Honestly, I’m having a really hard time picturing Walker going bald—especially if he's playing some kind of hitman. 🤷

So what, he should just stop making these kinds of movies just because some people aren't fans? 🤣

And let's be real, he was basically built for these roles—this is where he shines best. I mean, I'll always happily sit down for his new flick. 🙂

I’ve been watching stuff like that—you know, Payback with Mel Gibson—and honestly, I don't even care if they keep pushing for an adaptation of that novel. At the end of the day, any new Statham movie is a win in my book. 🙂

It’s kinda weird that nobody has dropped an IMDb link yet. Anyway, here is that song from the trailer.

This feels lightyears away from Twilight, which actually makes it look pretty interesting to me—honestly, I'd much rather have this than some tired remake or a massive "spectacle" like Hunger Games.

Robert Hiltzik wrote the script and directed Sleepaway Camp (1983).
At first glance, it’s just your typical 80s slasher—you know, it’s got all the essentials from back then, like blood and boobs. But, I guess there’s actually something more going on here than just your standard slasher flick... you'd probably have to watch it to really get what I mean, especially if you're into this subgenre. Nowadays, Sleepaway Camp is a total cult classic, though maybe it isn't quite as massive as Halloween, Friday the 13th, or A Nightmare on Elm Street. I think that's because it feels a bit more grounded—the killer isn't some unstoppable freak like Jason—and honestly, people mostly remember it for that wild, disturbing ending.

Felissa Rose stars in the original, playing the quiet, withdrawn Angela, while Jonathan Tiersten plays her brother Ricky. In the sequels (the second and third ones), Angela is played by Pamela Springsteen (yeah, Bruce Springsteen's sister). Those sequels lean way more into horror-comedy territory, but personally, I still found them pretty fun since they crank up the gore and the nudity, plus they've got those cheesy killer one-liners before the kill. What gets really confusing about this whole franchise, though, is the sequels. See, after Hiltzik's original, Michael A. Simpson took over directing for Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988) and Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland (1989). Then, back in 1992, Jim Markovic started filming the third sequel called Sleepaway Camp IV: The Survivor, but the production company went bankrupt right then, so filming just... stopped. They had about 34 minutes shot, and it sat around until this year when it finally got a direct-to-DVD release. Before that, back in 2002, those 34 minutes popped up in the Sleepaway Camp Survival kit box set, but it didn't really mean much at the time, just a little extra footage. The part that’s actually super weird? Well, The Survivor was released *after* Hiltzik's follow-up Return to Sleepaway Camp (2008) and they still labeled it as the fourth movie in the SC franchise. So, don't even bother stressing over watching SC IV: The Survivor because it's not even really considered an official movie. It’s basically just those 34 minutes mashed together with about 36 minutes of clips from the first three movies—so it's just a 70-minute remix of the previous stuff with a tiny bit of new story thrown in.

The original quadrology (for now)

All in all, the Sleepaway Camp franchise is a good time if you're into slashers. You'll probably dig the first one, and the sequels are just a blast. Also, if the rumors are true, Hiltzik is working on Sleepaway Camp reunion which should be coming out sometime next year, and of course, Felissa Rose and Jonathan Tiersten are supposed to be in it.

The first three films with subtitles are on YouTube: Sleepaway Camp (1983), Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988), and Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland (1989). The fourth one without subs: Return to Sleepaway Camp (2008).

So, I finally sat down to watch Return to Sleepaway Camp (2008), and man... where do I even start? It’s one of those movies that makes you wonder if the people behind it actually watched the original or if they just read a summary on Wikipedia or something. I mean, I guess I shouldn't be surprised, right? Everything feels a little bit off—just slightly out of sync with what made the first one work. It tries to tap into that nostalgia for the original Sleepaway Camp, but instead of feeling like a tribute, it kind of feels like a cheap imitation. Like, maybe it was trying to capture that specific vibe, but it just ends up feeling hollow. I don't know, maybe it's just me being cynical, but the whole thing felt a bit disjointed. The pacing is weird—it drags in some spots and then rushes through things that actually mattered—and honestly, it just lacks that certain spark. And don't even get me started on the characters. They aren't exactly deep, are they? Most of them feel like cardboard cutouts just moving from point A to point B so the plot can happen. It’s frustrating because there's potential there, I really think so, but it just doesn't land. It’s just... meh. Not exactly a masterpiece, that's for sure. Just a bit of a bummer, really.

Maybe some spoilers...

