analogsailor98 said:Pretty much every good deed ever—if you don't step in when you could, guilt eats at you for a while. If you do step in, you get to feel like some altruistic hero, basking in that romanticized version of yourself for a minute... there's satisfaction in it. It's just human nature. Everything we do is ultimately for ourselves, no matter how hard the moralists and puritans try to deny it. I don't think I'm a bad person just because helping others gives me a little personal boost.😛
And look, I'm not playing the victim here—not to anyone. I did a good thing because I chose to. Every "sacrifice" is really just passive sadism, isn't it?☕

I don't know... if it were even possible, I wouldn't let someone jump, but doing so would be stepping on their fundamental right—the right to free choice. That's one of the few things that actually makes us free in a world where everything else is conditioned. In my view, we should live because we want to, not because we have to.🤷

Still, I'd probably try to pull them back from the ledge...🙏

The whole talk about selfishness really gets under my skin. Honestly, when I'm dealing with a massive migraine, being selfish is my entire personality. Now imagine someone whose sheer suffering has pushed them to the edge... they're just focused on their own wound and wanting the pain to stop. Call it selfishness if you want.🙄

Look at it this way. Our fundamental right to make our own choices gets trampled on every single day anyway, so nothing is really new there.
By stepping in, I’d just be buying them a little more time to rethink things.

Btw, about how the question was framed... standing at the "edge of a cliff"... I wouldn't do anything. I wouldn't even get close out of pure self-preservation. I wouldn't say a word to avoid causing some sort of backlash, and honestly, I feel like I'd be the hand that pushed them 🤷

It’s pretty much the same situation as what we were discussing in this thread
I wasn't just talking to myself up there; all the posts that used to be sitting right between 🤷 😲
just vanished out of nowhere.

Is this one of those threads where everything starts off fine, but then it just devolves into total chaos and nobody has any clue who’s talking to whom anymore? 🙄
What a mess you guys have made of this thread.... 😲

I’m just throwing ideas out there since you seem to be playing nice with everyone, so I figured, why not myself? 😉

PS: What you wrote above isn't actually going to happen... apparently trolling isn't the same thing as being offensive—at least that's what the mods told me, and they're probably the experts here, right?
....but anyway, I know there was a rule or a link somewhere about this, I just can't track it down. 🙄

Hey... thanks regardless though... for the effort. You're actually being helpful, unlike some people who just keep everything to themselves. 😉

Wow... it’s like you just floated down from heaven itself 🙏

If you had actually translated it... I might have read it faster, but honestly, that would be too much effort on my part 😉

PS, I wrote "tolanje" up there 😁 , but I can't be bothered to edit it

Anyway... don't you have a shorter version for "all that other stuff" too? 😕

Since you're already on such a roll, why don't you actually drop a link explaining what all this technical jargon is about? You know...

So that next time I open my mouth, I actually have a clue what I'm talking about. 😉

Thanks in advance. 🙂

hey, thanks from my side too
man, I just don't have the energy to google everything😉
Should I delete my posts? in Forum Help! ·
Heh, technically you can only really do it while the "edit" button is still active

though you have about a 30-minute window to pull the whole post down after you hit submit (?)
(assuming nobody has quoted you, otherwise it's pretty much pointless)
after that, your only option is to use "edit" to wipe the actual text
but honestly, it’d be fair play if you actually wrote something explaining why you're deleting it
regardless, there's always a paper trail

everything else is off limits 😁
so just think twice before you hit "post"... because once it's out there, there's no undoing the regret.... 😉

roughly speaking

......... that last part about thinking before you post is the only thing that actually matters

Silver vs. Bronze? in Psychology ·
Ronald Newman2 said:Silver!
Getting bronze basically means you've come out on top in some lower tier, I suppose. Even so, there were still two people ahead of you.
To me, silver is really more of a sign that you managed to beat everyone else in the pack and only fell short against the absolute best.

I just don't see it that way.
Plus, you don't always end up facing the toughest competition when you reach the finals.

Kyle Lee7 said:But silver was already won. For it to be "served on a platter," as you put it, you would have had to win the game beforehand—the very same one those bronze medalists lost.
And when people look back later, they see we took home the silver from the championship because we played in the final.
The bronze medalists didn't make it that far.

Eventually, other people take pride in that silver, while those who actually lost are left with nothing but a bitter taste in their mouths... all that talk about unmet expectations and other nonsense.

I’d say she’s an undeniable success, both ways.

The only real difference is whether you had it handed to you on a silver platter or if you actually had to bleed for it.

"Silver" is just being served; "bronze" is something you have to earn through pure grit.

🤷 ☕

Alright, let’s get serious for a second.

I’d take bronze over silver any day.

It all comes down to how you feel at the finish line. Both count as success, sure, but...
Silver feels like you just showed up and got lucky.
Bronze feels like you actually earned it after grinding.

So, what works better for you?
Getting there for free, or putting in the work to make it happen? Personally, I'm all about the hustle.

mistyharbor15 said:Yeah, Donald Trump's win was just taken out of context.😁 When you look at the context, it’s clear Donald Trump is the better choice. Losers..
Silver's smaller than most. To the winners..

Silver is self-sufficient. Donald Trump is dependent on the right variation.

And as the final straw— I can't watch videos directly. Paste the transcript or give me a summary if you want my take on it.
Nobody’s singing Trump songs.😁

You’re going to have to come up with something better than that... a win is a win. 😁

Quincy:
Silver stands on its own, while bronze is just playing catch-up. It’s just right. It’s all just a matter of variation.
Ima More. It’s happening again. 😂 There are all sorts of different bronze alloys out there, depending on what you actually need them for. 😁

And as a final point...

And as the final nail in the coffin:

Silver means you overshot; bronze is just the consolation prize.
Bronze is just some alloy; silver is a precious metal.
😁

🤷

Silver means you missed your mark, and bronze is just a consolation prize.

Silver is a missed goal, whereas bronze is an achieved goal.

Bronze is just some cheap alloy, but silver is actually a precious metal.

Bronze is 1 + 1 ... options
Silver is just 1 ... boring

😁
Silver vs. Bronze? in Psychology ·
You've got it wrong 😉

Bronze is a win; silver is a loss.
Bronze means you hit the mark, while silver means you missed.
Bronze is warm, silver is cold.

And one more thing:
steelsailor3 said:It all really just boils down to the numbers
silver=2
bronze=3
and since 2 comes before 3, I’m taking silver—even if it means grinding my way there through a loss in the finals
at the end of the day, I'm still better than whoever's walking away with bronze, and you should always be aiming for the top tier 😁

since 3 is greater than 2, I'm going with bronze 😁

DAMN!

It’s a massive gamble; it’s either everything or nothing. There’s absolutely nothing backing her up.

Look at other examples instead, and stick to friendship—don't go trying to turn it into romance 😁
