Putting ash on a wound? in Health ·
Melissa Kim45 said:You might be joking here,😁 but I've actually heard that works if you don't have any other way to clean out a wound and stuff...

khmmm... okay, so someone once seriously suggested I put a little urine on a cold sore😱
And they were totally dead serious!

As for those deep cuts, I have a total lifesaver... it's super effective—you just squeeze the juice from this specific plant right into the wound (it stings like crazy for a second, but wow)—and the healing time literally cuts in half.
Now, I have zero clue what its scientific name is, but back home we just call it wild carrot, and it grows everywhere like a weed... (if anyone grew up in the rural Midwest, you probably know exactly what I mean... that prickly little thing that pops up in your vegetable garden wherever you planted carrots or parsley).

My brother’s actually got a pair... he's super happy with them... drives totally fine with them on.
Not sure where you can find the best deals, I don't live in the US, but I know they're way pricier than your standard prescription glasses.

I don't really have much to add to this topic... just wanted to ask—who exactly is Enigma?😁
Secondhand smoke concerns in Health ·
Ugh, I seriously can't stand people who would rather pick a fight than just put out their cigarette in an enclosed space. It's so annoying!
My partner is a heavy smoker, but thank God he only does it in his own room... or heads outside.

I just had to share—I saw the cutest girl today! She had these insane green eyes (could’ve been contacts, who knows?), tons of freckles all over her nose and cheeks, and this wild, short red-orange haircut... she totally leaned into the whole freckled look and honestly? It was such a vibe.
Amy Martinez5, was that you??🙂

The absolute worst lyrics I’ve ever heard weren't even from some cheesy country song—it was more like "you're the frost and I'm the sun... you're the weed and I'm the hibiscus in my heart..."
🙂

Honestly, the runner-up for the worst line ever is probably... "I have proof we were together, I have proof of our lovemaking, I carry the proof inside me—it's called an unborn son."

Honestly, I didn't feel attacked at all—I was just sharing what happened when I cut bread out completely...

Elizabeth Perez57 said:So, were you actually eating meat, fish, fruit, veggies, potatoes, and sweets while on that diet? Or were you just barely eating anything at all and dropping way below what you actually need? Just wondering...

I skipped the sweets, and I rarely touch meat anyway.
As for everything else, I didn't really cut back much... basically, if my mom cooked it, I ate it, except for pasta and bread.
And honestly, I didn't feel great—my body probably isn't used to life without bread...😕
Like I said before—I don't think anyone’s gonna end up in the ER just because they aren't eating it, but bread itself definitely isn't "bad" for you.

Elizabeth Perez57 said:So, you tried one of those crazy fad diets and now you're sitting here acting like you actually miss bread?... Seriously?! 😉

Yeah, I was on this totally insane diet where I cut out everything except bread and pasta... you know, like spaghetti or all those heavy savory pies—those meat and cheese turnovers we Americans absolutely live for at every single meal...😁 ).
So, I basically didn't hold anything back...
Bread consumption habits in Health ·
So, back when I was sixteen, I went on this totally insane diet where I cut out bread entirely for a whole month... can you believe that?😁
The constant lightheadedness was unreal—like, everything would just flash before my eyes—and the skin on my fingertips was literally cracking, plus I couldn't stop feeling nauseous.
I don't know if it's a coincidence, but ever since I started eating homemade bread regularly (a mix of whole wheat and white flour), all those issues have vanished!😉
But hey, I doubt you'll end up in the ER over it.

Oh my god... seriously? "Why are you acting so high and mighty just because you have a degree?" That’s called being an expert! It’s called spending years actually studying the subject matter... and honestly, I’d way rather trust a chemist or a biochemist any day...
It’s just like telling a dentist—"You don't need to fix my tooth just because you went to school, I'll just read some instructions online and do it myself." Like, hello??
Btw, I don't drink Cola because I just don't like it, but it's not like my liver is going to fail the second I take a sip... plus, one time a while back, I left an Exer in my mug at work... and yeah, it stayed gross forever after that...

rustymoose54 said:What does pupil dilation have anything to do with checking your prescription?

The pupils get dilated so they can check out your retina using an ophthalmoscope...

They always test your visual acuity *before* they put the drops in to dilate everything, because once those pupils are huge, you definitely aren't seeing things normally!

Ugh, I have zero clue... I went in to get my medical clearance for my driver's license and I couldn't even read the letters on the chart. So they gave me the stuff to dilate my eyes and told me to wait a bit, then I had to look through all those different lenses and that's how he figured out my prescription.
Eye issues in Health ·
So, I finally went in today to get my pupils dilated... -1.5 and -0.7.
And my doctor actually had the nerve to ask why I waited this long!
Anyway, how long does it usually take before things start looking clear again? Everything is still super blurry for me right now (though I guess I can't complain too much...😳))
Eating Disorder Support & Recovery in Health ·
Listen, Little Red Riding Hood, you can't pull this off all by yourself... sooner or later you're gonna hit a crisis point—trust me, you need support, both from pros and from people close to you who can actually be there when things get heavy.
And just be ready for the fact that getting better doesn't happen overnight.
Eating Disorder Support & Recovery in Health ·
I’m totally siding with boldeagle3 on this one...

I actually know a girl who struggled with Eating Disorders... she was just trying to drop like 10 or 15 pounds, but she ended up looking like a literal skeleton. Every single time someone tried to point out how bad it looked, she’d just break down in hysterics...
It led to this long, super expensive recovery process, and just when it seemed like things were finally turning around, the girl DIED (she was barely even 20)... turns out she had secretly slipped right back into those old habits...

Don't play games with your life—get professional help before it's too late.
You have to realize when you're seriously ill.
If you had cancer, you wouldn't be looking for advice on a Forum or trying to fix yourself; you'd go straight to a doctor—and this needs that exact same mindset...

swiftbison7 said:I might’ve actually liked the movie if I hadn't already read the book first... ugh... 🙄

Honestly, the movie just didn't hit the mark for me. They tried to cram the entire book into a mere 90 minutes, and man, you could really feel it... So many key moments were just totally left on the cutting room floor, and that emotional tension? It just wasn't there. I missed all those deep vibes you get when you're actually reading the pages...

I honestly always get that same feeling whenever I finish a book and then go watch the movie... It’s like, no film can ever actually capture the vibe the way the author does—not when you've already built the whole world up in your own head!
Girl with a Pearl Earring in Movies ·
I’ve read the book but haven't actually sat down to watch the movie yet... honestly though, knowing Colin Firth is in it is enough for me to trust it'll be good!🙂