It’s been way too long since I sat down to revisit the original trilogy, so I figured—I don't know, maybe it was just time—to finally dive into the third one. So, I was thinking about Sleepaway Camp again—yeah, I know, I can’t let it go—and man, that ending still gets me. It’s just one of those movies that stays in your brain, you know? Like, you think you’re watching a standard slasher flick, all the usual tropes and stuff, but then it hits you with that twist. It's wild. I guess I just love how it messes with your head right when you think you've got the whole thing figured out. Maybe it's just me being weird, but there's something about that specific kind of shock value that works so much better than the modern stuff we see now. Just... yeah. Anyway, what do you guys think? Is it a classic or am I just overthinking it? I've been meaning to sit down and binge this series for the longest time now. Honestly, I’m a huge fan of the first movie—it’s basically a total must-see if you're into slashers, so if that's your thing and you haven't checked it out yet, I'd definitely recommend it. I actually pretty much dig the sequels too, mostly because they're just fun... plus you get Angela and her whole weird camp rules and that specific little code she follows when she's out for blood—kind of reminds me of Dexter, I guess. 😁 I mean, come on—those old classics actually had guts, blood, and actual stakes... plus a killer soundtrack. This? This is just more proof that slashers totally went downhill after the 80s.

You can totally tell they were trying to chase that old-school 80s vibe from the first movie—you know, like that kitchen kill scene, bringing back three of the original cast members, all those similar camera angles and setups... it was clearly an attempt to recapture the magic. Did it actually work? Honestly, not really. I mean, maybe a few things clicked well enough to keep the whole thing from being a total disaster—like that final scene, for example—but overall? Not so much. The acting is just plain bad, super hard to believe, and the soundtrack is all over the place. The music hits at these weird moments when you don't even need a creepy atmosphere, and then when it *is* supposed to be scary, the music isn't even remotely creepy. That's why the intro... song What the hell?

What Hiltzik did with Angela in the first SP felt like he was trying to pull the exact same stunt here with Alan. I mean, everything was so painfully obvious that you could basically name the killer before the opening credits even finished—but damn, that ending totally flipped every single theory on its head. So, I guess that makes it feel different from the first SP, even if it still follows that same vibe. Honestly, Alan is just getting on my nerves at this point. Like, he’s the main guy, everything revolves around him, and yet he’s just... there. And don't even get me started on the jokes. They were so bad, just super cheesy, cringey dialogue everywhere. Plus, can we talk about how Alan doesn't change his shirt once during the entire movie? Even when it looks absolutely filthy, he’s wearing the same thing. It’s weird. I don't know what else to say... if there had been any actual boobs in this movie, I might've given it a better rating. Seriously. In the previous three films, they were everywhere, but here? Nothing. If they had just thrown in one or two scenes, I'd be more into it. This is honestly miles away from your average slasher where the rule is: Blood and boobs.Wait, so this is supposed to be a comedy-horror? I don't know about that—I really wouldn't say so. It’s missing those funny bits you actually got in the last two sequels, which is kind of why they even fall into that subgenre in the first place... but for RtSC? Yeah, I wouldn't call it that.

Man, this movie was pretty rough. It’s definitely below average, honestly—but I guess those kill scenes and the ending kind of pull it up just enough to make it feel like a legitimate third entry in the SP series. I don't get what Hiltzik was even doing sitting on this for so long, finally dropping it in 2008 when apparently the whole thing was wrapped up back in 2006. Wikipedia claims it was some hold-up with the CGI effects, but I don't see anything particularly impressive about the CGI here... though whatever, that's probably not even the main issue. Also, that after-credits scene with Angela? Way too intense. 😁

I mean, I guess Hiltzik works at...So, I was just thinking about that whole Sleepaway Camp reunion thing... honestly, it’s kind of wild how much time passes, right? I guess I was looking back at some old stuff and it just hit me. Maybe I'm just getting old or whatever, but man, some things just stick with you. Anyway, what do you guys think about the idea of everyone getting back together for a reunion like that? Is it actually cool or just super awkward? I don't know, I feel like half the people probably wouldn't even show up anyway. Just my two cents, I guess.I mean, I guess we could start talking about which ones should actually hit theaters sometime next year... maybe? Just some random thoughts, I suppose. 🙂

Laura Palmer25 said:Throw The Wraith onto that list. It's pretty similar to The Car, but actually worth a watch. 👍

So, I watched The Wraith a few months back and... yeah, I wasn't really feeling it. It’s just your typical, run-of-the-mill 80s teen action "horror" movie—you know the type. I guess the one bright spot might've been young Sheen, but honestly? The movie is just bad. ☕

Rebecca Green46 I don't even know where to start with this one—it’s just... wow. I guess I'll try to get my thoughts down before I lose my cool completely. Anyway, here goes nothing.
Maximum Overdrive is just such a garbage movie—it’s not even one of those "so bad it's good" kind of flicks, you know? It's just... bad. I guess there's no saving it. It’s honestly so bad that it’s actually kind of fun—if that makes any sense? I mean, you know that feeling where a movie is just such a disaster that you can't look away... it's like watching a car crash in slow motion, but you're sitting there with popcorn, just kind of vibing with the chaos. It’s a whole mood, I guess.I mean, look, Stephen King directed it himself—so, I guess that’s probably why it’s such a mess. Just my two cents, but yeah... maybe that's the issue right there. 😁

I know, I know—no matter what, I'm gonna watch it. Maybe it’ll end up being one of those guilty pleasures, I guess. 🙂

If we’re gonna talk about road movies, haunted cars, or killer trucks—man, there are hundreds of them out there... but honestly? Very few of them actually suck less than the rest.

