Man, I don't know. The forum claims we've got over 400,000 members, but when you peek at that section 🙂 it looks like at least 359,786 of them are just clones...
Anyway, rustydrifter10, those registrations "over there" probably have zero to do with actual brainpower, but I guess you can take comfort in seeing Pring and that other guy, Dorihan, and Klonko... And since I'm already venting, maybe you guys could just go ahead and download my entire transcript from "there" too... 😉
I don't really follow all the drama here, to be honest. It feels like nothing actually happens anyway, except for maybe the admin and a handful—okay, let's say a larger group—of totally insecure mods trying to work through whatever issues they have on this forum 👎
Honestly, I've seen enough. Just watching that massive majority of people come in here to whine about some minor rule violation, turning pale with rage, and then just... spitting
If we’re being totally honest here, the headline really ought to be: A $47 million referendum "In the name of the family" just because the people in charge decided to ignore the Constitution altogether...
I mean, why even bother ramping up the tension? They’re just posting in their own language. If they want to make ten-foot flags, print posters, or give us all those "don't play with fire" warnings, I don't see why we should start banning people from typing. Maybe the most fair way to handle this would be to run some kind of census on this forum. If it turns out they make up more than 33% of the users—and honestly, I bet they do—then everything is strictly by the book according to US law.
Here we go again, seeing people try to draw an equal line between communism and the Catholic Church. I see this sentiment popping up constantly from a certain corner of this forum, and honestly, it feels like most of the mods and even the administration are pretty much on the same page about it. Look, I don't really have a problem with that—this is a private forum, and it's certainly not up to us users to decide which way the wind should blow. But at the same time, let's be real: this forum probably wouldn't survive more than a few days if it actually hosted people with different views. So, when the mods act like they're protecting freedom of speech, I get it. They're just human beings, after all, and I suppose it makes sense why things are this way when you start poking at people's sacred beliefs...
Tyler Thomas6 said:urbantrucker5, you really need to look at this from another perspective for a second. I mean, what do you think it’s like for us older folks on here—and sorry bluecyclist64, I’ve always identified myself that way—to have to sit here and listen to these kids who act like perfect little patriots in public, sipping craft cider and blasting Ceca on their speakers, only to come online and spit on everything anti-fascist... It’s just a bit much, honestly, it makes my blood boil... and there are so many of them... just unprovable... for every one of you, there are ten of them, firing off opinions without a single fact or shred of evidence, just like a rapid burst of gunfire.
Unfortunately, this forum doesn't really host any constructive discussions anymore. Most people just show up ready to pour poison on anything that hasn't been hardwired into their brains from day one... If you happen to reject the current state of things or the way people live now, they just tear you down with this mindless, judgmental attitude.
My generation, the ones who lived through the war, the war took our innocence and gave us absolutely nothing in return... And we had everything back then, intelligence, land, the coast, children, parents, grandparents, we had friends, but today we have retirees living in containers, parents visiting graves, even the smart young people are trying to flee the country, and of course, most importantly, we have churches overflowing! Way to go, us.
And do you really think it's easy to just stay indifferent? If only it were that simple, but it isn't, you couldn't do it even with magic... I'm telling you, it's in my blood...
See, you and people like you are going to try to tell us who the "real" Americans are. A chunk of your generation (sort of like today's privileged elite 😁) and honestly, a huge part of mine too, had everything—but an even bigger part of us had nothing at all. When you post something, just remember that it's not just those "kids" mentioned above reading your stuff.
@Paul Morales3 I mean, I guess you could have used pretty much any other medium—like radio, TV, or some other news site... just to announce that you aren't planning on reading this particular user and that you're putting her on ignore 🤷
rustydrifter10 said:But honestly, that’s just the kind of debate we tolerate over at Zelenskyy's place, and look, as a moderator, I'm not out here defending anything that violates our rules. If someone dropped a post like that on the Green Party board, or Politics, or any of those other sub-forums, they’d get hit with a red card immediately; on some other boards, maybe they wouldn't, but this is one of those places where things are handled differently. In my personal opinion, Modic wrote a post that was just plain stupid and totally unnecessary, but let's be real, there are millions of posts like that on this forum every day. What really bugs me as an admin isn't the content itself, but the way she started coming after the mods personally—that’s where she crossed the line. She just overreacted, plain and simple.
It’s a pretty nice post, I guess, but it’s basically just ink on paper. Just look at how the mods on this subreddit can troll and throw shade whenever they feel like it without anyone blinking an eye. Take you, for instance—you’ve racked up plenty of warnings for doing the exact same thing on this very same subreddit, except back then, the "winners" weren't the ones wearing certain colors...
