Don't wash your hair during your period?!? WTF in Women's Health ·
So I was doing a little digging online and honestly, it blew my mind how this isn't just some old wives' tale we grew up hearing here in the States—it’s actually a thing all over the world. 😬
I stumbled upon this snippet from an article I can't quite track down fully, but it says:
The majority of Indonesian (60 percent) and Philippine (68 percent) respondents believed that it was inadvisable to wash their hair during menstruation.

😲
It's gotta be rooted in something from the past. Maybe our immune systems just take a bit of a hit while we're on our periods, so there's a higher risk of catching something if you're damp and shivering because you don't have a hairdryer or central heating handy.

As for hair dye and stuff... look, ladies, we are basically walking hormone factories, and that hormonal rollercoaster definitely messes with our hair. You can find own more details right here about how hormones impact your skin and hair. Gotta know what's going on inside our own bodies, right? 😁

Gregory Walker15 said:Honestly, you can't blame a girl for not seeing the beauty in this film. 🙏

Maybe I'll go watch it again. 😳

I am definitely going back for another round. It’s just a top-tier movie, period.
When Starscream shouted "all hail Megatron," I was basically bouncing in my seat.
Yeah, they changed them up, especially Megatron, but honestly, it was expected and wasn't nearly as drastic as I thought it would be.
And my absolute favorite among all the Autobots, Optimus Prime, turned out just perfectly.

You know who voices Megatron? Agent Smith 😁 made a solid choice 😬
Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
Hey, I’ve got a bit of a dilemma.

I am seriously struggling to find a decent bakery anywhere in California.
I spotted two spots in Seattle (County and Snow White) that seem alright, but nothing in California is hitting the mark.
At the last wedding I went to out in California, the cake was... well, let's just say it wasn't exactly gourmet.
It was all fluffy, watery, and loaded with cheap frosting, when honestly, I was dreaming of one of those gorgeous marzipan masterpieces 😍

And honestly, I have this feeling that if you go to Chicago, places like Vince or Isaac and Mary are probably going to be way more professional and actually delicious than some random little mom-and-pop shop in the middle of nowhere.
Whatever, maybe I'm just being biased. 😬

Does anyone know a legit, high-end bakery in California?
especially with that dark spot right by the tooth 😂
Man, this movie is absolutely killer 😁
I am seriously counting down the days until the third one drops 🎉
Yeah, sure, it’s hollow, kind of goofy, messy, and way too cluttered, but honestly? It’s still fun as hell.
Plus, Captain Sparrow is a lifesaver 😬 without him, this whole thing would have sucked big time
Is streaming killing the art of cinema? in Movies ·
Piracy isn't what's killing cinema.
What’s actually murdering movie art is directors who care way more about their bottom line than a solid script. Most of the stuff hitting theaters lately isn't even worth the bandwidth to stream.

The internet basically gives us a free trial, whether it's movies or music, so we can see if something is actually good before dropping a ton of cash on it. It lets us figure out if we're paying big bucks for actual quality or just total garbage. And honestly, if you know it's trash, why would you waste your money?

And all this talk about downloading being the reason the film industry is collapsing, or how greedy execs are ruining everything... man, some people are just collectors of random junk.

Take me, for example. I've got unlimited high-speed internet. Everything I've ever downloaded is just a few niche anime series that are impossible to find here in the States. I still hit up the theater, I buy DVDs of the stuff I actually love, and piracy is just my go-to for things I literally can't get any other way besides downloading them.

Then there's this buddy of mine with unlimited cable. He's got an adult collection at home so massive you'd need two lifetimes just to get through it. And don't even get me started on his movies and TV shows. You name it, he's got it.
Does he actually *need* it? Nah. He just likes having it, even if he never watches it. If you took away his ability to download, he'd just find some other hobby. His downloading habit isn't hurting anyone's wallet or creativity, because if he couldn't download it, he wouldn't bother buying it anyway.
And you know what? He's still going to the movies! Because no matter how good a pirated copy might be, nothing beats the big screen experience.

