Rude staff at a non-profit – what should I do? in Psychology & Therapy ·
I don't get what you're even looking for here... if you want someone to weigh in on something, just tell the story... being this vague doesn't just make it impossible to answer, it makes it impossible to understand what you're even asking about...

Get rid of this gray area so people can actually get credit on their accounts for the work they've done.
You guys are smart, I assume you figure out how to do that.
I don't think anyone could disagree with the goal behind the initiative mentioned in the last post.
👍

First, they drafted this psychotherapy bill, and apparently, anyone with a liberal arts degree could call themselves a psychotherapist. Nobody bothered to check which majors even counted, so it was a total mess... 😍 then Milinovic (the Health Secretary from the Republican Party) put together a commission made up strictly of doctors, making it pretty obvious where this was headed... and now we're stuck with everyone pissed off because everybody wants their own slice of the pie. etc.

Bottom line: 🙂

Look, like I already said in that other thread—which clearly nobody bothered to read—here’s the deal:

1) In the USA, psychotherapist isn't actually an official job title. It’s not even in the occupational classification. Sure, psychiatrists can specialize in it, but you won't find "psychotherapist" listed as its own standalone profession. They're currently "working on it" regarding the legislation.

2) Legally speaking, psychotherapy can only be practiced by a psychiatrist within a psychiatric clinic. Psychologists are limited to psychological counseling.

3) Before the Psychology Practice Act was passed, psychologists wanting to go private (basically acting as psychotherapists) were lumped in with tarot readers and similar small businesses. My colleague checked, and they were literally categorized the exact same way. Even today, some psychologist-psychotherapists set up LLCs instead of private practices—probably just to dodge the association—and then provide what they call "psychological counseling" services.

4) Here’s the kicker: according to certain textbook definitions, psychotherapy is for "serious" issues, while counseling is for adjustment problems and daily functioning. But let's be real—you CANNOT draw a line between the two in practice because they overlap completely. That's common sense. That’s why psychologist-psychotherapists have to bill everything as "counseling." I bill as counseling. That’s what the law says we do. But the client gets exactly what they came for: someone to talk to.

5) As for everyone else... there are shady little businesses for every service imaginable... midwives, life coaches, "life schools"... people go there because they want to learn and talk. Psychotherapy is also about learning and talking. People just use different names and different methods... some are structured, some aren't... the client knows what they want, they look for it, and they get it. Sometimes the label doesn't even matter.

X) Honestly, I don't think this is even the real issue here. All of this was laid out in that thread, and the main target seems to be the moderator who wrote it.🙂
I didn't delete that post, so I didn't bring it back either 🙂

This whole "pretending to delete posts" thing is getting... pathetic

Anyway, I'm handing this thread over to Nico....
Anonymous said:So why the hell are you deleting posts before I can even edit them? Double standards again? You're handing out bans before the admin even gets a chance to fix their own post?

Which post and where did I delete?
ambercyclist50 said:So why don't you just be honest for once? Just say, "Hey guys, I'm stirring the pot and baiting people just to get more border agents under hypnosis so I can rake in the cash. Who cares if it's useless or causes damage?"

My posts aren't about me, Mauro!

The whole point of what you quoted was to explain that according to the forum rules, anyone can talk to whoever they want via DM about anything at all. There’s no monitoring or oversight on that. That’s just freedom of speech and online interaction. If something's out of line, you report the message.

What you said in response is just your own opinion, and it has nothing to do with me.
Nicole Turner35 said:No—it was whipped up immediately after I flagged it as spam and called out the mod behavior. My post on the BPD thread went up at 12:10, this one at 12:15, and your "correction" popped up at 12:17.

Let me break it down for you... you open the edit window, type what you want, hit send... then the forum lags out, takes a few minutes to catch up, fails, so you hit BACK on your browser and try again... once things stabilize, the post finally goes live. 🙂

I can't multitask by reading the rest of the thread while I'm mid-edit, nor can I track other PDFs at the same time. I saw your post on the main thread after I finished editing mine, and I only saw this thread just now when people pointed it out. 🙂

So, I’ve answered everything. The other stuff already got its response, and I'm not going to repeat myself.
Anyone can post on this forum as long as they follow the rules. Personal beef with what someone wrote isn't a moderator issue, and you can't pass off your own opinions as hard facts.

