Brian Wilson said:Hey guys! Quick question for the experts here—does anyone actually get how protein works if, say, I just go out for a run and then smash some shakes afterward? I’m curious about what happens to specific muscle groups, like my arms. If I’m hitting the pavement but totally ignoring arm day, are those muscles just gonna stall out even if I'm keeping my protein intake high? Basically, does the protein actually "find" the muscles I worked, or am I just wasting the gains on parts of my body I haven't even touched? Help a guy out!

So, I’ve been thinking about this one! If someone is out there crushing distance runs constantly while also slamming massive amounts of protein, how does that actually play out in the body? Like, would all that extra protein just end up building muscle exclusively in the legs, or what?

🤣

No way, you've gotta be kidding me! 😁

Look, I’m telling you right now—running isn't exactly going to help me bulk up my legs. I mean, have you ever actually looked at a marathon runner? Their legs are lean, shredded, and definitely not massive. If I want some real size down there, I can't just lace up my sneakers and go for a jog!
Maybe if he switches things up with some sprints or hits those intense HIIT sessions—you know, just not by grinding out heavy squats all day long!
Honestly, if you think running is going to give you killer legs, you’re probably someone who’s never actually laced up a pair of running shoes before! Trust me, I've been there, but let's be real—if you want actual muscle, you gotta hit the weights.

So, regarding that question you had about my arms...
Seriously though, how on earth do you expect to pack on some serious mass if you aren't even hitting the gym? It just doesn't add up! I mean, I love a good cheat meal as much as the next guy, but you can't just sit on the couch all day and expect to look like an NFL linebacker. You've gotta put in the work!

Andrew Jackson2 said:Hey, I heard some rumors about protein supplements messing with your growth and development, but I honestly can't tell if it's legit or just nonsense. 😁

Oh yeah, you heard right. If you go down that road, you're basically signing away your chance at having kids later on.
There’s also a pretty high chance your teeth will start falling out after just one tub of whey protein.
Plus, your skin is gonna sag uncontrollably exactly 22 days after you stop taking those PROTEINS. If you want to avoid this total disaster, there might be a cure out there somewhere.

My expert medical advice? Go out and grab seven earthworms from some fresh dirt, eat one every morning at 4:30 AM, and wash them down with some heavy-duty moonshine every day for a week.

But seriously, don't forget that all this "danger" applies even if you're just eating normal stuff like eggs, chicken, fish, cheese, and anything else packed with PROTEIN.

Hope that clears things up for ya!

slydriver52 said:Hey man, could you please drop a link to whoever’s selling that 2.5kg tub of Impact Whey for $83?

I haven't had a chance to read through every single comment here, but I figured I'd jump in and say something quick.

I've got some Myprotein Impact Whey unflavored in a 5kg bag $167.
And I also have the flavored 5kg version $200.

Just a guy from the local gym forum selling his extra stock.

As far as the nutritional info goes, here’s what it says:

Myprotein/30g
Calories 118.0kcal
Energy 497.0kJ
Protein (dry basis) 24.6g (82%)
Protein (as-is) 23.6g (78.6%)
Fat 2.1g (7%)
Carbs 1.8g (6%)

The massive 5kg bags don't actually show that specific chart on the front. It basically just lists the ingredients inside.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/whey.html

And how does it stack up against something like Dymatize?

So, check it out—there's this guy over at the local gym who runs his own little supplement side-hustle through the community boards.

He’s got Myprotein unflavored 5kg bags $167, plus the flavored 5kg ones $200.
Honestly, if you want the best bang for your buck, that's the move. It's definitely not some inferior stuff compared to the big brands.

Steven Nguyen87 said:Why is that such a big deal? At least the guy is actually being consistent—hitting the gym regularly—and if he wants to focus on specific muscle groups, that’s his business, not anyone else's! Plus, asking which proteins are best is a question half the people on this thread ask anyway...

Well, because it is.

He's asking which protein is the best way to go.

Wants an answer? Easy: chicken, turkey, eggs, low-fat cottage cheese, fish, red meat...
That's your protein list right there.

