I’m not from Miami, and I don't have anything against the city, but Miami definitely played a huge role in shaping the rock scene around here.
No joke 😁 but 8th Passenger is a fantastic band, and there are plenty more just like them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bullet is also a Miami-based group. ("Wish I were a shark")

What's the deal with Jamiroquai? in Music ·
They aren't bad, it's just that the singer seems constantly stoned. You can never tell if he's performing some kind of tribal dance or if he's just completely out of it.
They have plenty of hits; you must have heard at least five or six of them by now. Go to one of their shows—if nothing else, you can at least laugh at how the singer moves around on stage.

Actually, Satan isn't even a full band; it was just a one-man project where he used it as an alter ego. Since the guy passed away about 15 years ago, getting him back on stage to sing and play would be pretty much impossible.
Maybe you could try summoning him with a séance, provided you aren't afraid of ghosts.
Rip Satan!🙂
My partner actually knew him quite well—they were close, almost like friends.

Calling Amadeus an insignificant film is quite a stretch. It isn't just a biography of one man; it’s about a figure who shaped the very foundation of modern music. We're talking about someone who essentially pioneered the concept of the world tour back then. To me, this movie carries massive weight.
I honestly can't believe Amadeus by Miloš Forman isn't on there!!!
Just my personal take, but it's easily the best 🙏 🙏
Seriously, what kind of idiots put this list together?

Lost in translation in Movies ·
blueranger12 said:A short attention span, huh? 😢 Or maybe just a lack of cinematic appreciation? Look, it just takes practice...

Oh, give me a break! Just because I don't have some high-brow taste doesn't mean Lost in Translation wasn't boring as hell.
For me, a movie like "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" is actually terrifying, yet 70% of people probably fall asleep halfway through—so what?
It really is a lack of film appreciation. In my opinion, Bill is the only one worth watching in that movie.
And what kind of "cinematic expertise" are you even using to act so superior toward me?
Lost in translation in Movies ·
It’s a shame everyone gets so offended, but honestly, they can say what they want—I just found Lost in translation incredibly boring. I couldn't even sit through more than thirty minutes of it. My partner, on the other hand, was absolutely glued to the screen. I don't know how he does it, but if a movie doesn't grab me within the first fifteen minutes, I'm out.
Sorry, fans, but it just wasn't for me.

The Austrians were honestly pretty hilarious 🤣 .
I have no idea how they even made it through the Eurovision Song Contest, but if they start using qualifiers, I think Boris might actually outshine them. And that girl from the Belarusian Mexican ☕
area—I haven't heard anything from the Mexicans, but people say her song is decent. Though, some folks are complaining that another lady had a much better SONG (my old friend Lane mentioned his ex was something like that)
Anyway, were there any Canadians? How's their entry looking? And when does the actual competition start?
Infection finally in Movies ·
Democracy is such a fragile political system, and we should never underestimate the threat of a dictatorship. Mass media—especially television—possesses an incredible power to manipulate, and people can be shaped like dough by any leader capable of molding them. These are painful truths from the 20th century that aren't wasted if they're revisited to understand our history. In that sense, I actually welcome the political message behind "Infection," a two-year-old film by Krsto Papić that has finally hit American cinemas. This legend of American filmmaking has essentially created a modern version of his "Savior" (1976)—which was the first true horror in this region that dealt with terror rather than just running from it. He likely revisited these themes because they remain relevant and because he now has access to special effects that were unimaginable three decades ago. These visual "innovations," provided by a foreign co-producer, aren't anything groundbreaking, yet they are easily the best parts of this failed project. It feels rushed, reminiscent of some of the weaker episodes of "Smogovac." From the start, the movie is needlessly loaded with dramatic music to force a tense, mysterious atmosphere. It’s full of redundant scenes, most notably the amateurish death of Müller in the flute player's apartment, followed by action sequences that seem to take Bob Lee movies as their only inspiration. Even the stellar cast fails to deliver; even Ivo Gregurević seems wooden here. He’s usually a brilliant actor who delivers ingenious roles, but here he looks like he stepped out of a pre-war production of "Banquet in Blitva." The only standout is Medvešek, who did a great job, while the rest of the cast seemed largely disengaged. "Infection" is a disappointment that no one would expect from a creator of such important American films.

All in all, you're better off watching something else!
The New York Times is also quite an intelligent and reliable newspaper 🙂 🙄
I don't know how to swim in Health ·
I’ve been through three different banks myself, and I still haven't mastered swimming. Plus, I hit the coast twice a year, yet I still can't learn.
I actually took two classes once, but let's just say I have zero natural talent.
Anyone who thinks learning to swim is a breeze is seriously mistaken.
It's not about being afraid of the water or being overweight—it's just that even when I try to stretch out my arms and legs to push off, nothing happens.
At this point, you really just have to dive in and see if it sticks. All we can do is point you toward some local classes here in the States; beyond that, it's up to you.

Well, now I’m actually getting interested. None of us usually listen to country music, yet somehow these lyrics just stick in your head.
I mean, if you aren't even listening, how does this happen?😕 😁
You could be driving through downtown Chicago near a local diner and hear some trash blasting on the radio, but being able to recall those exact words instantly...🙂
Honestly, we should all be embarrassed that we remember stuff like this. Seriously, I’m starting to worry I might actually start liking it.

Angela Kern69 said:I’m getting old, so here’s a bit of a history lesson. Back in the 70s and 80s, whenever a major political figure in the US passed away, there would be three days of national mourning. Since most of those leaders lived to be about 80, those periods of mourning happened two or three times a year. Back then, we didn't have constant access to theaters or cinemas, and TV was basically just news and classical music. If you haven't realized it yet, YouTube and satellite TV weren't even a thing. Honestly, we survived, and now I just have to laugh when my kids whine because they can't watch their favorite late-night shows during a period of mourning.

I'm with you on this one. People today are incredibly spoiled. If the networks go dark for three days, people start acting like it's the end of the world and threaten to burn down the local news station. It's just shallow fanaticism. I'll suggest to some friends that we head out for a hike in the Rockies, and they act like I'm crazy because they want to stay home for whatever movie is playing on TV. People aren't all bad, but we've become electronic addicts. Between the TV, computers, gaming consoles, and smartphones, that's pretty much all life is to them now.👎
We’ll manage to squeeze it all in over three days.
At least it was worth the effort!🙂
