Back when I was at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in person, I got to witness several overtakes and watch Heidfeld’s Renault catch fire. These days, my expectations are a bit more modest; since Heidfeld isn't on the grid this year, I'll be perfectly content just watching a few passes and seeing Kimi take the win on TV.🙏
Come on, guys... Felipe Massa is a mid-tier driver who can be incredibly quick when he’s handed an ideal car. Under those specific conditions, he doesn't lag far behind Fernando Alonso and can even outpace him at times. This season, Massa's form is actually doing a great job of highlighting just how good the car is: the better the machine, the smaller the gap between Massa and Alonso becomes. In other words, over the last two races, Massa hasn't been the total disaster he was previously, which likely indicates the car has made massive strides. Still, he is nowhere near a victory.
Keep an eye on Sebastian Vettel: for years, people on this forum have argued that he only wins when he's in a superior car and that we really need to see him in something slightly less dominant (though, to be fair, he consistently disputed that by pointing to his win in Australia). This year, we're seeing the reality. He’s still lightning fast, but he doesn't stand out from the rest of the elite group. On top of that, he seems to lack the mental stability shown by this year's main rival, Fernando Alonso. Honestly, I wouldn't bet a dime on him. Why? Because I believe that as long as Ferrari and Red Bull remain comparably strong—as they are now—Vettel stands no chance against Alonso, and might even struggle against Webber. If Newey manages to engineer some kind of miracle, however, he might even exceed the performance of the machine he's given. So, for him to be truly superior, in my view, he needs to be in a position where his nerves aren't constantly on the verge of snapping. And under those specific circumstances, he is the best in the world. As of now this year, those conditions simply don't exist. 🤷

Sure, if he hadn't had Fernando Alonso on his side, he would have ended up with Massa instead. 🤦
@ruggedfox28—Irvine was basically a rookie when Senna handed him a lesson at Suzuka. It wasn't deserved, obviously. If someone like Piastri did that to Vettel today, maybe the result would be the same. Unfair, of course. Even the sheer arrogance of it was labeled as foolish by Hamilton himself. 🤦
Alonso was absolutely masterful today. 🙏 🙏 🙏 Jenson Button and Hamilton looked brilliant out there! 🙏 🙏 It’s a toss-up between Kimi Räikkönen and Hamilton for the move of the day. 🙏 And let's not forget Perez and Kamui. 🙏
All things considered, it was a solid race. I truly enjoyed the spectacle. 🙏

I am anticipating a podium consisting of two Red Bulls and one Ferrari. I have no particular preference regarding the order. Then again, part of me is hoping to see a podium composed of two Renaults and a Sauber. Honestly, the specific sequence matters little to me. 😁
I'm also of the opinion that Matthew Young35 would be an excellent moderator. Beyond just proposing the rules, he provided the second best ((😁) scoring suggestion, which is honestly a massive improvement over what we currently have in place. 🙏 🙏
A championship leader ought to be as sharp and uncompromising as a federal prosecutor, yet maintain the tolerance of Gandhi and the broad-mindedness of Hawking. It is quite evident, however, that such an individual simply does not exist on this forum. That being said, looking at those currently stepping up, you fall among the better candidates—provided we assume Terry Carter2 applied to be a moderator rather than just a data entry clerk. 🙏 👍 😁
Hmm, I wonder if Paska and Terry Carter2 aren't planning on keeping this successful partnership going? 🤷
If the championship actually ends up without a leader and just fizzles out, then we really have to ask ourselves whether there's any point in playing the Super League, which would basically just be filled by tournament players anyway... Well, at least not for next year.
7. A participant is welcome to submit their offer as soon as the previous race concludes. Technically, the deadline for submissions is Tuesday at midnight during the week leading up to the next race. However, one might wonder if such a strict rule actually matters? There are no penalties for missing this window; any offers sent on Wednesday at 12:01 AM or later will still be reviewed. That said, should a bidder fail to meet the official deadline, their most recent offer previously submitted within the NFL remains the active one, granting their opponent the right to respond to that existing bid.
Look, if we’re being honest, they really ought to cut at least one of these series... this whole setup with a mountain of races that nobody actually cares about just doesn't make sense. In my opinion, the Super League should be the first thing on the chopping block because the engagement is nonexistent; having the same eight races following the exact same format all season long is just monotonous. As for the tournaments, I think it would be wise to trim them down—even if it means having gaps in the season where certain races occur while one tournament has wrapped up and the next hasn't started yet. If we limited them to a maximum of five rounds per group, followed immediately by quarterfinals where the top two from each group advance (regardless of whether that means one or three drivers drop out), we might actually see some much-needed momentum.
I honestly believe the Super League has run its course and should be scrapped. We have such a limited pool of drivers, yet we’re spread thin across three different series—not to mention the betting markets, though I'm not even sure if they're still active... wouldn't it be more efficient to just stick to the standard tournaments and the Championship? It would certainly help mitigate this constant fragmentation we're seeing.

William Bennett53 said:Of course. 🙏 If you aren't pulling for General Motors, then who exactly are you supposed to be rooting for? 👍
I feel like I should probably mention something else—and this might be the first time I’ve actually said it out loud on this forum—but while I’ve always had my favorite teams and drivers that I root for, at the end of the day, I am primarily a fan of the sport itself. Because of that, I would much rather sit through a mediocre season where General Motors (or even say, Sauber) struggles, provided it means witnessing a truly great race. Is there anything more important than the quality of the competition? I’d take a thrilling spectacle over a boring procession that just puts me to sleep any day.
Consider this my belated birthday gift to myself: I recently sat down to watch what was, without question, the most stunning race of the season on one of my absolute favorite tracks. To top it all off, my two favorite teams managed to secure second and third place. What more could a man ask for? 🙏 🙏 🙏
I think I’ll head out and grab something quick to eat with some lemon. 😁
Jason Campbell70 said:So you're actually rooting for Kimi and Dorian Selby at Ford?
😁
Of course. 🙏 Who else is a Ford fan supposed to root for if not their own drivers? 👍
But I should probably tell you something else—and this might be the first time I’ve ever admitted it on this forum: as much as I always have my specific teams and drivers that I hold dear, I am, at my core, primarily a fan of the sport itself. Because of that, I would almost always rather see a great race (or a great season) where Ford (or even say, Sauber) performs poorly, than endure a mindless procession just so my favorites can win.
And while we’re on the subject, I have to say: I’m looking forward to seeing the absolute highlight of the year take place at one of my personal favorite tracks. 🙏. 👍
To be perfectly honest, I simply don't have the inclination to sit here and crunch all these numbers right now. It leaves me with no other choice but to offer my tacit support for Matthew Young35's suggestion. 🙏 🙏
