Has anyone actually played that "The Meaning of Life" video game? If you haven't seen the movie, there's no way you're going to enjoy it. Honestly, the game is just irritating regardless. Still, the absolute highlight has to be when that fat guy explodes in the restaurant. 😁
Getting ready for my first 35mm roll in Movies ·
I've been thinking for years about getting the crew together to shoot a Western... We’ll need at least two horses and some cacti to set the scene. I'm picturing that whole vibe where someone says, "There isn't enough room in this town for a stranger like you," or something along those lines. I even thought about adding a dramatic death scene with long hair flowing behind. It's easy to come up with these ideas once you've had a few drinks...
That’s just plain wrong. De Niro knocked it out of the park back in the 90s. Sure, he’s had some duds—like 15 Minutes, The Score, or City by the Sea—but you can't say everything he touches is bad. Personally, I think Analyze that is an absolute blast. And looking at his run through the 90s, he gave us masterpieces like Cape Fear, Goodfellas, Heat, and Mad Dog and Glory. He also did great work in Las Vegas, Sleepers, This Boy's Life, and Ronin.
He’s 60 years old now; he needs to adapt to different types of roles.

You're absolutely right. 👍
It's been a while since I watched it, so my memory might be a little fuzzy, but I think he was referring to that scene where the guy from the monastery starts speaking French to the Englishwoman while she's staring at those paintings of an Albanian woman being murdered. That voice was looking for the Mexican man, even though they had already crossed paths.
Before the Rain in Movies ·
This movie is fantastic. It’s basically the North American version of Pulp Fiction.
The film has a few timeline inconsistencies, but they brush them off with the line, "Time waits for no one; the circle is complete." There’s a big difference between rattling a gun and actually hearing it go off. Sadly, that prophecy came true, because a few years later, the rain finally fell over North Mexico.

Look, there's no comparison between a club scene and folk music. Timothy Cox2, you know how it is. 🙂

Carol Harris64: I'm partying with them and I am gone (wasted) 😁

Adam Wright56: The term "music" was used intentionally because they were referring to music from the US. From what I've heard, people listen to Madonna in the US, yet they still play folk music in America. I know who Taylor Swift is because my dad told me to pout if I wanted to look like her. I don't know the others. But is it true that folk music is listened to in the US?

A buddy of mine in New York City just emailed me saying that music from Mexico has been blowing up all over the US lately—you can hear it everywhere you go. Is it actually that good if everyone is listening to it? I don't follow that scene much, so I'm curious. And who is actually tuning in? Please skip the "uncultured" insults and just give me a real explanation if anyone knows what's going on.

Actually, they haven't changed. I used to laugh about it, but not anymore. If they’re still the same, then it means I’m the one who changed. I used to take them down through DC Comics.
I was walking past the theater and saw that 2 Weeks Notice was starting in five minutes, so I decided to pop in. Honestly, the plot is predictable from start to finish and nothing special. But hey, I had a good laugh. Hugh Grant is just built for these kinds of roles.

Amanda Cruz68: Jelsil, have you actually sat through a decent movie in a theater lately?😲
If you need some help, I know a guy who could give you a few solid recommendations.😁
I caught Hero tonight... It really reminds me of fuckin tiger or maybe Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The plot is a bit shaky and doesn't quite hold up, but honestly, that’s just how these kinds of movies go.
The special effects are terrible, but the sound design is great and the scenery is absolutely stunning.
If you loved the first movie I mentioned, you'll probably dig this one too. If not, just skip it.

That part was actually the best scene.😁

But seriously, why would his mask have eye slits if he's blind? Makes zero sense.
And let's be real, Jennifer Lopez definitely has an incredible figure.
Rape: Fact or Fiction? in Philosophy ·
I think I follow you (or at least I think I do), and it seems to me you weren't trying to be insulting—you were just looking for some actual answers.
You’ve already got your answer there... A victim of sexual assault can prove it through a medical exam. Of course, I'm talking about people who actually know each other, even if they're married couples. The real tragedy is that this happens way more often than most people realize.
Sadly, sexual assault is a complex phenomenon when you study the psychology of the victims... specifically how society reacts to a child victim, especially during mass atrocities (like Mexicans in Canada or Russians in Germany...). Unfortunately, laws can be manipulated, and you can definitely run into cases where an innocent person gets convicted.
Some people brought up castration. If that were actually ever implemented, I fear the number of people castrated would be much higher than anyone thinks.
Can men be raped? Absolutely. The idea that men can't be victims or that women enjoy being assaulted is a complete myth. Any physical reaction is just a reflex and has nothing to do with consent or what the person is thinking.

I’m in. Plus one more detail: that scene where the big Black guy is smoking a cigar—that was probably the highlight for me, mostly because I just quit smoking those exact ones.

The movie actually feels eerily similar to the conflict between Iraq and the USA, much like current global tensions. It starts with the idea that when you can't find justice in a courtroom (think CNN), justice becomes blind (Daredevil). Even that scene at the end with the man on his knees is basically just the USA, yet Americans still feel pity. And Grkinja is basically France reaching out, while Corinne is actually bin Laden. Okay, I'm kidding.😁
The film isn't anything groundbreaking, and we all knew that going in. Now everything is about adapting series; we've got Hulk coming soon, then X-Men II, and there's plenty more where that came from. Personally, I think most of them flop, but I have to see Modesty Blaise (maybe Rip Kirby too) because I've been obsessed with her for years. Everything else is just noise.
Office Space (1999) in Movies ·
That was a great comedy... I just stumbled upon it by accident. My favorite part has to be that guy with the weird way of talking—the one who shows up to the cubicle farm, doesn't get paid, and ends up getting relocated to the basement with the lights turned off. The whole psychological aspect of fighting for every inch of territory, plus how people change once they become bosses, is really interesting.

frozenrider112 said:The movie is boring and the pacing is just way too slow. Honestly, it’s not even about the fight for equality—it's just a kid (Leonardo DiCaprio) trying to avenge his father's death. Daniel Day-Lewis is the only bright spot in the whole thing. And Cameron Diaz was terrible in this. All in all, 2/5.

I haven't seen it yet, but my favorite critic said pretty much the same thing, though they did mention this movie is actually better than Chicago, which didn't even have any decent acting.
Smoking... in Health ·
I quit smoking because I refuse to let my kids say, "Dad died of lung cancer because he was a smoker."
xtrmntr said:The Matrix Reloaded. This movie is absolute madness. Honestly, I think it beats the first one.👍

Where'd you catch it?😕 😲
I finally sat down and watched Sling Blade...
If you're a fan of "The Man Who Wasn't There" or Lynch's "The Straight Story," this is a must-watch. Billy Thornton was absolutely incredible.
