A couple of days ago, she went over to her dad's place—you know, the one where he actually tries to set some boundaries and told her she couldn't go out. Well, being the rebel she is, she ended up climbing out of his ground-floor window in the middle of the night. I heard from a few friends that there was a full-on party going on all night long! Her dad eventually realized what was happening and actually nailed the window shut just so she couldn't sneak out again. So, what does she do? She slips out through the terrace instead, leaving the whole house wide open. And since they live right off a busy street, with a tiny baby in the house? It could have been anyone walking right in—it was incredibly risky. He gave her a massive earful afterward, but even that didn't seem to stick; if anything, she just came storming back to my place to make a point. I live on the second floor of my apartment building, so I figured escaping would be a bit more difficult from here—but clearly, I was wrong! If I tell her she can't go out, she just vanishes. I’ll lock the door, and what happens? She calls the neighbor who has a spare key and begs them to let her out. I’ve cut off the Wi-Fi, stopped giving her cash—I've tried it all. Nothing works. She simply does whatever she wants, and all I can do is pray she actually comes home safe, sane, and sober.
🤣
Why do parents lose their minds like this... Jesus Christ. I'm going through it big time right now too. My main issue is that I can't go out. I live in the middle of nowhere, but I go to the city for school. If I want to hit a club, it's a trek. A cafe? Way too far. Even the grocery store is a massive trip... the whole situation is driving me insane. I'm constantly in a bad mood. Every time Friday rolls around, I just feel this heavy, stupid fog settling in. My parents can't wrap their heads around how I went from being this sweet, easygoing kid to a total "little terror," as they call me. Constant questions about everything—how, why, what... Last year we went to the beach for vacation and I was literally praying to God for those ten days to just be over already. We were at the coast, which I used to LOVE, but I was stuck in this weird funk and feeling so depressed. I just wanted to hang with my friends. I nagged them until they finally snapped and gave in 🤣 and dropped me off at two friends' houses, and honestly, that was my actual vacation. Then, a week later, I called my mom crying because I thought someone had died... turns out, she was just being extra because I hadn't called her. Like, seriously? Ugh... I tried explaining that I'm not a little kid anymore and I can function without them, but she just started sobbing even harder, so I just hung up... I couldn't deal with it, honestly. Playing therapist and soul-searcher isn't my job... and I think I'm gonna do the same thing this year. I am so ready for summer just so I can escape them and this house...☕
Andrew Mendoza10 said:It’s because they lack any semblance of common sense—you can't blame some guy for that. Honestly, they don't seem to care one bit. Then, when they actually run into a decent guy, he isn't "exciting" enough because he isn't a bad boy. So, they go looking for the bad boy who will slowly bruise them just to show who's boss in the relationship. They crave it—and really, who are we to judge?
We actually had a survey like this at my high school recently, and over half the girls said there's NO way they'd date an asshole. It feels like we're all moving away from those types, and whenever we actually cross paths with a "bad boy," we just laugh or tell him exactly where to shove it. I don't know, maybe it's just my school, or maybe things are actually changing... it's worth talking about.🤷 ☕
I swear I’m cursing every single day. Usually, it’s just some standard "get outta here" or whatever, but lately, things have been hitting a breaking point and I actually caught myself yelling "God Jesus!" out loud. 😲 😢 Honestly, though, venting is fine. I agree that holding onto all that rage is a dead end—it just eats you alive if you don't let it out.🤷

But then there’s my aunt, who takes it as a personal insult if you don't polish off every single morsel of whatever she’s cooked. I’m sitting there struggling to even chew, and she’s already piling another steak onto my plate... 🙄 And of course, she gets offended because I didn't finish it all. Honestly, I just don't get the logic behind it... 🤷
Man, they do the exact same thing to me. Like, if you see I’m about to pop, which idiot is gonna keep stuffing me? Seriously... they're just trying to fatten us up so we never leave the house and end up looking like old ladies way before our time. 😳
Just imagine this: you’re trying to eat, and they're hovering over you for every single bite, whispering, "soooo good, more, more, sooo good"... ugh! 😠 I actually lost my mind on my aunt once because she does this constantly... and then she calls me "son" like I'm some dude!!!! seriously, fackkkk off!!!! 😠😠
Is she seeing me as some kind of three-drawer dresser or what??? 🙂
Ugh, tell me about it. I’ve been feeling the exact same way for ages... honestly, the way she constantly tries to push her little opinions on everyone just gets under my skin. It’s so grating! 🤦 She’s basically a carbon copy of her aunt, who—let’s be real—is a billion times more exhausting than she is.
