Well, obviously you haven't, considering there isn't even a dedicated Star Wars subforum. 😛 😁
Hey rapidmoose5, I actually thought you’d be the first one stepping up to welcome me as your next sub-mod, but nah, you totally blew it.
You wanna fight with me? YOU WANNA FIGHT WITH ME? As you wish! 😉
So you were watching some Star Wars movies while you were still in the womb? Wow, groundbreaking. I'm sure a ton of people here can claim that.
But when I was still in the womb, Lucas was just getting around to the idea of filming Star Wars 😁. Plus, I've been an absolute die-hard Star Wars fan for my entire 22 years—which, by the way, is more life than you've even seen. Beat that! 😉

That's pure blockbuster material right there.😁
hm... nothing to add here. 😁
By the way, you didn't specify if you're asking this seriously or just messing around?
Because I see people starting to lump "kill the mockingbird" and "Predator" into the same category, and that just doesn't work. And plenty of others too... 🙂 I took this as a joke, and Gregory and the mockingbird are some other kind of heroes entirely—way too far removed from the ones mentioned here.
I'm gonna throw my two cents in too, even though I can't really claim to be an expert since I haven't been hanging out here much lately. So, I'll just stick to the lighter stuff. 🙂

See, I was actually wondering if anyone else felt this way. Everyone's totally obsessed with her, but she just doesn't do anything for me... then I thought, I don't know, maybe it's a girl thing, maybe there's some vibe I'm missing. 🤔 🙂
I mean, I’d take Kian Rivs in The Matrix over Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 2 any day... honestly, you can't even decide which one is more freaking overrated. 🙄

By the way, the guy who voiced that character is actually the same actor who plays David Putty on Seinfeld. (You know, Elaine's boyfriend, the mechanic).
Did they even model the animation after him? Because he looks just like him. 😁
Anyway, let me weigh in on the animation: I absolutely love all three movies. Ice Age is my favorite, but that’s purely subjective. That said, The Emperor is definitely the smartest one when it comes to the humor. I was dying... Kuzco is pure genius.😁

I’ve sat through both the old one and the remake. Honestly? The new one isn't terrible, just kind of mid. But that version with Donald Sutherland? Absolutely chilling. For me, the whole transformation into those aliens felt way more terrifying than the new one with all that tentacle CGI stuff. Plus, the ending in the classic is way darker and more unsettling than the remake, which feels way too polished and sanitized.
Look, I’m no doctor, but I’ve got my doubts about it being a heart issue. It really depends on how she's feeling... Is it more of a burning sensation or just straight-up pain? Could be her lungs or something else entirely. Maybe even the spleen, though that's usually sitting a bit lower down.
So, I found out yesterday that a girl I went to college with has thyroid cancer that’s already metastasized. Even though we haven't talked in forever and I haven't seen her in years, it still hit me really hard. I actually knew her, I knew her husband too, and there was a whole chapter of my life where we were part of the same circle... She’s only 30.
Does anyone know what the actual chances of recovery are or how the treatment process even works? What kind of prognosis are we looking at here? Anyone have any insight?
redowl90 said:Hold up, just a second... I think you're totally missing the point here. You can't compare movies that seemed AMAZING when you were just a kid, because back then, you didn't actually know what a good movie looked like...
Or, take an example from this forum: there's no way you'd dig Blade Runner while you're still a kid... Honestly, even today, I find that movie pretty damn boring...
You've got a point there, but I was more interested in how growing up shifts your whole taste in cinema... and I wasn't talking about stuff you watch when you're ten. Back then, our go-to legends were Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill.😁
But either way, it's more interesting to look at those cases where your opinion flips once you grow up and hit a different stage in life—maybe you finally "get" a movie in a way you couldn't before.
As for Blade Runner... I didn't see it as a little kid, maybe more like 14 or 15... back then it felt way too dark and gloomy... though I'll admit I missed a lot of the nuances then that I catch now. I brought up that specific movie because I used to absolutely hate it, only to end up respecting it immensely later on. Maybe it is slow, but the film has a depth I just couldn't see before.
You probably noticed there are certain movies where, especially once you hit adulthood, your whole perspective just flips on its head.
For me, one of the best examples is "Blade Runner". The first time I saw it, I was just a kid and I absolutely hated it. Thought it was too dark and honestly kind of stupid. I used to wonder why my older brother was even obsessed with keeping that VHS tape around. Thank God for that. Once I grew up, I decided to give it another shot... and wow, total shocker! I ended up loving it! Suddenly, I couldn't wrap my head around why I thought it sucked before, because the movie is pure genius. That’s how I realized how much I'd misjudged it back in the day.
It's one of those rare cases where a movie went from bad to good for me. More often than not, it’s the opposite—stuff I loved when I was younger (like old comedies, for instance) ends up being total shit later on. I'm curious, do you guys have any examples like this? Movies you haven't touched in ages, but when you finally rewatched them, your opinion did a complete 180?
Melissa Moore32 said:You might as well have titled this thread "How to be a total tool."😁
You really thought it wasn't obvious?😁 Like you were just analyzing her alone. But whatever, there are plenty of other people just like that, not even gonna list them all. Anyway, you've got the point!😉
p.s. Same goes for those people who claim they don't wear jeans because "only hicks wear denim." Total snobs. You gotta have some of that in the film world too.😁 😉
