....nooooooooooooooooOOOOOOO...anything but that🙂
...oops—completely forgot to 😍 😍 😍 for Santa's 🙂

...just hand him over to Saint so he can finally experience some actual affection... (on screen only, obviously—before any other ideas cross your mind) 🙂 )...
So, they're actually going to give someone else the glasses? Giving them to someone other than Larry—or maybe even Lara—is just... I don't know. It feels off, doesn't it? 😍 (I have certain glasses in mind...)
Jose Chase2 said:As long as they don't get too carried away with this newfound freedom—you know, starting to make those pretentious movies about running through meadows and picking wildflowers.🙂 🤣
...come on, let's not be cynical—maybe they'll actually start filming some exciting, decent "erotic" scenes instead of that total disaster we saw in The Matrix Reloaded.🙂
...does it even matter? I mean, sure, the media is obsessed—digging into people's private lives is basically their entire business model—but does it actually affect us whether Larry is still Larry or if he’s changed his name, surname, or gender...?
...is The Matrix trilogy any better or worse because of it?
...if this makes him happier, then honestly, I’m all for it. Who knows, maybe this change gives him a whole new "perspective" when directing, and we end up benefiting as viewers anyway🙂
...plus, I have to say, he looks pretty cute with that mustache😍

It’s a shame, really—the man was a total legend. The godfather of all those Hollywood mavericks.
He was this supremely confident iconoclast whose biggest flaws were also his greatest strengths. Honestly, he was so one-of-a-kind that you’d think someone had to invent him if he didn't already exist.
😍 👍 I wouldn't say I'm a fan of everything he touched, but I have to give him his due—some of the stuff he pulled off is straight-up 😍

...I'd sign my name to this beautifully phrased sentiment word for word.
🙂

😕
...couldn't agree more with that dose of irony...
...but then again... at least it sounds nice 😍 ...let's give them a chance—maybe they'll actually pull something off...👍 🙂
...honestly, I would give anything if they’d just stop making sequels once and for all... 😢

...because that's just how the law works. 😍
I’m not even kidding—I am being completely serious. 🙂 His lectures are honestly great—they just happen to be a little too early for my liking... He’s really the only one who can actually talk about elections on TV without sounding like a total amateur, unlike that huge crowd of people who seem to think they're suddenly experts on everything. 🙂 ...and honestly, I just dig them. Any person who talks about human interaction and our political community as something "extraordinary"—that’s someone who’s slowly but surely winning me over. 🙂
It’s kind of like my taste in movies—I've always gravitated toward the stuff that actually has some soul. You know, those stories that feel a bit like a dark fairy tale, maybe even a little tragic, but ultimately artistic? I'll take something deep and meaningful over that shallow, flashy, empty blockbuster nonsense any day of the week.
...hmmm, I might have gotten a little carried away... 🙂
..Todd Solondz... 😍
...I mean, I've had Palindromes sitting on my watchlist for days, weeks, months... yet they never seem to actually get scheduled... but hey, I think I might finally "catch" them just in time for Christmas... 🙂
...but you know what? I’m never going to forgive him for stopping his work with P. S. Hoffman after "Happiness" 😍 — honestly, the only way I'll truly show him some respect is if he brings him back for one of his films 🙂
...long live P. T. Anderson 😍 (oops, maybe I got a little carried away there... *blushing*)

