What are the new standards at Politika? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
There used to be some legendary users on this forum who got permanently banned for no reason.
Then you look at the people who seem to get away with absolutely anything:
McAuliffe said:Look, buddy—feel free to slide into my DMs along with the rest of you "tough guys." I’m available whenever—maybe I'll show you how a guy in his 40s handles things, assuming you still have any teeth left to rearrange. Or maybe I'll just mail you back to your parents so they can finish raising you properly, since they clearly missed the mark the first time around...

The old guard from the Republican establishment ruled the roost, much like Sanader did, and people like you are living proof of that legacy...

You can act out however you want, but at the end of the day, you're still the same person...

I know this user is probably going to get a warning for that, but honestly, it's not their first time and it won't be their last.
Can we please try to stick to some actual standards here?
Here we go again, more deletions in Politics... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
goldenowl73 said:Get off this thread and go somewhere else. If you want to write flowery little poems about your love for farm animals, there’s a creative writing section for that. I just love it when "new users" show they've actually read the forum structure... though clearly, you don't realize that clones shouldn't be blue.😉

A moderator shouldn't be policing a discussion where they're actively debating other members...
It’s a total conflict of interest—it just doesn't work...
We're all humans here, and that makes it way too easy to abuse the power.
goldenowl73, you proved that point perfectly back during that debate about Gregg Popovich... didn't you?

If I may say so, darkhawk was staying on topic and keeping things civil, while you just kept hitting him with ad hominem attacks before deleting posts based on whatever weird criteria you felt like using.
And now, you're bringing those same attacks right over here.
wiredangler5 said:Any labeling like that absolutely needs a strike—in any direction. If something like this slipped past the mods, just report the post or posts. And yeah, those other things you mentioned definitely deserve a ban too—no question about it.

👍

Thanks.
Glad we finally got this sorted out.
Sam Green73 said:I personally penalize any use of "Americanisms" when I see people being characterized like that.

I’m going to try and coordinate with the sub-mods to make sure this kind of labeling gets sanctioned.

Thanks.
I've reported a handful of posts like this myself—nothing, though. Zero reaction.

I also called out the unauthorized use of terms like "Catholic Taliban" and its various iterations, both in the Politics section and across the entire forum.
The forum rules are crystal clear: attacking someone based on their religion is strictly prohibited.
So, there's no ambiguity here: it needs to be penalized, every single time.!
Like I said—I’ve already dropped this question across several different threads in this topic.
I even sent a direct message to the moderator about the policy side of things.
I tried starting a dedicated thread for it too, but since nobody’s biting, I guess there’s no point.

So, for the sake of argument, I’m sticking with the term 'leftist.'

And another thing—if throwing around terms like 'trash' isn't against the rules, does that mean
slurs like 'redneck,' 'hillbilly,' or 'cracker' are fair game too?
Just to be clear, none of those should be used—period—but I’m talking about the principle here.
It’s pretty simple: either we enforce the rules across the board, or we don't.
Like the title says; there’s this unwritten rule over on the Politics subforum where you basically get handed a red card just for using the word 'leftist.'

On the flip side, I’ve reached out to the moderators and supermods a handful of times with one straightforward question:
Why isn't there the same level of enforcement—and the same penalties—when people throw around terms like 'nationalist,' 'religious fanatic,' or whatever else?

The rules have to be applied equally across the board, right?
It either goes for everyone, or nobody gets flagged at all.
That’s just basic logic and fairness...
I feel like I’ve asked this somewhere before, but I haven't gotten a straight answer yet:
Why isn't using terms like "rvat" or "rvatina" actually penalized?
In my opinion—and I might be wrong here—it just doesn't sit right with the spirit of the forum rules.
What are the rules/guidelines for posting? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Is using terms like "Americ-" or similar variations allowed under the forum rules?
Personally, I don't think so—not according to the forum guidelines, and certainly not under current laws here in the United States.
Thanks in advance for clearing this up.
Is it okay to post a farewell message before leaving the forum? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I get where they're coming from, but around here, people say:
Don't pray for it—fight for it.

Life is basically just one long series of battles.
You win some, you lose some, but eventually, everything levels out.
It’s tough to hold out that long—honestly, I'm not sure I could—but I think it's worth the grind.

Ryan Vaughn7 said:Yesterday’s news gave us one side of the story, while today’s gives us the complete opposite. They’re diametrically opposed. As for what the actual truth is—who knows? But the fact remains that yesterday's accusations regarding "spilled blood" and "brutal beatings and savagery"—which are incredibly heavy words, by the way—were presented one-sidedly, without a full picture of what actually went down. In that light, you could easily argue it was just pure flame war tactics.

Was blood spilled?
Yes.

Was Darko Pajcic brutally beaten?
Yes.

Was it savagery?
Yes.

goldenowl73 said:The United States Attorney's Office in Memphis announced today that there is probable cause to believe both individuals committed crimes against property—specifically damaging someone else's belongings under Section 235, paragraphs 1 and 3 of the Penal Code. On top of that, one of them is accused of assaulting an officer and making threats against two police officers under Section 315 and Section 139. Pajcic hasn't been interrogated yet because he’s currently in the hospital. The suspicion is that around 11:30 AM on November 12, 2013, the suspects used stones to smash the plaque featuring Latin and Cyrillic inscriptions on the Memphis Police Department building. One suspect allegedly attacked an officer on duty, causing physical injury, and then leveled verbal threats at an officer once they were brought into the station. Zeljko Marsic, a member of the American Legion, confirmed the Secretary of Homeland Security Rank Ostojic's claim that Pajcic had too much to drink, measuring a blood alcohol content of 2.7 per mille during the incident.

