The truth about the Oscars in Movies ·
Watching this just reminded me of my biggest gripe with the Academy Awards: the fact that *Goodfellas* didn't even land a single nomination. In my opinion, that is easily one of the greatest pieces of Hollywood cinema ever produced. I have no idea who decided to scoop up all the glory that year, but they certainly didn't deserve it. To me, it just proves that winning isn't always about the quality of the film; there is always something else at play. There is no way a masterpiece like that went unnoticed. Every year, people ask why Scorsese hasn't taken home an Academy Award yet, but personally, I think he absolutely should have won one for that specific film. I suspect there are some "outside" factors involved—honestly, we never truly know what kind of politics are happening behind closed doors in those circles.

That year was actually incorrect. He was a nominee...

The 1991 awards season was truly a remarkable era for American cinema. It remains one of my favorite years to revisit.

The biggest mistake was when Lord of the Rings: Return of the King walked away with 11 Oscars.
You could try to justify those Oscars for Titanic, but honestly? You really can't.

Think about it. Return of the King. He swept the Oscars for the entire trilogy. Just watch it as if it were one single ten-hour epic.

Perhaps the votes for the nominations have already been tallied. The results will be released later, of course. I've heard that authors are often notified ahead of time but are expected to keep it under wraps. Maybe that’s what happened here... except it seems like Fox slightly messed up. A total coincidence, naturally.
Firewall settings? in Software ·
I’ve used ZoneAlarm Pro myself, and honestly, it isn't bad at blocking threats compared to Norton. However, Norton is a whole different beast entirely. My issue with ZoneAlarm is that it asks for permission for every little thing—like whether I want to move my mouse to the left or right. It felt like way too much hassle, so I decided it wasn't for my PC anymore. Now, I am searching for a "less annoying" firewall that won't nag me about every trivial action, but rather just handles the blocks itself based on its own logic. If something actually needs blocking, I can always step in and handle it manually.

Set the program control to medium and set smart defense to auto.

Watch out for spoilers... I already know how it ends and who dies. Leave some surprises for me, please!
Armor of Gods in Movies ·
I would highly recommend watching the new Police Story... I can forgive all those other movies he made outside of Asia just because of this one. It might actually be his best work. The silly bits and all that nonsense with the fish are finally gone.

We really missed out on that getaway from NYC!

Did anyone actually make it out of the 90s with their muscle intact? Surely we haven't been left with nothing but Vin Diesel.

I actually posted about this game on its own thread.

I just can't keep all these details straight..

Die Hard.He managed to maintain high quality through three different editions. It was actually quite a tough call for me between him and Terminator.

Mulholland Drive and everything else by Angelo Badalamenti

Badalamenti composed music for the game Fahrenheit as well.

To quote my friend Zdenko: "There simply needs to be a three-hour movie starring Brad Pitt specifically for women."
Frailty (Angel and Demon) in Movies ·
Here is an example of how to make a great movie. It’s low-budget compared to those massive Hollywood blockbusters, simple, original, uses minimal special effects, and features a small cast.
Dreamcatcher in Movies ·
It was a similar vibe with Tommy Knockers. You have those demons and dolls flying around, and then you finally realize the whole thing was actually about aliens..
Dressed to Kill in Movies ·
I'm watching the part where the kid sets up the camera by the door... the next scene I recall is the closing credits. The worst part is that Naked Lunch was playing right after it. I actually slept through that one; I just didn't have the energy. When you compare the opening to the actual plot... you think you're in for some romantic drama, but then fifteen minutes later, it's pure . To make matters worse, my DVD collection has a pretty limited selection, so I'll have to track down a better copy

Dark Water in Movies ·
Americans love seeing things get bloody, especially when they get to watch the main villain finally die. The Japanese approach is different; they lean into demons—it’s more about those indestructible forces and much cheaper special effects...
Scream in Movies ·
The movie was fantastic. Honestly, the horror genre had been totally stagnant, but this really breathed new life into it. My only gripe is that it kicked off this massive trend of teen-centric slashers again. To be fair, nothing since then has even come close to its level... if only we didn't have all those Japanese remakes to deal with.
I am familiar with the Golden Raspberries. Arnold picked up a few, but Sly holds the actual record. I believe he even snagged one for his lifetime achievement. It is worth noting that Sly actually has two Academy Awards for the first Rocky film—one for acting and one for the screenplay. That is quite an accomplishment.
Here is the IMDb breakdown:

The ten awards from the Razzies that he's won are Worst Actor of 1985 for Rhinestone (1984), Worst Actor of 1986 for both Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) and Rocky IV (1985), Worst Director of 1986 for Rocky IV (1985), Worst Screenplay of 1986 with James Cameron and Kevin Jarre for Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Worst Actor of 1989 for Rambo III (1988), Worst Actor of the Decade (1980's), Worst Actor of 1993 for Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992), Worst Screen Couple of 1995 with Sharon Stone in The Specialist (1994), Worst Actor of the Century, and Worst Supporting Actor of 2004 for Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003).
And as for Arnold:
Is the only person to receive Razzie nominations for Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Couple (with himself cloned) in the same year. All for the same movie, The 6th Day (2000).
