Personally, I think he's plain ugly. Doesn't make him a bad actor or anything, but I'd much rather watch someone with a more easy-on-the-eyes look on my screen.
I don't know, feels like they missed the mark with James Bond again. 🙄
Hollywood movie news: Orlando Bloom has officially signed with Miramax to take on the role of a young James Bond in an upcoming film exploring the secret agent's college years.
So I finally sat down and watched Lilo & Stitch recently, and honestly? I’m kind of shocked. It was actually... good. 🙂
Look, don't get me wrong—it’s not hitting on the level of Shrek, Ice Age, or those massive recent hits, but it’s way better than I gave it credit for.
I’ve been avoiding this one for a while because I had this weird mental block about it, thinking it was just some sugary, mindless crap meant for toddlers.
But it's not mindless. Yeah, it’s a little sweet, but I could handle it. And Stitch? He’s basically a little gremlin, which I absolutely loved. And full disclosure: I usually can't stand animated kids; they always end up being so incredibly annoying, but little Lilo is alright.
So yeah, I went in expecting basically nothing and ended up getting way more than I bargained for, which is always a win. If you're worried that Stitch is going to be all about "learning important life lessons" and whatever other sappy stuff, thank god, he isn't. Actually, I think he should've been a little more devious. 😉

I mean, you’re looking at the 20th century where you had an absolute powerhouse lineup like Errol Flynn, John Wayne, Rudolph Valentino, Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Veronica Lake, James Mason, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, James Stewart, and Marlon Brando...
And honestly? Actors from the 50s, 60s, maybe even the 70s... they were just way cooler than anyone out there today.
Not that I haven't said it before, but: Jean Reno??? Seriously? He’s French, how would he even end up on a list like this?
But there is one guy who is so damn cool, I can't believe he didn't even get a mention: Jack Nicholson. 👍
Elvis Presley said:(clearly just a bunch of teenage girls voting 🙄 )
Read what I literally just quoted from my screen again:
lonemarlin40 said: The legendary Hollywood icon James Dean was voted the coolest guy ever in a study involving two thousand men conducted by whiskey maker Jack Daniel's.
Sadly, it was only men. And honestly? Doesn't sound like they were all that bright. 🙄
The news just popped up on my screen, and I had to bring it here. I’m making this about movies since most of the names on this list are actors. There's a few musicians in there too, and a tiny bit of sports stuff.
So, get this: legendary Hollywood icon James Dean was just voted the coolest person ever. It came from a study of two thousand guys conducted by Jack Daniel's. That actor who died back in '55 at age 24 actually beat out Elvis Presley, who passed away in '77 at 42. Coming in at third is the late Steve McQueen, and Muhammad Ali grabbed the fourth spot.
The Top 20 Coolest People:
1. James Dean 2. Elvis Presley 3. Steve McQueen 4. Muhammad Ali 5. Robert De Niro 6. Johnny Depp & Bruce Lee 7. Johnny Depp & Bruce Lee 8. David Beckham 9. Al Pacino 10. Justin Timberlake 11. Clint Eastwood 12. Samuel L. Jackson 13. John Lennon 14. Madonna 15. Brad Pitt 16. Jimi Hendrix 17. Frank Sinatra 18. Kurt Cobain 19. Audrey Hepburn 20. George Clooney
(Obviously, it was just a bunch of dudes voting. 🙄 )
By the way, I am officially protesting the fact that Jean Reno isn't on here. He is hands down one of the coolest actors out there.
I'm not even gonna go through the whole list, but David Beckham??? Justin Timberlake??? Those guys are "cool"???? 😲 Someone clearly lost their mind.
Anyway, I'm with you on James Dean, but out of this crowd, Steve McQueen is the coolest to me. And Clint Eastwood is right up there too.
Charlie Chaplin I caught this movie on NBC the other night, but man, the translation was just... weird. I don't even know how they messed it up that badly. I didn't really get a chance to sit down and actually watch the whole thing, but I'm curious—has anyone else seen it? What's the verdict?
Terry Castillo82 said:The movie totally botched the whole explanation—like, who’s whose kid, who got swapped, where those twins suddenly came from, and most importantly, what the mother was even prepping for. The director basically ruined the entire thing by failing to actually explain the core of the story.
Maybe this will actually push me to pick up the book.
