Secondhand smoke concerns in Health ·
Charles Young said:One more thing, specifically for you, Ashley Watson.

It really bugs me when people start demonizing smokers as much as you do.

Come on, give me a break... by the definition of secondhand smoke, we're talking about hanging out in a cloud of smoke every day (like in a bar or a club), not some random puff hitting you while you're walking down the street, for God's sake.

Seriously, enough with this whole attitude that smokers are just evil people trying to ruin your innocent lungs.

Total overkill.

Look, I’m being completely honest here—that smoke bothers me. And I’m not even exaggerating. It was actually one of the reasons I quit. Maybe you don't get it, but if you ever find yourself quitting one day, I hope it clicks for you. I have nothing against someone smoking outside on the sidewalk, but please, don't blow it right in my face! Just like I don't care if people drive cars, as long as they aren't blowing exhaust fumes directly into my head!

Charles Young said:Hold up, why does it have to be every single public space?

I don't think I'm poisoning anyone just because I light up on the street,
in a park, or whatever.

You’re dead wrong! Honestly, the smoke on the sidewalk drives me crazy. Like, I’ll be standing at a red light waiting for it to change, and some guy starts puffing clouds right in my face... It’s one thing when you walk past a cafe patio and just breeze through, but when someone blows smoke directly into my face while I'm just walking down the street 😠 or strolls ahead of me with a cigarette and I have to practically sprint to dodge them... man, sometimes I just want to grab their cigarette and toss it!
Or anywhere else where you're stuck waiting outside in a line. Just gross. 🙂

Take it from a proud former long-time smoker! 😁

So, just take about 2 inches of ginger, toss it into a quart of cold water, bring it to a boil, then let it simmer on low for another 15 minutes.
Use that liquid (once it's lukewarm) to soak some cotton pads and "follow the gentleman" with it.😉
It works, trust me...
Betty Rivera14, love the name.👍

Wait, did that actually work for you? How often were you applying the water? And who even taught you that trick? 😉 )

Brian Thompson18 said:Michael Jones23, just take that cousin of yours and shove her in your ear instead of a flower.

Anyone who’s ever dealt with physiatrists or physical therapists can tell you—a good PT is just as vital, if not more so, when it comes to physical therapy, which definitely includes stuff like Pilates to an extent.

Casey Palmer5, I tried it too, and yeah, I'm confirming those 8 hours of yours (with breaks). 👍

I honestly have no clue what you're even trying to say... 🙄 ...first off, I didn't even ask my cousin for her opinion, so you don't get to talk like that!!!!!!!!

Second, a female professional in this field explicitly told me that sitting on a stability ball for 8 hours straight is definitely not recommended!

Third, how exactly did you conclude that sitting for 8 hours is actually a good thing??? Besides, you literally wrote this yourself:
Brian Thompson18 said:confirming your 8 hours (with breaks). 👍

WITH BREAKS!!!!!!! So you basically contradicted yourself. Like, what are you even talking about here, lady????????? 🙄

Sarah Morales5 said:I got a pump with my ball. Honestly, it would be such a pain if I had to trek out to a gas station every single time it loses a little air.

So what, you're just gonna bounce your way down to the Chevron?😁

Casey Palmer5 said:I’m telling you, it works. And hey, I’m also a physical therapist.

But I said physiatrist, or maybe just a PT... honestly, whatever.

Casey Palmer5 said:Actually, it's way better than sitting in a chair because the ball forces you to engage your core, so all that weight isn't just crushing your spine like when you're slumped over in a seat.

In reality, though, sitting for eight hours straight is bad news regardless of what you're sitting on. You gotta get up and move around every once in a while. 🙂

Anyway, next time I catch up with my sister—she’s a physiatrist—I’ll just ask her directly. She’d probably be the expert here..

Casey Palmer5 said:You can totally sit on an exercise ball for 8 hours straight without any issues. Honestly, it’s way better for you than a regular chair.

I’ve been using one myself, and it feels way more comfortable. My lower back doesn't feel nearly as trashed.

I mean, sure, you could.......

but doing that constantly? Like, day after day, month after month, year after year? I really don't think so...
I remember some lady—an expert, or at least someone who knew what she was talking about—saying that. Now, was she a physical therapist or just some clerk at an orthopedic supply shop? Maybe she had medical training or was a PT, I can't quite recall. All I know is that one of them definitely wouldn't recommend sitting there for 8 hours straight without a break.

Kate Anderson83 said:So, what’s the actual experience like for those of you who use one? How many hours a day are you sitting on it? I’m thinking about picking one up for the office, but honestly, I have no clue how I’d survive an eight-hour shift on that thing.😕

You definitely shouldn't be on a stability ball for that long—like, eight hours straight? No way. I saw this segment on NBC where an expert was explaining that it’s not a good idea to spend your whole workday on one. The consensus seems to be that it's better to switch things up... use the ball for a bit, then swap back to a regular chair.

