Driver installation: Which one should I pick? in IT Support ·
Larry Ortiz5 said:...

Thanks for the tips. No more yellow exclamation marks popping up, and everything seems to be running fine. My wireless connection is actually working, though I’m hitting a snag with the Atheros hardware—every few minutes the speed just tanks to basically nothing, making web pages take forever to load. Diagnosis: ("Problem with wireless adapter or Wireless Access Point").

But since Broadcom's wireless driver won't even let me run the installer (I keep getting this error: "update.cpp 1185 has occured and setup cannot continue"), I'm thinking the issue might actually be with my router rather than the drivers themselves, right?
Driver installation: Which one should I pick? in IT Support ·
Which drivers should I actually install from this list? It's my first time doing this and I'm a bit lost.
1. Is everything I need on this list? Should I just go ahead and install every single category here?
2. If there are multiple options for one thing, which brand should I pick? (like for Bluetooth, VGA, wireless, or the touchpad)
3. Does the order I install them in actually matter?
4. If I download stuff from different sites, am I going to end up installing the same driver twice? (for example, does the Catalyst driver already include the VGA driver or something?)

I've got an Intel processor, a dedicated Radeon card, Windows 7, 64-bit, Bluetooth, USB 3.0, HDMI, and VGA.

I found drivers in three different spots:
- On the processor manufacturer's site
- On the graphics card manufacturer's site
- On the laptop manufacturer's site

When I plug in my info on those sites, these are the ones that show up:
Intel
* Intel ® Graphics Drivers for Intel ® Core ™, Pentium ® and Celeron ® Processors

AMD
* Catalyst notebook Display driver Acer

Acer:
* Audio_Realtek_6.0.1.6865_W7x64_A
* Bluetooth_Atheros_8.0.1.305_W7x64_A
* Bluetooth_Broadcom_6.5.1.4500_W7x64_A
* CardReader_Broadcom_1.0.0.250_W7x64_A
* Chipset_Intel_9.4.0.1017_W7x64_A
* Lan_Broadcom_15.6.0.6_W7x64_A
* MgmtEngine_Intel_9.5.2.1489_W7x64_A
* Touchpad_ELANTECH_11.6.23.203_W7x64_A
* Touchpad_Synaptics_16.3.12.37_W7x64_A
* USB 3.0_Intel_2.5.0.19_W7x64_A
* VGA_AMD_12.100.14.3000_W7x64_A
* VGA_Intel_10.18.10.3355_W7x64_A
* wireless LAN_Atheros_10.0.0.263_W7x64_A
* wireless LAN_Broadcom_6.30.223.75_W7x64_A

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Just a couple of questions...
What’s the general vibe from the Hell Angels regarding Tudor? Is he actually doing a good job, or is he a negative influence?
And what specifically are people throwing at the Board of Directors right now?

By the way, I put together a little blog post about Hajduk. I’m still going to add a few more things to it, but I wanted to get it out there. 🙂

Bruce Springsteen live

Man, if I could just hear Bruce Springsteen perform "Born to Run," "Thunder Road," "Dancing in the Dark," "Glory Days," "Rosalita," "The River," "Born in the U.S.A.," "Brilliant Disguise," or "Darkness on the Edge of Town"... I’d give anything. Just one night.

Then again, I'd kill for The Doors too. Imagine hearing "Five to One," "Break on Through," "Light My Fire," "Riders on the Storm," "Hello, I Love You," "When the Music is Over," "Waiting for the Sun," or "Roadhouse Blues" live... plus seeing all those hippie crazies in the crowd.

Balance of Trade in Economy ·
hollowpilot13 said:Starting this thread—hopefully there isn't anything like it already—so we can dump everything we know about the Balance of Trade in America. I just stumbled upon some data showing that fruit imports versus exports is one of the absolute worst spots in the American Balance, where the ratio is basically 1:10. That means—get this—for every single kg of fruit we export, America is importing 10 kg. ☕ Apparently, our biggest imports are bananas and oranges. Check out this article I found:

I’m opening this up because I want the other, much smarter members of this forum to drop stats and data on the American Balance. I actually think this could be useful for anyone trying to strike out as an entrepreneur... why? Because you make the most money where the country is weakest. In this specific case, if someone's looking to get into agriculture, they should probably start planting orange groves immediately (assuming we can't do bananas since the climate won't allow it). ☕

Can anyone dig up some numbers on other "sectors"?

