I can't stop snacking before bed—help! in Health ·
So, I’ve been wrestling with this issue for a few years now—and honestly, I can't tell if it's just my own psychological makeup or something more physical... but the reality is that I simply cannot fall asleep unless I eat something at least thirty minutes before hitting the hay. It sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? I’ll lie down, absolutely exhausted from a long day at the office, but after about fifteen minutes of tossing and turning, I’m wide awake—as alert as an owl. I even had one instance where I didn't sleep a single wink all night, only finally passing out around 6:00 AM once I got up to grab a snack.

And when I say I eat, I really mean I *eat*... I'm talking about a couple of sandwiches or maybe some heavy deli sausages. I have tried the "healthy" route—switching to Corn Flakes or some light granola to avoid heavy food right before bed—but it never works. If I wake up in the middle of the night, the hunger hits me full force, and I find myself forced to get back up and eat again just to settle down.

It’s becoming quite a nuisance, frankly. The cycle of lying there, failing to sleep, getting up to eat, and repeating the process is exhausting. Plus, I have this nagging worry that it isn't particularly healthy—I'm terrified I might start putting on weight, even though my current weight is fairly steady at about 165 pounds at 5'8".

Does anyone have any sensible thoughts or perhaps some practical advice on how to handle this?
Dealing with pollen and dust allergies... in Health ·
Greetings, fellow sufferers 😁

So, here’s the situation—for about two and a half years now, I’ve been dealing with this persistent, dry cough. It feels exactly like something a heavy smoker would have (even though I don't touch a cigarette in my life!), and it seems to flare up every autumn and spring, lingering for maybe a month or two at a time... My doctor suggested it might just be some minor allergy... but now that I'm sitting here thinking about it, what could I actually be allergic to during the fall? I get the spring part—pollen and all that—but what happens in the autumn?
Urologist recommendations? in Health ·
Esther33 said:If you're looking at the staff over at the Mayo Clinic—specifically that incredible team from the Mayo Clinic branch—they are simply wonderful. Truly kind, highly skilled professionals. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. As for which specific doctor? Well, that really depends on what kind of urological issue you're trying to address.

As for my own experience, I can't say enough good things about the urologists at Johns Hopkins, particularly those working at the local plumbing service...

I know, it was a bit clumsy of me, but 🤣

I mean—was it really deep enough to require a Band-Aid?

It’s full-on home remedy mode: gallons of tea, plenty of lemon, and staying strictly in bed... I’m actually skipping my classes at NYU today—mostly out of consideration for my classmates, of course—because I definitely don't want to pass this germy mess around to anyone else. 😬

"Make sure you're airing out your room regularly; you really shouldn't let that air get stale... it's basically a five-star resort for parasites.
It would be a smart move to deep clean the space where you spend your time... because those little guys can hang around and strike again whenever they feel like it, making the whole thing feel endless..." 😬

I remember back in the day there were these CO2 canisters you could swap out to carbonate water right inside the device. Is there any way to buy pure carbonated water—you know, just water with added CO2—without all those extra minerals being dumped in?🙏

I actually have one of those water dispensers you can rent from a local service provider, and mine actually has a setting for carbonation too... so maybe try asking the folks who handle your office water delivery?

He’s finally ready to be discharged from the hospital—he'll be heading back home soon! 🙂
Kondroin: Any experiences? in Health ·
Personally, whenever my knees start acting up after a workout, I just apply some ice for about 3 to 4 minutes and—presto—I’m good to go...
As for what silentnomad23 is going through, if you ask me, it sounds more like a psychological hurdle than anything else; apparently, the theory is that Kondroin won't even touch the problem unless you take it religiously every single day... I tried it myself for two months before I finally threw in the towel after seeing all the conflicting debates regarding its actual effectiveness. In my humble opinion? It's total garbage... Honestly, a bag of ice is much cheaper and works just fine. 🙂
When you get burned... in Health ·

Let it soak in completely and you won't be left with any scarring or anything at all....

while you're busy mixing all that, your finger is already swelling up,`` 😬

I always go straight under cold running water—for about ten minutes at least...

