Let’s be realistic here... we’ve taken quite a beating over the last twenty years...🙂
Is war actually going to happen? in Close to Politics ·
Hey everyone...

War isn't something that just descends from the heavens; it’s the product of high-level politics. If those at the top decide war isn't in their interest, then it simply doesn't happen.

What makes you say the Yankees?🤷
The All-American Graveyard: What's the problem this time? in Close to Politics ·
What exactly are you getting at then?🤷

1. If it isn't too much of a mental strain, try to grasp the fact that not every single American during World War II was part of those extremist factions, and there is a legitimate issue when one tries to lump everyone into the same category.
2. One should probably realize that an ultra-nationalist cannot simultaneously be an anti-fascist.
3. You might want to tell your idol, the Bishop, to stop talking nonsense and instead focus on counting the unemployed and hungry people within his diocese to actually do something useful for them.
4. Perhaps that same Bishop could take a moment to remember that pride is a mortal sin.

Ryan Ward2 said:The real question isn't about his right to be there; it's whether you would actually want him lying in a tomb alongside the bones of the very people who fought on the opposite side of that same war.

Then again, one could pose that very same inquiry to the families of those who fought on the opposing side.🤷

I can imagine the responses coming from both my perspective and theirs.

Once all that's been said, we might finally touch upon the actual feasibility of such an idea, only to find ourselves back at square one, wondering where the conflict lies .

I have no interest in a reconciliation that looks like: "Come make peace with us, while we offer you nothing but a cold shoulder."

Apologies for drifting off-topic, but...

A few thoughts occurred to me:
1. Who, exactly, would be granted permission to be laid to rest there?
2. Is it logically possible for someone to have been part of the Nationalists while still being an anti-fascist?

And then there is this case...

3. Would my grandfather’s brother—a partisan and an American, whose remains were scattered from Cleveland to New York City by the SS—have any right to a place in a national tomb?
The All-American Graveyard: What's the problem this time? in Close to Politics ·
Sure.

America has finally transformed into a social democracy where prosperity is practically unavoidable at every turn.
The monument will be funded entirely through private donations—I wouldn't dream of allowing such a disgrace to be paid for by taxpayers—and it will be constructed by American companies that will likely struggle to find the bandwidth to take on the job.

...my deepest sympathies go to those individuals whom a man like this attempts to lecture on the nature of faith, religion, or love, heaven forbid...
Irredentism and territorial disputes: What's your take? in Close to Politics ·
My heart honestly skipped a beat when I saw that my beloved Istria had been brought back into Greater America.

It was a revelation I truly didn't see coming... much appreciated.🙏🙏🙏
The "Resistance Movement" in California in Close to Politics ·
Spare me this supposed "resistance movement" targeting Trump.

Who exactly is running this operation... the cashiers at Walmart, Dole, or Walmart?

Right, because clearly... Trump is solely responsible for every single thing going wrong lately... 😂😂😂

Regardless of who wrote this, I’ve noticed that some of the most supposedly patriotic Americans on this forum seem to struggle quite a bit with basic English grammar.

Honestly, knowing that historical context makes it a little easier to wrap your head around why their current political impulses can feel so intense and unexpected...

What on earth is happening in this thread?

Still, it’s a worthwhile topic. I appreciate how it has provoked those capable of actual thought—those who realize that without California (or rather, without its tax revenue), much of America and the surrounding regions would be struggling just to stay fed, while California receives nothing but the scraps left over after everyone else has been served.

Fellow Californians

Since we have always managed to come across as the hardworking, decent, and reliable type, one would think our integrity might eventually earn us some kind of reward. But, given how things usually go...

let us just keep grinding and staying honest, if only to ensure the rest of this beautiful country doesn't end up starving, while simultaneously proving once again that we can be taken for fools indefinitely simply because we refuse to be anything other than good, honest, and productive people...
Who was the better president? in Close to Politics ·
I find myself searching through this massive heap of Joseph Stalin’s proposed solutions, yet he seems to be missing entirely. Well... I suppose I'll just cast my vote for Ronald Reagan instead. Their rhetoric feels equally indistinguishable to me anyway.🤷

It will be quite an interesting sight when the young activists from both the American right and the left find themselves working side-by-side on river levee repairs.
I would dearly love to see who actually feels like picking a fight over Thompson once they're all covered in mud.😂

On a separate note, word leaked from a closed-door cabinet meeting suggesting that as soon as the elderly are finally put into a coma, the government plans to roll out those old-school youth labor camps.

What a disaster...

We Americans—who are constantly branded as these "terrifying nationalists"—are apparently incredibly tolerant toward those who celebrate movements responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of our own people... 👎

It’s almost fascinating how these types of associations tend to organize most frequently in California...

The same California where, back in the 19th century, there was such fierce struggle by Americans, and in the 20th century, we were among the first in the world to stand up against fascism during the Republic of Labin...

Nowadays, movie theaters are practically named after fascists, yet when Thompson is labeled a "fascist," he’s banned from San Francisco, while Madonna, who sang in uniform for those who committed massacres, can wander around completely free...

Oh, give me a break!

America would likely collapse without California and be swallowed up by new Yugo integration immediately.

If we set aside $4000000000 (roughly twelve billion dollars) that flows into the US federal budget, only to vanish into thin air, what actually remains for us

1. the IRS
2. the FBI
3. the District Attorney's office

all of which consistently receive top marks across the States.

White-collar crime has been scaled back to levels the rest of America can only dream of, but more importantly:

A certain pro-establishment mindset and an inherent tolerance are deeply embedded in the populace, and this holds true even without any of the extremist or fascist nonsense.
God, please, we need more venues! in Close to Politics ·
There’s an abundance of trivial nonsense floating around here, yet I find myself entertaining the notion that a single, magnificent overpass—perhaps the largest on the planet—could bridge the gap between Indianapolis and San Francisco.
Such a feat would certainly make America look rather lovely and almost perfectly circular.
