Sandra Bullock was truly, truly phenomenal in this role—you have to hand it to her... The film shows real promise, starting off with such a strong momentum, though I'll admit it loses a bit of its edge and feels somewhat flat as it goes on, but all things considered, I enjoyed it quite a bit and think it's certainly worth a watch. I particularly appreciated how they handled the ending... 7/10

Nothing to write home about, really... it starts off on a strange note, and there's one stretch in the middle that actually holds my interest, but then the narrative just completely loses its way toward the end, becoming disjointed and frankly quite tedious, so I'd say 4/10.

As for the escape itself, the way it was depicted in the movie matched exactly how I had pictured it while digging through old news reports, interviews, and eyewitness accounts... I find myself wishing I could sit down and read the actual book one day.

I truly wish nothing but the best for Natasha in her life. I’ve seen plenty of conspiracy theories floating around this forum, but I find it hard to buy into any of them... at the end of the day, the truth of what happened belongs solely to Natasha and her captor, leaving the rest of us with nothing but a heavy, vital lesson to learn.

Living through something like that undoubtedly leaves its mark on a person, and I'm genuinely glad she found the strength to tell her story... There is an interview with Morning that does a pretty decent job of capturing the full scope of how Natasha has built her life since then.

I found myself wishing they had delved a bit deeper into her personal backstory, providing more context beyond the headlines, but all things considered, it serves as a poignant reflection of her journey and those massive climate protests that have dominated the landscape... whether you find yourself cheering for Greta or rolling your eyes, I think the film is worth a watch simply because she has become such an undeniable cultural phenomenon, the kind of figure who will likely show up in trivia questions for years to come... the production quality is high, and it’s a lovely way to memorialize this specific moment in time... though, if I'm being candid, I can't help but feel that the whole spectacle has somewhat altered her essence—not in a negative sense, necessarily, but when you compare how she started out, so quiet and measured, with the persona she carries now, the transformation is starkly evident... This happens to be one of my absolute favorite films, and I’ve actually started working my way through the book series now, which is quite a commitment since there are so many sequels to get through... it's interesting how much further the story goes when you have the pages in front of you. 🎉

The first installment and that whole 'Let It Go' anthem remain completely unmatched... I can't bring myself to say the sequel isn't good—it’s certainly engaging enough—but it definitely didn't eclipse the original, and honestly, none of the songs managed to capture that lightning-in-a-bottle magic from the first film. The soundtrack could have had more teeth, though all things considered, the plot holds up quite well. Still, coming off the heels of such a massive phenomenon, I suppose I was expecting just a little bit more... but as long as Olaf is there to carry the charm, I can live with it. 🙂

Oh, and I haven't actually sat down to check out the English dubbing yet; I'll probably catch that whenever it hits the streaming services or TV. I have a feeling the American voice actors did a pretty stellar job with it.

I’m convinced that a performer from a place like Reykjavik would fight tooth and nail for the win, much like how John performed back in 2009... there was something about those Icelandic lyrics that felt truly transcendent. The staging really ought to be understated—just some elegant light shows, her looking stunning in a designer gown, and then that one long, haunting note at the end 😍

The movie was decent enough, though I honestly expected a bit more mockery directed at Eurovision... The opening sequence featuring Waterloo was quite lovely. I wasn't particularly fond of how the Fire Saga band managed to win the national selection in the US; I've never been one for those sci-fi tropes, like that hand from Katiana appearing out of nowhere, nor did I care for the bits where Lars hiccups and a chunk of a mountain collapses or whatever... though I suppose the spirit of Katiana had its merits, if that's my personal take... The scenery in the US was truly breathtaking. I found the scenes where Sobral is singing in the background to be absolutely stunning.

The American character is hilarious, even if the way they depict the situation in Russia is somewhat interesting.

Ultimately, it feels like the film's message is that with a catchy tune and a good vibe—without being total trash—you can win over a nation. You have your Double Trouble moments, but the town of Husavik wins you over right from the start with that beautiful ballad, which really could have actually won at Eurovision 🎉 I'll probably still be listening to it; it’s the one bright spot in the whole thing.

My grievance is that they portray all the songs as being garbage, which I didn't appreciate because, let's be real, you get a few performances like that every year at Eurovision, while everything else is just... standard. Plus, the way they handle the semi-final voting doesn't bear any resemblance to how the actual Eurovision works. It could have been handled with much more nuance. And in the end, if I haven't completely misunderstood the plot, we aren't even left knowing if the American won 🤣 On a side note, the Swedish song gave me a good laugh 🤣

Hello 👍 I was wondering if it might be possible, if it isn't too much trouble, to have my username changed from favorit year to favorit... It seems a bit redundant to keep the year attached when everyone on the forum just refers to me as favorit anyway... I did notice there is already an existing favorit registered here, but their last post was way back in 2009—they only have seven posts total—so I don't imagine it would cause any real conflict or issues with the system...