As for oil, I've also heard that it’s actually one of the worst things you can do, since it essentially prevents the skin from breathing...
Late-night snacking... anyone else? in Health ·
alexxx said:really?

😁 hehe

Well, what can I say? I’m one of those people who simply cannot drift off until I've had a full meal—it doesn't matter if it's 10 PM, 1 AM, or even 3 in the morning... I tried once to actually go to bed without eating a massive late-night snack (since, you know, that's supposedly "unhealthy"), and let me tell you, it was a disaster. I didn't sleep a wink all night; I just spent the entire time tossing and turning in bed...

So, does your head go numb too? 😁
4roses said:Does anyone else deal with waking up in the morning only to find their arm feels completely "dead" for a few seconds until the circulation finally kicks back in?

For me, my arm can feel "dead" for a full minute... though honestly, that’s usually just because I’ve been sleeping on it and cutting off the blood flow...
Ideally, I'd prefer the first scenario—something falls toward my head, and I try to swat it away lightning-fast with my other hand, only to realize my arm has gone totally numb right when I need it most. 😁

brisknomad6 said:P.S. I honestly think that by forcing yourself awake at 7:00 AM, you’re just telling your body that it’s had quite enough sleep already...🙂

I have to agree... I find myself getting up around 6:30 or 7:00 AM because of my job, and whenever I have a day off, I make the decision to sleep in longer—just to get some actual rest—and what happens? I still wake up right around 7:00 AM! I try to drift back to sleep, but instead of feeling refreshed, I always end up feeling even more exhausted. Isn't it funny how that works? For me, the absolute best thing is to just get out of bed the very first time I wake up—whether that happens at 5:30, 6:00, or 6:30 AM—because that is the only way I feel truly energized for the rest of the day...

slylynx68 said:Just give me back my measly half-liter of blood then. Honestly, it’s not even that much... I’m not some grizzled veteran from the US Armed Forces anymore👍

and apparently it's all about "principles"—specifically, those sausages I didn't get. 👍

If you're actually throwing a tantrum over some damn sausages, then you are definitely your father's son—someone who does nothing but whine and bellyache until mommy rushes in to comfort you and daddy feeds you a pacifier...
I don't want to donate blood in Health ·
Honestly, who even cares if he’s being difficult about donating blood? It’s not like his contribution is vital—blood supplies are always running low regardless, and whether we get his half-liter of junk or not doesn't change the bottom line...
Thoughts on dairy consumption? in Health ·
casualfox9 said:And after just one year of milk treatment, they'll end up allergic to every single plant in nature...

Pure nonsense is truly untouchable—I mean, really... if that were true, why am I not allergic to anything? I've been drinking milk for over 20 years now—pasteurized for about the last 10—and I go through at least half a liter every single day... 🙄
Thoughts on dairy consumption? in Health ·
*I honestly don't know what they're trying to sell us with this modern guide—real milk is the stuff straight from the farm, freshly drawn and pure!
When I was just a kid, I’d head over to the neighbor's house every single evening for some milk; it was fresh, raw, and still warm... man, that was something else... I’d knock back two or three glasses right then and there, then finish off whatever was left the next morning... If that didn't kill me, I highly doubt this current guide will either... though, I have my doubts about how much actual value there is here compared to those childhood memories...
Dirty hands... in Health ·
Madeline said:Good grief, what’s so strange about that? It's basically one of the fundamental rules of hygiene, especially when it comes to men👍

Yeah, right—and maybe we should all just go into isolation and wash our hair before we pee, just to make sure nothing falls from our heads onto our junk... 🙄
Look, everyone has their own little "hygiene ritual," I suppose—but personally, I stick strictly to the bare minimum of washing my hands after I'm done with self-pleasure...