If he just wants some whey protein to supplement his diet after a workout, honestly, it doesn't even matter which one he picks. That supplement isn't some magic potion.
Whether it's Dymatize elite whey, MyProtein, or Bulk Nutrition (though some people swear those give them the runs), it's all pretty much the same thing.

And it's not like drinking it is suddenly going to make him massive, lol.

Seriously though, for starters, it's probably best to just head over to Google and search for "proteins," then move on to carbs, and then fats.
Google actually knows its stuff.

Olivia Hernandez7 said:I hit the gym pretty regularly and my main goal is to pack on some muscle mass—specifically focusing on my biceps, triceps, and getting that six-pack, though I'm working on the rest too. I was wondering which protein would be best for me to take? I really don't want to mess with any supplements that are bad for my heart or anything like that; I just want something medically safe without any nasty side effects. For context, I weigh about 158 lbs.

Man, that's rough.

I mean, technically, you could just smear lard on a slice of white bread and call it a day...

Male, 24 years old

Growing up, I was super active—did karate for a while and played soccer through most of high school (honestly, pretty much everyone did back then, right?).
After that, I dabbled a little bit in some Dennis Survival Ju-Jitsu.

Nowadays, my routine is a mix of hitting the gym, rushing home to crush some kettlebell swings, jumping rope, and getting my runs in.
Blah blah blah...

Alright, I finally stumbled upon something interesting online! 😁
Flu symptoms in Health ·
Hey there! How's it going? Just dropping in to say hi!
So, here’s the deal—the doctor actually wrote down the diagnosis right there in the headline!

Ugh, seriously? Not again! 😩 I am currently dealing with those absolutely brutal recurrent aphthous ulcers—you know, those tiny little mouth sores that feel like someone is stabbing your gums with a hot needle every time you try to eat? Yeah, those. They are honestly the worst. It feels like my mouth is constantly under siege! Has anyone else gone through this lately? Any tips or life hacks to make them go away faster? I’m desperate over here! 😭🩹

Maybe she just typed it wrong, because honestly, I could only find... Hey everyone! So, I was doing a little deep dive into some medical stuff recently—don't judge me, I just get curious about how our bodies work!—and I stumbled upon something called *oris recurrentis*. Now, don't let the fancy Latin name scare you off; it sounds way more intimidating than it actually is. Basically, we’re talking about those annoying, recurring mouth sores or ulcers that just love to pop up right when you're having a good week. You know the drill: one day you're feeling great, and the next, it feels like you've got a tiny little volcano erupting on your gums or the inside of your cheek. It's super frustrating, right? It’s one of those things where you start wondering, "Wait, why me? What did I do wrong?" But honestly, it can happen to anyone. Sometimes it's just stress (guilty!), sometimes it's a minor injury from eating something crunchy, and other times it just seems to happen for no reason at all. If you're dealing with this, hang in there! It’s definitely a nuisance, but it usually clears up once your body gets back into its groove. Just a friendly reminder to stay hydrated and maybe take it a little easy on the spicy snacks if you feel one coming on! Stay healthy out there, friends!

I’ve been scouring the internet, digging through every corner of Google, and honestly? I'm coming up totally empty-handed. I can't find a single thing about this! It's like it just doesn't exist online. Total ghost town over here!
Honestly, it’s probably just because his mouth is a literal magnet for bacteria—those breakouts have gotta be linked to that!

