The church uses the "Satanism" label as a scare tactic to maintain control over people. Real metalheads aren't Satanists—I know this because I remember when Judas Priest had lyrics like:

So, metal isn't about Satanism. It encourages individual thought and independence, which is exactly what the church fears. They invent these labels to demonize anyone who doesn't fit their mold just to preserve their own absolute dictatorship...

The whole saga surrounding the festival is pretty wild... since this forum was down, I was hanging out on an internet forum right when the blood was being spilled most heavily over this topic 🙂 When you and cik are bickering, it’s basically daycare level compared to what went down over there 🙂 deleting all the threads, death threats, and other spicy nonsense... honestly, that guy from San Diego probably watched Wayne's World and thought, "Hey, look, I can throw a concert too." 🙂

That old Zorn take on Nazi Punks was better than the Napalm Death version... especially when you factor in those 25 people at the club screaming FUCK OFF back at them 🙂

Me and my buddy were actually talking about this the other day. We joked about what we'd do if a major label offered us a contract. We’d do whatever they wanted—cut the screaming, slow the tempo down, play quieter... just so we could eat at the best restaurants, be around the best people, and live large for a year. If we have to complain about the stage monitors just to keep up appearances, so be it. A guy's allowed to enjoy himself once in a while... 🙂

Look, if Television couldn't even pull off a decent live set—like when Verlaine stops halfway through a song just to ask the rest of the band what they're actually playing—then I don't care who they'd even bother going into a studio for. Recording something like that would be pointless. That's not an opinion; it's just a fact.

We were basically testing the limits of our own tolerance, then we just headed out after the fourth song by that Canadian band Sonic Youth was playing. They were way too loud, and honestly, we were just getting too old for this. It was a Sunday, too, and we had to be back at work the next morning...
