What movies are on your wishlist? in Movies ·
Nah, that runtime includes the extras. Just an FYI, I actually have—well, I used to have—the 190-minute TV cut. I just need to check if I gave it away to someone, since I was never really a huge fan of this movie anyway.

Actually, it’s somewhat true, but just not in the way you described it.

😳

Lynch never had a hand in any other version of Dune (referring to both the 177 and 189-minute versions).

😁

So, what is really going on here?

The 177-minute version and the 189-minute version are essentially the exact same movie; the only difference is that the 189-minute cut was aired on TV as a two-part miniseries.

Later, that 189-minute version was ported to DVD and trimmed down into the 177-minute version—which is the standard theatrical release you usually find—though depending on the distributor, it might occasionally still be released as a two-part miniseries (which is quite rare).

The only things removed from the 177-minute version are the flashback scenes (basically the start of the second episode which briefly recaps the first), a duplicate intro, and a duplicate credit sequence. Everything else was simply stitched together into a single film without interruptions.

Depending on who publishes the DVD, you might get the 177-minute film or the 189-minute miniseries, but there isn't a single scene in the 189-minute version that isn't also present in the 177-minute one.

In other words, there is no longer version on the market that exceeds the 177/189-minute runtime.

There you have it.

😳😁

P.S.
When you download movies online, they might be split across two discs. That absolutely does not mean you've found the miniseries; it most likely means the popular film version has been split up for easier uploading (it could even be spread across five discs, depending on whoever is doing the upload).

EDIT: The most famous extended version found on two DVDs is definitely not the miniseries. One disc holds the original 137-minute version, while the second disc contains the 177-minute extended version.

This is that famous 190-minute version (the miniseries).

with all due respect, cut the crap 🙂
there is a double extended edition featuring both versions of the film

And yeah, that 190-minute one is the TV cut, so it exists. As for a 4+ hour version, that was supposed to be a fourth version.

Karen Smith9 said:As far as official releases go, there's really only one slightly longer cut—about 40 minutes extra—and honestly, Lynch never had a hand in any other version of Dune.

There's also a third version that's 190 minutes long spread across 2 DVDs😉
Hugo Weaving playing Red Skull? Wow. 😲
Even though I'm more of a Thor fan, I'm actually looking forward to 🙂

The Asylum?! Well, now I definitely HAVE to see it. 😂
Even trashy movies look like masterpieces compared to anything from Asylum's library. 🎉

He didn't show up in Hulk, he showed up to General Ross to tell him they were putting a team together. Actually, if you look at it this way, it implies that the events of "The Incredible Hulk" are happening after the other movies, since Stark isn't officially part of the Avengers yet back in "Iron Man 2." Honestly, I love how they weave these stories together. It really gives you that feeling that this whole cinematic universe is one massive, interconnected web... it's just brilliant...

He didn't even say he was approaching Banner/Hulk, just that he appeared in that movie.
As for the continuity issues, the order characters join the Avengers is totally irrelevant.

So, who exactly is the outsider in this group? 😁

Listen, sure, it's obvious they all exist in the same comic book universe, but as a movie? Iron Man felt like a mashup of Transformers and James Bond. That's where I struggle—gods and magic just don't quite mesh with that vibe.

Remember that movie *The Incredible Hulk Returns* where Thor showed up? Maybe he didn't fit in there either? Sorry, but he fit perfectly.
Think this one will fit? I have my doubts.

And just because you personally don't like the "idea," that's just a matter of taste. Nothing more. 🙂

I mean, sure, it works in a comic book—paper can handle just about anything you throw at it—but realistically? It’s a total mismatch.
It’s going to be a complete mess.

Doesn't matter when we're talking fiction. If it worked in the comics, it'll work on screen (assuming they don't butcher Thor). Besides, I don't see why the God of Thunder and his hammer couldn't fit right into the Avengers. Kenneth Branagh is directing, so I doubt it'll be total garbage.

If Storm from the X-Men can manipulate the weather and summon storms, then I don't see why Thor can't swallow lightning and spit it back out. At the end of the day, what Storm does and what Thor does is basically the same thing—it's all just power from Mjolnir. The only catch is that Mjolnir only grants that strength to one specific worthy person (in this case, Dr. Donald Blake).

And regarding pure magic, separate from all this, Doctor Strange fits perfectly fine into the Marvel Universe.😉

The cast is absolutely top-tier—serious A-listers here—but the plot just felt a bit messy, and honestly, there was way too much action for my taste. It’s that typical blockbuster vibe, I guess, but for me, the concept behind Iron Man felt much more tightly executed 😢

On the flip side, her character was such a breath of fresh air! In my opinion, they really should have given her a much bigger role 😁 like, maybe having her suit up in a female version of the armor 😂 now that would have been incredibly cool 😍

She’s basically just a spin-off character here to set the stage for the Avengers, where she really deserves more screen time.
Honestly, I didn't expect them to give her this much spotlight in this movie.

What a disaster. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen something this bad—wooden acting, zero chemistry, a messy plot, terrible score, and just pure melodrama everywhere. A total mess. It's a shame because the concept actually had legs, but the execution was just lazy. Between three jump scares that actually got me and the fact that Ethan Hawke (I mean, he looks like he's perpetually constipated, though he's still easy on the eyes) carried most of the weight, I'm giving it a 2/10.

😂🤣
Luckily, I wasn't planning on seeing it anyway.
That was basically my face while watching Days of Night.
At least Perfect Creature wasn't half bad.

Betty Taylor26 said:They really ought to film Iron Man and Hulk together again. We all know how it ends—Stark shows up at the end of Hulk just to grill that one general about something.

That’s really just setting the stage for Ultimate Avengers.
At the end of Iron Man, S.H.I.E.L.D. brings Stark into the fold. Then in the Hulk intro, you see Captain America's shield under the ice (since he went MIA in WWII), and by the end of Hulk, Stark is trying to recruit Banner for the Avengers, which Cap is supposed to lead. 😉
Obviously, they're missing a few people, like Thor, who's currently in the works—can't wait. 😈

She just didn't really do it for me. 🤷

And look, we all know sequels to any big hit usually end up being worse, but I'm not going to overthink it—I'll just watch it...😉

That's not true; there are exceptions (The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, Terminator 2...) 😛

If you're rocking an LCD or plasma with at least 720p resolution, then sure.
If not, don't even bother wasting your time. You could try DivX, but if you're still using an old CRT, you're better off just sticking to a DVD player.
If you actually have an LCD or plasma capable of playing this stuff, you’ll need a decent computer—think dual-core at minimum—and a slightly better graphics card with a DVI or, ideally, an HDMI port. If your card only has DVI, you'll need to grab a DVI-to-HDMI cable, making sure it's long enough to reach from your PC to the TV.

On the flip side, there are little gadgets like this one http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=735 where you can just plug in an external hard drive and watch everything through a tiny device connected via HDMI. In that scenario, you don't even need a computer to handle the playback.