How people feel about a thread or whether you like their takes doesn't change the rules. Nobody is forcing anyone to write here, and nobody is forcing anyone to read either.

The thread about BPD isn't anyone's private property. People can post for whatever reason they want. Why someone shows up or why they're typing isn't anyone's business, and they don't owe you an explanation.

@granitecyclist99
Your accusations only matter if you actually have proof—not just some personal vibe or implied opinion.

@Nicole Turner35
As you can see, and maybe you already noticed, the multi-quote was set up after those posts went live. It was a glitch due to forum issues, and it was fixed almost immediately.

@ambercyclist50 It’s been explained to you a few times now: nobody has to justify why they’re posting or why they joined a thread. Bringing people to a thread isn't against the rules,
and those people already told you themselves that I didn't drag them here—they showed up on their own.
That whole "soliciting clients" nonsense was already covered in a report, including people opening fake profiles just to try and prove I'm not poaching clients. Honestly, you acting like some high-level expert psychotherapist could also be seen as soliciting. Look, if someone wants to reach out to someone else here, that's fine. Even if someone is looking for clients for anything, it doesn't break the rules.
People can talk to whoever they want privately; that's literally what PMs are for.

More posts doesn't mean better posts.

If one group of users gets along and then a second group joins and everything falls apart, it's pretty obvious one group has zero communication skills. Plus, no group has the right to claim a thread as their own and use that to decide who can or can't post.

And like I said before, you need to distinguish moderator actions from personal opinions toward users (who happen to be the moderators). They aren't the same thing, and you can't mix them up.
How do I know if I'm trans? in Psychology ·
frozenfox84 said:Looking back, I felt like I didn't quite fit into either category—sounds strange, I know—but I wasn't truly myself either. I've toyed with the idea of playing a "supporting role" more than once; it had its charms, honestly. Even as a gay man with zero interest in women, there was an aesthetic appeal to it—call it curiosity, I guess. I gave it a shot, mostly because I have a thing for high-end designer heels and find feminine style inspiring, though I wouldn't want anyone actually addressing me as a woman.

o.O

Sex isn't binary. We have male and female, but fundamentally, we're all biological women... if certain hormones kick in, the male traits develop in stages. Each stage needs specific hormone levels. Sometimes the whole "male program" doesn't finish the job, leaving people with one sex in one body, or traits from both, or even a woman carrying testosterone instead of ovaries.

Just like sex isn't two fixed categories but a huge spectrum of possibilities, gender can't be split into just two boxes either. Transgender identity is being fully identified as the opposite of your biological sex... based on what you wrote, that clearly isn't your situation.

So the real question is: do you actually need a label, and why? What's the point? Are you actually looking for a permanent change to your body or how you act?
How do I know if I'm trans? in Psychology ·
Looking back on life, how have you actually felt? Ever found yourself wishing you were born into a different gender? When you picture yourself acting more feminine—the clothes, the look, the whole vibe—how does that sit with you? You ever tried any of it? And honestly, how would it feel if people started addressing you as a woman?
Man... 🙂 you gotta try explaining something you don't even get yourself, then you read back what you wrote and realize it makes even less sense than before...
I’ve never seen anyone use a variation with "truthfully"... it usually translates to "exactly" or "precisely." I don't get why people feel the need to overcomplicate things. At the end of the day, you gotta focus on how people actually talk and the vibe of the language, not some rigid, formal textbook translation.

Hey.

I need some help with a research project I’m running. This is just the preliminary phase. Here’s a list of tracks from YouTube.

Listen up. I need you to go listen to this music—or at least some clips of it if you can manage that. Then tell me which tracks actually work for you when you’re grinding through deep work, like reading, studying, or prepping lectures. Give it to me straight.

Also, let me know which tracks you guys are vibing with. Hardcore. They aren't cut out for this kind of thing, if they even exist at all.

