Best callus shaver for tough feet?
in Health ·
No, this isn't actually meant for ingrown nails 🙂, rather it's for those thickened patches on the soles—specifically the heels. Though, if you go overboard with it, you'll just end up with #trending—I actually tried cutting my own calluses once, and honestly, it just made the skin grow back even thicker! I’d much rather stick to a foot file, some exfoliation, a pumice stone, or even just a bit of lemon juice... provided you do it consistently. And if your job requires you to be on your feet all day, please, do yourself a favor and wear some supportive, cushioned shoes.
Best callus shaver for tough feet?

Yes, they actually carry it at Walmart, though if I were you, I’d check out Target—that new drugstore over by the mall—since their prices tend to be a bit more reasonable. You might even want to swing by CVS; they always have the most random assortment of stuff in stock! Just... please, do be careful not to nick yourself, okay? Try to keep your hand nice and relaxed while you're doing it.
The Oedipal Complex
in Psychology ·
I'm not entirely sure... I've spent quite a bit of time studying Anna Freud—so, really, my introduction to his work came exclusively through her lens. I haven't actually read anything by Siggy himself, but—I don't know—there’s just something about him, isn't there? He seemed like a genuine genius; his sense of logic was so profound it almost bordered on madness. Truly one in a million. And if he hadn't dedicated his life to this field, who knows... perhaps he would have ended up in a mental institution. So much of what he proposed makes perfect sense to me, yet—and bear with me here—it feels: a) undeniably incomplete; b) somewhat inaccessible to the average mind (I wonder what kind of people actually seek out psychoanalytic approaches? It seems most applicable to deeply contemplative types who enjoy constant analysis); c) and this might sound like a sweeping generalization, but I feel he was far better suited for diagnostics than for actual therapy; d) plus, he certainly misstated himself in several places—I can't think of a better way to put it, but "phallicism"?😕 — please, let's be reasonable...
By the way, I would be immensely grateful if someone could recommend some more modern psychoanalysts—ideally nothing too dense or impenetrable (as you can tell from the ramblings I've written here, I am certainly not a psychology major).

He supposedly "diagnosed" his own daughter, Anna, with a negative Oedipal complex 🙂—all because she was reportedly jealous of her father-in-law, apparently trying to get closer to her sister instead.
What to do after a course of antibiotics?
in Health ·
Goodness! Um... you actually don't need to wait until *after* you finish your course of antibiotics to start taking care of yourself—you really should be doing it right *during* the treatment itself. I am not particularly familiar with this second medication you mentioned, but Clindamycin is quite potent, isn't it? And if it is, you might find yourself dealing with some digestive issues. A few years back, I was prescribed Clindamycin and—well, let's just say I experienced the full spectrum of side effects: fatigue, nausea, hives, even gastritis... but if I had to guess, the most common trouble will likely be digestive upset. Therefore, please, do make sure to pick up a PROBIOTIC (!). Aside from that, what else can you do? Well, try to ensure you're getting enough sleep, plenty of fresh air, some light exercise, and a balanced diet. For instance—and this is important—do not take your medication on an empty stomach, and try not to overload your system with greasy foods or heavy doughy carbs; the last thing you need right now is a bout of gastritis! You have to stay organized. While I don't know much about the potential toxicity of this specific drug, I don't think some herbal cleansing teas could hurt. Just be cautious with immune boosters; I personally don't believe a mountain of Vitamin C should be treated as the ultimate pedestal for health. You have to look at the whole picture. If you aren't sleeping, eating properly, or moving your body enough, then supplements alone won't be able to do much for you.
Fahrenheit 451

So, we aren't talking about 9/11 here—no, I mean a total classic from 1966. Does anyone know if there's a single video rental shop left in Indianapolis or maybe Chicago that actually carries it? I happened to stop by two of the biggest spots in Indy recently—and yes, call it blasphemy if you must—but they didn't have it!

Vaseline shimmer glow spray (it's got a pretty straightforward formula... just some Vitamin E, alcohol, and a handful of other essentials; doesn't leave you feeling tacky at all; 30-$12)
Stephen King's IT

I’ve been watching horror movies since I was three years old—can you believe that?—and honestly, I think I’ve become somewhat desensitized to the genre over the years. I thought I was totally numb to the scares, but "It" absolutely terrified the living daylights out of me! It was one of those rare films that actually got under my skin. Suddenly, I found myself checking under my bed, staring suspiciously at the bathtub drain, and even feeling uneasy around the toilet... ugh, just pure goosebumps. Even so, I find the whole genre incredibly fascinating.
Migraine dissolving tablets

