lonebear3 said:Just out of curiosity, does anyone else deal with issues with their peripheral vision, or just vision in general?

So, after a bunch of random accidents, a family member of mine went for a routine checkup and found out they actually have a narrowed field of vision. Basically, they can't register stuff down below knee level and things like that.

I'm talking constant mishaps—banging shoulders on doorframes, smashing knees into the coffee table, you name it.

Honestly, I don't have any vision problems at all! If anything, I’d say I’m a total natural because I’m super coordinated in all the sports I play, whether I'm out on the field or back when I used to work in the lab... I guess I just get too relaxed when there aren't strict parameters to follow and end up just flailing my limbs everywhere!!😬
Sandra Wood45 said:(that whole thing with your subway window doesn't count as being clumsy, it's just plain bad luck. 😘 )

Lol, okay, maybe it *would* have been just bad luck if I hadn't literally tried to shut that exact same window one minute before! Clearly, I just failed miserably at it. 😬

And get this—my friend had an experience that I honestly thought only happened in those crappy slapstick comedies. We were walking through some of those super cute, old-school cobblestone streets in Savannah when she hit a patch of... well, let's just say dog poop. She slipped big time, went flying through the air (like, actually airborne!), and landed right on top of the pile, cracking her tailbone in the process.
If I hadn't seen it happen with my own two eyes, I would've thought you were making it up! 😲
I’m basically a magnet for high-risk sports, so I end up bruised and battered pretty often. But honestly? My absolute favorite injuries are the ones so embarrassing I can barely even admit them out loud! 😍 Like, I seriously thought I was the only person on earth who has slammed their entire face into the bathtub... or that time I caught my nose right in the trunk of my car. Then there was the time an old window on a city bus practically smacked me on top of the head, or when I tripped over my own dog and ended up face-planting down the stairs. Poor little girl of mine is going to be constantly competing with her mama to see who can rack up more bruises and scrapes. 😍
It's hitting 105 degrees... in Health ·
Here’s my game plan for next week: hitting the gym super early, probably around 6:00 or 6:30 AM. After that, I'll be hiding out in some air-conditioned spot to stay cool until maybe 8:30 or 9:00 at night. Then, if the weather behaves, I might grab a coffee on a patio—fingers crossed there's even a little breeze! I won't be heading to the beach until the end of the month though...
Pencil poke injury in Health ·
coppergardener said:I honestly don't know... how deep are we talking? Sam Hall15—Sam! We have a serious situation on our hands here!!! Just soak it, then head straight to the urgent care first thing tomorrow morning to get that extracted; why on earth would you try to tinker with it yourself?

A friend of mine—just some girl back in middle school—got poked in the hand with a pencil, and she still has a tiny bit of graphite lodged under her skin 🙂, and honestly, forget about using antiseptic or whatever; everything will be just fine.

🤣

Honestly, if you’d said "in the butt" instead of "in the hand," I would've been the one doing the stabbing! 😳.

It was second grade, I'm positive. And knowing that girl, she probably still has graphite lodged in her backside because I never used those cheap little sharpeners—my mom used to use those tiny craft knives to sharpen pencils until they were basically lethal weapons😁.
More on ankle ligaments in Health ·
Figured I’d jump in here too, since I’m basically a serial offender when it comes to ankle sprains...😛 (I only actually went to the doctor for one of them..)

Sandra Wood45 said:It’s kind of tripping me out because I read that the yellow color shows up toward the end, but mine was already looking yellowish this morning—and now it's back to being Kissing😕

It's Kissing, but I'm guessing it's more towards the bottom of your foot (the periphery)—that's just the bruising settling down, so seriously, don't let it freak you out.

Question number two: I've been glued to the couch lately, only getting up to run to the bathroom or grab a snack when my husband isn't right there. Is that okay? Should I be trying to move around more even if it hurts, or should I keep resting until it "heals"? And when I am standing, is it better to put weight on my heel or more on my toes?

For the first two or three days, try to move as little as possible. After that, start putting weight on that leg once the swelling goes down: start by just using your toes, then gradually bring your heel down, just sort of testing the waters. It’ll sting at first, but after a few days it gets bearable and then starts feeling better and better.

Polar Ice ointment (the blue stuff, smells super strong like menthol, you can find it in any CVS or Walgreens under a different name) was a total lifesaver for me.

And how will I know when it's time to get back to moving normally? When the pain stops? Based on how it looks?

Hmm... "normally"..? 🤔 If you play sports, stay off that leg for a month, but you'll be walking fine before you even realize it..
You're always going to feel that joint, though. Honestly, I’ve already got this phobia that it’s just going to keep hurting more and more as I get older..
Spotting before my period: Is this normal? in Health ·
Honestly, spotting like that could be a million different things, so there’s really zero point in just guessing: it might be some super normal ovulation spotting (kind of like how you might bleed a little after sex right before your period hits), or it could be something else entirely like cervical ectropion, a polyp, or even just some minor physical irritation... and I haven't even started listing stuff yet.

