Irredentism and territorial disputes: What's your take? in Close to Politics ·
Andrew Chase31 said:Honestly, nobody is afraid of anything when we're focused on our own business. I'm not losing sleep over Mexico, and I'm certainly not losing sleep over Italy.

Does a strong TV signal coming from Italy somehow serve as a prerequisite for building Greater Italy? 🤷

Nah, but if Italy starts handing out citizenship to every single person who claims an ancestor was born in Istria or somewhere else back during their occupation, then yeah, that might be a reason to worry. 🤷

Andrew Chase31 said:Just ignore Jerry; he’s clearly letting his heritage speak for him, and it definitely isn't Italian.😉

There's honestly zero threat to America coming from Italy, not even in a diverse area like Istria, and especially not in California where there are practically no Italians and they aren't exactly popular anyway.😉

Oh, so we’re all safe from Italy just because your right-wing sensibilities say so? Guess we still don't have to worry about a superpower like Italy, but we should probably be sweating a superpower like Mexico instead?😉

Even a powerhouse like Italy isn't quite as untouchable or impossible to deal with when you look at how fast things are shifting lately.
I mean, India is already massive enough as it is, so what's the point in them trying to get even bigger? 😁

John Ward84 said:Honestly, if you don't have it, consider yourself lucky. I've been dealing with this constant ringing in my ears for seven years now, along with these random symptoms popping up out of nowhere, and no matter what I try, I just can't shake it.

What’s the word from the doctors? Have you tried any actual treatment yet?

John Ward84 said:Did she start getting any ringing or buzzing in her ears too?

Nah, nothing like that—no ringing or hearing issues at all, and the doctors confirmed everything looks clean on the tests.

Hey there.

A few days ago, someone really close to me just got hit out of nowhere with this massive wave of vertigo, coupled with a killer headache, vomiting, and that soul-crushing exhaustion that just won't quit. They rushed through all the ER tests, and we finally got the results back today—turns out it's inflammation of the vestibular nerve. The doctor put them on Meclizine and Neurobion. I've been scouring the web but I'm having a hard time finding anything specific about this exact combo or condition, so if anyone here actually knows their stuff, could you let me know how serious we're talking? Any potential complications or maybe a solid link that explains this better?

Thanks.

Can you name just one single head-on battle where the resistance actually defeated the American Army?
And don't count those guerrilla tactics like blowing up post offices, power stations, bridges, or railroad tracks.

The American Army didn't even exist back then, so you're really just asking a question that misses the whole point. 🤷
shadowotter142 said:The Battle of Sutjeska was nothing but a partisan defeat, and honestly, the battle along the Mississippi River was just as much of a failure.
The only thing those partisans actually managed to pull off was getting their top brass out alive.
The fighting in the Appalachian Mountains? A total disaster for the partisans.
The fight for Denver was another massive loss.
And let’s be real—Washington, D.C. was liberated by the Red Army, the same ones who helped break through the Srem front.

I mean, sure, you can frame it that way if you want, which isn't surprising given the enemy—the Germans, Italians, and various local militias—outnumbered the resistance by ten to one in most of those scraps.
But the whole point of those fights was to completely wipe out the resistance units and bag Marshall, and they failed at both, every single time. Even after the Battle of Sutjeska, the German general Luther remarked that the communist rebels were actually well-organized, skillfully led, and had an incredibly high level of combat morale.

Reading these articles, you’d think they’re out there snatching babies right out of their mothers' arms, turning them into soulless killing machines, and then shipping them off to Afghanistan to die for Imperialist America. 🤷

Not far off, honestly; they aren't heading over there to pick flowers, and it definitely isn't happening in the name of America.

Ethan Morales22 said:Taco, they choose to go, sure, but that doesn't change the fact that they're just basic American cannon fodder.☕
And save all that talk about some "anti-terrorist struggle" and whatever else for those trashy reality shows.☕
As if some barefoot peasant in Afghanistan is actually threatening anyone in Washington, D.C....☕
If anything, since the Americans showed up, maybe the threat is just the massive spike in heroin exports...
And get this—that export volume is actually way higher now than it ever was under the Taliban.