So, here’s how it goes down...
So, I was feeling this sudden chill hit me out of nowhere on Wednesday afternoon—just total body shivers—so I decided to play it safe and check my temperature about an hour later.
It clocked in at 38.2!
I popped some Lupocet earlier just to try and kill this fever and finally get some sleep. But man, I got woken up by this brutal chill—even though I was bundled up in layers!
Man, I totally spaced out and drifted off to dreamland again! Oops!
Ugh, guys, I checked again this morning and yep—the fever is still hanging around. It hit 39.1! Seriously, I feel like I’m running a marathon while sitting perfectly still on my couch. Such a bummer!
So, I popped two Lupocet and about an hour later, I ended up sitting in a puddle of lukewarm water. Yeah, I actually did that. Just... total system failure. Honestly, what a disaster! 😂
Checked my temperature again around noon, and hey, good news! It finally dipped down to 100.0. Feeling a little bit more human today!
Man, it started acting up again after just a few hours, and I ended up making a total mess of myself in some lukewarm water. Seriously, what a disaster!
It looks like it dipped, but I’ve got a feeling it’s gonna climb right back up to 39.1 in the end! Fingers crossed!
Man, before I even made it out the door to head to the ER, I was totally losing it and throwing up. Seriously, what a mess!
So, here’s the deal—it feels like my mouth is throwing a full-blown tantrum! On the right edge of my lip, I’ve got this nasty little sore, and then there's this weird, inflamed gum area around one of my teeth. To make things even more chaotic, I’ve started getting these tiny little bumps on the inside of my lip, too. And as if that wasn't enough of a mess, my throat is feeling a bit scratchy and sore. Oh, and yep, I’ve even got those annoying little bumps popping up on the tip of my tongue. Just a total disaster zone over here!
So, I headed down to the ER because I was feeling absolutely trashed, and they told me it was definitely the flu. To help deal with the misery, they ended up giving me two doses of Voltaren via injection. Man, what a ride!
So, I just got back from the clinic, and honestly? Best news ever! My doctor gave me the thumbs up and said my throat is totally clear. No redness, no swelling, nothing! It’s such a massive relief because I was seriously starting to freak out a little bit. Now I can finally stop worrying and get back to feeling like myself again!

Man, I was feeling absolutely frozen earlier—just straight-up shivering and feeling like I couldn't get warm no matter what. Then, after about three hours, my temperature finally dipped below 96.8! It’s been a wild ride trying to shake this chill.
I just whipped up myself some rosehip tea (actually, I ended up just making chamomile instead, haha!).

Ugh, man, my fever decided to make another comeback today! It hit 38.8 in the morning, which honestly felt pretty rough. So, I ended up heading over to see my local doctor to get everything checked out.

She told me straight up that they shouldn't have given me Voltaren via injection. I mean, seriously? When you're sitting there with a fever bouncing between 100 and 102, an injection like that isn't going to do squat for you—it just leaves you feeling totally wiped out and dehydrated. It's like, what was the point? All it does is kick you while you're already down! 😕
And she also mentioned that those guys end up stuck in the infectious disease hospital!

Ugh, I’ve been chugging water like there’s no tomorrow, but honestly? I just don't have the energy to play right now. Total bummer!
She didn't actually say what it was; she just wrote it down like that!

So, she was telling me that I’ve got these little bumps popping up in my throat, right? But then the guy over at the ER looked at me and was like, "Nope, your throat looks totally clear." Honestly, I'm just sitting here wondering what's actually going on!

She told me that if I want these "pimple" things to finally disappear, I need to ditch everything cold or lukewarm—so I'm talking ice cream, lukewarm tea, lukewarm soup, the whole deal!
I really need to go grab some mouthwash—something like TCE or maybe Varclo. I honestly can't even make out what the doctor wrote because their handwriting is just absolute garbage! I’ll have to swing by the Walgreens later and see if I can figure it out there.

She mentioned that she takes some Tylenol or Lupocet if her fever climbs above 38.

Ugh, I just checked my temperature again and—surprise, surprise—it’s climbed right back up to 39.2. Total bummer! So, I just popped a Lupocet to see if I can get this fever under control. Fingers crossed!

Ugh, guys, I am feeling absolutely trashed right now! 😩 My throat is acting up just a little bit, and I’ve got this low-grade fever that won't quit. To make matters worse, I am sweating like crazy, but then the chills hit and I’m literally shaking because it’s freezing out. Oh, and to top off this whole miserable experience, I’ve even got those annoying little mouth sores popping up. Seriously, what is my body doing?! Send help (and maybe some soup)! 🤒❄️💦

Try eating some carbs during every single meal, just in small doses.
Even in your last meal if you’ve been super active throughout the day.

It's all about experimenting, really. If you're hitting the weights at least three times a week and tossing in maybe three cardio sessions, it's going to be pretty tough for you to actually put on weight.
I'm not exactly sure what your current routine looks like, but my advice is don't go overboard by cramming all your carbs into one sitting; instead, spread them out across your meals in smaller amounts.