Just go see an OBGYN and get it sorted out.
How to stop biting your nails? in Health ·
I was never really a hardcore nail biter, you know? It would just come in waves, and even when I did it, I never went so far as to draw blood or make my fingers look like I’d been dunking them in acid... And no, it definitely wasn't some deep-seated act of rebellion against my parents (at least not for me!), no matter how hard the resident moral police here (who are always so judgmental!) try to convince people otherwise. For me, it was just a pure habit—something occasional, private, and totally harmless.
It was a habit that died the exact second I got braces put on my upper teeth... There was absolutely NO way I could bite down on a nail even if I wanted to! 🤣
Now they're actually growing out to decent lengths, so I'm babying them... 😍
Bungee jumping: Any good spots near me? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Man, I went bungee jumping in New Zealand—dropped from like 335 feet! I was seriously shaking for a good thirty minutes straight after. When I finally climbed out of the boat, my friends were all teasing me, and honestly, I felt like I’d lost at least a couple of pounds just from the adrenaline rush alone. 😲

It's this forum 🙂 , here's the thread..http://www.forum.com/showthread.php?t=219334

Honestly, these ladies are absolute gems. Even if you don't have an official diagnosis yet, just reading through shows how much support they offer. They are so incredibly patient when walking newcomers through everything... such a vibe!🙂

silentscout34 said:Ugh, I know, right? But honestly, ever since I can remember, my sisters have been raiding my entire closet—they take everything, even my underwear!

So, where exactly is this clinic located?

http://www.jnj.com/

And hey, tell your sister she seriously needs to jump on this forum! We have an awesome thread dedicated to Cin- and HPV. There are tons of women here sharing their own stories, giving great advice, and just being super supportive. It makes such a difference.. 👍

Good luck! 🙂

silentscout34 said:What about women?

Oh, totally! I was just calling out the guys specifically because it’s not the norm... My sister actually went through the absolute wringer before she finally got treated, and now? She's totally clear. A year and a half later and zero warts. Zero. Zilch.🙂
Look, if it helps cheer you up, those warts are usually just caused by the lowest level of Cin-
As for stuff like underwear or towels—I mean, girls are basically grown adults at this point, they should really be using their own gear. We still don't know every single way HPV spreads, but honestly? I wouldn't rule out sharing laundry. Especially those colorful pieces that you wash on a low heat setting.

darkbison63 said:Man, I’ve already been through the whole freezing treatment process and picked up some cream, but honestly? It feels like a total joke. The thing is, the virus just stays tucked away in your skin, so it feels like I'm basically sentenced to life on the sidelines. Total celibacy, man. Seriously, fuck HPV. I’m also losing my mind wondering if I accidentally passed this thing to someone during the incubation period. I just want my life back, you know? This whole situation is a straight-up nightmare. 🙂

You should totally reach out to Johnson & Johnson! They’ve really carved out a niche specializing in male HPV and getting all that specific typing done right. Might be worth a shout to them!
Man, you are seriously living that monk life lately! Seriously, get out there already! 🙂
Jamie Long49 said:We’ve got a massive terminology mix-up happening here. How on earth can iron levels go up
while hemoglobin is actually dropping? Can someone please make sense of this for me?

It’s hemolysis, plain and simple. Red blood cells are breaking down way too fast, dumping all that iron from the decomposing hemoglobin, but the body just can't churn out new ones quickly enough to keep pace with the chaos.
The confusion usually stems from people treating anemia (which is basically a shortage of red blood cells or hemoglobin) as if it’s always just an iron deficiency. Honestly, even some doctors fall into this trap! They see an anemic kid, skip the deep-dive testing, and just start pumping them with iron supplements—but most of that iron just ends up getting stored away instead of actually helping.

What do you think about that one?

Honestly, don't go for the Apple gear unless you absolutely have to. The new Alivio setup is actually pretty solid—it's built so much better than the Acera stuff that you can really feel the difference when you're out riding! Between those three options, I'm still putting my money on the DB.😉
Torn between Mountain Biking or a DB? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Honestly, before $1000 I’d say you’re probably hitting a bit of a ceiling with the Olivia, but hey, if you can scrape together another $167 (maybe ask your grandma for a little loan, right? 😉 ), you could snag this Cannondale with the full Shimano Deore setup. It looks seriously sweet 😍 http://www.keindl-sport.com/proizvod.asp?id=1456

You should also take a look at what Giant and Orbea have in stock over at REI... 🙂
Torn between Mountain Biking or a DB? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
DB for sure—I’ll always pick better components over a mechanical disc any day of the week (like choosing SRAM or Shimano Deore over Acera on a Trek). Honestly, I think V-brakes are way more reliable than those cheap mechanical discs anyway... plus, let's be real, the DB looks much cleaner. 😁

Seriously though, after riding that massive shuttle roller coaster at Six Flags, I was totally feeling it! If I could survive that adrenaline rush, anyone else can definitely handle this too.
