Can someone please explain this to me, because I honestly just don't see the appeal. 😁
So, here's the deal. There is a band—or there used to be one. And they were great, truly great, so much so that someone decided to go out and create... the exact same band 😕 but slightly different? Because let's be honest, no tribute band can ever truly capture the magic of the original.
What got me thinking about all this was No Angel, whom I had the (un)fortunate opportunity to hear at a festival in Rockville earlier this month. Honestly, they were so dreadful that I was left completely speechless. 😁
There was actually another tribute act performing there too, some sort of Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute group. 😁 They didn't mess up quite as badly, though I still fail to see the point of it all.
Think about it: a band exists, and then you decide to go out and perform a carbon copy of their entire identity? We aren't even talking about covers here—which, while I think they make sense (though I’d personally much rather hear people play original material, even if it's mediocre, just so they realize music might not be their calling—maybe 😁). We are talking about literally mimicking someone else's specific musical expression and style.
I have heard people argue that if a band has been gone for a very long time (like The Beatles, for example) then it serves a purpose to introduce people to such an essential influence on all subsequent bands and music in general. But I still don't get it. Even if you can replicate the music (especially if the songs are relatively straightforward to play), how on earth are you supposed to imitate a voice like John Lennon's or Paul McCartney's? It is simply impossible. And what are the odds that someone with a similar voice would also happen to play the songs exactly the way The Beatles did?
Even if every single technical requirement were met, what is the actual point when I KNOW deep down that it isn't them? 😁
I have to admit, I’m finding this whole situation a bit difficult to wrap my head around.
It seems like you don't have one specific, glaring reason for wanting to create some distance, yet there's this clear urge to pull away. You mentioned that she’s actually quite dear to you and a perfectly lovely person, but for some reason, being around her just doesn't feel right anymore. It’s such a strange, heavy feeling, isn't it? And now you're left wondering how to gracefully drift apart on your own without making a scene.
First things first, please try not to cross-post the same topic across several different subforums.
I’m having a little trouble following your logic here. Since you aren't emotionally attached to this individual, I don't quite see what makes cutting ties such a difficult hurdle. If you were stuck in a toxic cycle where an unhealthy dependency had formed, I might understand the struggle to walk away, but from what you've shared, I don't see any signs of that kind of entanglement. 🤷

But why does his perspective actually matter in this equation?
At the end of the day, you're the one who made the decision to step away from the relationship. How can he possibly force your hand, and why should his potential ego issues weigh so heavily on your choice?
The lineup looks absolutely incredible, but honestly, the Coachella damage 🤮
It’s such a shame; if this were being held at a different venue, I’d definitely be opening up my wallet, but under these circumstances, there’s just no way I can justify it.

Like, if it's just one little beer, maybe a shandy or something around 2% alcohol? I haven't even tried it yet! I used to really love a good glass of red wine or a cold beer, but now, according to my psychiatrist, I’m not supposed to touch a single drop... So... am I allowed? What are the long-term consequences if I just have one or two beers in the evening? The other thing is, I just don't feel like going out anymore. Everyone around me is drinking, and I find myself making up all these excuses for why I won't be joining in that night... I really miss that feeling... Just having a beer, or a glass of red wine..........
Well, if you’re looking to develop a sudden, intense urge to go urban climbing or start hanging off streetlamps, then by all means, go right ahead. 😁
It’s been quite a while since I last sat down to watch this one, and honestly, I think I only saw it once before 😁, so my memory of how it all wraps up is a little fuzzy, but I can vividly recall absolutely dying of laughter from start to finish. 🙏
The script is a perfect ten; that sarcastic little guy 🙏 is just gold, and Billy Bob Thornton is nothing short of brilliant. 😍
I find it absolutely fascinating how a situation involving someone receiving a partial ban can somehow spiral back into being labeled as "unusual behavior" by certain moderators, who then proceed to openly display their intolerance toward those individuals with such a wonderful, deeply personal underlying bias. 🍿
Regarding your "only" 11 warnings 😁, did it ever occur to you that you might have been treated more leniently in the past because the moderators were actually trying to be reasonable with you?
Brandon Castillo4 and mistypanther haven't spent a huge amount of time over on the moderator sub-forum, so they might not have crossed paths with you just yet. 🙂 Not everyone approaches moderation with the exact same style or intensity, but there was a general consensus among us regarding a partial ban.
As for my activity in other sections of the site, that’s really none of your business, and honestly, by throwing these provocations around, you're just digging yourself into an even deeper hole.
If you're looking to appeal the restriction on posting in the KZB, you'll need to take that up directly with the admins.
And who do you think actually greenlit this partial ban?
I am in complete agreement with mistywolf17 on this one. You were given plenty of warnings and had already faced sanctions—if you just look at the page history and the moderation logs, it’s all right there—but you simply chose to tune everything out.
Do you really believe the moderators exist solely to hand out bans? A ban can be issued at any moment without needing a formal strike first. Those strikes serve as both a warning and a penalty, acting as a signal that you ignored every single time.
Furthermore, issuing a prior warning before a partial ban isn't a strict requirement; it's entirely optional depending on the situation.
Even though people keep raving about how terrible the last show was (honestly, if you ask me, it wasn't quite as bad as everyone makes it out to be), I’m definitely still going. That said, The Fillmore isn't exactly my favorite spot for a gig. I’d much rather they played at The Fillmore instead. 😬
