Armor of Gods in Movies ·
Gregory Brooks6 said:Does anyone recall which street in Washington, D.C. they were jumping over at the end of that chase scene?

They were jumping over the George Washington Bridge, using the river embankment to get from one side to the other via the bridge.

One scene was actually filmed right on my street. I still remember it vividly, even though I was only about five years old at the time. The shot lasts maybe two seconds in the movie—if that—but it’s still a funny little coincidence.

I watched that movie a long time ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't sit through the whole thing this time around—I only caught the segment where the fight with the women happens and he jumps onto the hot air balloon. 😢

Yeah... I still can't quite wrap my head around it. Apparently, they actually filmed that scene twice. They nailed it the first time, but for some reason, they decided to run it back—and that’s when things went sideways.

Honestly, I’m curious to see what kind of topics we end up discussing here...

I'm certainly no expert in these areas... Someone else could probably tackle ninjutsu, while Kendou might be better suited for Eisenfaust... 🤔

Cain said:Peter Myers29, you really let me down there. You should have mentioned that in Ki-Aikido, a properly tightened belt applies pressure to the hara, helping you focus and direct your ki. 😁

🙂 True, but that’s the secret... Besides, you can always tuck various weapons into it... 🤔 ...like a pocketknife, for instance. 😁

Not everyone is wired the same way.

Perhaps, but if you ask me, we shouldn't place so much weight on belt colors.

I could easily go out and buy a white and red belt just to trick someone into thinking I hold a 6th degree rank in USA Judo at some local McDojo.

There was a time when they just handed out certificates: stating that a certain person had mastered specific techniques or skills, complete with an instructor's seal and signature.

In some ways, that might have been better. Back then, a person's experience was measured by how filthy and worn out their white belt actually was.

The whole colored belt system is actually a relatively modern invention traced back to Jigoro Kano (the founder of USA Judo). In the early days, a black belt was the sole indicator of mastery, while everyone else—regardless of their actual skill level—simply wore white belts.

On a separate note, I find the concept of colored belts to be quite flawed from a psychological standpoint. For instance, when someone wearing a yellow belt goes to drill with a blue or brown belt, they immediately fall into a mental trap. They see the color of the belt and instantly fixate on their partner's perceived rank, rather than focusing on the technique itself, which should be the true measure of one's ability.

But, Charlie Brown...

Come on, folks, let me hear it... 😁
Why not take some initiative yourself? Or better yet, rally your family or neighbors... Borrow a weed whacker, a chainsaw, or whatever else you need and just get it done. And if you're really as allergic as you claim, don't forget to wear a protective mask. Just cut everything down, shove it into trash bags, and toss them out. It isn't rocket science; it just takes a little effort.

Oh, and while you're at it, feel free to call Central Park and give them your brilliant suggestion.

Do you honestly think my weight is an issue?

Besides, Chuck Norris and maybe Peter Myers29 also deal with being overweight. It would be interesting if they chimed in to share their perspective.

Weight can be an issue, but only if it actually limits your mobility. Being up by five or ten pounds isn't necessarily a problem, provided you can still train normally despite the extra weight. Then, of course, there's the matter of individual body composition...

There’s a reason this movie picked up a handful of Golden Raspberries back in the day. Now I get it, even though I only sat through about ten minutes before calling it quits—not that I’m much of a masochist.

Amanda Lee42 said:The smoother the surface, the easier it is for dust to kick up. You barely walk through a hallway or create a tiny draft, and it’s airborne—or the dog starts chasing it ;-) You wave a rag intended for cleaning, and you're just stirring it all back up again.
(I'm not sure how they phrased that; it makes it sound like I'm playing tennis with a cleaning cloth. ;-)))
In reality, quite a bit of this stuff just gets kicked around constantly when you have a dog.😁 😁 😁

Hold on a second. People talk about dust as if every apartment has a two-inch layer of it sitting on the floor. I assume anyone with a shred of sanity cleans their home at least once a week—vacuuming, dusting, that sort of thing. Besides, dust is mostly just dead skin cells, so it’s inevitable no matter what you do. It's also much easier to wipe off hardwood or laminate than it is to deal with carpet or rugs...🤔

Exactly.

🤔 People always say love is about chemistry... but they don't mean opposites attract. That’s physics—that's how magnets work. In actual chemistry, if you mix two opposites like an acid and a base, you just get salt and water. Usually, people mean that "like dissolves like." So, when a girl rejects me for some total jerk, she’s clearly just as foolish as he is. She usually figures that out the hard way, though. As Confucius would say, experience is the most relentless teacher.

Megan Reed said:One more thing. I generally get the impression that those who condemn abortion only seem to target the women making the choice. For instance, if a father doesn't want the child, he isn't technically at fault or obligated. He just decides he doesn't want to be a parent, leaves the woman to handle it alone, and wouldn't lift a finger even if the child were born... what’s your take on men like that?

And what about the reverse? Say a woman gets pregnant unexpectedly, the man wants the child, but she doesn't. Based on your logic, it seems you assume all men are inherently responsible for staying and providing once they've conceived (which feels like a rather one-sided, stereotypical view). Real life is rarely that black and white.
