Scalp examination by a dermatologist in Health ·
I know I’ve seen those little signs popping up in pharmacies lately, advertising free skin checks with those tiny micro-cameras.
I think they have them at that CVS near the McDonald's downtown, or maybe even that big Walgreens over by the main plaza.
Honestly, if you just wander into a few of the nicer drugstores, you'll definitely find one. I'm pretty sure you should call ahead to make sure they're doing the free screenings, though—and just a heads-up, they usually try to upsell you on their own skincare products once they're done looking at you.

coppergardener said:So you're looking for advice, huh? Like, supplements? Sorry honey, I don't really know much about those... plus, who knows what kind of junk they pack into them. Maybe check with some street dealer instead😉. Just kidding, obviously... seriously though, I don't know. But I have to say, your username is pretty degrading.

I think some actress or singer mentioned hers grew because her husband gave her massages every night(?)😁 😂. (Yeah, right, just like how Britney and Lindsay's happened naturally... ignoring the fact that it all seemed to happen overnight...) ...but hey, who knows? Maybe that stimulation actually does something.

Then there was that news story recently about those twins—little boys, or babies, I can't quite remember... anyway, apparently they were using lavender baby oil all the time and their chests... well, they developed. It turns out lavender has this mild estrogenic effect, so maybe that's it... though I doubt it. If that were true, the concentration of essential oils would have to be way higher (like if you were slathering pure lavender oil or some other plant with similar properties on them) than what's actually in baby oil (which usually only has trace amounts... if they even put any in at all). I don't know if their chests actually swelled up, but they probably took lavender off the shopping list after that.🙂

Indira from the colony🤣 🤣 🤣
said they grew because of having lots of sex🤣 🤣
How to stop biting your nails? in Health ·
Honestly, the worst part is when you bite them so much that the skin starts pulling tight around the nail, which totally prevents them from growing back properly in the first place...
My sister is exactly like that. She’s constantly struggling to grow out her nails, but it’s a losing battle because she can't help but bite them off the second they get long enough. It’s like this total OCD loop. Every single time I see her, her fingers are already halfway in her mouth.
I don't know how people do it—it honestly grosses me out thinking about shoving those fingertips under your teeth and into your mouth, especially if you haven't even washed your hands lately. You could pick up all sorts of nasty bacteria that way.

Postpartum urinary tract infections—or just general genital infections after giving birth—can be such a massive headache. It’s one of those things that isn't talked about enough during the whole "new baby" whirlwind, you know? You're so focused on sleep schedules and feeding, and then suddenly you're dealing with this nagging discomfort that just won't quit. It’s kind of like when you’re working on a classic car in your garage; you think you’ve fixed the leak, but then you realize there’s another issue hiding deep under the chassis. Dealing with these kinds of infections right after labor can feel exactly like that—just one thing after another. It's frustrating because your body is already going through a huge transition, and you just want to feel normal again. If you're feeling off, don't just brush it off thinking it's part of the recovery process. Definitely check in with your doctor. Better safe than sorry.
It’s like madness jumping from cows straight into people with Creutzfeldt-Jakob
I really doubt we'd see anything like that here in the States, though I bet it pops up in places like England since they've dealt with those mad cow outbreaks before...
Sleeping 12 hours... anyone else? in Health ·
Maybe six hours overnight is enough
but during the day, I definitely need at least an hour or two
I just feel way more refreshed when I can squeeze in those two hours this afternoon, rather than trying to power through with six or seven hours of sleep in one go😬

Nancy Smith72 said:I’m honestly just a little worried about when I finally try to hit the hay later. Like, what if I can't actually shut my eyes? I'm just concerned they might be a bit too intense... because there's really no point in staying up all night staring at the ceiling.😳

Well, I guess it really just comes down to when you're hitting the can... honestly, don't even think about touching that stuff at night. You'll be staring at the ceiling until sunrise. Try sticking to it in the morning or maybe early afternoon instead.
Man, I remember this one time... I hadn't slept in over 24 hours straight. I was totally drowning in work, trying to finish up some seminar paper, and it was already 5:00 AM. I figured, "Hey, if I just take a quick little nap, it'll give me that second wind I need to power through." You know, like when you think a quick coffee break will actually help? Yeah, huge mistake. I laid down just to rest my eyes for a second, but I ended up crashing hard—like, completely out cold. I didn't wake up until 3:00 PM the next afternoon. Total disaster. 😬

Haha, seriously though, you probably shouldn't be sipping that stuff too late in the afternoon or once evening rolls around. It’s like trying to hit the brakes on a freight train—once that caffeine kicks in, you're just staring at the ceiling until sunrise.

Nancy Smith72 said:Hey there,

how much kick do those energy effervescent tablets actually have?

