And here we go, now that Pannic got triggered by his posts being deleted, he’s out here calling out the mods (which they gotta do since he’s biased on PZ) and now he’s probably gonna catch a ban.
The guy had his post wiped like three or four times the other night before he finally got a warning, and it was actually a clean post, I even have a screenshot.
What's happening over there is just wrong, super tacky, and honestly, it’s crossing a line.

People aren't even posting there anymore, because whatever they write just gets nuked.

Yeah, maybe.
If you set it to 0, it usually means there’s no limit, so I guess the poll stays live as long as the thread isn't locked.

Anyway, this whole topic is pretty outdated for the 21st century. Like, most of us have heated bathrooms and hot water now. Plus, you can find basically any soap you want at a CVS or something... lavender, eucalyptus, whatever. So I guess it's no wonder someone got weirded out by the question and shut the thread down.😁

The issue is it resizes everything to the exact same dimensions. I ran into one like that where it took a tiny 100x100 pic and stretched it to 640x480, making it look all blurry and distorted. 🙂

I guess maybe you can tweak the settings differently.

There’s also that other plugin where everything stays small, but then when you hover over it, it pops up at its actual size without getting warped. Not sure if they have a version for VB, though.

To me, that's definitely the best way to handle images.

I don't even know how many posts you've edited, or if any others were changed besides this one sentence we've been stuck on all day. I don't really keep track of stuff like that.

I don't know how you moderate, but it seems obvious to me it should just be systematic, like post 1, then 2, then 3...

My take on edits:
The edit option requires a massive amount of trust in mods, because they basically have a tool that could be abused. Especially since we can't see what a post looks like after it's been wiped, so they could easily present a fake version of things. I'm not accusing Ryan Vaughn7 of doing anything like that, it's just a flaw in the software, and someone could exploit that gap eventually. But since nothing is perfect, we just have to trust that the people moderating are being straight with us.

Even when editing happens, users should probably be notified. Like, a yellow card system would be perfect—send them a DM instead of making it awkward by calling out modified posts ourselves.

We're responsible for what we write; we consider it our own content, even if technically once you hit "submit," it belongs to you guys per the rules. Still, we should have control over how our posts look, and in turn, take the heat if they break the rules.
If you give us rules to follow, give us the right to keep our posts looking the way we want them to. If there's a mismatch between the content and the rules, the tools to fix it are in your hands anyway.

I read through the whole thread today and I gotta say the mods did a killer job, especially keeping things from getting totally out of hand
They left some posts that probably would've been nuked otherwise, but since they were tangled up in replies, deleting them would've trashed half the discussion and all those good posts explaining stuff people didn't get

The thread got cleaned up more today, even though the posts I complained about were still there after my post and the one from Saurus got deleted. 😍

I guess I'm glad my little intervention worked and the mods are actually making this readable again.

The only thing that still bugs me is them editing my posts. How many did they change? I have a ton in here, too lazy to scroll and check because it's such a wall of text. 🙂

And the worst part is the post from Saurus and mine that got deleted for no reason—they were super detailed and clearly marked as tangents, but they had actual substance. Saurus had one really solid point, and mine was basically an analysis based on my own experience asking if people would actually vote for HRAST. It just shows what I was trying to say, which matters to me, so we don't just get this image pushed that this whole thing is just some group of rigid right-wing maniacs.

Missing posts from this thread too. Especially since last night. I'm asking the mod to explain why my post and Saurus's post were deleted, while all these trollish, useless counter-posts stay up and contribute nothing to what I thought was actually a decent discussion.
