Life is a miracle in Movies ·
That’s me. I’ll admit it.😁

I'm going to quote Citirac Mladin on a few certain situations:
"For everything to turn rosy red, the color has to fade first."

Jeremy Flores10 said:It’s an absolute disaster, and I’m still stuck sitting through three hours of this nightmare.😵

Just catching up on this now...😲
The first time I watched it, it just didn't click for me...

But since then, I've revisited it at least 7 or 8 more times, and it honestly gets better every single time.
Jacob Wilson50 claimed everything about this has been done before... and yeah, he's right. It's classic Kusturica style. There are tons of nods and bits lifted from other films. "Grandpa Pantelija died" feels like a callback to "Ala cista," or maybe even Quentin Tarantino's bit about Tom Cruise's sexuality in Top Gun during that penguin scene: "My buddy was in Russia. He slept with a penguin there. It was wild. With sheep or goats, they make noise, but a penguin just stands there perfectly still." Or even that tunnel scene where he goes, "I am a Mexican Hengst, njihihi. I have a big Schwanz, kalibar ohohoho"...
Jeremy Flores10, are you actually sure you understood what the tracks and the tunnel were implying?

The falcon is coming.
Golf in Other Sports ·
Eric Jackson43 said:It’s tough here in the States because there just aren't enough courses. It really does feel like a snobby sport. Personally, I think we should pick a sport that works all the muscles.

Most people in America don't realize you can basically only play golf at the Grand Canyon or on Martha's Vineyard (and even then, only half the course). Plus, everyone who plays HAS to be a member. So, just like was said above, it's pure snobbery.
Smoking habits among Americans in Health ·
I’m a former smoker... I’ve quit more times than I can count, but I always end up stumbling upon some Cuban or Costa Rican cigars, light one up, and I'm right back at it. Once, I even lasted nine months.

The last time I smoked was two and a half years ago, and I don't plan on ever picking it up again. If I'm out at a restaurant, I'll grab a different table if people near me are smoking. Honestly, I can't stand social smokers. They just smell terrible to me.

Smoking rates are highest in places like Turkey or Greece... maybe around 4,000 cigarettes per person annually. And that includes everyone—from kids to non-smokers.

Smoking?
Why does anyone even start?
Mostly, we want to feel like someone, to establish an identity or stand out from the crowd. Boredom is another big factor. Sure, there are other reasons, but they aren't nearly as important.
What I hate most is seeing parents smoke right in front of their kids.
Some say that while Native Americans lost the war and were wiped out by settlers, they are still slowly but surely killing themselves off today.

It was officially confirmed today that the release date is September 27th.
I don't know about you guys, but so far, "My Part" and "America" sound massive to me—as always 😁. Plus, I love how they're messing with Americans.

Man, I can't wait either...
Most Americans won't even realize they're being teased because the chorus is in English while the rest is in German. Since English is the primary language for most Americans listening, they'll just vibe with it and move on. 😁

Just wait until you hear my mashup of "Du Hast" mixed with "I Will Survive." 😁

Uh... I saw that one ages ago... totally forgot all about it. Not sure if it would even hold my interest today, but back then, it was a decent watch.
Starsky & Hutch in Movies ·
Quick side note:
I haven't actually sat down to watch it yet, but I hear Along Came Polly starring Stiller is a total riot. You guys are definitely going to laugh.
The critics absolutely trashed it, but take my word for it if you're into quirky humor.
In Memoriam: Marlon Brando (1924–2004) in Movies ·
Timothy Murphy7 said:Back when I was just a kid, I picked up this massive poster featuring that legendary scene of him on the motorcycle from Wilderness. I absolutely loved it—it hung on my wall for years...

I used to stay with this guy named Mark who had this huge poster from The Godfather showing Al Pacino sitting while Marlon Brando stands over him.
The whole story captured in one shot. We used to sit around and debate that picture all the time.

Since everyone seems to be praising him, I’m going to be the one to disagree.😁

That recent movie with Norton and Robert De Niro was honestly terrible. It shouldn't have even been made.

I remember seeing him go absolutely wild on a subway train once. He started screaming at this woman and her sister until he ended up smashing a plate right there in the car.

"Lily Forever" is absolutely fantastic—you all seriously need to check it out...

Unfortunately, the people handling the translations usually just mess it up...
Even Germans (who don't have a clue when it comes to English) stick to the original title...

I mean, sure, if you're into farming... (She's built like a heavy-duty tractor) 😁

But look, if she’s bad, she’s bad. Let's just be real about it. The more honesty, the better.

granitesailor98 said:It would be cool to know Japanese, but... where do you even learn it? I only know three words: hai (yes) and domo arigato (thanks a lot). And actually writing Japanese... man! Those characters are like hieroglyphics.

granitesailor98: You're right... there are at least five other ways to say thanks. Honestly, I’m skeptical that anyone can master Japanese in six months while living outside of Japan without being glued to the language 24/7. A friend of mine got his Master's over there and took some intensive courses—even though he already spoke four languages—and what he learned evaporated pretty fast. Plus, your average person doesn't have the cash to pay for language school in Tokyo... everything is just so expensive these days.
I could probably wrap my head around the phonetic side of Japanese, but learning to write it... that's a whole different beast.

What about something like Spanish? That shouldn't be such a struggle... you can understand quite a bit right off the bat since the structure is similar, and the rest just comes with time.
When people learn a language, most of them mess up because they're too embarrassed to make mistakes. Regardless, you can never truly "perfect" a language, so you have to keep that in mind...
English has about 350,000 words, but even a top-tier linguist might only know maybe 40,000. No more than that.

You're being a little vague here... what kind of method are we talking about?
thanks!
Madonna in Music ·
Madonna

Madonna was actually something special back when she had John Mayer backing her up. They eventually went their separate ways, and she headed over to the States, only to resurface later performing at random clubs and small-town fairs. The last bit of info I recall is that she ended up settling down in Cleveland. If my memory serves me right, she’s one of those rare singers who actually went to college.
The same goes for A. Lenox—without Stewart, she’s just another face in the crowd.
About Schmidt in Movies ·
I spent the whole movie waiting for that raw, animalistic energy to finally burst out of Nicholson (who actually shares my birthday 😁)....
The opening is brutal... watching him head off into retirement and just staring at the clock until the very last second...
But honestly, what are you even supposed to do if you find out after thirty years of marriage that your spouse isn't actually yours?

If you’d asked me, he would’ve walked away with the Oscar this year.

Orlando Bloom is absolute perfection. And for anyone who thinks English women aren't stunning, let me introduce you to Keira Knightley. 👍

Hey Betty Wright64... out of a million girls, surely you could've found one decent looking. Plus, compared to Depp, Orlando looks like a cheap print of a Murilov painting on some toilet paper. 😁

The movie itself is good. Everything's been done before—the flags, the cliff jumping (minus the sharks), cannon fights, snatching treasure, being stuck on a secret island, all that stuff. It just feels more interesting because we haven't seen this specific style in a while. The acting isn't anything special, though. Depp holds his own, but the rest of the cast? Not so much. I really hope there isn't a sequel.

That said, those two and a half hours flew by thanks to the action and plenty of laughs.
Charles Bronson - he's still got it! in Movies ·
Charles Bronson was a B-movie actor. End of story. Personally, I loved him specifically because he wasn't perfect...
But he definitely had some gems...
In my book, his best work includes "Once Upon a Time in the West," but also "The Great Escape," "The Magnificent Seven," "White Buffalo," and "Vera Cruz."

He lived to be 81.