Well, take a look at this http://www.redbull.com/us-en/products/energy-drinks

They really do the trick for me. I’m always dragging because my blood pressure runs low, and honestly, I feel like a zombie half the time. Instead of just mixing them in water at home, I usually just toss them into my drink during an ISO-Sport workout.
Mark Stewart4 said:Yeah, yeah... I’m honestly just laughing at myself at this point!!! Once again, I decided to take a "big leap" and once again, I completely blew it!!! Way to go, me!!! I don't even know how to deal with this anymore when my willpower is basically non-existent.
Everything feels totally pointless right now. I am so done with the constant setbacks and then the massive mood swings that hit immediately after I try to "fix things" with whatever quick fix comes my way!!!
Seriously though, how do you guys actually pull this off?!?!?! Is there even any hope for someone like me?! Why does everything feel ten times harder now than it used to be?! Does anyone even have an answer for that?!
It feels like everyone here has stopped posting too, and I’m left feeling like everyone has just given up on me—and honestly, mostly I've just given up on myself!!!
But look, even though I’m spiraling right now, I think I’ll actually make that kale dish stormylynx4 was talking about for lunch...
I feel terrible, just awful... My period is coming and I honestly feel like I could bite my own head off!!!

😘 😘 😘 😘

don't give up, you've got this 🙂
go back and read that very first post of yours 🙂
and as for the PMS, forget about it, just channel all that energy toward your goal
and why was it easier before? Look, it's much easier to say it than to actually do it.
so don't let yourself down 😘

So, if you grab one of those Red Bull energy effervescent tablets—you know, they usually tuck one inside the pack for you—just drop it into your Gatorade and you're good to go. It’s actually pretty solid; keeps you focused while you're grinding through your studies
What is Post-Abortion Syndrome (PAS)? in Health ·
Olivia Green74 said:According to the WHO (I think I mentioned this somewhere else), being healthy isn't just about not being sick. It’s about how everything functions—physically, mentally, socially, all of it. So, if we're talking about blood work issues, that's health. If we're talking about poverty, that's health. And if we're talking about mental state? Well, obviously that's part of health too. Plus, your headspace is HUGE when it comes to overall wellness. 🙂

Well, it's not like the WHO just discovered hot water... which is why we have a whole psychology subforum, anyway.

analogsailor98 said:I really appreciate your take, especially that part about how morality is sort of hardwired into us—without me trying to sound like some know-it-all, obviously. Thanks for sharing that thought.🙂

Morality is just something society makes up, I guess.

But why is there all this talk about being "moral" when it comes to health?

Honestly, I feel like this thread would fit better over in the psychology section, since we're really talking about what's going on inside someone's head anyway.
Look, they're Russians, you know? Like the Fedorov crowd... my old man's eye doctor actually brought it up to him once, but he’s not exactly itching to drop cash on it. He figures since he's getting up there in years anyway, he should probably just nudge my sister instead. She's sitting at a -5, but she’s totally digging her heels in and saying no. Honestly, if 😬 were an option for me, I’d be all over it. I’m just hovering around

Dealing with painful periods in Women's Health ·
My sister is going through it right now. She doesn't have any cysts—even the ultrasound showed everything was clear—but she’s in so much pain she can’t even function without an injection. She's totally refusing birth control, though, because she's terrified it'll make her gain weight. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here dealing with endometriosis, and yeah, it hurts, but I just pop an Advil or maybe a couple of Tylenol depending on how bad it gets, clench my teeth, and power through. I actually *want* to be on the pill, but my doctors won't let me for now because of some heavy bleeding issues. So, looks like more misery on the horizon for me, too.

I bet you already know all those little "remedies" that barely do anything, like just pressing a hot water bottle against your stomach and hoping for the best.

Hang in there.😘
Dealing with painful periods in Women's Health ·
Hey, have you actually sat down with an OBGYN for an ultrasound yet? You really should check if there's something like endometriosis or something else causing those brutal cramps. If you haven't, I’d definitely suggest getting it checked out before your next period hits.
Maybe give some herbal stuff a shot? It takes a while to kick in, obviously, but it might be a gentler way to go than dealing with constant injections. You can find evening primrose oil at basically any CVS or Walgreens.
If things get really bad and nothing else works, you could try mixing Buscopan and Tylenol.
My sister goes through the exact same thing—it's honestly awful. She feels like she can't even function without shots of Voltaren, but let's be real, relying on heavy stuff like that isn't the healthiest long-term plan.
Seriously though, go see a specialist first just to rule out anything like cysts or whatever might be triggering the pain.

edit: I think there used to be a massive thread on here about period pains or something similar, so maybe dig through the older pages to see if anyone else had the same issue.

Could someone shoot me a DM with what you guys ended up paying for the full checkup? I don't want to be rude, I just want a rough idea of what the damage might be 🙂

actually, you can just say it here too 😁

If I remember right, the exam, ultrasound, and Pap smear together were about that much $133
Best nasal spray for congestion? in Health ·
I’ve got that deviated septum myself, and man, my sinuses take a beating. It feels like things just get worse every single year, but I haven't really pulled the trigger on surgery yet. For now, I’m just stuck in this cycle of using nasal drops, spraying stuff, and basically drowning myself in antibiotics and allergy pills because the inflammation just won't quit. 😢