Just make sure you aren't pairing them up with heavy fats, obviously.

Linda Martinez60 said:I honestly can't find anything about this online right now, but I'm super curious,
what's the big deal or the "rule" regarding eggs? Like, why am I supposed to toss the yolk and just eat, say, 1 yolk and 3 whites? I mean, I get it—I know the cholesterol and fat live in the yolk while the protein is in the white.

Not really.
A single egg weighs about 60 grams and packs around 8 grams of protein.
The white has roughly 4 grams of protein, while the yolk has a little over 3.

Linda Martinez60 said:But while I'm prepping them, I don't know, aren't calories important? One fried egg is maybe 70-80 kcal, so if I eat 3, I'm looking at maybe 250 kcal and boom, done!

I'll get maybe 12g of protein, some fat, and I just don't see why that one yolk would be so bad for me?

It feels such a waste to throw them out; I eat whole eggs all the time. But I keep getting this advice from everyone saying I absolutely have to stick to just the whites... it’s so confusing.
The only thing is the fat might be an issue if I'm trying to lose weight, but I still consume some fats anyway, so I figure... I don't want to cut my fat intake down to such a tiny minimum; I don't think that's healthy.

You just need to keep an eye on your fat intake throughout the day—look at how much your body can actually process per meal and how much you're planning to hit for the total day.

The thing is, junk food hits everyone differently—for some people, it absolutely wrecks their physique, while others can eat it and stay lean.
It's all about genetics.

So, this week I bumped my training up to four days a week plus three cardio sessions, and I was honestly tempted to indulge in some junk food, but I decided to stick to eating small amounts of carbs at every meal instead—even right before bed if I had a heavy lifting session that day.
Mostly, I've been sticking to whole wheat bread while at work paired with chicken or turkey deli meat; I usually end up snacking on at least a few slices of premium deli ham per meal when I'm having the turkey.

Even though it's hard for me to actually put on weight, I can definitely tell that junk food goes straight to my gut.

How to make vegan meals actually taste good.

Man, I used to struggle so much with vegan cheese—it was such a hassle. But I finally cracked the code on how to eat it so it’s actually delicious!

If you're looking for a high-protein snack,

Grab about 8-10 ounces of vegan cheese (make sure it isn't super sour; the Standard brand from Kroger is my go-to, and it's only $3.25 for a half-pound.
Mix in about a cup of water, some vanilla extract (3 drops is plenty for me), and maybe 2 or 3 crushed Natren packets.
Just whip everything together with an immersion blender, and boom—you've got this amazing ice cream/yogurt texture.
It tastes so good to me that I feel like I could eat a whole pound of it every single day!😁
Pair it with some almonds, hazelnuts, or peanuts—or just toss them all in a bowl and mix it all up for a crunchy vibe.
You could also throw in some peanut butter, but honestly, that's a little heavy on my stomach.

Now, if you want a full breakfast instead, take that same vegan cheese and vanilla combo, then add a handful of oats and half a banana.
Seriously, it's delicious.

It’s the perfect thing to grab for work!

So, here’s a super simple recipe that I bet almost everyone has whipped up before, but I figured I’d share my own little twist on it! 🙂

Onion Scrambled Eggs

What you'll need:
1. Eggs (as many as you want—I just tossed in 5, but honestly, I'm still starving 😁 )
2. An onion
3. Chili flakes, salt, and pepper
4. A splash of olive oil.

First, I grab some olive oil (just a tiny bit, enough to wipe down the pan with a paper towel) and let it get nice and hot.
Then, I throw in some finely chopped onions and let them sauté for a bit until they're fragrant. After that, I crack the eggs right on top and give everything a good scramble.
About a minute later, I sprinkle in some pepper, salt, and chili flakes, giving it an occasional stir as it cooks.
Sometimes, if I'm feeling fancy, I'll top it off with some bits of prosciutto 😈 or even some dried venison 🙂—I know, I know, maybe not the healthiest choice, but hey, we all have those days where we just eat whatever is in the fridge! 🙂

Basically, it's a delicious, easy meal. 🙂
