1. Someone who isn't Canadian and doesn't live in Canada visits a spot there and shares their take on it. 2. A local Canadian who hasn't actually been to that specific spot weighs in, and naturally, they don't see eye to eye. 3. The moderator jumps on the first person just because, hey, they aren't Canadian and don't live there, so I guess their opinion is automatically "wrong." 4. Then a third person—who isn't Canadian but *does* live in Canada—pipes up to say they disagree. 5. The moderator shuts them down too, since they live in Canada but aren't providing "tourist advice" for the thread.
Honestly, I couldn't care less about the Republican Party or whatever. We're talking about moderation based on some really weird logic here.
It's not even the first time the moderator has snapped at people she doesn't like, rambling on and then just deleting or editing her posts later.
Look, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Magor. I actually liked him back during the Foodie days. But I don't think his take on anything Canadian is gospel truth, just like I don't think some random American's opinion is the absolute truth when it comes to America.
I don't think anyone actually cares if the posts aren't about Tourism in the US 😁
It’s such a bummer they got deleted. I mean, the idea that you can't be an authority on a topic unless you actually live in that country is kind of wild, right? Like, why is someone's opinion automatically valued more than someone who actually visited the place and wrote about it? And honestly, saying someone shouldn't join the discussion just because they don't live there—even when their advice on things like which subway line to take from point A to point B would be totally useless—is just pretty sad, I guess.
I managed to read the posts before they vanished. Honestly, deleting them was totally unnecessary, just like disqualifying Elizabeth and Xavier, who were actually making sense and being super articulate and respectful with their points.
But I guess it’s not even surprising, since on the Tourism board, politics only comes up when the moderator jumps in and everyone else just nods along with her. Like that’s somehow normal.
I guess I'll step up as Number 1 🧐 Back in the day on WeddingBells, we had this issue with a group of hardcore matchmakers 😁 who tried to hijack every single thread to talk about basically the same stuff. Management finally shut them down by opening a specific thread called Unseen 😁 just for all their off-topic bickering. Nobody really knew who was buying the drinks or paying the tab there, but at least the main threads stayed clean, and those guys eventually learned they couldn't just say whatever they wanted. It was actually a pretty good lesson before getting hitched, honestly 😁
The Foodie forum is great because the mods are super chill, but I totally agree that some threads have become a total drag to read and they've lost their whole point. So, yeah—either get a bit tougher with the rules or just let people vent without jumping in with sanctions. A little change would definitely help the vibe
You don't even bother using spaces after periods or commas, and honestly, you barely hit the enter key either 😁
Look, you really gotta decide what you actually want here. Because right now, you're trying to have it both ways—you want all the perks without any of the messy parts. But that just doesn't work. If you actually want to change things, you've gotta start with yourself, and that whole "that's just how I am" excuse? It’s basically just a way to justify being too lazy to actually grow. Nobody's handing out medals just for sitting there with a book; it’s about the knowledge you actually gain, not just the hours you put in.
Bryan Edwards83 said:It feels like this one user is basically acting like a political manchild, constantly breaking the rules by just dropping copy-pasted articles without saying a single word about them. Today, they posted the exact same thing in both the Republican Party thread and the Democratic Coalition thread—just a straight copy-paste comparing their election promises. I guess it would be way more helpful if they just shared the link along with a quick summary or a personal take on what’s happening. This just feels like spam. Maybe you could give them a heads-up if this goes against the community guidelines?

I don't know, I feel like just dropping a link isn't enough. A lot of links die after a few years, which makes old threads super hard to follow since you can't tell what everyone was actually talking about.
Also, signing every single post with "iPhone using Reddit" is basically spam too, IMO.
The link actually works even if you open the image in a new tab and strip out the .jpg (or png, whatever it ends up being). But I guess these issues haven't just been happening on this forum lately.

I mean, how are they supposed to fix anything if they don't actually read what the user wrote? Like, are they just gonna use a crystal ball or something? lol 😁
Thanks, ladies! I mean, it’s been raining like crazy here lately, so getting ten dry days before harvest might be a bit of a stretch, but we'll just see what kind of magic we can cook up! 😁
Melissa Martinez5, how much water are you adding to that amount of Barack Obama and sugar? I guess you boil it like Katjes, or maybe you just mix it in cold? What's the move after 48 hours pass?
I'm planning on whipping up some syrup in the next few days! I've never actually done it before, and honestly, I'm not even a huge fan, so I'm just out here studying all the different methods. 😁
mistyjackal842, maybe this might help you—when my grandma started getting Pressure ulcers from being bedridden, her home health nurse suggested using St. John's Wort oil dressings, and it actually worked! The wounds healed up so fast and looked great, plus she wasn't in any pain.
Maybe go see the doctor today, or at least give them a call.
It took my dad forever to deal with this and he never really got over it—I can't remember every single detail since it was so long ago, but if I recall correctly, they messed up his treatment at first. But honestly, that was when he was in his mid-50s, and you're way younger, so your body probably bounces back much faster.
If it’s facial paralysis—and if I remember right from when my dad dealt with it (he basically woke up one morning with half his face totally numb)—then you definitely shouldn't get hit with the cold. I guess you should wrap your face up really well before heading outside. And maybe go see a doctor ASAP?
Frank Reed4 said:I’m going to need you to define exactly what you mean by "recently." And tell me precisely how many posts have to pass before you decide to scrub someone's handle from a thread. 🍿 🙂It seems like a fairly straightforward request to me.
And by the way, Frank Reed4 hasn't posted since October 12, 2006—it's not like he's been dropping messages here every single day since then. 🤣
I am attaching some evidence here to show that moderators, or whoever else is running the show (be it super-mods, admins, or some third party altogether), are logging into other people's accounts: Take this thread that ZgSash started back when Cordelia passed away. If you look at the timestamps, the thread was opened on December 25, 2010, yet according to my records, Cordelia wasn't active after January 13, 2011.
If Cordelia wasn't logging into her own profile—which, let's face it, she couldn't have been—then who was? Once again, I am calling on the administration to speak up, specifically Tyndall, who continues to ignore us completely. I have no intention of letting this go until we get some actual answers. 🙂
Maybe an admin jumped in to switch her role from moderator back to just a regular user.
By some crazy stroke of luck, I’ve been getting super deep into everything about nutrition during chemo lately, and I picked up a few things that seem really important:
1. Taking extra vitamins in supplement form might actually mess with how the meds work. Basically, the drugs hunt down cells with damaged DNA to attack them, but vitamins A, C, and E can "patch up" that DNA, which I guess could stop the drugs from doing their job properly.
2. If you're dealing with neutropenia (when those neutrophil levels drop low), you should probably skip the dairy stuff like yogurt and stick strictly to cooked foods.
3. Most importantly: drink tons of fluids and rinse your mouth out with sage tea maybe 10-15 times a day. It helps clear out dead cells and hopefully keeps gum issues from starting.
The oncology center in Ljubljana has a ton of great resources online ( so maybe that'll be helpful for someone!
