... I'm honestly just glad you went into nursing because it was what you actually wanted, since that means you'll probably actually enjoy the work. Just like how I totally love my 🙂, though from what I've gathered about Benjamin Murphy2, it's definitely not all sunshine and rainbows

... and look, it's not like everyone in my field works the way I do... there are people out there with free weekends and stuff, but since my dad did this exact same job his entire life, I guess I was just totally prepared for whatever came my way 🙂

I mean, yeah, I agree our system is basically a dumpster fire and it feels like everyone just gets handed things instead of actually getting help through incentives, more jobs being created, or specialized training... but you can't blame the patients in a small town like Flint for everything... or us folks here in Washington, D.C. later on...

People need to realize that we’re setting money aside from our paychecks every single month, and it's not our fault if your paychecks are tiny, or if the American healthcare system is a mess, or if certain idiots—and I'm sure those arrogant, rude patients have that same attitude toward the cashier at Target too—just don't respect the profession

... regarding the other doctor, it wasn't about moving files around; the first one was through the disability commission (after which my mom kept working even though she risked going on permanent disability), and the second was through the state disability board...

My job and the commission thing are really just examples for comparison, and I seriously wouldn't want the thread to turn into an off-topic mess just because of me 🙂
Benjamin Murphy2 said:Do you honestly think I could have figured all this out while I was still in med school? It's kind of late for that now, since you don't just change your title in your mid-thirties. I'm making it work somehow, I guess, it's just that sometimes, when I'm stuck at work from sunrise to sunrise all through a Sunday, I can't help but think that I could've made it in life even without this whole thing.

Wait, hold up, are you seriously telling me you had no clue what the labor rights or the actual responsibilities were for the career you wanted to do forever?
Did it really never cross your mind to, I don't know, actually sit down and talk to a doctor to find out what you were signing up for?

I work—and yeah, my job is totally soul-crushing—including Saturdays, Sundays, day shifts, night shifts, holidays, everything... but at least I knew what I was getting into, so I'm not complaining...

At the end of the day, none of us are to blame because you picked the wrong profession for yourself. We definitely didn't sign up for some crappy, inhumane treatment, and honestly, there are a ton of doctors like that out there—not saying you are one, obviously...

Look, let me give you an example. You're a doctor, so you tell me: what am I supposed to say to a doctor who, just 42 days after surgery, sends back a 50-year-old woman to the exact same spot, knowing she's already had two surgeries that same year, and it's her fifth one ever, bruh?

And forget about Medicare and their little guidelines; six months later, another doctor suggested disability for her, and she actually got it without any shady business or cutting corners...

So, like, what do you say to that first doctor? Do we celebrate them like they're some kind of saint just because they have an MD, or do we call them out for being heartless, irresponsible, and unprofessional?

P. S. On a different note, I have an amazing OBGYN and a really great guy at the local clinic near the Holy Spirit hospital, and those are the real deal doctors to me🙂
Seriously, you haven't even proven a thing yet 😢
Benjamin Murphy2 said:brisknomad6, you're overreacting.

i'm not overreacting... I mean, in my opinion, a doctor really needs more than just technical skill—they need actual humanity, empathy, and this genuine drive to actually explain things to people...

this young lady seems to think all doctors are basically gods who deserve our constant worship... and, honestly, she thinks everyone treats her like a friend just because she's studying medicine, which is something I don't even want to talk about...
khm... knowing Latin doesn't exactly mean you have a way with words😉

but I guess you just can't seem to wrap your head around that😬

PS honestly, I really hope I never end up in a situation where you're the one treating me at the hospital one day

northerntiger9 said:So far, I’ve only really tried switching out the buckle on those cheap fabric belts—you know, the big metal ones—and messing with some button fly jeans that kept giving me an allergic reaction. It actually works so far 👍

brisknomad6, seriously though, maybe try something super cheap first before you go diving in and dropping a ton of cash on a fancy watch 😬

I think I'm gonna go bug my boyfriend to get me a chain that just has a plain metal clasp 😁 😁

don't tell me it's gonna be super shiny?

how long does it take?

like, is it 100% glossy?

can I just go buy a watch and actually wear it?

weeeeeeeeeeee 🙂

just deal with it 😁

so if you're allergic to nickel, then yeah, you basically can't touch costume jewelry at all 😉

maybe try wearing an undershirt, skip the belt, and just tuck a little scrap of fabric over the buckle

Carl Lee4 said:I woke up on my own today at 7:50 AM 😁, and I made sure to head straight to the bathroom 🙂. I drink a ton of tea before bed, usually hitting the sheets around 11 PM.

I don't really get this part though... how is that even possible? Like, how much fluid are you actually drinking?

Because me? I’m getting up like five times a night just because I have to pee.😢
rowdylynx38 said:Would you guys actually report it if someone tried to shake you down for a bribe?

oh, totally

I mean, I was honestly ready to head straight to the police station... I probably would've even shown up to the hand-off with a voice recorder tucked in my bag, just in case.

You want some firsthand experience?

Here you go,

though I gotta say, I have a feeling an experience LIKE THAT might not really be your style, you know?

I highly doubt our little polite exchange is actually gonna fix anything...

Look, if you're struggling with stuff, like, mental health issues or whatever, maybe just go talk to a therapist or a psychiatrist or someone? Just a thought.

go ahead and make up some chores 🙂
if you can't even manage to drag yourself out of bed on your own anymore 😬

I mean, I've got my dog and my grandpa to look after 😁
and honestly, way more than enough going on to make sure I don't sleep through everything 🙂

PS, I think when you're waking up at 7 AM like that, your body is basically just telling you it's had plenty of lounging for one lifetime 🙂

So, I think I need to vent about this one nurse for a sec

I actually had to practically beg the lady just to get my follow-up appointment scheduled after my surgery...

Man, I bet you'll see it popping up all over the internet soon 🙂

I mean, someone from the fanbase is definitely gonna upload 🙂

Thanks for all the help, guys. Feeling way better now after some whiskey and tea. 👋

Honestly, those posts in the food forums are nothing but trolling... you should probably just head over to Reddit, they'll actually get your sense of humor there and think you're hilarious...

Glad to hear that nonsense isn't bugging you anymore. 🙂