I'm pretty sure the numbers you're looking for can be verified through the Bureau of Statistics, the Chamber of Commerce, or customs.gov.

Anyway, this is a great idea. Years ago, I heard this American entrepreneur say that "if you want to manufacture something, check customs to see what we're importing most. See if we can produce it cheaper than buying it from overseas—maybe by cutting out those massive shipping costs—and then just go build it."
Robin Hernandez4 said:If you actually want to learn how this stuff works, head over to the economics subforum where some of the sharper folks can point you toward the real deal. Don't just come in here dumping your total nonsense about some global conspiracy involving Masons or the Illuminati.

So, what? Masons and the Illuminati just don't exist?
Are all those books, the lists of names, the symbols, the footage, and the theories just one big scam? 😁

Explain to me why, when you add up and subtract every single surplus and deficit from every nation on Earth, the final balance is still a massive deficit, and then I'll call it even. 🙂
Scott Reed9 said:Hey everyone, hoping someone here can weigh in on this. I haven't seen any threads tackling this specific angle yet, so if it's already been covered, feel free to nuked this post.

We've all watched the recent credit rating downgrades hitting various USA nations, but I'm not even looking at the downgrades themselves or what they trigger. What's actually eating at me is the fact that just two or three agencies—Standard & Poor's, Moody's, and Fitch—basically hold a monopoly on sovereign credit ratings. It’s wild to me that such a tiny group of people can wield this much power over the entire world and basically decide the fate of millions.

I want to know how this whole system actually works, whether it even needs to exist in its current form, and who really stands to gain from it.

VIDEO: A QUICK EXPLANATION OF THE THEORY - The CDO Scams

Credit rating agencies are easily some of the most powerful geopolitical and economic institutions on the planet.

They employ specialists who scrape together every scrap of data they can find on banks, corporations, and entire countries to weigh in on their financial outlook.
Essentially, they signal whether a nation is heading toward what we call "bankruptcy." In reality, a country doesn't go bankrupt like a business does; it just means you aren't getting your money back when you invest in them.
A more detailed breakdown for beginners—this should make things a lot clearer:

Bottom line: they have massive influence over governments and everyday lives.
To a Non-American, a few things seem totally off:
- Why don't they downgrade the USA from that top-tier AAA rating, which they technically should based on the criteria? Instead, it feels like they just bumped up the debt ceiling limit and acted like nothing happened.
- It makes you suspicious that the two biggest players are both based right here in the USA. Now, a German minister is pushing to establish an agency outside the US that would supposedly have better access to info and provide "more accurate" opinions.

My take? This is going to cause massive headaches. If it hasn't started yet, a new cold war is coming. The European Union will launch its own agency, the USA has its guys, and China has theirs. As the crisis deepens—(and in my opinion, this crisis isn't over and won't be for a long time, despite the illusion that things have stabilized. The numbers stay ugly; we're just delaying the collapse of the Western system)—politics will start leaning harder on these agencies. Their results will diverge, and eventually, the whole thing might just become meaningless.
And then we all head straight to...

Whoever navigates the chaos best is the one who survives. I think Europeans are in the worst position of the bunch. But anyway...🙂

I'm predicting that in about 5 to 10 years, we'll see the first "fun" geopolitical phase, and in 15 to 25 years, things will turn into a full-blown circus unless something sustainable is invented.

That’s why it’s under "random."

The moderators don't actually have any real mandate here. They just hang onto their positions until they finally snap, or in a few rare cases, until they get demoted back to being regular users. When we actually need new mods, they just pick them internally whenever the need arises.

Statistics. Or rather, the lack thereof. Honestly, I’ve been staring at these numbers all morning and my brain is starting to feel like mush. It’s one thing to look at a spreadsheet, but it’s another thing entirely when you realize how much of what we "know" is just guesswork disguised as data. I was reading this piece on HuffPost earlier about how people misinterpret polling data, and it hit home. We see these headlines every day—"X percent of Americans believe Y"—but nobody ever asks about the margin of error or how the sample was actually pulled. It’s all just noise. It reminds me of this time back in Chicago when I was trying to track my own spending. I thought I had everything categorized perfectly, feeling all smug about my budgeting skills, only to realize I hadn't accounted for the random little subscriptions that bleed you dry. You think you have the full picture, but you're always missing a piece. Anyway, I don't know. Is anyone else feeling skeptical about the data being thrown around lately? Or am I just overthinking it? Just feels like we're drowning in numbers without any actual substance.: I don't have any info on that. I'm just sitting here waiting for something actually worth talking about.

