Did they mention they might suspect an endometriotic cyst? I had one that was like 10 cm—it actually ruptured and the fluid started leaking into my abdominal cavity. I puked six times in a really short window and the pain was just brutal. It happened while I was traveling, so I didn't get surgery until a few days later. At the ER, all they gave me on that first day was a single pain injection.

Hey everyone, if you're looking for some help from the community with research or running a survey, BEFORE you go ahead and start a new thread or drop a link to a survey, you absolutely have to check in with the Health section moderators via DM. Just shoot them a private message explaining what the goal is, who’s running the show, and why you're doing it. I guess the topic just needs to actually be relevant to the Health subforum. You can only post that stuff AFTER the mods and admins give you the green light. If you don't, we'll just have to delete the threads or posts, and the people posting them will get sanctioned.

Given my family history, I definitely think regular breast ultrasounds are a must. My grandma passed away from breast cancer, so my doctor suggested I get an ultrasound done every six months just to be safe.

Don't bother stopping your folic acid just because you're on your period. It’s basically just a B vitamin, so I guess there's really no big deal.

Shouldn't the reason you're out be private? Instead, the secretary or the accountant can immediately comment on who’s dealing with pregnancy issues or who’s struggling with depression and stuff like that. Some women already know the codes by heart, and if they don't, they just look up the medical code regulations online.

From what I know, some patient rights association—can't recall the exact name right now—has been trying to fix this for ages, but nothing's happening. Honestly, it's such a mess. When I had to take a few days off for an IVF procedure, my office secretary knew exactly why I was out just from looking at the code. And since she's a total gossip, I bet she told everyone. 🙄 It’s none of their business, period. 🤷

I know some women get a bit darker during pregnancy. No clue what else it could be. You pregnant or something?

If her last period was on December 5th and she’s got regular cycles, then yeah, conception probably happened around then. I guess. Roughly. So, 14 days later—around 7:12 PM. That actually lines up with what you were saying. If you guys hooked up on the 12th, she could’ve gotten pregnant right then or maybe a few days after that, since sperm can hang around for like five days. Or, I guess, maybe she just ovulated earlier than the 19th and it happened then. Who knows.

Doctors usually start counting a pregnancy from the first day of your last period. I guess it's just how they do things here. Day one. So, about that whole "last period" thing—it’s kind of a joke because, honestly, most women aren't even pregnant yet when that starts. Not everyone tracks their cycle like they're running a marathon, and tracking ovulation is basically impossible for most people. So, doctors just grab that last period date and sort of... go with it? I guess. Even though you technically conceive about two weeks later, doctors in the US always count the pregnancy from day one of the period. Just how it works, I suppose.

Look, I guess there are times when pregnancy math gets a little weird. Sometimes you have to eyeball the duration based on an ultrasound—like if a woman’s cycle is totally all over the place. Or, if she went through IVF, they usually just count from the date of the egg retrieval. It's not always straightforward, I guess.

Look, I mean... Most women, I guess. Pregnancy counts from... I guess? Honestly, who even knows anymore. It’s all pretty vague. LMP. Last menstrual period. Simple as that..

Your primary care doc can't handle the referral for hormone testing (sex hormones). You'd need to see a "network" gynecologist—basically someone working at a community health center who’s in-network with Medicare.

Where are you getting the idea that our insurance covers us abroad? I mean, whenever I travel, I just grab some travel health insurance and call it a day. No stress.

Not in hospitals, no. But I guess you could at a private clinic like Mayo Clinic if they're just doing a spinal block. 😁

If you're getting calls like that right in the middle of your cycle, it might just be ovulation. I guess.

I, I totally panicked recently when I realized my insurance card had expired (based on the date printed on it), but they told me it doesn't even matter what it says since it just automatically renews and stays valid anyway 😁