Cinema isn't being killed by anything except its own lack of imagination.
A Scanner Darkly (2006) in Movies ·
Yeah, definitely not peaceful.
I've no idea which edition you were reading, but he basically wrote this whole thing as a tribute to all his buddies who either passed away or ended up totally wrecked from overdosing. Even Dick himself was caught up in it. He lists them all at the end of the book. It’s pretty heavy when you realize all those characters he dropped into that sci-fi world were actually just descriptions of his real-life friends who are gone...

The book is incredibly dark, it offers zero hope for a better tomorrow (well, maybe a tiny bit 🙂), and I'm really curious to see how much they changed it...
The dangers of sitting at a desk all day in Health ·
Man, sitting at my desk for too long absolutely kills me. My lower and upper back are just constantly throbbing.
Last year I actually had this whole thing where the fingers on my left hand went totally numb—some nerve got pinched because I was typing way too much.
But hey, I’m not giving up just yet.😬
As long as they keep Star Wars on the list, I’m totally cool with it 😁
Shaun of the Dead in Movies ·
Honestly, my absolute favorite part has gotta be when they’re beating the guy and Freddy Krueger starts singing from the jukebox—you know, "Don't stop me now, I'm having such a good time, I'm having a ball..." 😁
@Ronald Castillo5 - I just can't see how helping out the country is some socialist phenomenon. Like, isn't that basically what Kennedy meant when he said, "Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country"? And this guy was from the least socialist country on the planet... you know, a place where even saying the word "socialism" is practically a swear word.
Look, the state is just people. It’s that simple. If the people are getting screwed, the state is screwed. And if the state is a total mess, then yeah, the people are definitely in the gutter too. It's all connected.

Look, fast forward fifteen years and the biggest voting bloc in this country is gonna be retirees. It’s gonna be brutal for anyone actually out there grinding and working for a living... because politicians are just gonna bend over backwards to please the seniors just to secure those votes.

Looking at some recent stuff that's gone down lately... I'd say we're already seeing it happen right now. 😁

Look... I didn't mean working *for* the government, like you're on their payroll. I meant working for yourself *within* the country. It’s the same thing—you help yourself, and by extension, you help the nation. Just be an entrepreneur. Start exporting stuff, lobby politicians to actually fix the courts, bring in big investors... but instead, we all just sit around waiting for someone else to swoop in and handle it for us. We aren't entrepreneurial. We lack that spark, that initiative. Usually, the "solution" people jump to is just fleeing the country rather than actually trying to build something here. Honestly, thank God it's reached this point, because after years of absolute garbage, everyone between 20 and 30 is totally convinced that you can't start anything in America. They don't even bother trying to shake things up anymore because they’ve already decided change is impossible. They won't try to be business owners because they're certain they'll just go broke. And hey, looking back, they're probably right. With an atmosphere like this, of course people want to pack up and leave. They're positive nothing can get done here—at least not without bribery and corruption. Then we have the nerve to expect the whole situation to flip overnight. Like it'll just fix itself. But it can't change unless *we* change. And we aren't doing a damn thing to fix it because we're too busy being sure we're doomed. And there you go. A vicious circle.

So the question still hangs there, right? Like, what if after ten whole years, things don't actually start looking up... what if they just get worse? We've got an entire generation of young people out here just sitting around, waiting patiently for some better days that might never show up.
I honestly think one of the main ways capitalism adapts is by basically killing any hope for a better future or a better country. People just stop waiting around for the government or some grand plan to fix things. Instead, they figure they have to take matters into their own hands and just do what’s best for themselves right now. Sometimes that means packing up and moving overseas to find something better. It's just how it goes.