If you don't want to sit through these long recordings and just want to jump to the parts that actually matter, let me know. Just drop a comment with the timestamp for the sections you find useful or the ones that miss the mark.

Just number the tracks before the links if you're gonna reference them. Drop your replies here or just shoot me a DM.

Thanks. 🙂

Jose Murphy5 said:I went in with such high hopes, but honestly? I walked away with absolutely nothing—except maybe feeling even worse than before. And this was supposed to be the top-rated specialist in the whole area, which is exactly why I sought them out in the first place.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not out here preaching "just do it yourself" or anything like that.
But you really have to be relentless. You’ve got to keep digging until you find someone who actually clicks with you. If the first guy is a dud, move to the second, then the third... don't just settle. Sometimes, after getting burned by so many disappointments, you end up finding your own strength through the search. You start realizing you can take matters into your own hands and put in the hard work to improve yourself without constantly waiting for someone else to swoop in and save you.

People mess up when they hunt for "the best" in some field. You don't bring a diagnosis into therapy—you bring a human being with all their own quirks and unique traits.

You’ve gotta be persistent. If the first, second, or third person isn't the right fit, keep digging. Honestly, after enough disappointments, you might even end up helping yourself just by realizing you need to put in the work and stop relying on someone else to fix you.

That's why this matters... stay stubborn and keep looking until you find the one who's actually right for us...
How to survive postpartum without any family support? in Psychology & Therapy ·
feralnomad8 said:This story feels about 90 percent like my own. When I sat down to write my very first post, I was clearly going through some kind of minor mental breakdown—it was a lot. Things are much better now, though. I’m just trying to stop overthinking everything and actually lean into the little things that bring me peace when I can.
I was never really the golden child growing up, you know? I just sort of flew under the radar. But now, it feels like things have shifted in a weird way. It’s like I’ve become some kind of threat to the people in my family who act like they're untouchable—my sisters and his brothers, specifically. They carry themselves with this fake sense of superiority, and honestly, it’s exhausting to watch. It feels like there’s this constant, subtle push to just... erase us. My husband and I aren't trying to flex or anything; we've managed to get our careers on track, raise our kid, and get settled into a home. We did it. It wasn't easy, and I’m not bragging about it—honestly, if everything fell apart tomorrow, we could live in a tent for all I care. But it seems like that success triggers this deep-seated envy in them. It’s hard to deal with that much resentment when you're just trying to live your life.
I honestly wasn't asking for much. I just wanted things to stay pretty much the same after the baby arrived—you know, just checking in every few days, a quick "how are you doing?" or "how’s the little one settling in?" Nothing over the top, nothing crazy. I didn't even need people dropping by or making a whole production out of visiting. But this total silence? This complete lack of contact? It actually kind of shook me. Just... nothing. Zero. And it’s been going on like this for a while now. In the beginning, I was the one reaching out. I was actually in such a good mood right after giving birth, feeling all that newborn glow, but looking back now, I finally see it. They weren't just busy; they were ignoring me in so many different ways. It’s like they weren't even curious about what the baby looks like.

Here’s the reality check... You wanted it, you imagined it, you wished for it... you... not them. It's you, not them. And that's the whole damn story. The world doesn't spin according to our little fantasies; it only works the way we make it work in the tiny slice of life we actually control...

Now you've got a choice to make. Are you going to try to force things with them, obsessing over why they act this way, or are you going to channel all that energy back into your son, your life, and your family? Just focus on letting yourself, him, and your husband actually be happy....

It’s not just about calming nerves or offering some comfort; this stuff can actually wipe the problem out entirely...

As for the whole truth thing... that's on the individual to decide. When my clients ask me to dig up memories through hypnosis, I always lay it out for them: those "memories" might just be mental constructs that have zero connection to what actually happened. I let them choose—do they want to just fix the issue, or are we going down the rabbit hole of chasing "truth"?
Dr. Michael Newton in Psychology ·
But look, the fact is it actually helps, which just brings up this massive question: what matters more... having a reliable memory or actually solving the problem?