Sarah Morales5 said:I was over at Target a $27 weeks ago. Price basically just depends on how big they are. From what I've heard from my physical therapist, there isn't much of a difference anyway. That one from $233 is pretty much the same as the $70 ones. But then again... you know that old saying, "you get what you pay for," 🙂 who knows. They're just exercise balls. I wouldn't personally drop that kind of cash on this specific ball $233. I got mine for my birthday, so I feel bad even asking what it cost, but I highly doubt it was anything crazy

If I only knew where they were selling them cheap...

Douglas Mitchell said:Where can I actually find one of those Pilates balls?

You can probably grab one at a Walmart or Target, but honestly, they might be total junk. Does anyone know where to find a cheaper option that isn't garbage? And what’s the actual deal with the price jump between the cheap ones and the high-end stuff you see at specialty fitness shops? Is there even a difference?

Megan Cox8 said:It doesn't have to be a guy, but it definitely needs to be private practice... 🙂

I was scrolling through the local directory, but honestly, there isn't a single private OBGYN clinic listed in St. Louis... 😕

Thanks anyway. 👋

No way, they're definitely there. Check these out:
OBGYN CLINIC DR. MIROSLAV KRAMARIC. St. Louis, 22 Otokara Kersovanija St (314) 208-4444

Megan Cox8:
Does anyone know a good private gynecologist in the Chicago area? Looking for someone actually pleasant to deal with, obviously.
😁 👋

Does it seriously have to be a guy and a private practice? I mean... I actually know of a decent female GP over at the local clinic, Dr. Miller... don't freak out or anything, she just shares an office with Dr. Stevens, and honestly? I bailed on her. She’s just not exactly the warmest person.

The only thing that really bugs me about Leko is that they won't let you actually run a search. Seriously? How are you supposed to find anything if the search function is just... broken? Makes the whole experience pretty useless, honestly. 🙂
But does anyone actually have a recipe for this stuff? Like, how do you even use it? Do you just eat it plain, or what do you pair it with? 😕 ......

Or should I just start a new thread over in the food forum?

So you guys seriously didn't mention this was the entire wellness collection! I barely managed to track down this one Pilates DVD at the local Target, only to look at the back and realize it’s just a teaser for the rest of the series; massage, Tai Chi... blah blah blah. Like, why wasn't this mentioned? 😲
Chicken noodle soup recipe in Health ·
Yeah, it’s nasty. The smell is just 🙂

I know I tried that ages ago and it totally turned my stomach. Honestly, I think the celery flavor is way too aggressive. I can still practically taste it in my mouth just thinking about 😁

So when does it actually drop... I'm guessing Thursday? Since last Thursday was that DVD on healthy eating, right?

restlesspanther1 said:So I basically got the whole lecture on how I’ll have to handle this all by myself every single month, like, "today, tomorrow, once you hit forty." 😱 Such a terrible way to put it. 🙄

I mean, so what? Honestly, you probably should have been told! That sounds like a good thing. It’s actually great they pointed you in that direction. If only every doctor out there was actually willing to be that informative. Seems fine to me! 👍

I’m just over here feeling sorry for myself because I haven’t run into a gynecologist who’d actually bother explaining things like that yet. You’re lucky!

But wait, do you sound like you're actually upset that he mentioned the age forty part? 😉

restlesspanther1 said:Breast exams are just a standard part of the Pap test... I make sure to mention it every single time😁 and every time they just point me right back to doing self-exams instead. 🙄

I’m pretty sure it’s not actually part of the Pap itself, just a regular OBGYN visit...

restlesspanther1 said:Basically, they skip it because they think it's unnecessary for younger women... though they really shouldn't.👍

My doctor didn't even check mine. She's a decent person, usually, but she told me if I want a real exam, I have to see an oncologist. Honestly? Getting a referral from my primary doctor is such a massive headache. The wait times alone are endless... why bother?

So yeah, some OBGYNs just don't do the exam. Probably because they lack the experience or whatever.

granitesailor33 said:It’s all about what you eat and how you prep it. Basically, you just gotta stick to stuff that's actually good for you—though "healthy" is a pretty broad term if you ask me. Realistically, you need to cut out the Sugar, white flour, and all that processed junk you find at the local grocery store.
I mostly cook everything fresh from scratch. No weird supplements, no pre-packaged meals, nothing frozen, no canned stuff. Just real food.
I steer clear of heavy fats, like hard cheeses, and I don't even own an air fryer. So, I stay away from anything fried or those dishes that get boiled and then smothered in shredded cheese in the oven.

You can eat anything, really, as long as you're moderate. I prefer eating smaller amounts more frequently. When I get hungry, I grab some fruit instead of making a sandwich or reaching for chips, pudding, or chocolate. Hey, if people want to live like that, more power to them, but I don't think those habits are doing anyone any favors.

woow! 😁 bravo! are you actually being for real right now? Like, seriously, is that your actual routine? If so, mad respect! 🙏 honestly, I'm kind of jealous. Do you still eat chocolate, or did you ditch that too?