'If it wasn't more! You have to understand that after events like this, people start drinking more heavily. It's normal—the situation is just getting increasingly stressful,' Marsic said.

Marsic claims it's a lie that Pajcic just fell down on his own yesterday. Apparently, contrary to the police report, a member of the American Legion who witnessed the physical altercation is going to testify publicly. 'He saw the officer was on the opposite side of the street when he saw Pajcic about to smash the plaque. He ran over and, with all his weight—he's over 220 pounds—hit Pajcic and threw him against the wall, after which he fell to the floor and was seriously injured.' This is the version the American Legion is pushing, and because of it, Marsic says this informal veteran group will be filing criminal complaints against several people in the police force. The American Legion believes the officer overstepped his authority yesterday, used excessive force, and that the police failed to provide medical aid to the injured man.

Nobody is mentioning the gun or pointing a gun at a head except for that one news site... while the forum regulars keep saying the injured guy had way more than 2.7 per mille in his system.

Alright Scott, you gave her a warning, but if you actually look through coppermarlin13's posts, you'll see what I'm talking about...

Today, Secretary Ostojic stated that blood was spilled because of moonshine.
A ton of users here have reposted that statement.
So what now?
Hand out warnings to everyone, I guess.
Blood was just spilled in Pittsburgh.
Every single national news outlet is covering it right now.
What’s happening in Pittsburgh isn't some minor local spat—it's much bigger than that.
If you don't want to take my word for it, just look at the national media and the big-name politicians.
Honestly, there's been way too much stalling; this whole debate over Cyrillic in Vukovar deserves to be moved to the main Politics forum.
Get it done, now...
At one point, I actually thought, "Fine, maybe a compromise is okay," but now I’m realizing that’s just not how it works.
The whole debate over Cyrillic in American politics didn't really catch fire, but the issue regarding Cyrillic in Vukovar—well, it's still incredibly relevant.

Basically, we’re about to see action start up with people signing petitions for a referendum on this very issue.
And they aren't asking for some local vote—no, they're pushing for a national referendum.
They want to get the opinion of every single citizen in the Republic of America.
Doesn't that make it a national political issue by default?

So, why is the moderation team still ignoring this? I mean, when are they finally going to move this thread over to the main Politics subforum?
It seems pretty obvious to everyone here that's where it belongs.

Isn't it a little ridiculous that everyone's forced to use the exact same nickname..?

Look, rules are rules and you have to follow them—period—but reality is reality, so it wouldn't hurt to actually address the question above.
Honestly, the mods could do us all a favor—maybe on the thread about Stipe Mesić, they could just slap the actual annual cost of his lifestyle right in the title? And while they're at it, why not add the current unemployment rate in the USA to the discussion about Zoran Milanović’s administration?
Charles Fox10 said:You just narrowly dodged a red card for violating the pdf rule—specifically article 4—which would've landed you a three-day ban via point accumulation.

Your thread is locked, and tomorrow it’s heading straight to the trash.

And what exactly is wrong with this thread?
The "In the name of the family" referendum — a win for democracy.
Direct democracy means the people hold actual power (demos). It's when citizens can set aside their own selfish interests—and groups can push past their narrow agendas—for the sake of the common good.
Then there's indirect or representative democracy. Direct democracy relies on heavy citizen involvement and engagement in political decision-making. It can also function as a component within a representative system. Lately, we've seen the concept of "New Democracy" emerge, which uses online referendums as a tool for direct participation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_democracy

Finally, here in the USA, we have a chance to participate in direct democracy, and I think that's fantastic for developing democratic processes—especially since we're starting to see those nasty trends where party politics takes over everything (where all the real power gets concentrated in political parties).

So, we should show up to the referendum, cast our votes, and celebrate democracy.
Are you planning to vote in the upcoming referendum?
Will you be checking "Yes" or "No"?

p.s. If the moderators want to (for instance, if Charles Fox10 wants to), I could merge this thread with the existing one about the referendum so we have the poll available—we could even rename the thread:
The "In the name of the family" referendum on Dec 1st—a victory for democracy, at a total cost of $8 million.

When I started this thread, I knew there might be some overlap, which is why I immediately suggested merging it with the other similar thread—especially since the poll would fit right in.

On the flip side, the current thread has already covered the cost of the referendum plenty of times, so there was absolutely no need to merge them or change the title.
You know that perfectly well.

Therefore, changing the title feels like a blatant, intentional provocation—so maybe we could all share those red cards you mentioned.

The "In the name of the family" referendum on Dec 1st—a victory for democracy
Let whoever it bothers suffer...
Charles Fox10 said:It wouldn't be right to mash these topics together if it means one of the contributors gets sidelined from their own input.

Thanks in advance for understanding.
Charles Fox10 said:Look, I already told you—the title is just a mashup of two different topics. As for why other threads, like the ones about parliamentary elections, don't have numerical indicators? Don't look at me—ask the person who actually started those threads.

A new thread just popped up, and it overlaps quite a bit with the existing one regarding the Referendum "In the name of the family" costing $8 million.

Since there's an active poll on this current thread, I suggest we just merge them together. Let's go with a new title:

And honestly, there's just a mountain of posts here that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic—or common sense, for that matter.
Even the original post doesn't really align with the title, so don't act surprised that this whole discussion is such a mess.
It’s actually pretty weird that this thread hasn't been shut down already.