Since I read somewhere that a sequel is coming, I decided to check out the first one. And honestly? I have zero clue who is who or why, which twin got switched, or even who that little girl without a finger was. Like, if anyone here has read the book or actually figured out the plot from the movie, please fill me in. I'm dying to know, and I really don't want to sit through the movie all over again just to try and make sense of it.
I’m honestly so stoked they started selling DVDs with those newspaper inserts again. Sometimes I grab one because I know it’s a winner, sometimes I think it might be good, and other times I just pick one on a whim. I picked this one totally at random. And man, was I blown away.
I can’t tell if it’s just because I watched it solo, in total peace, where I could actually sink into it properly. On paper, the subject matter isn't even that exciting—the whole premise feels kind of dull—but the movie is just packed with these tiny little details that make it great. It’s way deeper than it looks at first glance.
Look, I’m not usually a huge fan of Michael Douglas, but he wasn't annoying in this one like he can be. Then you’ve got Robert Downey Jr., who kills it, and Tobey Maguire... honestly, him playing this weird student who lies his way through life while writing killer stories fits him way better than Spider-Man ever did. 😁
If you just watch it on the surface, you're gonna find it boring. If you watch it with a bunch of people hanging out, you'll probably find it boring too.
But the movie isn't boring. It’s really good. You just have to look beneath the surface.
hollowseal33 said:Look Nass, the movie isn't even about Garfield. I refuse to write anything decent about some Garfield flick where John manages to hit on a vet (and make it that obvious from frame one)... it’s just totally against the spirit of Garfield!
I never said the movie was actually *about* Garfield. 🙂 And that vet? She's the polar opposite of the one in the cartoons. This one is all sweet and bubbly, whereas the cartoon one is cold and gross.
What I meant was that ONLY Garfield is actually Garfield. Just him, if you pull him out of the rest of the movie. I was saying the whole plot could've been squeezed into a single cartoon short.
But hey, Garfield is Garfield: "ajde John, just ask her out so she can reject you and we can get back to my life." 😁
It's actually decent. 🙂 Garfield was good, which honestly surprised me since my expectations were pretty much in the gutter. 😁
The whole vibe feels more like a cartoon than anything else. And John? Not really my thing... but I'll give it to Garfield, he was fine. Someone mentioned he doesn't look right, but honestly, he looks exactly how a realistic cat should look if you're going for that style. Otherwise, they’d have had to make him look like Roger Rabbit.
They threw in some classic Garfield moments too, which was the best part:
John spots a mouse (freaking out): "GO! Get them, Garfield!" Garfield (totally deadpan): "Go. Get them, John." 😁
Then there's Nermal. 🙂 Garfield (to Nermal): "Let's play brain surgery. Go grab my tools."
Garfield (to a massive Doberman licking Odie): "Luke, meet Odie. You wanna eat him?"
Garfield himself is solid. The movie could've been better, but whatever, it's okay. Plus, having Bill Murray voicing Garfield works just fine. 🙂
lonemarlin40 said:So, who’s an actor actually capable of pulling off both comedy and drama without breaking a sweat?
Jean Reno. He was killer in "Distant Cousins," but honestly, he's solid in everything. 🙂
Anyway, I didn't vote. Some of the people on this poll just don't vibe with me, so I passed. As far as comedians go, you should probably run a few different polls first and then pit the winners against each other to find the real GOAT.
manwe said:It’s gonna be dubbed, and they’re using Philip Seymour Hoffman for Garfield's voice...
😲 I actually can't believe this. Why? WHY!!!!!! Oh my God, why.... 🙂
What kind of idiots are these!!!! It's not even a movie for kids. At least, I don't think so. Since it's an animation, people assume it's for little ones, right? Wrong.
I barely got over Bill Murray voicing Garfield, but hey, at least he's actually cool and funny and a legendary actor, so whatever. In "Groundhog Day" he was so perfectly ironic that he could pull off being Garfield.
But Philip Seymour Hoffman???!!!! 🙂
Seriously, what happened to the good old days... 🙄
I saw the trailer. It’s hitting theaters soon. I’m actually pretty hyped because I freaking love that goofy cat, but honestly? Part of me knows I’m just gonna end up disappointed. 🙄 Well... damn. If only I was wrong about this one. 😎
Benjamin Gray66 said:goldberry, man, you’re really testing my memory here because it’s been forever since I sat through that one, but didn't Scarlett Johansson wear a red skirt? Or something like that...🙄
Maybe you're thinking of Dallas? Pretty sure she was rocking red in that one. 🙂