The topic at hand: Questions about how Reddit actually works and stays online.
I don't even know where to start with this one. It’s just one of those things that gets under my skin if I think about it too long. Just sitting here, staring at the screen, thinking about how everything seems to be shifting lately. It feels like we’re constantly being told one thing, only to have the rug pulled out from under us five minutes later. Anyway, I was reading some stuff on Reddit earlier—you know how it is, endless scrolling through nonsense—and it got me thinking about how much noise there is out there. People shouting, everyone having an opinion on everything, even when they clearly have no clue what they're talking about. It's exhausting. I remember back in high school, things felt simpler. No constant digital chatter, just living. Now? You can't escape it. Even when you're trying to relax, there's some new controversy or some random person online acting like they own the truth. It's like that one time I tried to fix my own sink. Thought I knew what I was doing, watched a couple of videos, felt confident. Ten minutes in, I've got water spraying everywhere and I'm standing there soaked, realizing I had no idea what I was actually doing. That's basically life right now. We're all just standing there getting soaked, pretending we planned it this way. Does anyone else feel like we're just spinning our wheels? Or am I just overthinking the whole thing again? Probably. I tend to do that. But seriously, the sheer amount of misinformation flying around is wild. It's hard to tell what's real anymore. Some guy went out of his way to help a staffer over at HuffPost.

What’s the deal with Reddit anyway? I’m guessing things were way easier back in the day because they probably didn't have massive overhead—I mean, the users are basically the ones building the whole site themselves.
Until recently, Reddit wasn't making a dime...
But weren't the overhead costs pretty low?
Not really. Server costs are a beast when you're running a site with this much traffic.
So, what finally convinced advertisers to start showing up on Reddit?
Ever since the latest Nielsen rankings for US web traffic dropped—where Reddit is currently sitting at number three—advertisers just couldn't afford to look the other way anymore.

I’m looking for the inside scoop on Reddit.

Here’s what I’m digging for:
- Who actually owns the place? Any co-owners or partners involved?
- How does the money work? What’s the revenue model and roughly how much are we talking about?
- Is there an actual payroll, or is it just a bunch of volunteers?
- What does it take to land a moderator gig? What are the requirements?
- Traffic stats and user engagement numbers.
- Anything else weird or interesting that people usually miss...

As noted by the admin on his website, Stojan Nenadović passed away on May 21, 2011. http://noncredit-money.org/?lang=sr

Did the late Mr. Nenadović ever write a book or anything?

I saw back in early June that he had passed... :/ I tried reaching out to some people from his Facebook profile, but they told me he didn't really have a huge "following" here in the States, mostly because everyone moved over to some American economic forums where they constantly delete comments anyway.

It's a shame things are such a mess. Especially since Mr. S. N. passed. I was a little too late to the party....

Maria Thomas48, the issue with Kulić, Nenadović, and the rest is that they just can't fight against the propaganda of today's "system." I'm hoping at least Pernar shows up in Congress and actually makes some progressive moves. In the meantime, I hope Mr. Kulić and his eight-person team realize they need to explain things a bit more clearly to regular folks, come up with a real tactic, and actually start doing something concrete.

Anyway, a network of people is slowly forming—people who could eventually provide marketing, IT, legal, and other technical support to help guys like them turn their big ideas into reality.

I hope you'll find the courage to join in, maybe even under an anonymous profile on Facebook, and help build that kind of support system.

People seem to forget that Powerlock banned at least 15 members in that thread. Most of them were just people against the Pride Parade or against treating Gay expression as being equal to Heterosexuality. Honestly, it didn't look like the moderator put much effort into actually getting anyone to have a decent debate. They just cleared the room. It was easier to just get rid of them than to let people actually speak their minds.

Still, my rating for the management. 7/10, which is pretty solid.
