Smoking habits among Americans in Health ·
I don't smoke, and I never have.
I really don't mind people who smoke. It only bothers me when someone is inconsiderate enough to blow smoke directly into my face. And, unfortunately, my eyes start stinging and watering whenever I'm in a heavy smoke environment. There’s nothing I can do about that. It feels like I'm just a sponge for smoke. 😁 Even just a few minutes in a smoking area is enough to make my hair and clothes soak up all that scent... 🙄 😁

My partner is a smoker, but he doesn't bother me at all. If anything, I wish he’d cut back just for his own health. He is incredibly thoughtful when we're out together, though. I never, ever feel the smoke from his cigarette because he always holds it away from me, maybe behind the back of a chair or something similar. 🙂 I’ve never even had to ask him; he’s just always been mindful of it on his own. 🙂
Plus, I never smell it on him. It truly never bothers me, and I don't even notice any scent when we kiss after he's been smoking. 🙂

My mom smoked for about 35 to 40 years... then she just suddenly stopped. There wasn't some major medical reason; it just happened. She still carries a pack of cigarettes and a lighter in her purse because she thinks she might want to pick it up again someday 😁, but she hasn't lit one once. This month marks exactly five years since she quit. 🙂 My sweet mom... 🙂

A close friend of mine was also a smoker and simply decided she was done. It wasn't hard for her at all. She might have a cigarette here or there a few times a year, but she doesn't need it anymore. For my mom, it was actually quite a struggle.

I personally think that if you want to quit, you have to go cold turkey. I haven't heard of anyone who tried to taper off and actually stayed quit forever. I do know a few "quick quitters," but I suppose that isn't a universal rule.

Good luck with your journey to quitting!
The most undeserving Oscar winner! in Movies ·
I honestly feel you’re getting a bit carried away with this whole "most undeserving" list and those Academy Awards. 😉
Is this even the right thread? Is it the twentieth one already? 😁
Oh, I didn't realize there were more replies here. Thanks! 🙂

Right now, things are just staying as they are. Once the doctor finishes the checkup, we'll finally have a decision on what comes next.
If I stumble upon anything new or helpful, I'll be sure to swing back by and let you all know... 🙂
Thanks for getting back to me.
I heard there’s an option at the Holy Spirit hospital, but it’s just too much of a trek for someone dealing with bone issues like I am. I figured I’d check if there was anything closer... maybe something more "downtown."

Unfortunately, the treatment at Mihanović wasn't much help. (It helped a tiny bit, but barely...)
Could anyone point me toward which hospitals in the Washington, D.C. area (maybe the Mayo Clinic?) offer group or one-on-one exercise programs specifically designed for people dealing with osteoporosis?

Thanks so much.
Munch said:To me, they feel like acts meant for those dim, divey clubs that aren't even big enough to host a show at the Fillmore. It just creates this karaoke night vibe where nobody takes the music seriously anymore...

I completely agree with both of these points.

"Intelligent humor," my ass... 😁
I agree it isn't your typical American style of comedy, but it’s definitely not some raw, edgy wit or high-brow intelligence either...
The movie has its bright spots, but honestly, anyone could see this was just an over-commercialized product trying too hard to be "Bad"...

It honestly drove me crazy that the idiot forgot he was supposed to grab the purple one, not the pink rabbit 😁

And ugh, gross... those tacky nylon stockings Grandma used to wear that they’d pull off over the fireplace 🤣

I also got a kick out of watching the kid realize he could actually trip himself up 😁

It wasn't exactly a hysterical laughing fit, but I still had a great time 🙂

How did you know? One of those two friends I mentioned actually went there... she’s happy with the results, but my scar looks absolutely terrible...

How did I know? Because I'm just echoing your own experience and perspective. 😁 😠

So, based on everything I’ve seen and heard from all of you, my best advice is to stay far away from that old VA hospital over in Washington, D.C. if you're thinking about getting any mole removals done... 😁

Christian Alvarez said:sometimes you just have to cut a mole out...

Yeah, I think you're right there. A mole often isn't just skin deep; it can have a pretty deep root system. To get the whole thing out, you usually need a larger incision. My understanding is that doctors opt for surgical removal whenever they notice any changes—like if it starts swelling or shifts color...

Alright, I can see the image now, thanks! Now, could we get a bit more detail on... what exactly? The new movie, maybe? Or perhaps some insight into the reviews...

Exactly. 😉

Oh man, what an absolute disaster of a movie. I've always thought it was 😁
between the French dialogue, that weird "listen here" vibe, and all those people shouting... just constant yelling 😁
Honestly, it was hilarious. We were absolutely dying laughing... 😁
And wait, wasn't that little lead actress—you know, the one who became a massive superstar (shoot, her name is right on the tip of my tongue, I just can't place it)—wasn't she wearing a leather biker jacket? Yeah, wasn't she? 😁

Thanks! I did a little digging myself and actually managed to track down his name...

Stick to unsweetened tea so you don't get dehydrated...
On the first day, just stick to that and maybe some dry toast.
By the second day, you could try some light broth...
See how you feel, though. You might be ready for some crackers right away, or you can save those for the third day.
I wouldn't even suggest dark chocolate until the third day at the earliest...
Once things start returning to normal, just make sure you don't jump straight into heavy meals too fast.

It’s entirely possible to reach that state—essentially getting into a trance—without any formal hypnosis at all. I’ve actually tried it myself. It’s often much easier to guide someone else into a trance than it is to just let go and surrender to the state yourself. 😁

Anyway, Jamie Clark74, that link you shared lists some names, but they seem to be general practitioners and dentists. Do you happen to know any psychiatrists here in the States who specialize in this field? 🙂

I’m actually quite curious about this too! 🙂 Specifically, I was thinking about phobias; I've been noting down a few examples I've come across, but I haven't been able to suggest where someone in Washington, D.C. might turn for help regarding that... and whether it's even possible