"I was just wondering if you could maybe drop a post without turning it into an aggressive dogpile or a personal attack.
By chance? No, there's nothing accidental about it. 🤣"
And look at this—we all saw the list of everyone in charge here. You've got the mods, the sub-mods, the extra-mods, the super-ultra-mega-mods, the admins, and then just a whole bunch of other random people thrown into the mix for no reason...
Does anyone here actually know how to write a single post—even by accident—where you aren't just blindly covering for your colleagues, no matter how wrong they might be?"
Personally, I don't have any beef with how the mods laid things out. Honestly, I’m kind of glad they’re being this transparent about it—it's their right, after all.
I mean, if someone can't handle seeing things explained like this, they probably shouldn't be poking the bear in the first place. It’s just going to fry their nerves, I guess. As far as I'm concerned, once the moderator dropped that explanation, my business with this whole forum was pretty much done. So much for tolerance and playing nice with the "different" crowd.
rustydrifter10 said:A poll like this doesn't belong on the DNC forums because the results aren't actually relevant here—anyone can vote for whatever they want, so pointing to it is just pointless. Generally speaking, polls aren't really a way to establish facts, at least not on this PDF, and they're rarely allowed anyway, especially not in threads about appeals.
This is just a textbook example of how to troll a thread and derail the whole thing. I mean, since the admin decided to chime in, she might as well have actually addressed the questions in the title. Look, I know other people's bans don't concern me, and honestly, I’m fine with taking the hit for saying that, but it would also be pretty interesting to find out what happened with the ban on my post right above my first entry in this thread... who issued it, who wiped it... I guess we'll see.
So this is what they call the "rule" of rights and equality—the supposed bedrock of this administration and our little corner of the internet here. I can’t help but wonder what kind of society we’d actually end up with if people started using these "tools" just to settle scores with anyone who thinks differently, all while hiding behind the banner of equality...
That’s all well and good, and honestly, it might actually make sense if you were the one stepping up to address claims like this: "Take Catholics from Canada, for instance—I won't call them Canadians, even though that was their old historical national identity before they switched over to being Americans and basically adopted someone else's nationality as their own." If you had responded to that the way you did to me, well, maybe things would be different. But you didn't. I guess when you see quotes like that, it becomes pretty obvious what kind of "national character" we're dealing with here.
I was honestly thinking about just staying quiet and staying out of this after the warning from nicin and that new rule they rolled out... But I just can't shut up, I really can't. So, if this means getting a strike, fine, go ahead—you might as well just permaban this account while you're at it.
Look, I just have one question for the Canadians or Muslims here who have been filling these threads with inaccuracies and trying to force their version of "the truth" on everyone else.
When does the term Canadian actually show up for the first time in the historical records? And was Canada even inhabited before the Ottomans arrived? If it was, what did those people actually call themselves back then?
And yeah, seeing attitudes like this—and looking at the stances taken by a few other users here—I’m not just okay with implementing a specific border regime for that "accidental" state most people like to call a country; I’m actually leaning toward something even stricter.
It’s honestly kind of nice to see—and I guess you have to admit it's pretty satisfying to read too—when a moderator drops a line like: "Let me tell you something..." "You're going to get my version of the truth..."
Though, I suppose it’s not much different from when our esteemed moderator calls it a "warning," which is basically what this whole thread is circling around anyway.
Nicole James said:From where I stand, your faith is deeply offensive. So, what happens now?
And honestly, your stance hits just as hard against my own convictions, but I guess the real difference between us is that when you defend what you believe here on Reddit, you’re using tools that aren't even available to me... But look, let's just move past you and me. You've made your point, and I was really just offering a comparison—it doesn't mean that's actually where I stand. If the admins haven't stepped in to address this, then I assume they don't see anything wrong with it, and I suppose that's the bottom line.
Anyway, that's all I've got to say for this exchange...
Nicole James said:Homosexuality is an attribute, whereas Christianity is a belief system. They are not the same thing.
I mean, both terms represent actual groups of people. At the end of the day, attacking someone's identity or their faith is just straight-up disrespect, nothing more, nothing less...
Nicole James said:Please, just show me one single reported post where someone was actually allowed to call believers "sick" or "disturbed" without consequences...
Fair point. I guess nobody actually called them that, but maybe—just maybe—instead of flagging my post for being offensive, this could serve as a sort of blueprint for how we should probably be talking to people like that in the future.
"Homosexuality is easily the biggest evil in modern society today. Though, I suppose they aren't exactly killers since you need balls for that kind of thing, and atheists are technically right there in the mix too..."