Has anyone here actually tried those new supplements from Natural Wealth? I’m not entirely sure what the primary active ingredient is—I believe they’re plant-based—but does anyone have experience with them? Also, what about acupuncture? If that ends up being the only thing providing relief for chronic migraines, is it typically covered by insurance here in the States? (I’m a bit unclear on how our healthcare system regulates alternative therapies like that...) I don't personally suffer from migraines, but my mother has dealt with them since she was a child; her head hurts about 27 out of 30 days a month. It honestly terrifies me quite a bit—she seems like such a high-risk candidate for a stroke, especially considering her kidney issues and the fact that both of her parents suffered several strokes themselves.
And could someone please recommend a specialist who focuses on migraine treatment in the Chicago area?
Thanks so much!

Hangover cures?

Since alcohol tends to interfere with how your body absorbs essential vitamins—which is a bit of a bummer, isn't it?—it really is quite wise to make sure you're fueling up with plenty of nutritious food whenever you decide to indulge in a few drinks.
Digestive issues

Probiotics, some electrolyte solutions like Pedialyte, maybe some Pepto-Bismol, or even just a tiny drop of high-quality bourbon on a spoonful of raw coffee grounds—and don't forget hemp tea, which is one of those old-school remedies you'd find in a grandmother's kitchen back in the day...
FOX - "The Ultimate IQ Test
in Psychology ·
That’s just for the simpletons... I mean, what kind of test limits you to a mere 130(?)... good grief... it's like the Olympics... absolute nonsense... they call it a "major intelligence test," and then immediately pivot to asking "how smart are we"... honestly, any fool knows that IQ and general intelligence aren't exactly the same thing... though I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, given how shallow the reporting is on networks like ABC or MTV... It makes me wonder what everyone else thinks about this mess... either our major networks need a total overhaul, or they should just be shut down entirely.
Trouble waking up in the morning
in Health ·
I usually start my day by tossing an entire lemon into a glass of water and just... well, I let it all out! It’s quite refreshing, really. As for coffee? Absolutely not—I don't touch the stuff. Honestly, caffeine makes me feel borderline psychotic; it triggers this restless urge to fidget at the absolute worst possible moments. Instead, I stay incredibly hydrated—lots of herbal teas and freshly squeezed juices. No fancy coffee shop concoctions for me! I prefer getting my Vitamin C through whole foods, though if I'm running behind schedule and can't squeeze something fresh, I'll occasionally grab an Isostar or maybe a Gatorade. But here is the thing: if I only manage to scrape together four or five hours of sleep, no amount of energy boosters in the world can save me from total exhaustion or a breakout of cold sores.
Tired, aching legs
in Health ·
So, just to give you an idea of my summer routine—I’m working this job where I’m on my feet for anywhere from 8 to 12 hours a day. No days off, either. And sitting breaks? We're talking maybe five minutes total in a whole shift. It sounds exhausting because, frankly, it is. Every single day once I clock out, I’m basically howling—and sometimes even crying, if we're being honest. I have tried everything: creams, gels, essential oils, fancy bath salts, orthopedic pillows... nothing seems to touch the pain. Eventually, I stopped by a local pharmacy and picked up some Relaxshoe sandals. They are actually quite comfortable, but the selection is so limited that I'm feeling a bit stuck. So, I was wondering:
1. Does anyone know where I can find more styles from that same brand in a city like Chicago or Phoenix? Also, what other footwear would you recommend for someone in my position? (Just a heads-up: wooden soles are absolutely out of the question.) —feel free to send me a private message.
2. Can I use those gel inserts designed for high heels in flat shoes, or do I need to go out and buy something specifically made for flats?
Thanks so much!

Allergic reaction to Omexium baby wipes?
in Health ·
Well, it seems to me that almost all fabric softeners share more or less the exact same chemical makeup—isn't that just fascinating? I mean, if you take a moment to actually scrutinize the labels on every single bottle I've examined, they all seem to list various preservatives. Does anyone out there happen to know of a softener that doesn't include them? Any leads would be wonderful! Thank you!
How many hours of sleep are you guys getting?
in Health ·
9 1/2—yes, nine and a half hours! If I manage to get anything less than nine, my entire skeletal system decides to stage a protest—every single bone starts aching, truly. Not to mention, I am quite the sensitive meteoropath; weather changes affect me more than they probably should. It is most frustrating when some retiree stops me just to say, "Oh, why are you so exhausted? You youngsters are so healthy, whereas we old folks barely have even a pension left..." while I am sitting there thinking that most seniors actually had a much easier time at my age than I am having right now! Apparently, we young people simply aren't allowed to have delicate constitutions! Pish!!