The Smiths and The Sisters of Mercy hover somewhere between "passable" and "occasionally interesting."
...look, there are certain things and people in this world you just don't mess with... Ben & Jerry's ice cream... Depeche Mode posters (even if DM reminds some people of a CVS aisle)... Piet Mondrian and everything he touched... Philip Seymour Hoffman 😍 ...Thomas Hobbes (he's NOT a totalitarian! 🙂 )... Oliver Neuville—even when he’s at his absolute worst (which, let's face it, makes him the best of the worst right now—but still 😍 )... the duo of Harmony Korine + Ewen Bremner (honestly, one of the most beautiful things on the planet 😍)... Nenad Zakosek 🙂 ...
...and then there's The Smiths—no matter what anyone says, they're always beautiful. 😍
🙂
Lisa Adams54 said:Oh, absolutely—I actually remember when Michael York was my 😍 😍 😍
The old one was great too, along with his cats (in a completely different context, obviously 😬
...I can't believe it—he was totally 😍 ...
...Basically my absolute favorite soundtrack lately—even though it’s definitely not anything new...
...I’m talking about the one from American Beauty. And I mean the actual original score, not one of those "inspired by" compilation albums...
...it is just stunning...😍...
...Also, Dead Man Walking is such a perfect vibe for this time of year—but again, I'm talking about the original music (the Robbins family 😍, if you can track it down... though if you can't, an "inspired by" collection works too... just not quite as well...🙂
...hmmmmm...
...this is such a tough one to tackle... mostly because I’m just not really into those typical, sugary "Christmas movies." Don't get me wrong, I can sit through them, but they don't exactly make my heart race...
...though, it would be nice to revisit *Nightmare Before Christmas* (regardless of whether it counts as a holiday flick or not! 🙂 )...
..other than that... I find myself craving those genuine, tender, occasionally heartbreaking—you know, *human*—films that feel like a warm blanket...
...I want those Tykwerr *fairytales*. I could watch "Heaven" on loop, or put on "Princess + Warrior" from sunrise to sunset (I actually caught a glimpse of "Denmark Strait" yesterday—now *that* is a real fairytale... totally surreal and perfect for the season...)...I see someone mentioned "Dead Man Walking" if you're looking for a good cry... or "Punch-Drunk Love" to just soak in romance over and over again 😍 ...plus plenty of Linklater and Van Santa... maybe "Son" (even if he'll never exist 😢 ) so I can experience those massive emotional highs and lows that happen to others, and then bleed into my own life...
...and finally... just wanting to laugh and cry at the same time... maybe while watching... hmmmmm... "Sideways"... or something equally sweet, beautiful, sad, and joyful...
...but clearly, nobody is going to fulfill these specific cravings for me... 😢 so I guess I'll just have to manage on my own... 🙂
Emily Torres2 said:No amount of hype can turn THIS little flick—even if it is fun, I'll admit—into Oscar material.
...but why not? If Vinterberg managed to "conquer" Cannes with a similarly charming, brilliant little movie (picking up the Jury Prize, just a hair away from the Golden Palm), why couldn't Radic "conquer" some other similar institutions? 🙂 I mean, the movie isn't bad at all... sure, it’s not exactly groundbreaking, but it has its own "natural" charm...
...honestly, as I’ve mentioned before, I don't personally put much faith in the Oscars anyway—mostly for "other" and "thirdly" reasons...
...personally, I started watching Ostojicev's film, but I gave up after a few minutes because I just wasn't feeling it. I actually think "Ivy" ends up being better (though shame on me for not giving the guy a fair shake 👎 )...
...but then again, that's just me...
...hmmm...don't get me wrong, I’m definitely not backing the Church and its reaction to this movie being filmed... but all this insults and foul language on the forum is getting a bit much—including the attacks on people who probably aren't even part of the group I'm thinking of... because, frankly, I have zero connection to the Church itself...
...but despite some totally inappropriate reactions from certain members of the religious hierarchy—people who claim the film is "Satan's work," or at least a project glorifying Satan (and apparently, they want to make sure that same Satan doesn't just "wander onto" the set, ensuring our beautiful, holy, and 100% Satan-free American locations remain untainted)—they aren't treating it as an artistic endeavor. At the very least, it's a commercial product meant for entertainment, and that's how it should be handled—especially since I personally don't think this remake of Omen is going to be some transcendent work of art...
...comments like "screw those greedy bastards, what a bunch of church fanatics" strike me as incredibly tacky. It drags all of us—as forum users and participants in this debate—down to the same level as those specific church members who can't hold a calm conversation or use actual arguments. For instance, if their main point was truly about protecting a monument from vandalism, they should have just said that clearly and loudly... but, as someone pointed out quite pointedly, they could have also highlighted the positive sides of the project—like the potential income for locals—without any need for the "worshipping Hollywood" nonsense some people were rambling about. That's completely pointless—it's not like the American "movie factory" is some supreme authority over intelligent people who are perfectly capable of thinking about their own interests and the interests of others—which, let's be honest, exists in every structure, including the Church. Instead of defending their views with dignity, they just go public by peddling myths and scaring people with nonsense about Satan appearing on screen...
...still, as banal, ridiculous, and sad as those statements are, we shouldn't forget that this isn't an official stance of the Church. It's just a few members who clearly think they're far more important than they actually deserve to be... but also—and this is more important in my view—the people who destroyed the sets and that valuable monument certainly weren't priests. They were just people, likely young like you and me, who are undoubtedly influenced by the Church but still possess their own brains and agency (and hey, the Enlightenment thinkers were right about these things too 🙂)...
...and for everyone who thinks banning the filming this way was a good move... hmmm... here’s how I see it: if the film crew had actually come, we would have had guests willing to spend money. We would have seen people—artists or entertainers, depending on how you look at it—actually working (something some of us, myself included, probably never will). We could have shown ourselves to be good hosts, which would have encouraged more productions to visit in the future, potentially giving us the "space" to become a regular filming location. A few of our locals could have earned some cash as extras (maybe not a fortune, but something), and the monuments would have been carefully protected, since as far as I know, those things are regulated by contracts and subject to lawsuits. Instead, we have zero guests, which means zero extra revenue. We have negative publicity spreading worldwide, new tensions between the church and the citizens, and it's going to cost us tax dollars to catch the vandals (since the police are funded by the budget we all contribute to), and we're the ones left with a damaged monument...
COULD THE SITUATION HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN WORSE FOR US??? In the end, we're the ones to blame... 😢 😢 😢 😢
