Nicholas Nguyen said:Windows just pulled down 118 MB via 13 different updates today. After I rebooted, the screen shows Windows 7 Build 7601 - Windows not Genuine. This isn't the first time either; it happened two or three times before, and I fixed it by stripping out a specific update. Does anyone know which one of these recent updates is the culprit? Which KBxxxxxxx should I target?>
Skip the lecture about my OS not being legitimate. I’m fully aware. I’ve already explained the situation elsewhere: I bought a laptop with a licensed version of win7 pre-installed. A few years later, the hard drive died. I swapped in a new drive and installed a non-genuine version because I never received an original installation disc with the purchase.
Here is the list of installed updates: KB3175024 KB890830 KB3115459 KB3118300 KB3185319 KB3115462 KB3118303 KB3182373 KB3114744 KB3185911 KB3177186 KB3172605 KB3184122
I know the solution involves running a system restore and removing one of these KBs from the update list. Rather than playing technician and installing/uninstalling them one by one until I stumble upon the right one, can anyone point me to the offender?
In case anyone is wondering, KB3185911 is the one causing the trouble.
Windows pulled down 118 MB across 13 updates today. After a reboot, I'm staring at a Windows 7 Build 7601 - Windows not Genuine message. This isn't the first time; it's happened two or three times before, and I usually fix it by stripping out a specific update. Does anyone know which of these updates is the latest culprit? Which one (KBxxxxxxx)
Save the lectures about my OS being fake. I'm well aware. I've already explained the situation on this forum: I bought a laptop with a legitimate version of Windows 7 pre-installed. A few years later, the hard drive died. I swapped in a new drive and installed a non-genuine version because I never received an original installation disc with the purchase.

I know the move is to run a System Protection restore and pull one of these KBs from the update list. I’d rather not play technician, installing and uninstalling them one by one until I hit the right one. Does anyone know which one is the problem?
It isn't just a theater issue; it’s happening on television too, whether you're watching cable or one of the three major networks here in the States. I distinctly remember a disastrously bad translation—or rather, a total lack of subtitles—for a movie that aired on FOX about a month and a half ago.
Every single line of dialogue involving sex or using "crude" terms like dick, tits, pussy, fuck and similar was completely untranslated. The characters would carry on for several sentences without a single subtitle appearing, only for a caption to pop up every few lines once they moved past the "controversial" words. The best part? It was a horror movie rated R, airing around 1:00 AM, packed with blood and violence. I have no idea who they think they're "protecting" with this kind of censorship.
Moderator lonebadger6 clearly lacks the competence to handle threads regarding terrorism. He just locks everything down, wipes out almost every post, and hands out warnings like he’s throwing candy. Users end up banned because they get handed cards for trolling or hate speech, sometimes even in a chain reaction just to hit a penalty threshold and kick someone off the forum for a few days. Threads about terrorist attacks turn into nothing more than news tickers after his little stunts; you can post a link to a new attack with a death toll, and that’s it. Any actual discussion is strictly forbidden. Not to mention how he threatens to punish posts calling to close the border(!) or those criticizing the obvious failure of the multiculturalism project by labeling them as hate speech(!!!).
The supermoderators need to sit down, coordinate, and appoint someone else—someone actually capable—to moderate these topics. lonebadger6 is clearly unfit for the role due to his personal biases and rose-colored glasses.
If you want to start an informative thread about terrorism—stating an attack happened here or there, with this many dead or wounded—go ahead. But you shouldn't be locking threads or punishing users based on personal views regarding terrorism, especially if someone suggests we should close the borders to newcomers or argues that the project of coexistence with people living completely different lifestyles has failed.
I am certain many more users will show up here to express their dissatisfaction with lonebadger6's catastrophic moderation on these controversial subjects.
Every other post he makes ends with thanks to the Mayor and the City Council... which is basically just him applauding some new successful heist they pulled off. This kind of trolling drivel has no place on this forum, and neither do the people writing it.
Nightmare on Elm Street was a total standout for me when I was a kid, but watching it again recently? It felt... campy, naive, and honestly just straight-up trashy. 🤷 I probably should have left it alone and kept my childhood nostalgia intact.
The issue resolved itself. Windows was still stuck "checking" for updates, but when I went to shut down, the option to "install downloaded updates and shut down" finally appeared. I waited about thirty minutes to an hour before selecting it. Nineteen updates installed during the shutdown process. Once the system rebooted, everything was back to normal and the update check is working fine again.
For the past two days, my Windows 7 machine has been stuck in a perpetual loop, "checking for updates" indefinitely. It just spins for hours as long as the laptop is powered on.
The last successful check and download happened back on April 12th. I have the Windows Defender update installed (Definition 1.217.1113.0)
I suspect watching a movie like that is fun for the first ten or fifteen minutes, but after that, it just becomes exhausting. The handheld camera work is distracting. All that frantic tilting and panning while he gestures "yes" and "no" just feels messy.
Superhero movies are easily my most hated subgenre. I’m honestly just counting down the days until they stop relentlessly churning out the same tired formula.🤮

If you want to do it manually, install the updates one by one. It turns out KB3109094 is the culprit. Install everything else and just hide that specific one. That should keep things running smoothly.
