convincing as Thulsa Doom. Plus, Conan's female lead has great legs and moves like a ninja 😲 I guess Schwarzenegger is just the most average one out of all of them 🙄
As for "The Scorpion King," he’s probably destined to end up in hell transformed into a monster, similar to what we saw in "The Mummy," right?
Oh, and that arrow bit was seriously awesome. You mocking me? Take that! 😂

No place for me to go No place for dyin' slow So I kill my tiiiime in the Blue Shadows
Saturday night, I'm hanging out with some people, and as we're parting ways, I find out they're heading to a theater in Washington, D.C. for some "surprise screening" at midnight. I run into someone else, mention the plan, and we decide—on a whim, really—to just try and crash it. It actually works.
Lasers in the lobby, a small crowd of kids inside... turns out some guy rented out the whole cinema for his birthday. Then the movie starts:
"Streets of Fire"
It’s got that same vibe as "Warriors"—but honestly, it feels more like The Rocky Horror Picture Show. There's a song popping up constantly. It's almost like some kind of comic book musical.
"Is this something we've seen before?" I ask my friend. "Yeah, we all saw this like twenty years ago."
Well, I didn't. As for the movie itself? Aside from the parts that aren't totally naive, it's actually pretty damn good. Now I'm hunting down the soundtrack.

The ultimate grunge track👋
Well, we’ve already listed plenty of songs.
Now it’s time for the usual: "What actually defines grunge?", "Grunge lives!", "Who's still around?", "Was Kurt Cobain some kind of pop-Jesus?", and "Why does everyone blame Layne Staley for how he was found in that tub?" 😉
Top lists... I guess the more I read through this thread, the more old favorites I start remembering...
Soundgarden - Birth ritual, from the "Singles" soundtrack
Alice in Chains - Them Bones, Mother Love Bone - Dam That River, Rooster, Mad Season - Would, Again
Mad Season - Wake up, Lifeless Dead, Long gone today
Oh! Here's another one for the list:
Pearl Jam - Release me
Man, that one is pure euphoria. mmmmMRRAAAAAAAAAK!
William Chavez74 said:The term 'Grunge' is just a clumsy attempt to box a whole musical movement into some strict, arbitrary definition (ha, maybe I'm overthinking that one!!). 😁 Arguing about which band is more or less 'grunge' feels pretty pointless—mostly because there isn't really one single band that serves as the perfect blueprint for the genre.
Then again, what is there even to debate? 😁
Grunge is primarily Seattle—a city defined by its struggle with addiction.
It’s a guitar vibe that ties together Nirvana (with that pop production), Soundgarden (carrying those Indian influences), Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains (who always insisted, "we're a metal band"), and everyone else.
You've also got Stone Temple Pilots, Silverchair, and honestly, who knows how many others.
Maybe Limp Bizkit is the true successor to grunge. 😉
And Soundgarden definitely isn't a Zeppelin clone; Zeppelin were hippies. 🙂
A little more on the nature of grunge itself—1) it's always melodic, and often quite heavy. Grunge isn't noise, and it isn't punk.
In that documentary mentioned above, Geezer Osbourne complained about teaching everything he knew to a spoiled Kurt Cobain. Seems a bit pathetic, if you ask me. Anyway, I caught him a few weeks back at a Fantomas show. He's still got it—sounds healthy, headbanging along to Mike Patton's conducting and all that. 🙂
