How to make an animated film in Movies ·
Depends on what style you're aiming for... 3D, 2D, glass etching, oil on glass... or something else entirely?

Maybe these docs will give you some ideas... take a look and see what sticks...🤷

Stuck (2007) in Movies ·
Saw this on TV the other day... that blonde actress from American Pie plays a driver... watched this scene where some guy starts honking his horn and there's a mail carrier or something in front of the house, so she just loses it and whacks him over the head with a mallet to make him stop honking hahaha

I’ve never actually picked up the novel... just the comics, so honestly, compared to those, I thought the movie was incredible...

And look, it's just how I see things... a comic is a comic, a book is a book, and a movie is a movie. They're totally different media—even if they feel similar—so there's really no point in comparing them when each one brings its own unique vibe to the table...

Looking at the whole concept of the series... it was a long time ago, but if I remember right, it was made specifically for kids. Tons of monsters, plenty of fights, just a little blood... something like Mighty Max or He-Man.

Conan is dark and bloody, definitely not meant for children.

Jerry Martin19 said:I don't know. I'm really not feeling the style of Red Nails at all. It doesn't capture the Hyborian Age vibe nearly as well as that 90s animated series did. this version of Conan looks like some Native American character, and the posters look just like any random Cartoon Network cartoon. this Conan actually feels way more convincing to me, even if the show was toned down for kids. (Like how Conan doesn't kill Set's servants, he just sends them to another dimension or whatever)

p.s. and that little clip (0:22) from the intro where Conan "gets rid of" those two skeletons and the camera zooms out to focus on him standing on a pile of bones and skulls while the narrator shouts "CONAN, THE MIGHTIEST WARRIOR EVER!"
who can actually top that? 🙏

Not sure... like someone else already said, this Conan looks just like He-Man to me...

Milius's movie is great... regardless of whether it stuck to the book or not, that's the Conan I expect, and that's what we're getting here...

Appaloosa (2008) in Movies ·
A sequel?!

Even though the movie hasn't even dropped yet, actor Ed Harris is already hyping up potential sequels to his gritty western "Appaloosa" which hits theaters this weekend.

Novelist Robert B. Parker actually wrote two follow-ups to the 2005 novel that "Appaloosa" is based on, and Harris told MTV News that those stories "could be combined into a sequel"
.
The second book, "Resolution", just hit shelves this year, and a third novel is already being written. Harris mentioned that the prospect of directing a sequel is "interesting" and would likely follow the same crew: Cole (Harris), Allie (Renée Zellweger), and Hitch (Viggo Mortensen).

As for the plot? "Allie runs off with some other guy. Cole tracks this guy down and shoots him, in cold-blooded murder. And then he goes and finds Hitch in this town , and They go partner up and They go to find Allie in Texas somewhere. She's in some whorehouse there, she's really in bad shape.

To drawing kind of gives me those animated Hellboy movie vibes to me—which are awesome, by the way (even if one is a bit of a letdown)... so I think this could turn out great.

PS. That Conan animated series that used to run on ABC (that Cooonan guy... always swinging that sword... Conan LOL) will definitely be better, haha 😁

Lately, the internet has been flooded with rumors about the new Conan remake slated for 2010. There’s endless speculation about which A-lister will step in to replace Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the director list keeps spinning—we've heard names like Rob Zombie, Robert Rodriguez, Neil Marshall, and most recently, Brett Ratner. Honestly, though? It all feels like it's stuck in limbo right now.
While we wait to see if this live-action mess actually happens, there's a silver lining: an animated take on the classic comics/novels. You can tell this is a massive production just by looking at the voice cast. We're talking heavy hitters like Ron Perlman voicing Conan, alongside Marg Helgenberger, James Marsden, Mark Hamill, and Clancy Brown. It was originally supposed to drop this year, but the studio pushed it to next year to polish the animation and try to sync up the release closer to the live-action version...
Anyway, here’s the lowdown...

Over here, we just get this mediocre version
link 2. It's better than nothing, I suppose, but the American version is miles ahead 👍👍

I don't get why the British version is considered trash... personally, it looks way better than the American one... nicer packaging... a buddy of mine owns it and he's stoked with it...👍

You could try using a beefier battery—you can probably pick one up for around $500$233... basically, you wire the floodlights directly to the battery and that should do the trick. Just check with an electrician on the specifics so you don't end up causing a little... incident 👍

alright, thanks for the heads up. I'll go scout out what's available and get back to you.

oh, one more thing—does anyone know where I can find some smaller generators? Like, something quiet that won't drive the neighbors crazy? And what kind of price tag am I looking at for those??

Same here...check those big-box stores...Walmart and stuff...but honestly, don't expect to find anything decent for less than $1667...

Honestly, looking at how critics and audiences reacted, the movie definitely beat expectations... it hit about 60% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.4/10 on IMDb...

Look... you can grab some green or blue fabric at any fabric store that sells by the yard... just depends on how much space you need to cover. Stretch it out and you're good to go.
As for lighting... if you want decent, powerful lights for around 100-$100, you can find them at basically any big-box retailer like Walmart or Mercury... 👍

Honestly, when I was working on my own film and needed a green screen, I just bought about ten sheets of green paper (100x150 cm), taped them to the wall, and called it a day haha... here's a link so you can see how it turned out lol...

So I finally made it out to Coachella... only caught the Saturday vibes, but honestly, the whole thing was top-tier. From the charm of Savannah to how well everything was run—the crew, the setup, even the awards ceremony was way more "extra" than I expected, haha👍👍👍
Anyway, I checked one thing off my bucket list... got to meet Christian Milic and we just talked shop about pretty much everything (mostly movies, lol), so no regrets on my end👍😁

Great festival...👍