Duel I've had this disc sitting around for ages—honestly, I haven't even gotten around to watching it yet—but I originally grabbed it specifically because it's Spielberg's debut. Like, realistically, it's his first actual movie, since before that it was just short films and some random episodes or whatever. I mean, there’s been so much hype surrounding it and the subject matter itself is just... yeah. Anyway, I definitely need to sit down and finally watch it sometime soon. 🙂

Anyway... Joy Ride Man, the first one was actually incredible—I haven't quite gotten around to finishing the sequel yet, since I kind of bailed halfway through, but... I guess I'll eventually get back to it. I’d also definitely have to throw Carpenter's into the mix. Christine That's an awesome movie—it’s got such a similar vibe to the one being mentioned here, I guess... maybe even more so. The Car.

So, I just stumbled upon some talk here about how the guy in Duel is basically some kind of maniac—which, yeah, I guess makes sense—but if you're looking for something that isn't exactly the same but still hits those same weirdly specific notes... maybe there's another movie out there that fits that vibe. The HitcherYeah, obviously from 1986—it’s a bit different, you know? The maniac isn't quite as mysterious as he could be, but I guess his intentions are exactly the same, if you ask me. Anyone who’s actually seen it will know what I mean... if you haven't, I'd highly recommend checking it out.

So, right now, out of all those road horror movies at my peak, I've got... Duel, The Car i Maximum Overdrive.

I'll write something up once I've had a chance to watch it. 👋

Edward Allen36 said:I mean, I kind of have this nagging feeling it might end up being something like Paranormal Activity.

God forbid, 😁

though I guess they could just keep pumping out sequels forever—you know, just slightly tweaking things here and there... like finding some random VHS tapes and shoving in new horror stories, which is basically what it looks like they're doing with this sequel, if I'm reading the situation right. ☕
V/H/S 2 (2013) in Movies ·
Cool. 🙂 I actually dug V/H/S, it was pretty good

I just really hope they don't go overboard with the sequels—I mean, this doesn't feel like the kind of horror concept that can sustain more than maybe two or three installments before it gets stale. Who knows what they're thinking, I guess.

Also, I'm really hoping they actually explain that final scene from V/H/S.
The Blair Witch Project in Movies ·
The second one isn't really anything special, mostly because they ditched that whole found footage vibe from the first movie—which was cool, I guess—but it still felt okay somehow. Not exactly terrifying, though.
Man, I am so over Scary Movie 5—it’s got like three or four "big name" actors in it, but then you’ve got Charlie Sheen showing up in some random footage that probably won't even last two minutes. 😢

And honestly? I’m really not feeling this whole vibe where the entire movie just tries to parody Paranormal Activity. I mean, sure, you should poke fun at stuff, but having the whole plot take place in one house... it just doesn't work. It needs way more variety and actual spoofs of different horror flicks.

We waited forever for this fifth installment, and I was actually hoping we'd see some faces from the older movies, like Marlon Wayans or Anna Faris... but instead, it feels like we're just getting two identical parodies next year.

Look, I’m not saying Scary Movie 5 isn't going to be funny or that it's gonna be total garbage, but you guys know deep down it’s just not quite hitting the mark, and there's definitely a sense of disappointment there. ☕

IMDb Official Trailer

So, since the first one—aka The Collector—wrapped up, everyone was pretty much waiting for the sequel. I actually really dug The Collector, mostly because the plot and the pacing were solid, but also because those traps were just brutal, you know? The gore and the whole creepy atmosphere... it just worked. Well, turns out Marcus Dunstan, who directed the first flick (which was his directorial debut, by the way), is coming back with even more insane traps, more blood, and way more carnage in this follow-up. Huge respect to Marcus for nailing the first movie, especially considering he was just starting out as a director... though, I guess he’s clearly got plenty of inspiration under his belt since he wrote Saw IV,V,VI and VII. So yeah, that's where he's getting his ideas from.

Is Marcus trying to pull a Saw and turn this into a massive franchise? Honestly, I have no clue. But if they announce a third one, there's a pretty good chance we'll see a whole series. The Collection hit theaters here in the States on November 30th, and I'm not totally sure when it'll show up in our local theaters, but there's already a camrip floating around on torrent sites while everyone waits for a decent xvid/dvdrip to drop.

Anyway, long story short, I'm stoked for this.

At first glance, this trailer looks freaking awesome—mostly because of Smith's narration, the soundtrack, the VFX, and honestly, just the storyline itself seems pretty solid. But hey, I don't want to get ahead of myself, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it actually turns out...