John Stewart11 said:It honestly gets under my skin whenever someone tries to patronize me with comments like, "You shouldn't worry about this; just look at how much worse things are for someone else." It’s as if they’re implying I should somehow feel grateful for my own struggles because they aren't quite as catastrophic as someone else's misfortune. Instead of feeling better, I just end up feeling even more pathetic, dwelling on the hardships others are enduring, and I truly can't wrap my head around how anyone could find comfort in that kind of comparison.
To be real with you, I feel the exact same way. What, am I supposed to act like my life is perfect just because some other person is dealing with a hundred times more chaos? If someone actually said that to me, I wouldn't just lose my cool—I’d basically launch them out of a cannon. ☕
Dennis Bailey2 said:Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of posts from various users—mostly centered around animal cruelty, though the sentiment bleeds into Politics and Law discussions too—and it’s prompted me to put this thought together...
Take these common arguments, for instance (paraphrased, not direct quotes): - Why is everyone losing their minds over one cat when people are out there murdering and maiming each other without a second thought? - It’s wrong to hate a dog, sure, but hating people is perfectly fine? - You’re complaining about your paycheck, but have you seen how much people struggle in Chicago? - You claim things are bad here, but look at how much better life is in Texas. - Marijuana is illegal, yet alcohol—which is clearly more destructive—is totally legal!
We see this same logic popping up in everyday life all the time: - Why am I getting a ticket when that guy was flying down the highway twice the speed limit!? - I got a citation for parking here, but why didn't they pull over the guy right next to me?!
And so on.
What’s your take? Where does this impulse come from—this need to use one injustice to justify another, effectively allowing both wrongs to exist?
Were you actually talking about my new thread when you said that? 😁
wirednomad42 said:And where am I supposed to shove all my 😕 which just popped up in the void between my ears thanks to your post and won't go away?
Sorry, but I think I missed the point 🤷 — were you actually trying to say something about the topic, honey, or do you just have some weird obsession with Rolls-Royces?
Gosh, sorry if I offended you, but I was just trying to say I don't really buy into your idea that two-year-olds are "absolutely precious little things"😉
wirednomad42 said:Samuel Miller21, I’m not trying to build some little being that worships me—I want to raise someone who actually loves themselves. Of course I want us to be close, but I don't want them clinging to my every move. I love them, but God, I also need plenty of time just for myself 😁
Those little things you mentioned... that’s actually why I started this thread. For instance, if you look on Goodreads, you see so many moms venting about how often they end up yelling at their kids. And then there's the whole shift in schools where hitting is banned—even though, let's be honest, it used to be standard practice. It makes me wonder how all these different parenting styles and societal shifts actually play out once these kids grow up.
Take toddlers, for example 😍 (there’s an entire discussion about them over on Goodreads 😍)—they’re these incredible little creatures caught right on the edge between being helpless infants and actual, real children. One minute they’re melting your heart with how sweet and obedient they are, and the next they turn into 😈—you say the word "cookie" and suddenly they’re sprinting into the street, lunging into the ocean, or throwing a total meltdown because you’re trying to buckle them into a car seat when you’re already late for work. ☕
Sometimes, even when you're trying your absolute hardest, they just won't stop screaming—nothing works, no matter what trick you try. And is it even right to bribe them? (Like—stop crying, let's go to the park, or I'll buy you ice cream?) You can't exactly leave a kid lying in the middle of the road screaming while a car is coming toward them. Obviously. So what *can* you do? Pick them up and wait for the storm to pass? Pretend nothing happened once they settle down? What is the CONCRETE move here? Those "little things" are exactly what I'm curious about. Props to whoever added tips&tricks to the title 👍
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 🙄🙄🙄 Sorry, but all those Rolexes had to stop somewhere at some point.
