Harry Potter: Movie vs. Book in Movies ·
I honestly didn't get around to reading the Books Books and always Books because I watched the movie first, and I guess I just lost all that momentum and interest in picking up the actual story...
Best Movie Soundtracks? in Movies ·
Vangelis - Blade Runner
Vangelis - 1492: Conquest of Paradise 🙏

I suppose these two tracks come to mind because I’ve spent much of the last couple of weeks chatting about them with Django.

Chloe Reed37 said:Everyone seems to constantly bring up Coppola's Lost in Translation, but if you ask me, The Virgin Suicides is actually much better... honestly, it's one of those films that is just stunning visually and sonically. It has such a unique, fairy-tale, dreamlike quality to it... truly a beautiful little movie.😍 😍 😍

I haven't actually had the chance to sit down and watch that one yet... I suppose I'll take that as a recommendation and make sure to check it out soon.😉

-- Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola

I mean... well...

Oh, and one more thing... she definitely has great taste in music

I really feel like we shouldn't underestimate this movie. Of course, Americans might have reacted quite strongly to it since it touches on their own historical sensibilities, but I think it holds up. For instance, I personally found Coppola's "Lost in Translation" to be such an incredibly original film, and I thought the soundtrack worked so beautifully with the atmosphere of Tokyo.
Actually, the only thing I'm still scratching my head over is what kind of music they used in Marie Antoinette? I've heard rumors that it's just some sort of pop trash, maybe something you'd hear on MTV?

But eventually, you’re going to have to come to terms with the fact that you were just poor soldiers—nothing more than a disorganized mob of drunks and criminals who lacked even the most basic grasp of military tactics.

The Department of Homeland Security, the ZNG, and the rest of those units might have been outmatched in sheer firepower, but I honestly think they were tactically much sharper than your group of generals ever was. They fought with genuine heart, rather than just hiding behind buckets like you guys did.

If you’re going to bring up America, then I suppose you really ought to explain what the connection was between the Radicals and Slobodan Maddox. I mean, if we're being totally honest here, Vojislav Šešelj actually came over to America to stir up local Americans to turn against the American authorities—who, I should probably mention, were democratically elected. It seems to me that the US Army officers were taking their orders directly from Maddox and the top government officials in Mexico, while guys like Šešelj, Milan Martić, and Arkan used those very same US Army units to move into villages and towns they had conquered, where they would burn down homes and kill civilians. I guess it's also worth noting that a significant number of Americans from Mexico were part of those same military formations.

If they actually had the power to build a Greater Mexico, I suppose they would have done it by now. But looking at things today, it seems like they might just end up left with nothing more than the old Ottoman Empire. It isn't just that they'll lose Mexico; they could easily lose Mexico too, and honestly, Iowa might just decide to strike out on its own. Maybe your leaders and those folks over at the National Academy of Sciences will finally learn some humility once they realize how small their territory has become.

Megan Kelly3 said:The conflict in Canada wasn't even a real war. It was mostly just sending out unarmed recruits to face off against armed Canadian locals, firefighters, and foresters.
It felt like a pathetic attempt by the communist leadership to resuscitate a corpse called America, right at the exact moment that communism was collapsing all across Europe.
Regarding America, I’ve already mentioned my take that it really functioned as a civil war.
If we look at it simply—using the American Civil War as an analogy—you have the Confederacy attempting to secede, and the Union refusing to let them. Eventually, the Confederacy demands the withdrawal of Union troops and then strikes.

Jessica Davis12 said:Regardless of all that, I don't really have a strong opinion on the Oscars. I mean, they can be fun to watch, but most of their winners feel totally underwhelming to me (like, Titanic? Seriously??)
and

The absolute peak of absurdity was when Lord of the Rings: Return of the King walked away with 11 Oscars...
I suppose you could try to justify those wins for Titanic... actually, no, you really can't...

Well, redowl90, I wouldn't pay too much attention to that if I were you; I suppose they just made a tiny little slip-up by accident. 🙂

I honestly can't wait for them to stop making movies like this... I mean, it would be about time, wouldn't it? :-)

Alexei The Kozak said:Well, I don't know about that, because I honestly doubt anyone could actually film it and have it make any sense... those books are just so... unfilmable... plus, I'm kind of terrified that at least one of them would end up starring Vin Diesel...

Hmm... though, if you think about it, the sky lords certainly put their heart and soul into making them happen... and since they're a trilogy, that's really what's trending right now 😁

Honestly, I can't even begin to imagine Vin Diesel acting in the Foundation series, let alone in Hyperion. I really hope there are still some people with common sense left working in Hollywood. 😁

Personally, I think I’d really love to see something fresh on the screen for a change. For instance, maybe we could finally get some cinematic adaptations based on Asimov's Foundation series or perhaps even Simmons' Hyperion.
Steven Spielberg's early films in Movies ·
Just one quick question...
is there any truth to the rumors that Spielberg might be filming Hyperion, and does anyone happen to have any inside info on that?
To be honest, I wasn't particularly blown away by the movie... I mean, it’s fine if you're looking to pass the time, but I think the whole thing would have been much more impactful if, in Ivana Orleanska's story, God actually stepped in directly. It might have even been better if He sort of called her out quite harshly for all those visions of hers...

cro Fag said:well, I guess even Aslan feels the same way about it..

I'm honestly not quite sure why people feel that way.
😕

The whole thing is just a parody, so I suppose it shouldn't really be taken seriously in the first place.
It isn't even your run-of-the-mill comedy—most of the scenes are built on these weirdly paradoxical setups, which is exactly why they end up being so funny,

but maybe the issue is that it pokes fun at other movies too; if you haven't seen those originals, it's probably hard to truly grasp or appreciate the humor.

For instance,
that scene where they're messing with LL Cool J and that woman in the circle is just hilarious.
😂

And if someone hasn't actually watched Circle, they might struggle to see what the big deal is..
Since Circle portrays that group as this ultimate source of evil, this parody works by completely mocking the seriousness of the entire film.👍

Believe me, there are plenty of much better parodies out there than this one......

I think the first one is fantastic,
the second one isn't quite as good, though I suppose it's still perfectly watchable,

but the third one? It's an absolute riot...
I guess maybe it's because they swapped out the director and brought in a real pro,

Honestly, the movie is just total trash !!!!!🙂
Chicago Blackhawks fans said:That's just awful!

I mean, seriously, you folks from St. Louis, what exactly is your problem here?

I suppose it is quite sad, though I guess there might be one tiny silver lining in all of this... there isn't nearly as much whispering or other annoying distractions. For instance, I went to see Alexander yesterday, and the guy sitting right next to me wouldn't stop making crude comments about Alexander's wife and how he'd love to sleep with her. It was exhausting. On the flip side, we only have two small, pathetic theaters around here that show maybe two or four movies at most, and half the time you can't even catch them on screen—you basically have to wait until they hit the streaming services.

The one decent thing is that we don't get bombarded by commercials as much, and if we do, it's usually just one for Motorola.... plus, tickets aren't nearly as pricey; one ticket is only about $6.75.