That’s exactly my point right there. What the hell are we waiting for? Are we seriously just sitting around expecting everything to be handed to us on a silver platter? If we just sit on our hands and wait, obviously nobody is going to give us a damn thing. There's no such thing as a free lunch—you learn that pretty quick in Econ 101. Nobody is going to hand you success if you don't put in the work to grab it yourself. Patiently waiting? For what, Godot? You’ve got to actually work to make a change happen instead of just sitting around hoping it'll do itself.

Gary Cox72 - Look, the idea is solid. You've got all these young people out there who are actually hungry to work and eager to learn, and honestly? They can achieve just about anything if they get the chance.

Truth be told, I'm with you on this one. Totally.
Amanda Torres5 - look, if every young American thought like that, nothing in this country would ever actually change. "Oh, I'll come back later and help build things up"? Yeah, right. Good luck trying to help out now. Who knows if there'll even be anything left to help by then.
Personally, I want to stay right here in the States. I love this place, and honestly, I know I’ll never feel as at home anywhere else as I do here. It’s a beautiful country, even with all the absolute crap that happens on a daily basis.
But I'm staying. And I want to try and actually do something to make it better. Because, you know what they say... if not us, who? If not now, when?
Look, banning movie trailers before a show wouldn't really fly, mostly because nobody is forcing you to sit there and watch them.
I mean, did they tie you to your seat? Nope.
Did they lock the doors so you couldn't leave? Not at all.
Did they bolt the entrance so you couldn't show up later? No way.
Bottom line is, you don't have to stay there and suffer through the ads.
But those annoying commercials right in the middle of the actual movie? That's a whole different story.

Honestly, those ads drive me absolutely insane. But hey, Regal Cinemas is easily my favorite spot—the seats are super comfy, they’ve got decent cup holders, and it's pretty close to where I am. Plus, the sound system is killer and I can just grab tickets online without any hassle, so I'll pick them over anyone else every single time. They just offer more comfort than the other theaters, so if I have to shell out a few extra bucks for that, whatever.

casualotter21 said:Man, the early 90s! The dawn of capitalism! Those were the days.
We used to rent like six bootleg movies at a time from that sketchy local video shop run by some guy named Niko. Usually, if we actually had the patience and it was a slow weekday, we might manage to watch four tapes before giving up. With three of those four, nobody actually knew what was happening on screen because the picture was way too dark, no matter how much we messed with the TV settings. And that last one? The video quality was just trashed—lines kept scrolling across the screen because back then, we hadn't even figured out what that little "tracking" button on the VCR actually did.

😂

Did we all have the same shady bootleg distributor 😁?

Ugh, I remember the first time I saw Star Wars on a pirated tape... totally unforgettable experience. 😁

Anyway, CONAN!!! 🎉
man, I am so stoked they're airing it.

Honestly, the movie is actually pretty funny. I never bothered watching it before because I figured it would be total trash, but hey, don't judge a book by its cover 😁
Hero in Movies ·
This movie is absolutely gorgeous, seriously one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Half the film looks like nothing but stunning moving photography. Once I figure out where that lake with those incredible hills is, I'm heading there for a vacation.

But honestly, if a movie like this were made in the States—you know, about people sacrificing themselves for a higher cause or lovers dying together—everyone would just write it off as some cheesy flick. I can't imagine people taking something like that seriously here. But since it's from the Chinese region, it totally works. From what we've learned about their culture, the collective matters way more to them than the individual. Meanwhile, over here in the West, it feels like we've kind of forgotten those "romantic" concepts, like sacrificing everything for the greater good or dying for love.
It’s interesting, too, because you can draw a parallel between the emperor and, say, someone like a modern-day tough-as-nails political leader. Both unify tribes that otherwise would never get along, doing it through a firm, almost tyrannical hand. I wonder if Americans noticed that.

She's definitely hot, but honestly? Zero personality. I mean, we're talking about *Helen of Troy* here, for crying out loud!

Yeah, I'm right there with you on that one.
Like, seriously, is that supposed to be Helen?!
Give me a break!
She's more like someone straight out of Alan Ford RULEZ 😁