Melissa Nguyen said:Hey... I'm 14, and I know this probably sounds like some typical teenage drama, but honestly, it feels horrific and I’m totally lost on what to do. Adults always brush this stuff off as nonsense, but when you're 14 and everyone around you has basically turned against you, it sucks—it really does. I'm about to start 8th grade, and during our school trip, one of my "friends" started flirting with this guy she knew I'd had a crush on for ages. I actually talked to her about it—we were honest with each other and thought we'd cleared the air—but then the rest of the girls in my class just went absolutely feral. They started screaming at me, calling me rude and stuck-up, saying they didn't want anything to do with me anymore. It got so bad that they actually burst into my room during the trip and started yelling threats... telling me they'd literally break my neck. I went to my teacher to report it, and we had this big group sit-down, but it was useless—some said they'd make up, while others flat-out refused to even look at me. I feel terrible because of everything they said, and the worst part is that it was the "popular" cliques leading the charge—they've basically turned the entire grade against me, even kids who weren't even involved in the fight. Now, I don't have a single friend left in that class, which is just devastating. My parents are amazing and support me, but that doesn't make it any easier when I walk into school and have to watch people gossip about me right to my face or roll their eyes every time I open my mouth. I know I should be grateful for my parents, my straight A's, and being healthy, but I still feel so pathetic knowing that nobody in my grade wants me around or respects me. And get this—I was literally tutoring those same people in Chemistry and Math just so they wouldn't fail the grade! Please, if anyone has even a shred of comfort or advice, let me know... I'm feeling so depressed that I genuinely dread going back to school this fall.
If people start making threats like that, you gotta defend yourself.☕ Just some totally entitled, spoiled brats.
urbandrifter8 said:Hey. I've been debating whether to even post this, but I want to see what you guys think. Just a heads up—if you give me those useless answers like "go see a doctor" or "we aren't doctors," don't bother. They're counterproductive. He’s already seen professionals, and honestly, most of them don't even try to find an actual diagnosis before they just start dumping Risperdal, Zyprexa, or Serdolect on someone... Anyway, my boyfriend is struggling. He constantly thinks everyone hates him, he's depressed, suicidal, and believes that by 2012 aliens will invade Earth and that he's some kind of organic portal. He reads too much conspiracy crap and starts believing it's all real. He's incredibly emotional and sensitive. He's an acting major, and even though he's insanely talented, he's convinced he's nothing, that he has no talent, and that everyone at school despises him. He actually failed his classes this year. When I try to give him any kind of critique, he can't handle it—he starts burning cigarettes on his hands and threatening suicide. In a way, he's just a total drama queen and a spoiled brat who needs everything his way; if he doesn't get it, he completely breaks down. But there's also a deeper issue. He can't control himself, and he's using drugs—specifically sniffing heptane almost every day because he thinks tripping will help him finally understand everything and be happy. It's hard to explain how complicated this is. He spent a month in a psych ward, where they gave him antipsychotics and SSRIs for depression, but nobody actually talks to him or tries to reach him. His love for me is borderline obsessive, to the point where I can't be with him anymore. Not only is it exhausting dealing with all this shit, but I don't want to be the reason he potentially kills himself. Anyway, I hope that gives enough of an idea. Please, I need advice. Maybe someone has an idea of what's going on with him, besides the fact that he's young, immature, and needs time to grow up. Is it possible there's a bigger problem here than I realize?
😂 Man, if anything's actually made me laugh today, it's this...🤣 Seriously though, who even buys into this nonsense? Honestly, I think the guy needs help more than we realize.☕
Honestly, I don't feel any pity at all. I’m actually starting to wonder if there's something wrong with me, so I'm pretty glad this topic even exists. Pity? I've just never felt that way. Not for anyone, really. And I definitely don't want anyone feeling worthless or "less than" because of me. Period.☕