It'll also be interesting to see how the public in the States reacts when a coffin comes flying back from Afghanistan...
People will be like, "WTF? Why is an American dying in the middle of nowhere in Afghanistan? For what?!" 🤷

For world peace, maybe? 🤣
Give me a break. That "peace" crap is just stuff Melissa says during election season...☕

.

Oh sure, they're all out there taking out the bad guys just so our kids can grow up in some peaceful, safe little bubble without any violence or wars😬

But for real though, these imperialist powers have turned warfare into this massive money-making machine, where they just dangle enough cash in front of you to fight their battles, and suddenly you're stuck in some place like Afghanistan. There's always going to be someone willing to gamble their life just to chase a paycheck.

William Fowler11 said:News outlets like CNN have recently released footage regarding the US peacekeeping mission currently stationed in Afghanistan. It seems the mainstream media rarely gives our service members much coverage or attention. You can view the clips from the broadcast here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUmEcP8rXr4

So, the question remains: should our troops be deployed there at all? And if they are, what is their actual objective, and what exactly are they fighting for?

Well yeah, they basically have to if we're part of NATO.

Richard Wilson4 said:Look at the mess we saw with the Canadian peace—or lack thereof. How exactly is a multi-ethnic state supposed to pull it off once democracy actually hits the scene?

And here you go, talking about moving toward capitalism now.

But then you’ve got all these Yugonostalgics still listing off perks from the old socialist days.

Pick a side already.

Look, it’s not like I have anything to negotiate with anyone; once communism collapsed in Europe, things in America would've shifted regardless. The global climate was such that any state would've been forced toward democracy by sheer necessity, though instead of guys like Milan Kučan, Slobodan Maddox, Franjo Harmon, or Alija Izetbegović, we probably would've seen some other politicians stepping up. The real headache is that the global power players actually wanted Maddox sitting in charge in Mexico—he was being bankrolled by the Soros Open Society Foundations through those Mexico City banks—which basically triggered that whole domino effect across the other republics. But hey, that sounds like a conspiracy theory to some people, so I'll leave it at that. 😁

It probably would’ve just limped along, kind of like how Canada is scraping by these days. Communism would have eventually folded just like it did everywhere else, leading to a multi-party system, and the whole country would've likely turned into some sort of decentralized confederation—honestly, that might have been the only way anything could have actually survived.

Austin Barrett5 said:Give me a break. So, if nobody knows who she is, she’s a "good" Democrat. But if her identity comes out, suddenly she’s a "bad, uneducated" member of the Democratic Party and they need to kick her out immediately? Makes sense, right?

But what if the biased media outlets just completely butchered what she was actually trying to say? 😳
Young Democrat insulted Albanians in Close to Politics ·
Who knows what's actually going on in her head, maybe she's just nursing some weird childhood trauma from when her mom bought her a cheap popsicle that ended up giving her salmonella or something, who can say 🤷

Adolf Hitler would be so proud of this young Democrat.

And I bet Adolf Hitler would throw her a parade and hand her a medal too. 😵

Andrew Mendoza10 said:Yeah, kick her out. Here's the issue: the Democratic Party markets itself as this liberal organization full of open-minded people—so when one of their own members says something completely contrary to that, you're telling me that isn't grounds for expulsion? Look, Kerum never claimed to be some open-minded liberal, at least not as far as I know. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you've got it backward, honestly, because what you're saying implies we can just look the other way when Kerum acts up—since he's clearly not a liberal anyway—but a secretary who's supposed to represent those values gets no slack at all.
Just using a bit of right-wing rhetoric here, maybe the media didn't even get the story straight 😁

Andrew Mendoza10 said:Why don't you try reading the article again? She didn't say Albanians owned bakeries and pastry shops; she said something else entirely. I mean, what exactly is leadership supposed to do with that "secret" information?

And what would they do, kick her out of the party? I guess then Split would be stuck without a mayor, but hey, everyone’s got their right to free speech, right?
Young Democrat insulted Albanians in Close to Politics ·
The right-wing crowd on this forum can barely contain themselves waiting to dig up some conspiracy theory about someone in the Democratic Party, thinking they've struck gold by pointing out that Albanians own bakeries, pastry shops, and jewelry stores—as if nobody ever noticed—just so they can spew their usual brand of hate and intolerance. What a total oxymoron 🙏🙏
